5281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Freicoin: demurrage crypto-currency from the Occupy movement (crowdfund) on: April 21, 2013, 05:13:31 AM
What is 'roughly' the current time to find a block @ 500 MH/S? Is it still 'worth it' to solo mine for FRC?

http://1.cr.rs/

Good info right here.... We should reward Joe for his efforts... come on Foundation set up already and start giving some coin to these people who are adding value to FRC by their efforts.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=182019.0

What should we do next... POST YOUR MILESTONE guides and lets get to the distribution phase already. If you actually CARE about this issue then you have to get involved and provide SOLUTIONS. Not much can get done if you simply bitch and moan about the inequity. Time to get on board and get some traction on this and have a foundation formed and distributing some of this coin now.
5282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We need a separate Litecoin sub-forum or move the LTC community on: April 21, 2013, 05:00:18 AM
Word is they are not going to do that. I understand what you mean though.

CHILD BOARDS FOR THE FOLLOWING RIGHT NOW!

LTC Litecoin -  second only to BTC , faster than BTC, Smaller efficiency gap between GPUs and CPUs , ASIC-hostile

NMC Namecoin merged mined with BTC, used for alternative p2p domain system

PPC PPcoin   Proof Of Stake [very innovative, low energy ] , compatibile with BTC miners

TRC Terracoin based on BTC, fast difficulty adjustment, initialy flaved but corrected

DVC Devcoin merged mined with BTC, 90% of generation goes to foundation, 10% to miners

NVC NovaCoin -  scrypt hashing[like LTC] , proof of stake [like PPC] , controversial start

FRC Freicoin - 4.89% anual demurrage. for the first 3 years 80% block subsidy goes to foundation, 20% to miners
5283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We need a separate Litecoin sub-forum or move the LTC community on: April 21, 2013, 04:39:32 AM
I may well be setting up altcointalk.org in the coming weeks. Stay tuned  Wink

That is fine... but we need this board to segregate as well.
5284  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 490,000 Avalon chips already ordered - 150T hashrate spike coming in August on: April 21, 2013, 04:29:29 AM
One chip at time... one chip at a time. You will see some of this potential hash start coming in about 3 to 4 months. This is the WAVE... forget BFL, Avalon or ASICminer... it will be open source that will really expand Bitcoin and secure it's future. I can't wait to see the next chip something a lot smaller and lot more energy efficient. This is going to be some ride that the DIY community has been waiting for.

5286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [ANN] FRC - Foundation, Grants & Prizes Moving Forward Now on: April 21, 2013, 04:21:23 AM
http://www.freicoin.org/post2187.html#p2187

Situation:

The foundation that as of yet is to form will be the entity from which the 80% of the deferred coins mined to date will be stored and then distributed to the community at large. We as a community are eager to see this happen sooner not later. We currently have a lot of interest in bootstrapping FRC and the coin in reserve is meant to help this move along more quickly.

Focus:

We need a timeline / milestones that sets the date for the foundation to be formed, grant proposals are funded and prizes are awarded in a time frame that is should be measured in weeks not months.

Response:

This thread is a call to the community, as it is now, to help set milestones so that the foundation is set up asap and we have milestones for dispensing FRC as grants and prizes in the coming months. Please outline below your idea for a road map or milestones for the formation of the foundation and the dispensing of the FRC in the form of grants and prizes.

Evaluation:

If we do this then we will be able to ride the wave of an increased user base of miners and help improve the chances of success of FRC. With better infrastructure we are more likely to see FRC succeed.
5287  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DIY PCB with AVALON - [Proposed BOM V1] on: April 21, 2013, 04:03:48 AM
We have a variety of PCB designs on the go here... how many different designs are there currently.

Personally I will use a PCB manufacturer here in Jakarta so that I don't have to go through the hassle and pain of importing boards which can be a nightmare. Chips I can pick up and carry in from Singapore where I will have them drop shipped first with an agent.

I am really keen on developing a local bitcoin ASIC miner for Indonesia that is a 2 to 3 chip model, an 8 chip model and a 16 chip model. All I really need is a partner who can get me a working / tested board design and I will do the rest on this end.

If anyone is interested in working on this with me let me know via PM.

