501  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Sign/Verify Messages Important? on: April 29, 2023, 11:59:53 PM
There is one more question I want to ask is how important it is to sign a Bitcoin address message because from several sources that I have read so far Bitcoin is safe from hacking.
You're wrong with this perspective and I think you need to better understand how Bitcoin will work.

It's been said above, a signed message is the only way to verify ownership but there's nothing to do with your Bitcoin security.
Staking your address here in the forum is only to prevent hacking your account here in the forum and prove that it is yours by staking your Bitcoin address.

You can learn more about Bitcoin security or crypto in general here.
502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An RV vehicle, BTC and the open world to explore. on: April 29, 2023, 11:38:45 PM
How has BTC or the use of cryptocurrency been of help?
IMO, the portability and borderless of crypto or Bitcoin makes it helpful.
It can be easily transported across borders without the need for traditional financial institutions or government oversight as long as Bitcoin is accepted in your location you freely use it.  This makes them a useful tool for people who engage in off-grid living or frequent travel.

I have a friend that talked about this and try to explore different places as he said, he is a crypto enthusiast who knows how to use Bitcoin as a payment.  He purchased a Starlink RV subscription for his RV van that was recently used for Youth camping.  He said he wants to try for months off-grid living (outside the country)and for sure since he has Bitcoin, he will use it.
503  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can i reverse a Bitcoin transaction? on: April 29, 2023, 11:13:43 PM
Does this imply that I have lost my BTC and will never be able to reverse or recover it?

Is there no way or platform to reverse erroneous transactions, especially when the reasons are genuine?
It seems the amount isn't quite enormous if you've lost it, rather than others having a very costly experience to learn.

Once it has at least 3 confirmations it's unlikely to apply even an RBF because it's totally confirmed transaction.
Once a transaction has been confirmed, it becomes a permanent part of the blockchain, and its inputs are considered spent.  So you need to move on and learn from this mistake.  It has been said above, if you've used a centralized wallet and you know where your Bitcoin landed, the only way to reverse the transaction would be to convince the recipient to send the funds back or to use a third-party service that specializes in recovering lost or stolen Bitcoin but it has a less chance of this and if the amount is worth it to recover.
504  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie are wearing avatar in their accounts on: April 27, 2023, 12:13:16 AM
With this thread, I found an answer to your question.

Avatars were disabled due to some kind of exploit back around October 2013.
They were re-enabled in 2015 on April 1st (it wasn't a prank lol) and also the Full Member requirement was introduced.
So regarding the UID range my educated guess would be 1 - 155000

So beyond this date October 2013, all members on this forum can able to wear avatars.  So they're here for a long time.
505  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: When Trustwallet doesn't show incoming transactions on: April 26, 2023, 11:26:00 PM
Hello,

I just noticed that Truswallet does not always show incoming transactions, but the balance is correct.

I have since read a lot about this Truswallet (on this forum) and have seen that it is not recommended. So I'm going to try this unstoppable wallet. (https://unstoppable.money/)

In the meantime, why are some incoming transactions not notified? Have someone an explanation ?

Thank you

It looks like this unstoppable money is new, if you are planning to try using this unstoppable apps, observe first. Let others try it first, then find out what their review experience is about using unstoppable money.

Now to your question about the trust wallet, regarding your transaction using their apps, is there still a problem here? Have you tried to ask the support of trustwallet the question you are looking for an answer to the transaction you made?

I'm trying Sparrow wallet. About truswallet, I will leave some satoshis to see what happens if I reinstall it. As said the funds are coming and the global balance is ok. It's strange and does happen to someone else too.
I'm new to these both wallets and I never heard of them, so I quickly having some small research and found out that both wallets are good and non-custodial which I think it's better than the Trustwallet.

If I were in your place, to choose Sparrow Wallet and Unstoppable Wallet, I will choose Sparrow wallet.  Why?
Because you can customize the fee which Unstoppable wallet doesn't have which in fact, it has a higher fee since they've used their own integrated decentralized exchange (DEX).

About Trustwallet, as I've heard, they're buggy wallets when it comes to transactions and you can get a delay notification.
And their explanation about that which somewhere I read but I didn't remember, said that the notification process for transactions on the blockchain network isn't controlled by Trust Wallet, but rather by the underlying blockchain network itself, meaning to say that no single entity has control over the network and transactions are verified and recorded by nodes on the network.
506  Other / Archival / Re: [SERVICE] Web3 Python scripts [SERVICE] on: April 26, 2023, 10:53:33 PM
My wallet has been hacked and my phrase also compromised. Hacker added auto bot to send all network gas fee included Bnb, Eth, Matic, arbitrum chain. now i am looking for script to add with my wallet and it's must be faster than hacker bot.
Have you quickly transferred any remaining funds from your compromised wallet to a new, secure wallet?
Because AFAIK, it's quite challenging to compete with a bot that is optimized for speed and efficiency, and trying to do so might lead to further losses or security risks.

