2 months you say? no no, not yet, NOT YET! i'm WAY to broke to (pay off some debts and) buy in! i need more time!

...or more money. that'd work too.

anyone want AFLAC accident insurance? life? maybe a cancer policy? Cheesy

Perhaps 3 months depending upon how quickly segwit gets deployed and any last minute death throws of classic. My prediction is a slow , jagged , rise up to 500-550 in the next 2 months as well as being the depressed price before potential bubble. Keep in mind that even if the market has priced some of the halving in already there is a confluence of many factors creating a perfect storm.

1) Too many countries discussing negative interest rates
2) New bank scandals and doubts of liquidity and balance sheets
3) new bail ins being proposed
4) Oil , shipping crisis
5) Stock market unpredictable and volatile with expectations of another large crash
6) Financial uncertainty pervasive
7) Debt increasing and multiple concerns of hyperinflation
8 lack of trust in the yuan

ect...

i need to read up on segwit. i've been totally out of touch, bitcoin wise, for ages.

nah, halving will be a boom, if anything.

So you think. And so EVERYONE thinks. Which means everyone is holding and buying for after the halving. Which means there will be a huge dump after the halving. Which means... Well I think you understood ^^

interesting thought. we'll see, i suppose.

Problem being that in fact you absolutely can't know because of all the parameters... I find the idea interesting but...

Well it's all a bet I suppose. But in the end the price will rise that's for sure!

too many variables, exactly. it's one of the things that keeps me interested around here. unpredictability.

It's going back up! Come on, Adam. It's only four bucks.

na

i gata go to bed if i bet 4$ i will stay up, and my girl will be sad, and thats just no good for me.

but hey $4 says >412.5 by morning, take it or leave it.

you've made $2 so far, why not bet $4

i really gtg,

let's make a few more bets on some 2hr candles or somthing tomorrow, it's fun!

Why the hell not? You've been a good sport, so ok.  deal.

GOOOOOD morning
 Grin

yeah, you won your two bucks back. Congratulations.  We're even.

ok now...

300$ says every single month price will be > then the previous month for the next 10 years. Grin

I'd take you up on that, but I don't want to have $300 tied up in escrow for ten years.  My short is in eminent danger of getting rekt, so I'd have to pull it out of cold storage.  If you're right, $10 worth of bitcoin today would more than cover it!

I agree with you, it looks like the bear market is finally over, but there will be down months after the next bubble.

I guess people figured out even a contended hard fork would not leave two chains for more than a day or two, tops. This blocksize issue is not going to go away, but remember in 2013 we all suspected Gox was insolvent, but it didn't stop the Great Bubble.

Markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent. Now I'm thinking fullblocalypse and the halving cancel each other out. Either way, they're both well known and likely priced in.

Of course we'll have down months. Just after the halving for example ^^

nah, halving will be a boom, if anything.

uh... hmm. talk about hard to price. i mean, we're talking like 15 gighash. it's nothing. so we're talking purely collector's value, i guess. i don't even know where to begin. uh... 1 btc? obviously, open to negotiate.

Interested in buying a couple of these off you if they still work. Will drop you a PM =)

see, that's the kicker. i am not sure i can check. i don't have any idea how i'd set up mining on win 10. i'll look into it though. why not, right? if it were colder i would say i could use the heat, but we've had no winter here in texas.

Could use a rpi and let them mine solo. Unlikely but you never know, they shouldn't use more than a 100 watts total. Iirc these use 2w each? The going rate on ebay is $8-12 each but then you have to deal with scammers and may get ripped off. If you even sell at $5 each here that's ~.6BTC most here are buying around $10 but to complete sets.

yea, under 100 watts for sure. i'll have to look into getting a pi, if i can't get them running on win10.

i've had an offer for "a handful" at .05 btc plus shipping, which i think i'm ok with. anyone else want to get in, let me know. PM's are good, but here is fine too. i'll check this thread a few times a day.

Adam should've bet again, it's fantastic how reliable of an indicator he is Cheesy

Hey BJA, 5$ says todays candle hits 420$/USD, deal?

adam DID bet again.

That's 2$, Adam. Double or nothing again?

hmmm

i can pay out now

and you can accept this bet, if you want.

