As someone who has lived in China, this is not an unusual name.

i can't seem to log in. I tried resetting my password, which it sends me an email and I reset it.. and it says my password is wrong right afterwords! I tried resetting twice and no go! but before work I logged in from home and it was fine. hmm.
You still need to solve the captcha after reseting your password, so it will send you to the captcha page.

The site is down (at least for me) right now, you're probably loading content from your browser's cache. Try http://glbse.com/ . Strange. I can access both the US portal and the main site. Idk, something might be wrong with my firewall or something. http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/5944/glbse.pngThis is a problem with cloudflare, a number of users in the east asia region are having difficulty.

Right now GLBSE is down. Are you testing contingency plans ;-) ?
Someone just dumped a ridiculous number of gigamining shares; I suspect Nefario took it down on purpose to determine if someone had hacked in. This exactly, I brought the site down to be safe, but it was a legitimate trade, someone who had a huge stake in GIGAMINING needed some coins.

Sorry for the downtime, I got an email from a concerned investor, saying it looked like a hack.
Naturally this sort of thing scares the heebies out of me so I "turned off" GLBSE to investigate and stop and more potential hacks.
After investigating I found out who's account it was and called them, they just needed the coins.
Again sorry for the downtime.

I don't know, disaster planning sounds better, more dramatic :p
I'd think that disaster would be like situations where GLBSE is forcibly shut down by the authorities or the datacentre is attacked by a natural disaster. That would be more of an annoyance than disaster.

We've just completed our first step in disaster planning for GLBSE, the unfortunate (and hopefully unlikely) event of my death.
I am now happy to say that should I kick the bucket GLBSE would be able to continue on without me in full functionality.
Our next step is to try to have encrypted, near realtime snapshots of the GLBSE database stored offsite. Currently we have daily offsite backups.

GPG-signed contracts don't seem to be working. Check out bitfoo's and my respective pirate offers. The contracts listed on GLBSE don't parse, but those (exact same) contracts listed in the threads do verify. It seems the webpage code is doing something to the contracts.
Yes, we format the page for presentation replacing newlines with html's <br/> I'll put in a link to the unformatted text.

Thanks for the donation Goat, saw that and was wondering why was that there, then found this thread.
This was actually an old GLBSE wallet, I got the email from Goat and then dug it up from my backups.

This is actually a really great idea, I don't think the name registered fund is great, probably "transparent fund" would be more descriptive.
I'll have to add this to the list of changes for GLBSE

But as soon as they don't get executed right away, I'm a maker and won't have to pay fees - so why freeze them?
Thats a good point. Actually this is a holdover from the old fee system, and needs to be fixed.

|

Hmm, a glitch that theoretically will double GLBSE's take in trade fees? I bet that will get fixed any second now... /s
Fixed already (see the announcement). It's an interesting bug and is forcing me to make some serious changes in GLBSE's backend to account for this. I actually consider this a very serious issue, the result of fixing though will be a much faster GLBSE.

After the PPT.E auction, I've found some issues with our current setup.
Fortunately we found a temporary solution to this but it will cause GLBSE to operate at 1/3 of it's previous capacity of users/speed. This means over the next couple of days GLBSE will be more slow for most users and we'll probably start seeing the 504 gateway errors again.
In the meantime I'll be working on fixing this and getting GLBSE back up to full speed(faster actually).
In one sense the PPT.E bond auction actually went rather well(over 6K BTC), throughout the entire process GLBSE was responsive to all users, which is as we had promised it would.

^^ thank you for clearing that for me, PPT-PR
is redemption going to be automatic or bonds need to be put up for sale manually?