Here's my advice that could possibly work as of now, you should revoke any API keys or access tokens that may have been compromised during the hack and check all the exchanges or services that you've connected to your wallet and revoke any API keys or access tokens that may have been granted to third-party services.

I might be thinking that you didn't want to change your claiming wallet address from airdrop but IMO, that's necessary as of now.
507  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there any point to start trading with 20$? on: April 25, 2023, 11:32:38 PM
My question is, are you ready for this?
I mean, are you knowledgeable enough when it comes to trading analysis whether it's technical or fundamental?

Investing $20 is a good start, but it's important to manage your expectations and not expect too much too soon.  Trading requires patience, discipline, and a solid understanding of the market, and it can take time to develop these skills.  I repeat, don't expect too much, I rather choose to gain experience with that $20 than expecting a good profit.  Trading isn't all about profit, sometimes we need to spend to gain experience and learn about it.
508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC treasure hunt on: April 25, 2023, 11:26:05 PM
I enjoyed reading replies on Tweet but there's a comment there that I tend to agree with most.
If that's true, would he mind telling us the public key address so that we can verify if that's true so we're not wasting our time?

It could be there are no 20 Bitcoins in that wallet, that amount has a huge value as of now, and it could be doubtful to anyone to try to waste their time or just intended for a pure promotion.

I haven't heard of this particular treasure hunt or seen any mention of it in the forum, I'm sure there are many other Bitcoin enthusiasts who would be interested in joining you to crack the puzzle.  You could try posting about it in some of the Bitcoin forums like "Reddit" to see if anyone else has any information or would like to collaborate with you.
509  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will April be a red month? on: April 25, 2023, 10:59:35 PM
Why do I always rely on this website when seeking a prediction?   Cheesy
It seems it is near to accurate results and based on their forecast, this month seems a Bitcoin correction price until the month of May.
Edit: I found archives of that website's predictions from 2017-2019 which were completely wrong  Grin

Then notably by end of 2017 these mildly bullish forecasts changed to ultra-bullish, predicting $45K by end of 2018. The predictions in 2021 weren't much better either Roll Eyes

*Was totally right about this statement, the forecast from February this year was for sub $10K
Ohh I see, so they eventually change their forecast per month maybe.
I have been following this site for how many years when predicting the market but only for a reference not seriously believing in them.

This was what I also noticed, every time I open it and seek the answer to my prediction it changed.
Anyway, thanks for the clarifications.

Yes, IMO.
I'm convinced that this month will have a long price drop in the market and eventually show red colors on the chart.
But I don't think it will exceed $25k, it will remain in a range of $25k to $27k which I think is the new starting point to recover the price.
511  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Beginner mistakes and how to avoid them on: April 24, 2023, 11:53:30 PM
* Over trading
* Lack of trading plan
* Failure to use stop-loss
It seems all these components have one source and it's "knowledge".
This is very important in trading so that you can execute very well and have minimal losses.

Those traders who didn't use stop-loss orders may also be more likely to engage in emotional trading, as they may be more inclined to hold onto losing positions in the hope of a market reversal.  It should also monitor their stop-loss orders regularly and adjust them as needed based on market conditions.

Another is to develop your trading strategy, it can help you stay focused, avoid impulsive trading decisions, and increase your chances of success.
If you don't have all of these, it's hard to deal with the market movement.
512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do when there is a bear run in Bitcoin on: April 24, 2023, 11:17:37 PM
Do not panic:

Evaluate dollar-cost:

Have a clear investment plan:
These are very important when you're investing in Bitcoin which I quoted above and in addition to this, set your own goal in making a profit.
Usually, the most recommended when there's a bear market is to have a DCA way of purchasing Bitcoin until the market will recover from a bear.  You should always remain calm and avoid making any hasty decisions that lead you to become panic selling.

Accumulating more Bitcoin at a lower cost and doing DCA purchases when there's a bear market could lead to higher profits in the future when the market eventually recovers.
513  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Help] Newbie here. Is this website safe to use? on: April 24, 2023, 10:59:12 PM
Based on my short research, it seems that the site is not that bad and I don't see any scam report.
Based on this, https://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/getcoinsmarket.com.

I don't think it's reliable but it seems they are in 10 months of service and don't have a scam report.
I didn't try this exchange but I recommend using a non-custodial wallet to receive Bitcoin as your wallet as well.  Electrum might be an ideal one.

If you want to proceed, do your own research as well, and here's how to check legitimate websites.

  • Domain age
  • Contact information
  • Reputation
  • Last one before using, reading the terms

The best thing you can do now is to ask for the Bitcoin transaction using the link given above which I doubt you've been scammed because it asks you to create an account.
514  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be aware of what to do as a new user to prevent losing your account. on: April 23, 2023, 11:59:12 PM
Considering that the number of banned accounts is increasing daily and over time, I want to take this opportunity to offer advice to new users of bitcointalk.org.
In my observation, the rate of accounts getting banned is actually reducing as the forum seems to be getting more lenient in hitting the ban hammer on a user.
To avoid getting banned;
• Don't plagiarize,
• Don't spam,
• Don't spread malware.
There's more.
  • Don't join altcoin giveaways

I personally experienced this before, but fortunately, not a permanent ban.  Though that wasn't, but it hurts you won't open your account within 15 days as a participant and the user who hosts the giveaways is 30 days, correct me if I'm wrong.

