5701  Other / Meta / Re: Why i am banned? on: January 04, 2019, 10:02:25 AM
Do you not feel they have not had ample opportunity to read the Meta section here? There are multiple threads weekly on this very subject. It takes all of 2 seconds for them to click the Meta button and read a few of the thread titles and see what is not acceptable here.

Not having read the rules is a very shallow excuse by the way. Plagiarism is frowned upon in every area: school, work etc.
Copying works of others is a universal issue, and it is worse if the motive behind it is for personal gain (financial or acknowledgement)

For clarity a welcome message could be added for new members and this could include the rules and guidelines and a few other vital posts.
5702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a better store of value than gold on: January 04, 2019, 09:15:46 AM
yes, I agree that we have bitcoin as a hidden asset and tax free from the government, but the downside of the bitcoin wallet is still vulnerable to security from hacker attacks

Bitcoin is not tax free, different governments and nations have different disposition to bitcoin and the digital market.
Bitcoin holders pay taxes in Canada and the USA, and most countries in Europe are looking for ways to regulate and profit from this growing market.

Bitcoin wallets are not a product of the bitcoin network, which has a very high security level.
One of the responsibilities which comes with decentralization is you are responsible for the safe keeping of your assets: wallets and exchanges you use.
5703  Other / Meta / Re: [LIST] Banned users - [TAG] Banned users on: January 04, 2019, 08:52:08 AM
This is a great project, and shows the resourcefulness of members on bitcointalk.
And this would improve the viewer experience and make it easier for those who try to maintain the standard of the forum.
5704  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is ICO actually? on: January 04, 2019, 08:41:45 AM
ICO is the process by which projects which do not have publicity or resources source for funds from the community.
It could also be used by institutions and establishments which desires to harness the potential in the blockchain technology and create a bridge which connects it and their industry.
5705  Economy / Economics / Re: The Denationalization of Money by Hayek on: January 03, 2019, 10:20:38 PM
Bitcoin is not a legal tender and would not act as one. There is no institution to regulate the value, this puts it in the hands of the community,  and forces of demand and supply.
This doesn't make it less ofba currency. It is still a means of making payments
And it is borderless and which makes it a global currency.
5706  Other / Meta / Re: What To Do? on: January 03, 2019, 05:25:19 PM
You have received lots of proactive measures to protect your accounts and possibly recover tour phone.
Resting your 2fa on binance would be a hassle,  but if you only use one account, you can prove the ownership. It's always safer to back up the unique code when securing account using Google authenticator, this way you can recover your accounts directly.
5707  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHat's Dapps !? on: January 03, 2019, 04:55:52 PM
Copying and pasting a content does not offer any new value to the community as this information is already available on the internet and can be accessed.
It is helpful, if you make it available to an audience who can't access it in its original form, like a translation.
If you come across an article you find interesting, then share it along with your own addition and opinions.
And use a link when giving credit to the source.
5708  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Still holding on ? Make use of it ! on: January 03, 2019, 04:51:44 PM
i kept searching for opportunities to "invest" my bitcoin without risking them (scams ,fishy lending sites , etc,...)  .

There is no risk-free investments,  that means there is no way to invest bitcoins without risks.
You are to weigh the potential gains and losses, and decide if it's a profitable venture, and if it's worth the risk.
Also consider that hodling your bitcoins in your wallet is also a risk.
5709  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: want someone to purchase using Credit Card, i pay in bitcoin on: January 03, 2019, 02:02:58 PM
Why not convert your bitcoin to fiat and then pay using your credit card? If you are willing to pay double, then transaction cost should not matter.

What is the guarantee that you would pay the person who makes the payment?
No one would expose their credit card details to an unknown site.
This post looks very likely be a scam.
5710  Other / Meta / Re: Share! Share !! Share !!! on: January 03, 2019, 01:57:13 PM
I thought the implementation of merits is to limit spammers and bots ,apart from spammers bots can't create topics  Cheesy  or can they?

Merit system was created to encourage quality posting and reward helpful contributions, while limiting spammers and low quality posters.

