Diaspora* is pretty active by now, but still it's not perfect. But it's a nice online community for now and you will find people with the same attitude, to find and develop new models of social networking.

Friendica has even more features and can federate with Diaspora*, but it's still a horrible UX, no matter which design/theme is used. Friendica Red / Red Matrix is a restart/rewrite of the project with even better architecture and more powerful features and possibilities, but still horrible UX (but a bit better from what I see). Any help from designers would be welcome of course, but I'm not sure if it's even possible to create a smooth UX for it.

The tally stick rather is the analog equivalent to Ripple (the original concept of 2004), or a LETS, i.e. a debt/obligations recording instrument.

The analog equivalent to Bitcoin would rather be seashells or indeed the Yap stones.

I'd say the simulation argument scenario is just a subset of the technological singularity scenario.

Die Idee des Bancors wurde ja weiterentwickelt und den heutigen technischen Möglichkeiten angepasst, aber die Grundidee war durchaus auch eine von Nationalstaaten und -interessen unabhängige Abrechnungseinheit, mit einigen besonderen Regeln, und nationale Vorgaben berücksichtigend (unterschiedliche Regulatorien, Zoll, etc, wie von dir erwähnt).

btw, als zukünftige offizielle Weltwährung werden ja oft die Special Drawing Rights kolportiert, und der IMF hat sich ja nun nicht gerade als vertrauenswürdige Organisation herausgestellt, und das wird mit jeder großen zentralen machtvollen Organisation so sein.

Ähnliche Ideen hatte auch schon Keynes mit seinem Bancor.

Letztlich wurde aber der USD zur Quasi-Weltwährung, Bretton Woods und das alles, gegen die Spieltheorie der Machtverhältnisse eben bei den Politikern und Banken, die du "ins Boot holen" willst, kommt man eben nicht so leicht an.

Technisch verstehe ich nicht und bezweifle auch, dass eine solche vorgeschlagene digitale Währung, die so viel Zeugs protokolliert, wirklich anonym bleiben oder zumindest hinreichend Privatssphäre bieten kann.

Wo ich Potential sehe für eine neue dezentrale digitale Währung, die Bitcoin ablösen könnte, wäre innerhalb eines neuen World-Wide-Webs basierend auf einer P2P- statt einer Client-Server-Architektur, siehe etwa MaidSafe.

The Dollar or the Euro today are already digital currencies mostly. You may ask governments and banks why they don't manage to implement a cheap and fast payment system themselves, with Dollars and Euros. Probably because all the regulatory hurdles this would have to jump through (that's why Western Union and PayPal charge a lot of fees because of all the bureaucracy required).

Because Bitcoin is independent and without a central authority, it bypasses all that. When you don't have a backer, all you can do is to limit the tokens and hope they will become valuable (and thus tradeable, i.e. money) all by themselves. Everything that is limited and valuable will be speculated with, same with gold and silver. Bitcoin is still in the beginning, once it has established better, its value will become more stable. All the speculation you see today are mostly bets about its future. Many people (especially here) believe that a great future of Bitcoin (or crypto-currency in general) is unavoidable because it just solves too many problems at once.

These, Antithese, Synthese bedeutet erst mal nur, dass wenn man zwei gut begründete, aber sich widersprechende Thesen hat, sich wohl bald herausstellen wird, dass beide Thesen doch zutreffend sind, indem durch einen (zukünftigen) besseren Blickwinkel der Widerspruch sich auflösen wird, und eine neue These, eben die Synthese formuliert werden kann, die die beiden früheren anscheinend gegensätzlichen Thesen vereinen kann.

Beispiel:

These: Leben auf der Erde entstand aus der toten Materie durch rein chemische und evolutionäre Prozesse.
Antithese: Das ist in etwa so (un-) wahrscheinlich, wie wenn aus der Explosion in einer Druckerei ein vollständiges Wörterbuch entsteht.
Synthese: z.B. Panspermia, oder ancient aliens.   Hier würde, selbst wenn die Entstehung von Leben extrem selten und zufällig wäre, es sich exponentiell im Universum verbreiten.

Dieses Konzept der Dialektik wird dann erst auf einer nächsten Interpretationsstufe gern in einem gesellschaftspolitischen Kontext gesehen und gebraucht, insbesondere im marxistischen Umfeld, das eine Evolution in der Geschichte der Menschheit erkennen will, von der Stammeskultur zum Feudalismus zum Kapitalismus und letztendlich zum (zukünftigen, utopischen) Kommunismus als ideale klassen- und staatenlose Gesellschaft. Historische Prozesse seien beeinflussbar mit dem machtvollen Werkzeug des Wissens um die Dialektik an der Hand. Aufstände und Revolutionen seien im Verlauf der Geschichte immer wieder zwingend, also sollte man versuchen, diese mit der Dialektik bewusst zu beeinflussen und zu gestalten, um eine bessere Gesellschaftsform (in deren Augen Sozialismus oder Kommunismus) schneller herbeiführen zu können.

Um den Kreis zum Topic zu schließen, eine dieser Revolutionen (wenn auch nicht unbedingt im Sinne der Marxisten) kann nun der Bitcoin im allgemeinen sein und im Kontext die angesprochenen Anonymitätslösungen im speziellen.

Thus we get nice things like food speculation, landgrabbing (making everything more expensive that is produced on over-priced land), and stock market bubbles.