It's important to always follow the official rules of the forum.
515  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Maybe I should wait before owning my bitcoin on: April 23, 2023, 11:50:59 PM
(.....)
I will let this be my guide, will wait till the Buy has the highest vote. Money investment need to be carefully planned. This is just my plan, you can advice or give it kudos.
What vote do you mean? Do you want other people to decide when you will buy/sell Bitcoin? I don't think that is a good way to own Bitcoin or to do investments.
I don't know why people asking what is the perfect time of buying Bitcoin which in fact you can buy anytime and wait until it has a profit and then cut your profit at you target range.  IMO the perfect advice could be, to buy Bitcoin on the DCA way, every time it has a correction that's the perfect time for it because we'll never know where the price heading at.

The reading of Neutral has more vote of 10 than the Sell that has 6 and Buy that has 8.
So there are only 24 people who participated in the voting pool which do you believe?
516  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I lost my btc after chipmixer was taken over on: April 23, 2023, 11:23:53 PM
I used chipmixer in March. I thought the private key he gave me would be deleted, but it turned out that it was not deleted. On March 16, my btc was transferred by the police. I didn't commit a crime, it's just for privacy, so is there any way to recover my btc Embarrassed Embarrassed
I'm sorry for your loss but I think you should move on, the Bitcoin was seized on CM might be possible that it may be subject to forfeiture proceedings, which would make it difficult to recover.  Even though you weren't obtained through illegal means but in the eyes of those who seized ChipMixer was illegal or include criminal activities and the reason they shut down the service.

How big it is that you still wanted to recover?  If that is so, it's better to consult a qualified lawyer for this.

517  Other / Meta / Re: Scam accusation of a gambling site on: April 23, 2023, 10:55:29 PM
...but some users on this forum posted that they should move the thread to scam accusation board.
I rather suggest creating another thread on the scam accusation board and following the scam report format.  I don't think there's a problem if you'll create another thread on the scam accusation board after posting on the gambling main board.
Bringing on the scam accusation board without valid evidence seems useless IMO.

So I tend to agree with this.
If its more on complains, rants, how bad their CS, service, etc. the gambling discussion board is good. But if it has more information, evidence, chat logs, etc. and trying to seek help, scam accusation board should be better and the thread should be moved there. But of course, creating topics on the 2 board is okay too as long it falls on what i have mentioned. Just my opinion.
518  Economy / Economics / Re: SPENDING MORE THAN YOU EARN on: April 21, 2023, 11:59:22 PM
👉👉Shopping with a list

👉👉Control your grocery list
These are very effective and in addition to this is "create a budget".
Creating a monthly budget that outlines your income and expenses.  This will give you a clear picture of your financial situation and help you plan your spending accordingly, and through your list, you can monitor your expenses which is prioritizing your needs over wants.  Make sure to allocate your income to necessary expenses before spending on discretionary items like dining out, shopping, or entertainment.

I freshly remember those old days when my grandma was alive and said, when you earned $5 a day, don't spend over that amount on a day, always keep $1 for future investment or set aside a portion of your income into a separate savings account to build an emergency fund that can cover unexpected expenses like medical bills.
519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you look for information about new project/coin? on: April 21, 2023, 11:54:43 PM
Yes, you can learn a lot from the project website. But it's good to find different sources of information when you want to invest in something. Also, it is good to know what people are talking about it through, e.g., social media.
I tend to agree but make sure the group is genuine.
I've done this before, I joined a bounty campaign such as social media and I followed the progress of the project but I saw in their social media don't have genuine members, there was no clear engagement and it should have been discussion engagement on their social media profiles.   Ask yourself, "are there active discussions and responses from the community, or is it just a one-way conversation?", and lastly, check if their followers and engagement are genuine or if they have purchased fake followers or engagement, same as Twitter or more worse Telegram.

So you must be careful also what you're following on social media.
520  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help me in choosing wallet before I make mistake on: April 21, 2023, 11:37:27 PM
The popular choices I know and hear from people are Binance, Blockchain and Freewallet. Which one should I choose? I am just starting my bitcoin owning journey and it will be kind of the senior guys to show the way.

You can suggest better ones if there are any.
None of them, don't choose centralized exchanges nor centralized wallets, especially Freewallet.org, it will ruin your entire investment, believe me.
You may choose any of these wallets as long as an open-source wallet.

Those are reliable wallets to choose when you're holding your Bitcoin in a long term, I just want to remind you about the golden rule of crypto, "Not your key, not your coin".
