5261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Often Do you Bet on Politics? on: August 25, 2019, 02:18:06 AM
I do not bet often on politics, I majorly follow that of my country, Nigeria and other African Nations. Corruption is prevalent in most of the electioneering processes, and the best bet is rarely the best fit for the position.
I also find it morally wrong to canvass for a certain candidate and bet on another, so I'd sit it out.
5262  Other / Meta / Re: I dont understand what Posts are allowed in the Off-Topic Forum what is allowed? on: August 23, 2019, 10:45:48 AM
If you got time to Delete my POST YOU GOT TIME TO LET ME KNOW WHY

This is not entirely true the mods have a lot of work on their hands with the amount of spam on the forum right now, and do not really need to offer a detailed explanation specific to every deleted post.

Posts are most frequently deleted because they are off-topic, though they can also be deleted for other reasons. In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted.

Off topic is the most common reason for deleted posts, but as stated there could be other reasons.
5263  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Host-file to deal with phising sites on: August 23, 2019, 10:31:55 AM
- Never create accounts on newborn, strange sites/ forums if you do not make your own research about those sites.

And do not use the same or similar email and password when opening different accounts on different websites even after making your research, sites could be hacked and you would not want your entire online activity compromised. If possible have records of all your log in details on different accounts, especially if you're into cryptocurrency and could be using different exchanges at the same time.

Also, Have you most frequently visited sites bookmarked.
5264  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie, help, registered with bitcointalk.com, am in in danger. on: August 22, 2019, 08:41:56 PM
Now that you know it was definitely [Suspicious link removed], and that bitcointalk.com is on the thread I linked in my previous post, should I change the password to a really long and complicated one or is there any way I can just stop my membership of that site.

The website already recorded you register and log in credentials, and if the owners are dubious, they already have access to that information. You should be more interested I'm protecting you accounts on other sites which shares similar password and email (or a combination of any)
To your earlier question about the password reset link, I would advice you do not click on it as, it does not offer any level of protection.
5265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Twitterarians can you weigh in. Does @Bitcoin support Bitcoin again? on: August 22, 2019, 05:05:13 PM
From recent tweets the account @Bitcoin is no doubt pro Bitcoin and a little bit anti BCH.
Regardless of previous situations I would hope the current handler keeps a level head, and connects with Bitcoin enthusiasts on Twitter, from all over the world, relating it to their government policies and economies.
Social media would be a very efficient tool in pushing the Bitcoin agenda, if handled properly.
5266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Humans Gamble since 3000BC, and Governments still try to ban on: August 22, 2019, 04:31:13 PM
Let people do whatever they want. And prostitution is legal is some countries

It makes sense to allow people freely do whatever they want as long as they do not infringe on the rights of others. In a way, it is a littlesimilar to the situation of cryptocurrency in many countries where governments outrightly ban or regulate it's use, tagging it a high risk venture.
They are sort of saying, let us do the thinking for the rest of you and are trying to protect their citizens from themselves.
Or maybe in those countries gambling is synonymous with some other activity which may be illegal.
5267  Other / Meta / Re: Since 2018, what did you contribute to prevent signature ads removed globally? on: August 22, 2019, 07:13:48 AM
I am against using merits as a punitive measure to curb spam rather than as an incentive to encourage quality posting, which it was originally designed for.
In my opinion it would be an overkill and would stimulate merit sales and bring about a cat race where members are forced to earn merit from other members. Regardless of their reasons for being on the forum.
5268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 21, 2019, 02:38:04 PM
I'd rather have Griezmamn as back up for Suarez that's if the flanks are occupied already, but with Dembčlč proving to be unreliable, numerous back up plans wouldn't be a terrible idea.

Griezmann has a too much quality to be a back up striker. He would have to be featured regularly one way or the other. Valverde has shown interest in 4-4-2 formation, and Griezmann can function behind a centre forward.
Dembele's injury is a big blow, as he is really the only first team player who can use both feets available now in the attack. Barcelona would have a hard time filling up the left flank of the attack.
5269  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: August 21, 2019, 01:54:00 PM
I think that the reason why Atletico has not been picked is based on their performance of the initial games.Against Getafe they did play very well but out of the goal occassions they had, they only managed to score one goal. You cannot win the league with these statistics.

Actually, you can, consistency is what counts. We saw that in 2013/14 when they won the league for the first time and also when Leicester won the EPL in 2015/16. Scratching out important points and having a very solid defence, and of course you need the variety in one excellent attacking player to finish the chances which they do create.

