We can do the same calculation as the Freicoin's client do. But by considering the large amount of potential users and operations of the exchange platform, we prefer a simpler way to guarantee a low load of the hosting server and low rate of potential mistakes. Yes, we charge a flat rate every day. We charge 0.017% a day which means accumulatively 6% per year. It's only 1% higher than Freicoin's one year demurrage 5% in case you put your coins on our platform for a year. We are still not sure if this small over-charge can cover our costs or not. Let's see. |

I understand. However, we need people with sufficient experience in PCB layout and assembly. This is a time critical operation, so whoever delivers first gets the biggest piece of pie. There is no time for research / learning. You will need to know stuff beforehand - once the specs and plans are released, it needs to be realized and manufactured ASAP.
Here in Indonesia we will be using a PCB fabricator after we get the DIY design / BOM. I am keen on hearing more once the specifications come from Avalon. There will be multiple designs that are open source by the sounds of it. I am keen on working with a number of different people who are doing the same thing in the USA or CANADA or EUROPE as well as Asia. My goal is to have ASIC's assembled here in Indonesia only for the Indonesian market and given the direction of the DIY thread I do not think it will be as problematic if you have a good PCB fabricator and one of the DIY designs. Drop me a PM if you are also interested in some sort of board royalty if you have a design ready once the specs are out. I have 540 chips on order and 16 chip board that bkk is designing is something that is interesting to me but also the 20 chip higher density board that Burin mentioned as well. I am very hopeful that the DIY end of this spawns many local asic developers / distributors and kills off the over priced weaker efforts of BFL to get something viable to the market. This will be the future of the BTC for the next few years as Avalon I suspect will be working on newer and better chips. We should work together where possible so that the community supports developing the DIY avalon worldwide in local situations. Maybe we could form an organization that can support this once we are all up and producing boards and marrying avalon chips to them. I see this as the best way to weed out the likes of BFL from the marketplace if it is done well. Asics could be cheaper and readily available to a much much wider audience even in places like Indonesia where Bitcoin is not even a novelty yet. |

Maybe two weeks? We are waiting for the test lab to issue the test report. With the bump in power requirements on the MR and the new screen, we had to make changes, although the new screen is already certified. We are doing all the devices at once, since they all share the same board. The video is proof that this is a customer's unit and not that of a developer, therefore, at this speaking, Butterfly Labs is breaking the law. Also, as of Friday, BFL has not apply for FCC approval of any of their units. To be clear, if the FCC received a unit in their facility on Thursday from some entity, it would most definitely be on this website on Friday: https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm?calledFromFrame=NSearch it yourself. +1 ... but now will anyone do anything about this at all? I apologize if this sounds dismissive, but I have only a few hours a week I can devote to Freicoin and I'd rather spend that implementing infrastructure and new features (like republicoin) than handling non-essential PR.
PSST... want the rest of us Freicoin devoted Plebs like me to take up the torch Maaku? Keep pluggin away man... very very happy with the coin. It's profitability and the fact the Demurrage will get this coin moving. I think the PR campaign is a simple one. Good devs, fair democratic distribution of foundation funds we all get a voice in and a lot of coin for miners who will eventually get every single Kria as the demurrage will slowly but surely right all the "evils" of the original dispersement through a foundation. You can moan and bitch and whine but at the end of the day this coin will be there, it will provide a means to purchase goods and services and will be less likely to be hoarded. That for me is something to look forward to as well as 0% interest loans... ya 0%! There are more than a FEW people out in the wild who see the value of this coin. Whether you want as a user to get involved is your choice but I bet you dollars to donuts that the "foundation" in whatever form will be what we make it. Not some imaginary redistribution of wealth nightmare the right leaning types who have been drinking the Ron Paul coolaid in the US think. I for one grow tired of the group think that somehow mining is the most fair and democratic way to dispense a coin when in reality the 99% of the planet who can't even afford electricity watches on. Might want to get your head out of your ass and participate in something that requires you to do more than sit in the balcony and heckle down like a muppet. There is certainly a bubble in this community and nothing seems to escape it very cowardly thinking it is. You have supplanted the "system" with a network of miners who are continually consolidating their grip on Bitcoin.... over time Bitcoin will not be decentralized rather centralized in the hands of people with more and more hashing power. Which do you want? A humane system where there could be errors in judgement or a system that eventually becomes the very thing you despise when the corporate takeover happens? I prefer to think that a foundation of the users for the users can work more efficiently than a system that is built on 1st world technology excluding billions of people. |

Are we "screwed" if we're at the end of the BFL queue for the 5 Gh/s devices (previously called "Jalapeņos")? I ordered mine this month.
If I can build my 160 Gh/s DIY avalon in less time than you can get your 5 Gh/s yes I would say you are. I will buy you a virtual beer if you get yours before I build mine sound fair? Few notes: Chips just ordered won't be ready for 10 weeks minimum. Shipped to US then to Singapore then I pick em up and go to Jakarta. Then hopefully I have the boards from the DIY variants done and marry the chips to the boards in a few weeks. All you have to do is wait... This will be fun to watch. |

PS: We have an unclaimed 5.16BTC tx (found after a ton of PITA going through all tx's and confirmations here) - anyone who wants to claim that will have to sign a message with the input address now. I'm still thinking of what to do with it if anyone does not claim though. Hmmm just hold it for now I guess keep broadcasting till someone responds. Tough one that... might have to just go into the pot and raffle off the chips? No idea though. I am excluding the funds as chips for the moment as I don't know what to do with this. If a refund is needed (if the pot is not filled by the deadline), it might go towards the fees I guess. Trust your judgement... It is your call as the Escrow Agent. I think separate and hold till refund for now good call. If Ataxx gets in he can bump that BTC out and I guess you will be left with it... I suspect the rule might be 30 days to claim it? Do you have any policies for such a case? |