5288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We need a separate Litecoin sub-forum or move the LTC community on: April 21, 2013, 02:31:44 AM
Each altcoin needs a subforum... it is TIME to make the change right now.

You can get one if your altcoin's hash rate exceeds 100 gh/s... or equivalent for scrypt sound fair?

You people can't have it both ways. You say that if we (the customer) paid for mining gear in BTC then request a refund BFL is only required to refund the USD equivalent b/c it was priced in USD. I'll concede that.

The same holds true with the wager. They announced 1000 BTC they owe 1000 BTC.

The double standard some of you hold is amazing to me.

5290  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: If any hardware makers really want to succeed!! on: April 20, 2013, 08:40:34 AM
Very keen on assembling boards to chips here in Indonesia and charge IDR or FRC actually. Here is hoping I can find a decent design for the PCB the BOM along with the right price point for miners here. We should be looking locally to build these rather than shipping these things all over the planet. Get supplies regionally assemble and sell locally. BTC is pretty volatile but then again without people actually using the currency as a currency we can't expect it to stabilize can we.

5292  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as Escrow! 600+ / 780 BTC pledged! on: April 20, 2013, 08:10:58 AM
So we send to John? Or to you OP? Little confused here.

Bicknellski   20 BTC   with fees  the total is 20.5 BTC.

The total chips is 256.410256410256 or 256 chips in total rounded down to nearest whole number.

I agree with the terms and the escrow. We will also need to provide via email our shipping preferences to us and our address or are you going to use only 1 shipping agent OP?

5293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anybody mining Freicoins? on: April 19, 2013, 01:51:48 PM
That foundation sounds like it will become someone's retirement account.

http://www.freicoin.org/freicoin-foundation-f15.html

I think you need you actually learn more about it... before we have to go through all the misconceptions people have.

The foundation is ours... every user. Ultimately we decide. If the foundation can't distribute the coins equitably the worst case is that all the coins would be dumped / destroyed and then with demurrage would eventually be recycled back the miners benefits.

Don't get hung up about the foundation the real beauty of the Freicoin is the demurrage. A coin that once it has stabilized will be a currency we can USE unlike others that are kept and hoarded. Check out the foundation and more about Freicoin at the forum. Get involved and even post a Grant Proposal something that will help improve the FRC!
5294  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! 841 / 782.1 BTC Pledged! on: April 19, 2013, 01:06:43 PM
Good with that... just make sure to keep us all updated on shipping via email.

Thanks for checking out JohnK... have lots of trust in this escrow choice!

We are putting faith in the OP... but I like at least being sure the BTC is paying for the chips. Harder to sell off 10K worth of chips than convert 700+ BTC to cash... partial protection at least.

So looking forward to this!

Maybe part of your 1% OP is kept by John until proof of shipment? Not all but some we know you should get something to cover all the time and effort. Thanks again!

5295  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! 841 / 782.1 BTC Pledged! on: April 19, 2013, 02:36:11 AM
Is there a timeline on when you plan to order?  I might be in, but have to talk to some people/get the BTC.

Well the biggest pending we have is for 390BTC let's see if he is committed I'm still waiting on him to confirm in the thread at this point.

Ragingazn628 have you made any progress on setting up escrow or taking payments?  Zefir claims he thinks he has almost enough to make a 2nd order.

Like I said I'm up for an escrow but as someone pointed out I'm not sure how it would work in this situation since I will be ordering from Avalon using the pool's BTC.

Talk with JohnK - AKA Johnthedong... I think he'd be the BEST escrow guy we have here in Bitcointalk and he would definitely be able to work this out for all of us. I suggest he is given a small percentage to take on this though as he runs on donations. Everyone could I suppose add a small % of their buy to the chip order to cover his pain and suffering and worry. He knows his shit and I think most if not everyone who has done escrow through him is happy.  This can be voluntary but we should really all should chip in what we think this service is worth. I do not think 1-3% is unreasonable for the peace of mind JohnK provides for his service.

PS: Everyone's been asking about the fees and appropriate tips for this service. I appreciate a tip for the risk of holding the escrowed Bitcoins, and the time taken to facilitate every transaction. I do not have a fixed fee, but generally I receive 1-3% of the amount transacted, especially when a TX takes more than a few weeks.

