501  Economy / Services / Re: GreenCoin Signature Campaign- Solving the Carbon Problem on: November 12, 2014, 06:14:13 AM
The amount of people who respond without even taking the time to read whether or not there are campaign slots open lead us to believe that people don't actually care about what we are trying to do - they just want their payment. I'll let you know in due time what our decision is, and why we've made it.

Thanks.

Perhaps, if you decide to keep the campaign open or try again at some point, the conditions should be amended to include a minimum number of posts dedicated to Greencoin.  I like the idea and would have placed more effort into it if I didn't just view it as a sig campaign (which is a passive action and something I assumed that those involved were running points).

I appreciate the payment and I will not change my signature immediately (My choice; off the clock so to speak)...I have no issue with that; this is my first sig campaign and I am more ideological than financial minded.

But I think that requiring a minimum amount of posts for Greencoin specifically would do more than just a signature.  Discussion is awesome and I would have done that (been trying to rationalize your quote with my participation for the past day)...specifically, discussion based on the real world applications that you guys are working on.

Again, thank you....I hope there is still an opportunity to help you guys.

This is looking like it is 63% sold out.

Will there be substantial progress by the end of the year?  I think that 'calling out' Maidsafe in the OP was bold.  While I see the value here in theory, this still seems like a different project then what they are working on.

It's enticing for sure and I am a few clicks away...

Edit to add - 37% sold out; a minor error on my part.
503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: November 11, 2014, 07:41:03 AM
Does MaidSafe run on top of Mastercoin or was that only for the IPO?

A great recent article on what MaidSafe is, its only utilizing MSC protocol to facilitate the proxy token for the actual Safecoins when the network launches in Jan 2015.

http://bravenewcoin.com/news/what-is-maidsafe-simplifying-decentralization-for-the-masses/
Is it confirmed to launch in January?

No.  Nothing is confirmed regarding launch/specific date.

That doesn't mean that progress isn't being made...peruse https://www.maidsafe.org/...for more information.

I've become Sr. member and changed signature to senior recently. I was full when i've signed up.

Same here.  I expect  to be paid per the conditions I signed up as - A Full member.

It's only fair based on the allocated funds at the beginning of the campaign....

Looks like someone is trying to stock up on more maidsafecoin each time the price dips. I guess they want to accumulate without driving the prJulyice up too much.

It's been happening like that for months...I buy when I can; I just don't have those resources but I get notifications on my mobile every time the price moves 5% and the pattern is very consistent.

Which program are you using?

Bitcoin Checker (Android).  You can set the percent movement on any exchange and it allows you to synch with any exchange to update their catalog...It's accurate to within a few minutes.

Edit - I also use Crypto Currency Converter (Android)...this one actually changes in realish time between exchanges with higher volume.  Noticed it with Maidsafe (Polo/MasterX) and more so since Mintpal has flittered away..but this one has a worse real time attention; still good for general use...

excepts the asks are much weaker

Relative to when?  I bought less than a week ago at 51 and the asks on both exchanges are higher as of now...

As for coinmarketcap, the price has increased a bit since it was switched over to the assets category.  It should also be noted that once the switch to Safecoin occurs, it will return to being listed with currencies since it will no longer be a Mastercoin asset (it's a token now until the network goes live and occurred as a function of the crowd sale).

There is the beginning of a discussion on promotion, though, on the Maidsafe forums.  Some are thinking that there is no need for it due to the nature of the project...but I am sure that any and all perspectives are welcome...; )

to before that 1.8million buy

And I disagree.  I've been watching it like a hawk and we have seen nothing but growth.  Any weaker signs (which I don't recall since 51) from a market perspective are likely the result of bots.

Regardless...today was a pretty good day regarding asks...; )

What is the point of those 4 sentences?

No offence to the poster.

It just seems like the effort to post that would have been better spent elsewhere.

Would you prefer if every address was given 40 CLAMs? Or 400? 4000?

Do you realise it wouldn't have made any difference at all, since it would effectively just be a relabelling? Much like using "bits" instead of "bitcoins", and having one be worth a million of the other.

It was an honest question/rumination.

I don't really like getting involved in threads if I don't intend on being a part of the community.  If the difference is moot and the Clams are better left unclaimed as opposed to purchasing on an exchange than why wouldn't I do that?  Would that not be better for the community at this point?

Honest question...and I have no preference on the bits debate since I have no issues with the distribution model.  I was posting at that time with a 'bit' of ignorance which has been correctedish...

I completely forgot about this one.  I might have a BTC wallet that works with this.  What are the average amount coins sent to each wallet?  23?

I averaged 4.1 per.  But I didn't have much in any of my wallets.

Than my next question is this...what is the point for 4 clams?