Barcelona are in dire need of a left back to compete with Jordi Alba for his spot and also give him a bit of rest during the season. Except they are lining up a bid for an experienced left back, I don't see any need for such a deal.
I wouldn't say no to Mandzukic tho, he has experience and the team needs a back up striker.
5271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beauty Contest Gambling on: August 20, 2019, 05:53:48 AM
I have not bet on one, but i have been involved in one as a contestant. From my little experience (as it was a contest within my locality). The most important thing is your carriage and personality.
Then your overall looks; height, face, outfit etcetera.
Then how much you can win the crowd over: your popularity. In a local competition most people might not really know you till that night. But in. A global one with different stages you can easily look up the contestants.

I hope this would help you in chosing your bets.
5272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 20, 2019, 05:43:28 AM
Focus on youth education like Ajax and produce high-quality players

The problem is from the board. Bartemou is trying hard to take the pressure of himself by investing in big money transfers and hoping it comes with successes. He doesn't want to take a gamble with youth.
Ernesto Valverde is also not the right coach to take Barcelona back to the top. He was renowed for building young talents in Athletic Bilbao, but we've seen none of that affect Barcelona nor good, quality football.
5273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: August 19, 2019, 06:47:18 PM
Just voted on the poll and viewed the current result, it's surprising no one has voted for Atletico Madrid to win the league title this season, while Sevilla and Valencia has gotten picked (most likely by club fans).
I think Atletico do stand a very big chance this season to challenge for the title and make the race exciting.
Barcelona of course leads the poll, and after eight league titles in eleven years you would expect so.
5274  Other / Meta / Re: Some tools I think they are needed in the forum on: August 19, 2019, 06:20:55 PM
Already have a bot created by a user name piggy.

That is a notification bot for when your name is added to a post or reply and not when your post/reply is quoted. The only way to do that now is to revisit the thread or be notified of any new post

2. Sorting threads by number of merits the OP has received.

This would create an inbalance making it difficult for lower ranked members to get publicity for their post, so if for example, they wanted to notify others about a potential scam, their post would be buried below other posts even as soon as it is posted. I do not think this would be helpful in any way.
5275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: August 19, 2019, 06:06:55 PM
...

I don't think it's much of a surprise, FC Bayern are a team seeking to rediscover themselves and Countinho as you pointed out it a very quality player, who can play between spaces.
It's very likely he would be sold after his loan spell expires and 120 million euros is a very good deal for Barcelona. In addition to the 8.5 million already paid for the loan deal.
He should surely be a better fit there, than at Catalonia.
5276  Other / Meta / Re: Are automated accounts allowed? on: August 18, 2019, 07:02:25 PM
This is an old comment from theymos, but it could be useful in your research.

The contextual search in the upper right searches the board you're on and all subboards. If this results in more than 5 boards, but less than all boards, then you get that error (recently-added for performance reasons).

If you want to search the entire forum, you can go to the search page or to the front page. The limitation I added is that you can either search all boards, or limit it to 1-5 boards. But you can't limit it to 10 boards, for example.

The limitation applies to the forum inbuilt search engine and not the Google search option.
5277  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What constitutes spam and how best to avoid it on: August 18, 2019, 06:34:04 PM
But we can't expect everyone to be an expert in crypto currencies so they are just contributing in the way they can

Everyone is still in the learning phase and the industry is constantly evolving, so there's no shame in not being knowledgeable on specific topics.
This forum is a great learning tool and it's a gradual process. Always be on the growth path, stay relevant when posting, read up as much as possible.

Altcoin boards need to have few more child board for serious discussion

It would be giving spammers more boards to work with. And would increase the workload on moderators.
Admins do not want to take any extreme measures to reduce spam, so for now just report those irrelevant posts.
5278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I Sold 2BTC at $3,000 and BTC Bumped to $10,000 on: August 18, 2019, 01:01:56 PM
The likely reason why you consider it a loss is cause you were paid in bitcoins and not fiat. You were paid $6000 for the job (in bitcoins). It's not yet an investment until you consider it so.
A lot of people had the ability to buy at that time and make profit, but didn't, cause they did not know of bitcoins, were not interested or did not have spare funds. The latter is your case.
Only invest amounts you do not need at the time, and can afford to lose
5279  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Black market of merit!!!!!! on: August 18, 2019, 09:10:06 AM
Merits cannot be challenged and anyone can give merit to anyone without any criteria.

Except in extreme and obvious cases of abuse like when an account gets hacked and the new person behind the account distributes merits to alts or sells them out.
Besides that, it's pretty anyone's game. Theymos once discussed it, and concluded that; it's not much of an issue, except they're merit sources where it'd be looked into. In regular cases, they are going to run out of smerits eventually.

In looking for a source of income one should be more interested in stability and job security. Which you cannot get here on the forum.
Yes, a lot of people profit from trading, but a lot more don't. It takes practice, mentorship and also capital to get you started up. As much as possible diversify your sources of income, but do not get heavily dependent on any source that doesn't offer much security.
