501  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you preffer your dealer talkative or not? on: January 24, 2024, 10:50:45 PM
~
If I had to choose then talkative really. I like it to my experience whenever I visit old-school baristas. Whenever there are not many customers I always try to engage in a conversation and they always return it back rather enthusiastically. Not that it happened all the time, but often enough. I'd liken that experience to whenever I gamble really since I feel like it just heightens the experience itself. Not to mention you'd probably have a few other players in the table itself joining the conversation. Might become a bit too intense at some point though but then that's understandable since it is still a game we're playing on.

Naturally, there would be instances that I'd like silence, but I prefer conversing more compared to the former. Kind of ironic if you consider it since I much prefer gambling online. Then again i guess I find my conversations online in a different way, e.g. discord with friends and the like.
502  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Transparent dices ? on: January 24, 2024, 10:02:12 AM
~
I mean, they already made it transparent after all, they can easily rig it with the same method they tried to get the dice itself. And they can rig it in many other ways as well since the source is themselves. Unless ofc it was supervised and provided by a supervising gambling board for that specific country, which I don't think even happens tbf but hey, the idea could be there to prevent tampering.

Anyway, I don't think I'd mind. I mean if it were ever revealed I'd probably be like "damn it" but that's about it. At the end of the day I pretty much agreed to play a game rigged in the first place for the house, adding a bit more certainly doesn't seem like that big of a deal. And thinking of "what if" situations at that point is just exhausting imo.
503  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The need to control your emotions as a football fan. on: January 23, 2024, 11:02:25 PM
~
It was probably just a rush of emotions. While I do think it's not proper since according to the tweet, they were journalists so some amount of professionalism was expected, but considering the fact that a LOT of people expected them to win and they themselves are probably avid fans, they just really wanted answers as to why the teams performance was rather subpar. This isn't about sportsmanship I think anymore rather it's about erm nationality stuff? Since the team that represented them and they supported was rather disappointing.
504  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: While placing bet what comes your mind on: January 23, 2024, 10:29:26 PM
~
It's probably the dopamine kicking in and talking. It's usually caused by either an intense rush of emotions hence the high dopamine, or that you're experiencing a low after experiencing high dopamine so much that your gut wants you to hit those big wins once more (to experience it again) hence why you keep thinking you can win something you've never won before. It's not that you "can" but rather it's that you "want" to.

I've definitely felt it before. I just have various ways to stop it like having a limited budget or having a limited time to play. That way I can keep it strictly under control.
505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What You will do in this situation? on: January 23, 2024, 09:48:40 AM

I'd definitely try to entice him to gamble in sports. That way I can have a new friend to talk to about gambling. It's these little connections that you sometimes unexpectedly make that makes it quite fun at random moments. Not to mention it's an easy connection if I ever needed to ask their team again to clean my house lmao.

Well that's only if he tries it out though. If he keeps on playing slots then I might still keep in touch if he wants to, but not to the point where I'd talk to him about matches of sports every time it's the start of a season since, well, you can't exactly talk about much when it comes to slots.
506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying houses with BTC on: January 22, 2024, 11:25:46 PM
...NFT? No way in hell that's legal. And I'd question the sanity of whoever makes it legal (at this point if they ever do really.)  Even Bitcoin transaction as proof of payment wouldn't work since there are a lot of legality afaik that are involved when transferring properties to another name, which is not at an equal level in terms of authority compared to a Bitcoin transaction. Maybe if it was under legal authority but at that point you might as well do the proper procedures instead of just saying the transaction as your proof lol.

As for buying houses with Bitcoin, I'd say it varies from country to country. It should technically be allowed but you'd have to find the laws related to that and whatnot.
507  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your Roller Coaster feeling When You Gambling on: January 22, 2024, 10:47:05 PM
An hour before going to a casino?
Pretty comfy in general.  I don't exactly feel anything before playing, not nervousness or excitement really.

After logging in and pulling out the games you are about to play?
I'm like "Oooh boy, time to lose all my money again" and laugh sarcastically at myself. Plus trying to remember whatever emotions I felt the last time I played.

While playing?
Same as you OP, adrenaline rush.

After you experience successive losses?
Feels like "Why am I playing this game again?" kind of stuff.

After you won successively?
I don't have to deposit money the next time I play! Kind of thing. Except if it was big though. If it was, I'd be excited as hell to withdraw everything.