No offense to the dev.  I remember when I first read about this and thought it was a novel idea.  It just seems like the effort to claim the clams is better spent elsewhere...

Is there an ETA yet for when the switch to Safecoin occurs?

TestNet 2 launched recently so we are waiting for the release of public installs which will let us help test their network (upload to the network though uploads won't persist to TestNet 3).  So Testnet 2 needs to finish, then Testnet 3, then Beta/Launch...

It was estimated 4-6 weeks per Testnet so a rough estimation could be inferred however I would anticipate a bit more time than that.  There is still a lot happening and public interaction with the Network is just around the corner!

It happened again yesterday. Price started dropping a bit and suddenly 2 million maidsafe bought: https://masterxchange.com/market.php?currency=maid

The trollbox on MasterXChange thought it might be Marc Andreessen.  Regardless of who it was, there is a pretty awesome Twitter exchange between Marc and someone else regarding Maidsafe...https://twitter.com/pmarca/status/528267979029348354

Anywho...the price has returned to roughly what it was prior to the major purchase...

you're right - i remember the post earlier now that you mention it.

somebody trying to intentionally incriminate it appears in this case.

It's a moderated thread.  Lot's of things get posted.  At the time (check your context) synechist was trying to be civil and accommodate an onslaught of posts.  It's not an issue in my opinion (which I care not if you value, Good Sir).

Your name is already trashed all because of the people you deal with so please own it and just do the right thing and sort this mess out so we can all move on!

And my response is merely to quote...

The primary reason your (tylerderden and unicornfarts) posts were deleted earlier is the way your opinions were presented.

It's one thing to present an opinion.

It's another to bash people over the head with it. A community must be addressed with civility and respect if you hope to be heard. Unless you speak to people with their perspective in mind - and thus with empathy - your posts will get deleted.

- Emotively loaded terms,
- Unsubstantiated claims that aim to discredit a project,
- and posts that abuse or attack people,

are various ways in which a primary lack of empathy is played out.

Please take this to heart for the future. You're very welcome to be members of this community, but not on just any terms.

I think that while it is a good reminder it is likely falling on deaf eyes.  I moderated a forum for five years with 2 million uniques a month and our main focus was encouraging civil discussion.  I worked really well over there because these points are easily communicable because a lot of the time they just didn't know how to discuss heated arguments with people and would take things personal.

This forum is so much different...primarily because of the financial nature of the topic.  If you manage to win one over with logic and I'll buy you lunch...

You do pretty well at holding yourself against the tides...I try and keep updated on this thread and I am unsure how you keep your composure much of the time.
517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XC][XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy Platform / Encrypted XChat / Pos on: October 30, 2014, 08:56:01 PM
The amount of PR I could get done without Bitcointalk threads would be staggering.

Do we even need the BTC talk threads?  There are some other coins who do just fine within their own forums.  All we have here is a place for people to show up and directly bug you guys.  They create their own threads anyway so why put up with it?

Honest question - there might be good reasons and perhaps I am so frustrated with reading drivvle that I think this is a good idea...

I know this has been discussed already, but I wish XC came along when i was a more experienced investor. I got caught bagholding and I am at a loss but Ive been lucky to get in on some good pumps and make up for the loss. I still have high hopes for XC and plan to hold onto it now. I was stupid and put 90% of my investment into XC and have lost more than 60% ATM, but my 10% that I have placed into day trading has almost made up for my loss here.

I have accepted the fact that XC is a long term investment, the price now does not reflect its true value and will not for several months it seems. Considering REV 3 will be our biggest milestone yet, I am excited to see the outcome. I think people that are buying XC now are smart because they know they will be able to make some good profit during the REV 3 release.

Generally I don't comment on the price as I have always felt that the project, technology, and commitment by the team would be reflected in the market in the long run

But I am just has "disappointed" with the current price as everybody else is.  However that has zero impact on whats coming in the days, and months ahead.  The goal has always been to embrace the B2B and the B2C markets, and Mobile w/ Point of Sales as primary driving factor.

I am a firm believer in the power of decentralized blockchain based technology and I am committed in taking XC to the next level.  Clearly monetizing the nodes with blockchain 2.0 technology is the future and bridging existing markets with this technology is the key to success.

Dan

Some of the overly entitled demands being made are just ridiculous.  I took a hit as well and I still have nothing but confidence.  In fact, thanks for making it easier for me to get more XC Inc ITO shares.

So tired of the otherwise invested people coming in here and just being complete wads about every small little detail.  I have read every page and I still see no reason why XC deserves all of this.

Every crypto has had issues due to low volume (which keeps getting smaller thanks to exchange hacks) and the pervasive crypto mentality that "if you don't deliver an artificial intelligence that will make you sandwiches while you're going to the moo0n then you're a scam".

I'm tired of the people who cry at everything in this thread...my goodness.
