5142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: casascius and other physical bitcoins is a fraudulent idea on: December 01, 2013, 03:33:15 AM
Following a good will Casascius apparently opened the pandora box. Now people are really believe that the sealing proves that the physical bitcoin is secure. But of course it is not. A producer of a physical note or a coin can copy and preserve the private key. This situation is so strange. I bet that if this hysteria wouldn't decline we will face a wave of fraud associated with a physical pseudosecured coins in a future.

It would be better if Casascius spend the same amount of effort populating the idea that only self printed paper wallets are secure. Every such cold storage obtained from a second party as a present, gift or a payment should be immediately transferred to the safer wallet because private key could be copied and preserved by a grantor. Tamper-evident seal in this case doesn't provide the needed level of security because the private key could be copied before the sealing was applied on a coin.

Shame on you Casascius   Sad

Yeah, shame on you Casascius.  Cry Cry Cry

And shame on me for having this realism presented to me via a Newbie. I should've done my due diligence a long time ago on this shyster operation. Goes to show, never trust a Mormon, and don't deny that either, for we all know you live in Utah with probably ten wives. Speaking of, where the hell do you find time to produce these fraudulent coins of yours, seeing now that your hands are full with them ten wives and probably at least thirty children? Shame on you for conning the Bitcoin community for the sole purpose of providing for your ever extending family.

BTW, Mike, hope sales were swell during Black Friday.

And that, my friends, is another fine post by...

PS: Apologies if my sentiment was already expressed in this thread, for I didn't read past the OP because I was so livid.  Roll Eyes
5143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need to switch to mBTC soon on: December 01, 2013, 03:19:31 AM
Its still a need.

A solution is needed.

Anyone who claims this isn't an issue has no non-BTC friends or family.

Anyone who has non BTC friends or family that aren't loaded, has heard someone say "I cant buy in now.  Its too late.  Its too expensive".

This is exactly why gold collapsed from its all time high to ~$1,200+ USD--it was too expensive.  Roll Eyes Somebody needs to head on over to them gold forums and learnt them folks that they can still get in via buying only half an ounce of gold, thus when gold doubles in value, they'll still be able to earn a 100% ROI.

I'm not sure if that's possible with Bitcoin since it's a new thingie, but imagine if--only if--some Bitcoin scientist was able to tweak the code just a tad so that anybody in the world will not be forced to purchase a full bitcoin as part of their investment portfolio.

Regardless of what the smaller denominations will be, or are called, a person would only buy what they can afford, say a 1/4 of a bitcoin, and when bitcoins double again within the next week or month (maybe a tad longer), those lucky investors will double their money just like them folks who bought only a half ounce of gold, full ounce, or exactly one bitcoin.

Boy, I remember the days when people were able to purchase an entire barn, but when the greedy farmers who own the barns realized the value in barn wood, the prices skyrocketed, and now people are only buying 1/4 or 1/2 a barn because it has gotten too expensive for them to enter the market. Luckily, for me, I'm still able to buy complete barns but, I'm afraid, those days are numbered, hence starting to invest in goat turds and acorns before people become the wiser and push me outta those markets as well.

The new and official Bitcoin wallet address (of which I have no access to) has yet to receive its first entry, sans the transfer tx: https://blockchain.info/address/1B1TF1E6ohQkkbPmRLwnuHUhtxb8Up6Fde

To be entered into the Bitfie giveaway, simply forward between one satoshi and $.99 USD (99 US cents), inclusive. Come this time next year, one lucky winner could have one helluva Christmas spending power.

The Bible says nothing about Bitcoin. It would be a hell of a lot more impressive if it did.

LOL nothing in this thread will ever top this.

I had a vision from above, hence the crosspost. One could say that Satoshi works in mysterious ways.

And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Exactly what I thought upon reading the title of this thread. But, how do you go about making change when an item is not priced at exactly one bitcoin via a registered US dollar serial number?
5149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you also root for human disasters in near future so bitcoin price will rise? on: November 30, 2013, 02:41:47 PM
I think most fiat currencys will inflate like hell and alot of people will lose their work and get very poor. I guess that will happen. I dont want that, but i cant change that. I have to be prepared for that case. If others are to lazy and only watch football and silly Tv shows, thats their problem. Time will tell but so far, iam pretty satisfied with the solutions i made.

You forgot to mention playing with their xBox games they got at a discount at Walmart on Black Thursday/Friday. Next year, they'll be able to purchase same during Grey Wednesday or Tan Tuesday. I think we're still a few years out of having a Maroon Monday.

For what it's worth, down the road some man, woman or child you'll never meet will be thanking you for their $1.25 meal while you're setting in your favorite chair with a full bully playing a $50 game on an XBox.

5153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need to educate, time to sell bitcoins by the bit? (0.00000001) on: November 30, 2013, 06:42:25 AM
Why aren't we selling bitcoins by the bit yet?

Do you have to have 1.0 btc to "have bitcoins"? NO. You just need a bit!

Need a bit?

Got a bit?

Yeah I bought a bit for $1 each.

What?

A "bit" is already in use, a dictionary word in fact, and has been for decades.

We are trying  to educate people not confuse them. Conversation would be:

I've just bought a bit.
A bit of what?
No ... a bit.
You mean 1/8 of a byte???
No .... 0.00000001 of a bitcoin
How much of a bitcoin is that?
0.00000001
Sorry??

etc.
etc.

Smiley

Ain't ain't in the dictionary. (oh wait it is)

Words get removed added and changed all the time.

People understand bits of gold, and they will catch on to bits of bitcoin.

Regardless I still call 0.00000001 a bit.

And I always will.

"Bit" already has 2 meanings at least ....... and you want to add a third. Way to go.

By the way, its already got a name. A Satoshi.

I'm so grateful to the inventor of bitcoin, he's (they've) brought so much good into this world.

...but that's a shit name for 0.00000001.

It's too many syllables.

Calling them Sats or Naks would roll off the tongue easier.

And the better it rolls off the tongue, the better the songs will be, i.e. ...

Genesis. Now where have I heard that word before?

Austin is not very far from me. I'm almost tempted to make an appointment and take a drive myself... Hmm.

Well, golly gee! Austin, eh? It just so happens I'm heading in that direction on the way to Las Vegas next week, once I leave Pensacola, FL, after finishing up my obligations with Thanksgiving at Satoshi Forest. I was hoping to meetup up with Atlas, thereabouts, but this side trip off I-10 is right up my alley.

Somebody give me an address and I will definitely show up there. Full disclosure, it'll all be on my dime, accepting no gifts of any kind, albeit I may partake of some colored, flavored beverage to quench any thirst I may develop while on site, but that is all.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe edd of Bitcoin 100 lives in that neck of the woods, of which I desire to meet in person and buy him dinner.

All of the above I would love to include in my Road Trip thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=346861.0

If I understand correctly, this is important for example because your public address is not revealed until you spend from it.

How many freshly created public addresses that have yet to be funded and linked to is needed to negate the above?