After you log out whether you win or lose?
Time to do something else kind of thing. I usually don't have a set of activities I do so when I gamble is pretty random, and the same for the things I do afterward. As for the feelings that I got from gambling, well, I leave it there and don't let it get out.
508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do they managed ? on: January 22, 2024, 10:49:36 AM
They probably either A, overprice the products, or B, just keep the Bitcoin as is and not convert it to fiat immediately. The margin for overpricing would probably depend on the average movement of the price and if they have a bit of knowhow, make the price adjustments automatically based on the past 24H changes which change with every 1H interval. Pretty doable if you know a bit and if not, can hire some hands to help with it.

For the latter, well, it's like what it sounds. They probably just consider whatever amount that goes into their Bitcoin wallet as a funnel for their investment from their store sales or something since not all sales are done with crypto most likely in the first place.
509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silly and scary questions, and what would you do if that were you. on: January 21, 2024, 10:58:02 PM
~
I mean, the way here in the first place is to avoid the initial premise of other people knowing that you have a sizeable amount of Bitcoin or heck, money in general. Unless you had some sizeable amount of confidence behind your security then I don't think there's a reason to share about it in the first place.

But considering it did happen, I'd give the money 100%. Nothing's more important than your life after all. If possible and I have enough proof I can even probably try to ask exchanges to mark the coins to be tainted/stolen, only if possible and hey, if lucky, get it back.
510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The worst situation you're in that you regret that you learn about gambling on: January 21, 2024, 09:53:25 PM

Well, at least he was embarrassed about it. Glad that he's not that too deep into addiction.

For my case, it's with a relationship with my gf back then? She was fine with me playing card games and the like with my friends at first but when she discovered money was involved she got pissed at me and made me stop playing. I was fine with doing so but a couple of days after I was tempted to play and well, she caught me red-handed at some point a few weeks later and the rest is history. Personally, now I wouldn't say it's an embarrassing situation since it's my decision about what I do, not hers but I guess the realization that a relationship runs on both sides made me think I should've explained my perspective to her instead of doing it one-sidedly on my part.

Idk if there's anything worse than that but that's the most memorable one for me.
511  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Increased Gambling Risk for the Younger Generation on: January 21, 2024, 01:31:56 PM
~
It's not only that, it's also a LOT easier to influence them. With the era of social media, even if parents wanted to, they can't exactly control their kid from doing what they want unless they rule with a hard iron fist, which most families don't. This leads to some of the younger gen to stray away from, well, what is common sense when it comes to growing up back in the day. At this point, they'd go all in for risks and whatnot not because they understand what they're doing but because they "watched" someone do it and get some fame and success lol.

I hardly think teachers and parents alike can do something if they really get swayed away. Most kids crave for something "new" after all.
512  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Patience can help alot on: January 21, 2024, 01:10:39 PM
~
Any activity isn't really something people can grow on top of if they aren't patient. It's a bit more skewed towards luck when we consider gambling though if we do remove that factor, then indeed being calm about bets and not fretting about losses and wins and instead concentrating on the original plan beforehand, if one even exists, would be the best thing to do.

And in the first place, worrying about money you're gambling on is a mistake. It's money that you should consider to have already lost even before the results are out since it's money that you can afford to lose, hence why you chose to gamble it away. If you can't afford to lose it, then why bother gambling?
513  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your state on mind if your son stole your money to gamble? on: January 21, 2024, 04:03:55 AM
~
I'd be pissed really. It doesn't matter that he knows how to access my account, I'd have taught my kid to never steal money from anyone regardless of who they are. It doesn't even matter if he won money, it was money stolen still. I probably wouldn't have given him the money in the first place though but indirectly? Maybe. I'd have asked him to do some chores and whatnot and gave him money to play with. Sure I would be glad that he won, but only after getting pissed that he stole money.