$4 say price is >412.5 by morning

either way pm me your payment address

people are actually collecting block erupters? heh... i got about 50 of them, hubs included. they... should still work. never tried running them on windows ten. they've been packed away a couple years now.
How much for the lot, shipped to EU ? (without hub if possible)
I have a bunch of 10ports hubs that I have no use for so filling them up with block erupters appeals to me Cheesy

Oh yea, iv been Trying to get 10 of every color for awhile now. Short a few but try to pick em up here and there. Never know, a set could be a collectors item one day.

They are neat little items that can be displayed.  If you don't mind me asking how much cost do you think it will be for 10 sets?  Also do some colors still have more value?

I remember when they were new I could not understand people paid decent amount more for some colors.   Even back at start was collectors on what colors.

i believe i only have silver and black. they're the first ones though! i got the initial shipment and (poorly) distributed them.

536  Other / Off-topic / Re: need my tax refund asap - how to get it without the w-2? on: January 12, 2016, 03:43:11 AM
I usually have to wait until February until my W2's come in.

It is illegal for employers to mail W2's after January 31.

which is why they mail them the 31st, and it takes days until it arrives, thus being February.

yea, that's the part i'm trying to figure out a way around.

with no real luck, it seems. i'll figure out something.
538  Other / Off-topic / Re: need my tax refund asap - how to get it without the w-2? on: January 11, 2016, 10:11:30 PM

i live in bedford, texas, about twenty minutes from the DFW airport, where my UPS job is. i'm currently carpooling to that while i save to get my own ride. my credit is good enough to get financing, but i need the down payment and my current job wouldn't afford the monthly either. after the holidays i'll be making under 200 a week. even though i'm not paying rent, a car payment + gas and insurance would be just about 100 bucks to expensive. so i'm saving to buy a cheapo "eh, it drives..." until i find better work.

i grew up in los angeles. a long commute wouldn't bother me at all, and given my living situation, i'd just get an apartment or such closer to the job pretty quickly anyway. lets hear the ideas!

I'm curious to learn what happened to the job and the excellent credit rating.

woah, i said "good enough to get financing." BIG difference from "excellent." my credit was worse than it is now, but it's still poor, under 600. the UPS job ended due to back trouble. i just couldn't do it anymore. for the next year and a half or... heck, almost 2 i think, i lived with my fiance and her folks in mckinney. from there i got a job at AIM Your Way in Allen, doing quality control. they do property maintenance for empty homes. contractors go out ,do work, take pictures to prove it. i looked over the pictures to be sure it was right and such. that ended inthe layoff in december, as they lost a contract. i was one of 18, which was over 20% of the employees. small company.

while working there, my fiance and i got married and moved to our own apartment in September. now, while we finish studying and getting our insurance agent licenses so we can sell AFLAC (a friend of ours is a manager of a district and has roped us in) we're ...well, trying to survive. if i can gett over the hurdle of january and febuary rent and the like, we'll make it, i think.

probably going to have to talk to her father about a loan at this stage. i hate to rely on others like that, but sometimes (or all to frequently, it seems) we don't get to choose. hopefully AFLAC will prove as successful for us as it has our friend. would be nice to not be broke for once.

oh, and i ended up finding a decent car that i sold a couple months ago, as i'm using my father in law's old truck now.
539  Other / Off-topic / Re: need my tax refund asap - how to get it without the w-2? on: January 11, 2016, 09:58:18 PM
so i got laid off on December 9th. good times, lemme tell ya. unemployment won't kick in until next week, and i'm late rent. i've got a week to get 800 bucks, in short.

which my tax refund should cover three times over! yay!

but i can't GET it in the next week. BOO!

any ideas?

all i have is my final paystub. no w-2, i'd only worked for the job from feb of 2015 to december 9.

not asking for a loan or anything (i still owe marcotheminer a few coins...) like that, but ideas to get my tax refund early, or a loan on that.

any ideas?

i need to update that... and, who's trendon shavers?

You once commented about Pirate: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=85687.msg1259791#msg1259791

yea. i remember all that, just didn't make the mental connection that trendon was his real name. that and, as you can see by my posting activity, my head hasn't really been in the bitcoin space much for a while now.

At my local walmart, there was a sign from Jackson Hewitt Tax Services that they would advance you the refund money with a no interest loan (but you will pay to have them prep the return then), not sure if they would do this with just the final pay stub or not.

You can always file your taxes online and you don't need the W-2, but again, if the information ends up being slightly different you will have to amend later (which really isn't that big of a deal, you may just owe some back).

Also, it will probably take longer than 2 weeks to get your refund.

i've seen a similar sign at my walmart. i'll talk to them next time i'm there.
