http://thedianerehmshow.org/stationsLawmakers And Regulators Take A Closer Look At BitcoinYesterday, the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs held a hearing on the potential risks, threats and promises of virtual currencies. Later today, a Senate Banking Committee will hold a similar hearing. The focus is on Bitcoin, a virtual currency that operates completely outside of U.S. financial regulations and protections. Critics argue the current lack of oversight offers anonymity to those hoping to skirt U.S. laws, but others say it’s a frontier in electronic commerce with important consumer benefits. Diane and her guests talk about Bitcoin and the future of virtual currencies.
Guests
Jennifer Shasky Calvery director, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, U.S. Treasury Department James Freis attorney, Cleary, Gottleib, Steen and Hamilton specializing in financial regulatory and enforcement issues. Jamila Trindle senior reporter, Foreign Policy Magazine Jon Matonis executive director, Bitcoin Foundation Francois Velde senior economist, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago You're goin' love the following comment: I note that than one of the guests represents the Federal Reserve. How ironic. A secretive private entity that is above public scrutiny and feels unencumbered by legislative oversight and produces money out of thin air is complaining about another secretive entity that is outside public scrutiny producing money out of thin air. To further add to the irony, will anyone have the guts to forthrightly ask the representative from the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network how many of the "banksters" that crashed the economy have been brought up against charges and prosecuted? How about those at the credit rating agencies that gave high marks to inherently worthless financial instruments that they didn't understand - how many have been prosecuted? Let's be honest, the US Government has failed in being a proper steward of the traditional financial/monetary system. A clear case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Blockchain actually writes "(Watch Only)" next to all watch only bitcoin addresses in Red.
Very hard to confuse it with a usual bitcoin address whose private keys are stored.
But yes, its always best to sweep the account first with all bitcoins before processing your end of the bargain. Or to use an escrow.
Thanks.
That's great that there's a big red warning to protect people. I believe I've seen a similar practice used before. The above doesn't apply to me because I smoke ONLY two packs a day.

US: Hello, China. We like to make another loan. China: No problem! How many bitcoins would you like to borrow? US: What's the interest rate? China: Zero! Just pay back the exact amount of bitcoins we loan you and you're golden. US: Can we repay you in dollars?... Hello. Hello! Helloooooooo! US: Hello, FBI. We would like to borrow only $1B of the money you have from DPR's old account, and we promise to pay it back with dollars after the trial. FBI: No problem. We'll simply call Mt Gox, where we stored it for safekeeping, and have it transferred probably within 24 hours. US: You guys are the bestest! Wait, what. Did you say Mt Gox?

Let's pretend I'm a scammer.
A person expresses to me that they can't buy a bitcoin because they are too expensive. Knowing now that this person probably doesn't understand math well, I explain, then convince him to purchase only a hundred dollars worth.
For sake of argument and to simplify the math, let's say the exchange rate is exactly $1,000 when I speak to this person. A hundred dollar purchase equates to 1/10 of a full bitcoin. He hands be a nice crisp one hundred dollar bill, and I transfer to him .001 BTC.
If, by chance, he sees the dollar amount as only $1, I look at my watch and inform him that the "block chain" is probably currently updating its files, during which time the decimal is moved back two places to complete the task faster. I may even blame this on Gavin and Luke.
To show him that all is fine, we wait for the confirmations, and I offer to buy that $100 worth of BTC from him, giving him the bill first, then showing him how to transfer the BTC back to my wallet. I then say, "See? Now I just purchased a hundred dollars worth of bitcons from you." I then ask him if he's comfortable now, but whatever the answer is, I either come out ahead $99 or $100, and he is out $0 (zero) or $99 if he goes through with the purchase the same way as before.
Do you see how?

Hope he`s buying up those carbon credits to offset the electrical output of his ASIC mining hardware In France 80% of electricity is made via nuclear. No carbon credits necessary. Green mining in France!!!!

He is right though, why would anyone who has problems come here and bitch and moan instead of going to the proper place? How many thousands of complaints does one have to read and delete or ignore before people get fed up and report it to the FTC or the AG in Kansas. Remarkably you want to ignore the plight of 100s who have had to fight tooth and nail to get refunds and still 100s more who are still expecting BFL to refund them according to FTC regulations. Why do you continually ignore the plight of 100s of people? Obviously you are being "paid" in some manner to defend BFL as no one can be that obtuse or sociopathic when it comes to the financial pain of hundreds who have every right to expect refunds. At this point it there is little evidence to support that BFL is a reputable supplier of ASIC mining equipment. They refused to provide refunds. Their own website is purposefully using double speak and unclear really on when these next units will ship. Coupled with a ALL SALES ARE FINAL stipulation should warn off everyone from anything BFL. There are plenty of other competitors that will ship, that have shipped and give refunds. Sad... just sad. You and Inaba are not going to fool anyone here with this diatribe. BFL will get a 28nm out to the market behind at least 3 or 4 other fabricators given their own timeline. DO NOT BUY BFL PRODUCTS. SIMPLE SOLUTIONS FOR US ALL. Especially when it won't make a dime. Well, let's see,Phin gets 10BTC for shuttin the fuck up Phin has no balls or hes got a skeleton in the closet that Josh knows about & is extorting him with it...the latter is my best guess How much you getting BCP,to praise BFL Well, it was going to come out sooner or later.

Well, let's see,Phin gets 10BTC for shuttin the fuck up Phin has no balls or hes got a skeleton in the closet that Josh knows about & is extorting him with it...the latter is my best guess How much you getting BCP,to praise BFL I don't want to speak ill of Phin. I do have some concern, however, about his sudden change-of-heart and the backstory behind it. Something just doesn't feel right about that "relationship" to me, like Phin is being threatened in some way we aren't aware of. It's not normal for a songbird like him to suddenly stop singing his tune. I will,I don't like lyers, cheats, thieves or those who take bribes (which includes most of our politicians,if not all). That's what it is to me,a bribe to keep quiet.I say Bullshit!!!!!!!! Try to extort me & you'll be swiming with gators,as soon as you turn your back or wander to far from civilization I hope Phin chokes on some dinner he buys with that 10BTC Speaking of dinner, did you know that I'm heading to Florida to orchestrate Thanksgiving at Satoshi Forest to feed the homeless? I'm leaving out next Sunday and won't be back home to probably the following Monday. Historic days. 500. The hearing. 900. Wow. I went out for a couple hours to grab a bite and I lost all the climb to 900 and crash action... Does anyone know how big of a dump it was accross all exchanges? I was out picking up a load of barn wood today and heard on NPR that the high was $750. Upon reading this, then checking, for a brief moment I was a Bitcoin millionaire, at least on paper. Now, as soon InstaWallet returns my three wallets totaling 1,123+ BTC, I'll be golden. ~TMI BTCITW
