I dont think they will qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season and end the league in 4th place.
It's much too early to rule any team out of UCL qualification especially those in the top ten and with a history of making it into Europe. We've seen how in the space of a few weeks Manchester United turned their form around and are now knocking on the door of a champions league spot. If Arsenal hits a purple patch they can close the gap in a couple of weeks.
4862  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: December 10, 2019, 02:01:39 PM
What does everybody think of Tottenham's chances to reach the semi finals under Mou?  Good...?  Bad?

They reached the finals under Pochetino last season, so the semi-finals this season is possible, but every team takes it one step at a time. It's possible for every English team to finish top of their respective groups, and Tottenham finishing second would avoid them all, they would also want to avoid the likes of PSG and Barcelona.
A good draw in the round of 16 and we can see what happens from there.
4863  Other / Meta / Re: I'm running for becoming the new Trading Discussion Moderator on: December 10, 2019, 05:43:53 AM
Being able to identify a problem doesn't mean you've to fix it yourself. If you feel that the trading discussion board needs cleaning up, then you can dedicate your time to it and report spam and low-value posts, there would be no reward for this service other than contributing to the success of the forum and possible reporter badges if it gets implemented.
You can also request for a sub forum without being a moderator, you just need to prove the necessity of the new section.
4864  Other / Meta / Re: Inappropriate negative trusts and feedback. Please avoid. on: December 10, 2019, 05:25:24 AM
AFAIK, posting in local boards and using an automated translation is a moderation issue and there is a penalty for it. I am not fluent in those languages and cannot determine if a translator was used, but such cases should be reported to the moderators for action. If they are advertising in those boards then they should also have those language options in their website.

The attention should be on organic growth and attracting users with the quality of their site and service rather than reaching out to a many people as possible through any means.
4865  Other / Meta / Re: DT Members Recognition on: December 09, 2019, 05:41:10 AM
Would it affect their interaction with others if they had a badge displaying their position?
I do not think a hierarchy is necessary in the forum, especially for positions that are not moderated by the forum such as Default Trust and merit sources. We are bound to figure out which they are and there are already lists available for both, but I don't think it has to be represented besides the posts they make on the forum.
4866  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: December 08, 2019, 06:17:49 PM

Yes, and Yes. 14 points after 16 games ia a very huge margin, Manchester City could effectively bounce back from their poor run of form, but it would take a dramatic drop in Liverpool's form to give them a chance at getting back in the race. As it stands, Liverpool are looking to extend the league on them every matchday.

Leicester City has been incredible this season, and I see no reason why they shouldn't maintain this form deeper into the season. Brendan Rogers gave a new breath of life to the team, and I feel they certainly deserve a top 4 finish at the end of the season.
4867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin addresses hits an all time high! on: December 08, 2019, 01:00:52 PM
Not necessarily it means Bitcoin adoption is going high since all addresses have zero bitcoin.

No, it says all addresses recorded has more than 0 bitcoins in them. I have edited the OP to remove any ambiguity
When bitcoin adoption will go high we will have merchants all over the world that will accept bitcoin, government policies in favor of bitcoin and things like that.

You are describing the situation when bitcoin adoption reaches its peak, it is always on the increase since it's inception, with a growing list of merchants accepting it and governments approving it.
4868  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin addresses hits an all time high! on: December 08, 2019, 12:37:39 PM
In was recently reported that the number of unique Bitcoin addresses holding an excess of 0 bitcoins i.e more than zero bitcoin in them just got to an all time high
Quote
Bitcoin recently hit a new milestone and an all-time high for its addresses. It currently has more addresses with BTC in it than at any other time in its history...
Quote
...Bitcoin now boasts some 28.39M addresses with more than 0 BTC in them. This tops the previous all-time high seen in January 2018 when the network hit 28.384M active addresses. The story was first reported by analyst Alex Thorn (@intangiblecoins)...
Full article: https://beincrypto.com/bitcoin-addresses-hit-a-new-all-time-high/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

This shows an evident increase in the adoption of Bitcoin all over the world, although unique addresses does not necessarily translate to unique users of the network, it shows the growth of the network.
Is this evidence of Bitcoin going mainstream?
Would an ATH in addresses lead to a new ATH in the price?
4869  Other / Meta / Re: Hijacked account, please paint.. on: December 08, 2019, 08:55:50 AM
^^
The majority of account sales happen covertly and a strict policy to attach a tag or warning cannot be implemented, DT members do leave feedbacks for it when it is discovered and proven beyond doubt.
4870  Other / Meta / Re: sMerit Anti-Hodling Scheme on: December 08, 2019, 08:43:23 AM
If I only gave merits to exceptional posts, the majority of them would probably be handed out to Legendary members and I wouldn't be helping members rank up, which is an important thing to a lot of people.

I judge the quality of a post according to rank. Newbies can be rewarded for curiosity, like asking a technical question about a topic that shows a willingness to learn. This could earn them merit but is less likely to earn a Hero or Legendary member any. The quality of a user's post is expected to improve with an increase in rank. So the longer a person stays on the forum, the more activity they get and the more knowledge they acquire, and finally, this is reflected in their merit count.
4871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dominance may be down, but a key bullish sign for BTC! on: December 08, 2019, 07:36:32 AM
For me, there is really a relationship between the market capitalization and dominance that we have now on the market.

