4741  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: January 20, 2020, 10:05:37 PM
The race for the title gets tighter as we approach the pivitotal point of the season. The UEFA Champions league would be resuming soon, and this means tighter fixtures and less time to rest. The league battle would be dependent on how far both teams go in the European competition and which they choose to prioritize.
Most people think the team which drops early has a better chance if succeeding locally, but psychologically, I believe it's the team which goes further which has a better chance.
4742  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: January 20, 2020, 09:58:28 PM
I think we all agree that Firminho's performance is not enough.
Comparing him to the other two forward players makes him seem less effective, but he contributes immensely to the team, both when he scores and then he doesn't. He has also scored some pretty important goals, particularly away from home

He's one of my favorite Liverpool players (I guess there's some personal attachments)
4743  Other / Meta / Re: nolulooow spammer everybody stands up against him on: January 20, 2020, 09:53:16 PM
Actually, I was surprised  why this spammer is still not ban
I checked it's profile and I realized this is biggest spammer
...
So I think to create a post against him to tell the whole board he is doing spamming for long time
Spam in extreme cases is a bannable offence (temporary first with a growing time frame till it's permanent) but users very rarely get banned for it, except when newbie accounts gets nuked.

Creating a post about every serial spanner would lead to span. Reporting to moderators is the best option
4744  Other / Meta / Re: [Discussion] A Bug in Bounty Campaigns – Subconscious Perception on: January 20, 2020, 09:44:31 PM
Avatar only bounties would be a little complicated to manage. As stated, they're not clickable and cannot redirect the user, also the image size is small and cannot give sufficient information asides from the websites name, if it's not self explanatory viewers will not be able to determine it's use at a first glance, and this makes them unlikely to Google search it. People have been known to search up a word or phrase when they know what exactly they're looking for.

4745  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion to change the obsolete social media from account info on: January 19, 2020, 06:21:39 AM
I agree with you. Profile page of users should be kept as simple and clean as possible. It is not good if the forum allows 10-20-50 lines to add external platforms' links. Now we have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Telegram, etc. But the list will become longer.
It's also unlikely that one would want to link their bitcointalk account to their Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. These platforms are not geared towards privacy rather exposure and would compromise a lot of accounts. It's a choice however and some users may want then available, but I don't think it's sufficient incentive tmfir the admins to implement considering the hint at how difficult it is.
4746  Other / Meta / Re: Proposes to enable these features for temp-ban users on: January 19, 2020, 06:15:10 AM
The forum has different ways of punishing accounts which breaks the rules, one of them is a signature ban where one loses signature privileges. I don't know if this can be permanent, but I've come across a couple of temporary ones. A ban is explicit, and is meant to block one from participating on the forum in any way.
If other privileges were added then it's not a ban rather a posting limitation.
4747  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you know if a gambling site is scam or not? on: January 16, 2020, 05:03:18 PM
...
+1 I believe all sites should be audited periodically as trusted sites can turn out to be outright scams or covertly engage in unethical behavior which would cause harm to it's users while not being definite scam attempts.
Going through the terms of service is very important, and this would be done regularly looking out for changes which have been made.
4748  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is the main purpose in gambling, always to make more money? on: January 16, 2020, 04:59:55 PM
I can understand those who argue that self-satisfaction could be the main purpose of gambling. But I think making a profit is always the ultimate goal.
It's a financial venture (and every financial venture is a gamble) were you invest and everyone would always want return on their investment.
I would predict games sometimes just for the fun of it, but if in investing in it then I wish to make money of my bet.
4749  Other / Meta / Re: Are "giving merit to those who need a bump to rank up" topics allowed today? on: January 16, 2020, 04:55:42 PM
I still think that merit system is kind of flawed in some way since it's not defined by any rules then just:"Give to what you think it's meritable", so with that if a threat requires for a specific answer, first 'correct' one should be merited and threat locked, but just take a look at those threads with 3 pages of dogshit information and the answer given in the second post.
It would be difficult to define other people's opinion by setting rules determining what should be merited and what shouldn't be. If this was ever to be the case, them users should not own smerits, an algorithm could be used to give merits to those posts which reach the criteria.
The human touch is what the merit system has, it may be flawed in some way but it doesn't need to be changed. Much less by adding an upvote or downvote system.
4750  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies, turn on the brain - it's not all true if it's in the forum! on: January 16, 2020, 04:49:35 PM
...
I would also like to see the price drop and allow more people to accumulate at the bottom.
The problem is not newbies being too trusting rather about them wanting to get profits as soon as possible. Anyone who fully, or partially understands the bitcoin network and the possibilities it holds, will not be too pertubed by intermittent drops in the price.
That being said, all information gotten from a public channel such as this should be filtered and only the relevant ones should be taken.
4751  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: January 16, 2020, 04:41:20 PM
Now I wish if Lukaku have been for them despite what kind of poor striker he is. Atleast would have been better than the current MU state right now.  Cheesy
Manchester United have been disastrous in the transfer market over the last few seasons. They sell pivotal players and fail to replace them. This is one of the reasons why u do not think changing the coach would bring much of a difference. Ole may be failing to get the best out of his squad, but his squad can not realistically compete with the league too teams.
Although considering what Rogers is doing with Leicester City, it is possible if you click well with your players.
4752  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Match of This Week : Liverpool vs. Man. Utd on: January 16, 2020, 04:37:08 PM
Liverpool
1.39