5296  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [5.5TH/s] Ozcoin Pooled Mining |DGM 1%|PoT 2%|PPS 3%|Stratum+VarDiff port 80 on: April 19, 2013, 02:22:14 AM
Hello Miners
I made a mistake:
A week ago I was getting concerned at the continued run of bad luck, I should have turned PPS off then.
Luck did not improve and after not sleeping well I got up at 3:00am to find we were on another long block and realized something needed to be done immediately.
The last 50 blocks on PPS
paid out  2071.11934723
earnt     1247.92580065
made up of
10 of last 50 payout less than 25btc
24 between 25btc and 50 btc
16 of last 50 payout more than 50btc
When the pool gets 25btc + a little transactions fees per block it is easy to see this is a problem.

Something that didn't help:
Miners moving from DGM to PPS when round went over 100% of Difficulty, I found ~40% of the pool was on PPS until share count passed difficulty then PPS lept to 80%+ of the pool - good for the miners, not so good for the pool. We initially coded payout method changes only be available at end of round but when PoT was introduced this changed - my fault for not making sure miners could not exploit this aspect of the pool.

About Payouts:
Payout have been stopped until we can code the payout script to take up where it left off when wallet empties.
Currently payout script starts at user 1 every time, if I top up wallet and payouts run the oldest members will get paid as usual, newer members wont be paid for some time.
Changing the code means we will roll through all users before starting back at user 1, the fairest way I can think of currently and hopefully will be complete within a few hours.

What I am doing:
I have put all of my personal coins into the pool and am trying to buy coins, another option I am exploring is borrowing 500-700BTc to be able to catch up on miners pay -not having a lot of luck with either yet, another option is to sell my batch2 Avalon preorder (seems people are paying up to $50k for them - crazy I know)
I am also involved in other Bitcoin based businesses, any earnings of mine from these I will be putting into pool as available until pool is "back on it's feet" or loans repaid if I am able to secure one.

What miners can do to help:
Keep mining
Anyone that is able to wait a little longer for coins could remove payout address until pool funds are replenished allowing those more in need of payouts to be able to come to top of the queue quicker
Above all be patient, I am committed to paying all miners as soon as possible and continuing to improve the Ozcoin pool.

I apologize for this major hiccup but am doing my best to get these issues resolved as I think more pools closing is not good for Bitcoin.

Best wishes
Graeme

Integrity is not cheap but highly valued. Wish more had what you have Graet... more people should use your pool just for that fact alone. I wish you the best of luck. I will certainly think of switching over to OZcoin soon.

5298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Freicoin: demurrage crypto-currency from the Occupy movement (crowdfund) on: April 18, 2013, 06:33:02 PM
Luck not needed.

300 Gh/s and profitability at 200%.

Horrible.

Worst case scenario. They can't find an equitable way to dispense the coin. It is all sent to a throw away wallet and volia "DEMURRAGE" to the rescue coins go to the miners.

I think there are way too many naysayers who fail to give real workable alternatives a chance or put in the effort to make sure positive things will happen. FRC is a coin that is different and in "GOOD" way. Check it out. Mine it. Spend it.

Mining is not an equitable way to distribute coin to the majority of people regardless of how theoretically sound it is as a verifiable form of distribution. Unfortunately many people in this community live in a bubble where everyone has a computer, access to the internet and can figure out how to mine. Sorry but that ain't the real world. Sometimes less than perfect or less accountable ways may in fact be better for the entire population. You do have a stick up your ass as most people do when  it comes to the BEAUTY and EFFICACY of the mining model. It is flawed and the continual concentration of mining in fewer hands is the result. I'd rather have a cheap ID card versus a 30K mining rig just to get a ROI after 4 months. Yea real equitable if you have the money to invest. So ya there could be problems yet in the overall picture a foundation could conceivably distribute more coin to more people more equitably than the current system for mining. It is quite possible and given the people involved I dare say it will be fun to watch what develops from this experiment. People have shared wealth for within communities for hundreds of thousands of years. There is no perfect system but I think that at times humanity is quite capable of empathy and honesty, maybe sometimes the tech answer is not always the best answer as it leads to less empathy and there is no need for honesty as the system removes that from the equation... dehumanizing us in the process.