Well in today's age it's hard to pinpoint who's the problem really. Some parents are really strict but the availability of the internet and social media influences the younger audience by a LOT. Granted parents still have to properly control what they can see but we know it sometimes happens regardless of their will.
514  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can we consider a project legitimate if it has been in existence for two years? on: January 20, 2024, 10:59:21 AM
~
10%? Damn that screams scam already. Would avoid it if it were me but if you have the money to spend then why not try it. I mean experience is the best answer. As for a project being a scam or not depending on how long it was running, ever heard of OneCoin? It was a Ponzi scheme that lasted afaik for about 2 years? Or somewhere around there. And there was a lot, and I mean a LOT of people involved in it. Just look it up and you'll see how much damage it dealt to investors. The time of a project doesn't mean much. It may mean a bit, but it's never the main factor that should sway your decision.
515  Economy / Economics / Re: Thoughts on service-for-asset exchange model. on: January 20, 2024, 10:55:20 AM
~
Soo uh... bartering? It's not anything new. As you've said, it's limitless so it was the first afaik thought of method for people to trade. What we have now in the first place is an evolved form to simplify the method we put value in items/services since at some point in time, they probably realized that bartering goods in exchange for another good has its limits, namely with determining what value it has in the first place. While I don't know how often it happens to others, I've seen various similar instances, mainly on social media of such exchanges happening.

If you wanted it to be a legitimate service, then at most you'd actually be the middleman between the two parties but at that point, wouldn't social media have done it already? And for free at that.
516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Surge in Meme Coins on: January 20, 2024, 01:14:48 AM
~
The meme coins have always been wild. It has always attracted customers in a fomo like way and immediately dies after like a couple of weeks, maybe even days. If that isn't wild, then idk what is. A lot of opportunistic people take this as a time to attack late investors buy artificially inflating the market which attracts said late investors. And while I understand why some people still invest even if the coin is like already 50% up, it's dumb since any meme coin that has a gain like that will always drop sharply so expecting any gains from it is pretty obvious.

I know people want big profits buy they should be prepared for big losses at the same time. I prefer relatively stable investments in comparison though. I think I only tried Shiba  or Doge once or twice before?
517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I was robbed, and the severe setback made me rethink a problem on: January 19, 2024, 01:34:50 PM
Whatever "lock" you want to implement to your wallet is only difficult to the extent you actually want it to be. After all, it isn't a lie that crypto encourages you to be your own bank, and that includes the security part. So implementing security measures naturally comes as a part of it and it only ever becomes difficult if you don't even start taking note of it in the first place. In the first place it's not THAT hard to keep your keys safe, keep it away from being stored in any devices you use to access the internet such as having it writtin in a book in your place. Or hardware wallets.

Other ideas outside of those would be biometrics, 2FA and the like which requires creating a new structure around the wallets themselves, which isn't really needed with the methods we already have.
518  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Island in the Philippines. on: January 18, 2024, 11:02:25 PM
~
Well, it is quite effective in generating noise to attract tourists I guess, so it kind of somehow works? It remains to be seen whether tourists who actually can use Bitcoin will visit the country and whether said tourists differ from their usual expected tourist group, both of which are questions that I can't really answer.

In general, though I think it's good enough just based on the fact that it can create articles about it being this "Bitcoin Island" as they say, and if they attract even a small group of crypto users that they usually wouldn't be able to, I think it would work out well enough.
519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Rise and Fall of ICOs: Lessons Learned on: January 18, 2024, 10:39:41 PM
Hey crypto mates! Let's take a stroll down memory lane and chat about the wild ride of ICOs – the good, the bad, and the "what-were-we-thinking" moments. Remember those ICO mania days when every token seemed like a golden ticket? Fast forward to Reality Check City.

Share your war stories, victories, and facepalms. What lessons did you learn from the ICO rollercoaster? Maybe your crystal ball predicted the next big thing, or perhaps you've got scars to prove otherwise. No shame, we've all been there!
I didn't have any big investments back then but I did profit from quite a few for a bit. I was quite lucky since the few ICOs I participated in at the start were pretty legitimate, so after taking a break from it for a couple of months I went back and thought the same would happen for any ICO I went on. Surprise surprise, my wallet just got filled with zero value tokens after a couple of months lmao. It was rather devastating to me since I didn't expect it to change that much.

For the next big thing who knows? I think NFT was the next big thing after ICO but after NFT we haven't really seen anything else yet.
520  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The PCSO Lotto is shrouded in doubt due to the picture of the winner shown on: January 18, 2024, 11:34:27 AM
~
Yup, this was talked about for pretty long in our office earlier. Some were defending PCSO because they went ahead and did this to "defend" whoever won it, which is kind of reasonable I guess. But then again some argued that it was shady in the first place since there were winners, or multiple ones, almost every month. I don't really know how the math works here since I don't have the numbers to check but as an average joe I guess it's a reasonable suspicion.

Not to mention there are probably better ways to tell someone to hide their face instead of needing to edit it out. Well, it is the PH, Am not surprised with the amount of stuff going on in here in the first place.