Draw
4.90

Manchester United
7.80
The odd for Liverpool to win the game is quite attractive and would be a good parley with a few other games. Liverpool have such better squad and are a formidable team to face at home. It's very difficult to see Manchester United winning this match.
I'll place small bet on MU to win this match lol, just for fun only and probably will do live betting once the match start after several minutes.
This would depend on how both teams approach the you've in the early minutes and possibly who gets the first goal. There's no point waiting for the game to start if you've already planned which team to bet on.
4753  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: January 15, 2020, 08:41:14 PM
It really was not intentional.
The updated handball rules do not respect intention when the play led to a goal. As far as a hand is involved the goal will be disallowed.

Wolves are arguably the better of the two teams. And with their form over the last couple of seasons, they are more deserving of a trophy and the league cups are their best shot at one.
4754  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can we overcome our gambling addiction! on: January 15, 2020, 08:34:39 PM
One way of fighting an addiction is by replacing it with a substitute addiction which is positive. This should only be used in extreme cases.
In mild cases, avoid casinos or areas where you can find yourself gambling, you can also delete apps on your device which makes it easier to engage in gambling. You can also draw up a personal memo of things you may have lost due to your addiction, this would motivate you to quit. Also, have a strong will.
4755  Economy / Speculation / Re: My opinion about the price movement of BTC on: January 15, 2020, 08:30:18 PM
Manipulations of the market value of bitcoin don't happen much in my opinion. The market cap is huge and it would take a lot to successfully influence the price. Whales are much better for holding and trading. Governments can easily influence the market, but this is only reflected in their respective countries.
The increase in the price has held on for a couple of days and we could possibly reach 9k in a couple of days. We could be looking at a new support level around the $8.5n mark. But this would have to be tested repeatedly first.
4756  Other / Meta / Re: Why some high rank still use copper membership? on: January 15, 2020, 08:21:35 PM
The reason could be any of the one's you listed.
I personally think it looks kind of cool on profiles, especially when their ranks already affords them the privileges that come with copper membership. This may be one of the reasons users do not remove it later on.
I prefer newbies ranking up naturally(except if they are promoting a service through their account) Copper membership gives a user the privileges of a member account, which requires 10 merits and 60 activity.
4757  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 15, 2020, 08:06:13 PM
No, the replacement isn't any better than Valverde.
I disagree with this point. I've been a fan of Barcelona for a very long time and I never liked the appointment of Valverde and didn't still even after he won two league titles. And almost went unbeaten throughout an entire campaign. He was defeated tactically on a number of big occasions and this cost Barcelona in consecutive European competitions.

Setién may not be good on paper, but I would pick him over a number of options on the list of coaches that rejected the Barcelona job.
4758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: January 15, 2020, 11:20:06 AM
there is a possibility he became a coach of Barcelona just because of 1 win at Camp Nou

If I remember correctly, Valverde was also the coach of Atletic Bilbao when they defeated Barcelona in the Spanish super cup, although I'm not sure if this could have has an effect on his appointment. In his defense has was prominent for grooming young talents and with the la Masia losing a couple of talents, we needed a coach who would integrate the youth team into the main team.
He was a gamble which didn't stick, Setién is also a gamble. His other qualities would be his football policy similar to that of Barcelona.
4759  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ways of earning merit. on: January 15, 2020, 10:27:56 AM
So the point here is, it doesn't matter how good your posts are. It matters how much are these appreciated by those that already have the merit to share. But what if that specific person doesn't want to share its own credits?
It does matter how good your posts are. That is the number one criteria for getting merits. Post quality and helpful content. It's possible to get merits for funny or quirky posts but this only accounts for a little of the total merit distribution. A quality post is subjective but overall there would be a correlation in what majority of forum member consider deserving of a merit.
But what if that specific person doesn't want to share its own credits?
Nothing can be done, only sources are lightly obligated to distribute their smerit. And much attention shouldn't be paid to who is distributing merits around. Concentrate more on who is benefiting from your posts.
4760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Match of This Week : Liverpool vs. Man. Utd on: January 14, 2020, 09:56:42 PM
Manchester United are the only team to have taken points from Liverpool in the English premier league so far this season and would be desperate to get any points from this match up.
Their form has been very erratic, from brilliant displays like the draw against Liverpool and the victory against Manchester City. To the loss to Watford. It's difficult to know which United to expect at Anfield. But with the consistency of Liverpool we know which team is likely to show up.
I would go with a 3 - 1 victory for Liverpool.
