As always when you got famous.

The point is HOW EXPANSE may deal with new "grupies".

Will you drop back and attention will be lost or it reinforce own brand.

The ball’s in your court! Good luck, Dev_team.

We want this very much to be an easier version of Ethereum, and for the people, building something together. We will certainly give everyone as much attention as we can. Currently we pretty much are working 7 days a week, or at least interacting with the community that often. With rare exceptions. Groupies are welcome! Smiley

What is up with the crazy price manipulation? When 24 hr volume is several times the size of the marketcap, well... that just isn't natural.

Lots of theories on that. I can share what I know.

Several traders have said they really love Expanse and might be big players, they could have been involved. (they were tweeting, so certainly they were trading) It is entirely possible some interest or traders out of China were behind it.(Little things like making the mining count a lucky number for China, 8, could influence them... who knows?)

ETH whales, maybe. We do have some information coming out soon, and maybe some people got excited, but certainly it was big money.

What I am 100% certain of, the team was shocked by it all, happy, but shocked. My best estimate was that it was just a perfect storm of some large investors, interest, and small investors all hitting at once.
543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: February 13, 2016, 04:17:07 AM
happy to have found this coin! always good to see progress.
Are you nuts? This is not just a shitty, but a scam coin.
Most of the alt coins, are no more than a waste of time and money... But this is the worst of them all. At the lvl of Umbrellas Coin and garbage of the kind.
Any explanation why ? Smiley
I would like to hear that as well, I have been here critiquing the project after all. I still have some unanswered criticisms and questions that still stand. For instance and more specifically who controls and how is the developer fund managed and controlled?

This will all be updated along with the Homestead. The project is in process and I am pushing the coders to get updates as soon as possible. Some of it is ready and will be included with the Homestead update. Best regards.
544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: February 13, 2016, 04:03:12 AM
it looks like Expanse was only pump, why is there not more of real interest. It is strange, its like if people wouldnt be interested in litecoin back then.

There is plenty of real interest. Buy support has massively increased, volume has massively increased. More people are mining. More people are joining our Slack. Updates and news on the way, and for anyone paying attention, Expanse is popular and successful for such a small team, even in the early stages. Stick around and see where we are in a few months, or a year. Should be fun.
545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: February 12, 2016, 09:00:37 PM
It is a very exciting time lately, and I think Expanse is a great opportunity.

Of course with increased volume and attention, some will also try to FUD the project, perhaps with legitimate concerns in their mind, perhaps because they have other interests or own something else. Just keep in mind we have been working on this for many months, and in time all concerns will be addressed, but it does take time to deliver. It is really quite simple. If you want to get in early, then you have the opportunity when you think the timing is right, if you are worried about anything at all, then just keep an eye on Expanse and see what is delivered over time.

I would also like to thank the community and supporters, and the team will be working hard on improvements and building this into something remarkable.
546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: February 12, 2016, 11:06:08 AM
Hello. If I understand correctly, the feature that distinguishes
this from Ethereum is that a premine is being controlled by
a "Ternary Division DAO". Where can I read the source code
of the said DApp?

The white paper is related to plans and not stating what is already completed, the DAO is one element that is different but is in process. Once completed everything will be available for it.

The roadmap shows what is completed and what is coming up next. So I think that is what you are looking for.

Nice profit  Grin

Indeed, it was really great.  Cheesy

Great day for Expanse, and grats to any miners or traders who got in early. Smiley

Make sure and join Slack if you want to participate in Expanse, or find out the latest news. Thanks!

548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: February 11, 2016, 11:49:53 PM
I have a more serous question about this project. As far as I understand it the only real innovation is the community DAO, which by itself is not really that innovative at all, there are other projects that have already done this.

However as far as I understand it, this is being presented as an alternative to Ethereum. I do not see what is wrong with Ethereum however since its launch was fair. Ethereum still requires a lot of development work, and I do not see how this project will be able to overtake the network effect and development that Ethereum has. I am even wondering if Expanse will be able to keep up with updating when Ethereum is updated and changed.

Furthermore I do not think that the governance of Ethereum is necessarily flawed. If you really wanted to tackle that problem there should have been a allotment in the block reward that allocates a certain percentage to Expanse funding which would then have to be voted upon by some process. Dash and Bitshares are both examples of such a process. Having a singular pre-mine like this which is supposedly decided upon by the community, with such a small group of founders, and small community I do not necessarily see that working out well.

I do not see any type of great innovation or need that this project is filling, besides maybe peoples greed wanting to jump onto the "next Ethereum" as Ethereum is currently going parabolic.

So yes I am here critiquing this cryptocurrency. Please correct me if I am wrong with a convincing argument and I might even invest myself. Wink

This will be personal opinion, and just from myself, but I am not a fan of ICOs and I have never liked them. Having an ICO and a premine feels like double dipping to me, taking as much as possible. if you prefer them then we just disagree a bit, but this is a huge difference. I also think mining is a better means of distribution, more fair, since there are more people with video cards than who can afford buying into an ICO. I also think using a reserve to bring in new talent, rather than raising outside money gives the platform and community more freedom and less outside control.