Market capitalization is related to the dominance of a currency, and it is also an important factor, in the forex market the amount of traded currency is recorded per day. In cryptocurrency, those figures can be manipulated by the developers of a certain currency and also exchanges.
It is the multiplication of the value and amount in circulation. So buying a few coins for a certain value boosts the price and then reflects on the market cap, this makes it an unreliable statistics l with which to monitor cryptocurrencies.
4872  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: December 07, 2019, 09:34:40 PM
and I am not expecting Mallorca to score a goal as they are not having a good away record.

They scored two already, although the match is already all but decided with Barca already scoring four goals. However, Barcelona's defense still raises lots of concerns. And in a quite uncharacteristic manner, Ter Stegen made a mistake that led to a goal for the opposition.
The attack was quite lethal and put on a show tonight, it was nice to see Griezmann get on the score sheet.
4873  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: December 07, 2019, 09:28:45 PM
Manchester City may be lacking the high level of hunger which they had the past two seasons, after winning back to back premier league titles, it's very easy to lose focus and seem a little complacent. Liverpool on the other hand have been anxiously waiting for their chance at a league title for about 3 decades. This may be what separates both teams at the end of the season.

Leicester are emerging as the closest contenders, I am inclined to think City would be the second best team, but I would not want to underrate the foxes.
4874  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I earned my first merit How to use it. on: December 07, 2019, 04:30:30 PM
But how do I use this merit?

Merits are not used, but they reflect the rank of a user; 9 more would get you to member rank (with the required activity, 99 more would make you a full member.
Merits also generate sendable merits (smerits) which are given to other members, each merit generates half the amount in smerits, you have 0.5 smerits now, but it doesn't reflect on your profile, if you earn one more, you would have 1 smerit.
Edit: TryNinja beat me to it.
4875  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie gives a suggestion on: December 07, 2019, 06:52:37 AM
If you found someone selling Bitcointalk accounts you must report them on DT members so that those who selling accounts will receive negative trust and flags.

Alternately you can start a newbie warning flag against such users yourself but you will need at least three more support than opposition for it to be active.
You can read more about the flag system here [GUIDE] Overview of the trust flags

The instances you mentioned are not direct scams so a flag would be inappropriate, better to follow the above advice and try to get a DT to leave a feedback on the account.
4876  Other / Meta / Re: Are we giving Red trust feedback to easy? on: December 07, 2019, 06:30:22 AM
What options we have:
- Give neutral feedback
- Talk with another member
- Ask advice and consult other members before giving red trust
I do not believe in giving neutral rating for positive or negative feedback, it should rather be used as a note when you are undecided, for example when a new user has a username similar to that of an older member, it's not a clear scan attempt, but it is worthy of note.

Also, trust flags are now mainly used for scam attempts, and feedback for overall trustworthiness and attitude of a user which should be monitored and recorded over a period of time before giving out feedback; positive or negative. I agree that there may have been some bad calls by DTs in the past but it's much fewer not with the new trust system.
4877  Other / Meta / Re: Option to disable signatures as alternative to self-moderated on: December 06, 2019, 09:03:27 PM
This would be a good idea if it gets implemented, but I have a few reservations:
- It would likely push more replies to low-quality discussions (threads) which displays signature and the regular bumping would make them occupy the first pages of the boards.
- It could lead to more threads started for the purpose of being used as signature boosters.

I did a quick run through the Bitcoin discussion board and out of the 40 topics in the first page (excluding the 3 stickies)
14 topics were started by newbies,
11 topics by Jr. Members,
2 topics by members,
2 topics by full members,
4 topics by a Sr. Member,
1 topic by a hero member,
3 topics by Legendaries.
Rank does not necessarily determine post quality, however, if the majority of topics are started by newer members it's less likely they would use this feature.

Its advantage is that it would keep quality discussions spam-free without the need for censorship.

...
I appreciate your merits and the encouragement from you and others on this thread. I would continue to contribute to the forum as best as I can. Fingers crossed, in the hope that it doesn't take over a year.
...
I agree, the forum should be interactive, and knowledge should be shared between members. But most do not make any effort to join discussions qualitatively.

Edit: Created this thread to be a motivation for lower-ranking members. The forum rewards efforts.
Moving this back to beginners and help

Lots of threads similar to this have been made recently, and while it's a little cliche, it's also evidence of the fact that the merit system is working and it's possible to rank up organically if you put effort into what post and try to be helpful to others while being relevant

A little over four months ago I became a full member on the forum, and I now earned enough merits to become a Sr. Member, and I'm now a Hero member. Mine is not the fastest rise to this rank, nor is the rank the highest, but it is a milestone achievement in my Bitcoin and bitcointalk journey. This journey has been very beneficial and has improved my knowledge of various aspects of the technology and has allowed me to explore many many other areas of it. I could make a long-winded post about my ranking up, but newbies should recognize the keyword which is effort.

I use the phrase: forum made, even though all my merits are earned, because I recognize the contribution of the community members towards mine and the ranking up of so many other members and also because what I post is gotten from what I learn when I read the post of others.

The obvious next target is Hero Legendary Member, but first I'll have to learn more, improve on my discussions and also explore the other areas of the forum.