With the current state of the forum, not being a spammer is not on it's own enough to rank up. You have to know the right boards to focus on, as some boards have become spam filled and the merits circulation there has dropped.
If you keep at quality posting, you are very likely to get merits and rank up.
5711  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost Jr. Member and Can't post image on: January 03, 2019, 10:43:30 AM
To be an to post images and wear signatures, you would to earn at least one merit to rank up back to Jr member status. Check out the Enhanced newbie restrictions
Alternatively, you can purchase copper membership and get privileges of member rank on the forum.
5712  Other / Meta / Re: Account recoveries are moving again on: December 26, 2018, 05:09:45 PM
I have something in my mind and I want to be reassured:
If the owner of a locked account send an appeal from a new email, will you unlock his account?

I believe it would depend on whether or not the user has a signed message, there has to be something with which to prove that you indeed owned that account.

It is very thoughtful of the admin to be lenient and consider accounts without signatures. Every user however should endeavour to sign a message as soon as they can.
5713  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Guide for newbie traders and investors on: December 26, 2018, 12:23:27 PM
and you should always check multiple sources before making decisions.

This is one of the most important points. Always consult multiple sources, verify information on different platforms and consider different suggestions, and use it to decide next action.
Also always have the latest, up to the minute information, especially as a day trader, this would help keep you ahead of the crowd.
5714  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are your predictions for crypto-currencies in 2019? on: December 26, 2018, 10:00:14 AM
will Ripple become the new Bitcoin?

Bitcoin still exists, amd would still by next year, so there can be no 'new bitcoin'
If you mean whether or not ripple would take over the number one cryptocurrency spot from bitcoin, that is very unlikely to happen.

I expect market to continue a steady upward rise in the early parts of next year. And attract new investors so as to support major growth.
5715  Other / Meta / Re: How to check validity of this newbie account on: December 26, 2018, 09:54:34 AM
Until they are actively impersonating the person, and deceiving other members it may not be worth a red trust.
But a neutral trust witha feedback indicating it's not the actual individual can be left, so as to warn other members.

Forum usernames are just nicks, and anyone can use any available name. No doubt there are people who actually bear those names. So it might not always be a case of impersonation.
5716  Other / Meta / Re: post that is considered spam on: December 26, 2018, 09:41:25 AM
Nobody just registers on a forum and writes a post like that as their first one, not even if they were lurking for a long time.

Someone who registered few months ago, like this account can have gathered a little information about the forum from reading. But it does appear to be an alt as BPIP shows last active to be the day it was registered, this session is yet to be recorded. So the account was inactive since creation.
And yes, it surely is a bad first post, and appears to be seeking approval from other members.

OP you could search on Jet Cash's fit to talk project.
It helps users who are not native English speakers to grasp the language and be more comprehensible
5717  Other / Meta / Re: Can we regulate the trust system ? on: December 25, 2018, 02:51:48 PM
I agree that an unofficial guideline could be drawn out to govern the trust system.
The issue I think arises from the text associated with trust feedbacks; Warning! Trade with extreme caution. It makes it seem like it only concerns trades. But I believe it roughly covers interactions with other users.

If a user is known for giving false facts about bitcoin, this is not an offense worthy of a ban. But it could be misleading to other members. And could be worthy of a red tag.

I agree it should not be used against users who disagree with your opinion or are expressing themselves, in however eccentric a manner.

5718  Other / Meta / Re: Ban evasion if a user asks for changing his account in a bounty because of ban? on: December 25, 2018, 02:38:56 PM
Any post made by a banned user outside an appeal thread is classified as ban evasion and such account should be banned. And any account opened by the user.
They can no longer earn from the forum.

Bounty managers should be sensitized on how to handle situations like these, maybe save the work they have done and communicate further through telegram.
5719  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let me be clear to you, this is not a Bear Martket! on: December 25, 2018, 02:32:38 PM
I am sure, we need to see bitcoin as a currency instead of an investment here!

This can only be propagated by merchants and retail stores, both on and offline. Bitcoin circulation os spread among various countries. But it's not a readily available payment option when looking to make purchases. Except for some online services.

Volatility is one of the reasons it isn't yet accepted globally. And adoption is needed to reduce volatility
5720  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Message Changed | Can someone create an analysis on: December 25, 2018, 01:31:46 PM
We just got a new ban appeal thread. And the member was quickly exposed as a copy paster, but yet started a thread, and claimed to only write original content.

It was suggested to put a link to the reason for Ban, but that is a lot of work. And I fear we would still have such threads regardless.
Plagiarists do not read the rules, or the numerous appeal threads, so very possibly majority of them would always appeal regardless what is done