We have over 200 people in slack, I have over 5000 in the crypto club, and we have around 30k followers on social media total (the team). That is still small of course, but very focused on cryptos, so we do have a small group of loyal people. We also have connections to marketing people and plenty of plans. Certainly there are risks, but we started with nothing and plan on building something amazing out of it. I don't think anyone should get involved unless they want to, but for anyone that likes ETH, it likely wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on EXP as well.
549  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: February 11, 2016, 11:36:32 PM
not FUDing, serious question. Is 1.1 million good number? I think its too small amount for circulation, Why would anyone buy EXP if it would cost more than ETH? Thanx for answers.

Around 11k new EXP per day mining, and then there will be some gain from POS later after POW ends, and from the DAO adding devs and features, bounties and such. So the overall amount will slowly increase as the platform is improved and marketed to a wider audience.

thanks for answering the question about block times.  I still think 60 seconds is a bit slow, but it probably is not a deal breaker.

so another question for you guys.

how much in lock step is this fork to the original?  how active is the dev team in maintaining parity to the main branch?

This issue is mostly with making POW more efficient, once POS is rolled out we will most likely be dropping the blocktime to compete with 10 seconds or so.

Yes, we were just talking about this actually, since we will be updating to Homestead along with Ethereum. We will be keeping the block timing the same for now, but will likely be changing it once we switch to POS later.

The distribution is going well, and now is the time and mine/trade and get more EXP before POS starts.

ah ok so there will be POS here too?

i did not realize.  someone in the trollbox was saying if the coin was only POW it might not be able to scale TX wise with a POS coin. I actually dont know if that is true or not, and dont have time to research atm.

good to know.

We will be keeping current with Ethereum and their upgrades, and we will be going POS along with them as well, for certain. (While also offering unique interfaces and options like the DAO)
553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: February 11, 2016, 07:47:12 PM
how the wallet work?

any details?

We have a custom GUI wallet with some cool audio out now, but it is a preview version just for testing. Not for large amounts.

Here is some new info from Dan Conway on that matter:

"danconway [1:39 PM]
yeah theres a development preview of an intital GUI which looks cool and has some rich media effects -- but it is going to be replaced with a new portable dapp wallet that can be run as a platform executable or as a web app, and has modular support for other expanse dapps

[1:39]
(noteably, dapps like the DAO voting interface, so you can manage your funds, and vote on DAO issues, etc within the same client/app)"

anyone know of any other Ethereum clone that has less then 15 second block times?

No. As far as I know there were only two other Ethereum Forks, 15 seconds and 25 seconds, and I think they are having some technical issues currently.

Franko wrote a blog about block timing and why Expanse decided to be different in this manner. (We are not having technical issues)

Interesting on EXP is that you can use it as ETH.
But unlike ETH, you are still able to buy huge stake in EXP even with modest buy.

This is very true, and it isn't hype at all with this low of a marketcap. We have the design down very well for the long term. This is designed to survive first of all, and then grow and expand. Those that get in early at the right price should be quite pleased down the road. Mining, or buying a little for the long run is one of the safest moves around at this entry point. Obviously I am biased, but I also know what it takes for success and survival, and that is what we will be working on. Security first of all, and then growing when ready.
560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: January 28, 2016, 04:08:41 AM
why is price rise of expanse not corelated with ETH yet? any opinions?

I think Expanse has to last and prove the platform to enough people first. As more people get involved, and more results are delivered, this could change in the future.

In my opinion, Expanse is still in the beginning with new things to be developed on but it will rise eventually as soon as we get interest from major investors. If Microsoft used Ethereum technology for its Azure Blockchain as a Service platform, then maybe Expanse could have a similar story but getting adopted by another company like Apple. This could really get interesting, and right now I think that EXP is undervalued. It has a lot more than meets the eye.  Grin

EXP does have great possibility but its never going to get that far without it getting noticed. Right now that's a big issue.

Getting noticed isn't that hard, we can just pay for some publications and get more attention. We also have a fairly large network of people and connections as it stands now, people that we know, and we can reach quite a few people on our own when ready.

I totally understand that some people want fast and high profits, or even "deals" with major corporations for some type of hype, but perhaps they don't realize that most of the hype like that isn't actually real, or is just based on some testing that they are doing that won't actually lead to any real new demand, beyond speculation. Those of us that have traded for a long time know the story, and we have heard it time and time again. Building something real that isn't just hype, does take time, but we will be expanding the team over time to help, and within a few days we will release a detailed roadmap to show completed results, what is just about to come, and what is next. In the long run we have to build the brand, expand the community, and bring in more people that are passionate about Expanse so they can grow the project with us. So that is what we will be doing.
