OK, need some help guys. Using the official crypti guide:

https://github.com/crypti/crypti-docs/blob/master/install.md

Which you guys know I've installed successfully many times. On my linux AWS t2.micro, i've re-installed and ran it many different way and still get the same outcome. I've tried restarting app.js, i've tried deleting logs.log and restarting. deleting blockchain.db, deleting both blockchain and logs. Every time it results in the same thing. When I go to the web wallet I see this screen over and over. The only thing that changes is the block number its on and when it gets to the last one it starts over.

I once saw the login screen briefly but then it went back to the loading screen. Any ideas?

Can someone please update the blockchain.db.zip here?

~informer

Boris has already been working on trying to get the blockchain sync working better without requiring you download the version from the site. Right now we are seeing this same problem on some of our tester team who had been on testnet for days with no issues, so it isn't just you. We will post an update as soon as we have a fix available but I will pass on a note to see if they can help you in the meantime.

Any updates updates on this issue? I woke up today and opened my wallet to a login screen. Logged in successfully only to find it's still syncing:

~informer

Dont confuse SYNC with DOWNLOAD.

The FIRST time you install the node, it has a blockchain.db file that it SYNCS to the network, then DOWNLOADS the blocks written since the blockchain.db file was updated.

The NEXT TIME and all other times you start the node, it SYNCS the blockchain.db file in your C:/CryptiWallet directory to the network, and then DOWNLOADS the newest blocks to catch up.

I know that it APPEARS that the node is downloading again, and I pointed this out during testing.  I would have added a text to explain this on the node, but the coders feel that since XCR has attracted the smartest users on the net, that they would understand the diff between SYNC and DOWNLOAD.

As for that little grey sync block at the lower right corner, that should show up for every block after the forging winner is chosen.  The temp algo for the forging allows each node to think it has won the forging contest.  Once the blockchain has the real forging winner recorded, your node must update its blockchain.db.  Should only take a few seconds.

I don't see why it would be a problem for merchants to have people able to check how much they take. It wouldn't be showing their profits or necessarily which items were being sold, which might be more sensitive, just purely their turnover.
It's actually a huge problem. For a business privacy is paramount, much more than to an avarage individual. Transparency is not good for business.

Just one example: Let's say I'm running a succesful shop built on crypti, selling amazon gift cards. When somebody else have the same idea, the first thing they do is check out the competition. How much business they do? That much? Let's do it then. Also, let's get in touch with their costumers and offer them a 10% discount to try us out. If crypti will have  messaging built in, this would be trivially easy.

Certainly transparent transactions are not good at all. That is why anonimity will have to be implemented to secure info on accounts .

Point #1  When I buy on Ebay, I can see the past transactions of the seller.  That has been an acceptable part of Ebay since the beginning.

Point #2  The blockchain will not show the profit of the merchant.  It will only show the transaction amount.  Not every transaction results in PROFIT.  I learned that the hard way... I had my own business for 30 years

Point #3  Merchants will not be handling EVERY SALE thru the XCR blockchain, and therefore their total sales cannot be known, just like on Ebay.

Point #4  You have assumed that the VERIFIED MERCHANT will be locked into one wallet address for eternity.  The code for this has not been developed yet, so I am just speculating that a VERIFIED MERCHANT will be able to generate new wallet addresses and have them linked to his VM account.

I do read this thread and watch for new postings.

You have some great ideas for discussion, 5000.

As I said, I don't speak for the community on this matter, I'm just stating my opinion. In fact my opinion is quite heavily biased, due to a number of reasons, most prominently being the fact that I dislike selling off 10% of a coin's supply to join another network. So my opinion is not from a neutral point of view.

I don't really have a problem with SuperNET itself (barring some of it's financial requirements, e.g. needing 10% of a coin's supply to enter), what I have a problem with is some of the coins on the network. The difference between a partnership between Storj and Crypti and Crypti & SuperNET is that with Storj & Crypti, both are providing mutual benefits to each other.

Storj will provide it's front-end apps, DriveShare and MetaDisk which will work with Crypti's custom blockchain support to facilitate the whole process (at least that's how it may work hypothetically). It would be a mutual partnership. However with SuperNET, you'll have coins like BoolBerry, which have no reason to really exist, keeping up their userbase by leeching of Crypti's features.  Therefore BoolBerry would be providing Crypti zero functionality, while Crypti would be providing BoolBerry everything else.

That's just one example I can think of, there are probably many more scenarios where other coins could leech off Crypti. Others may see it as a supplement to Crypti, in my opinion I see it as a chance for other coins to leech off Crypti. Then again, my opinion, is just my opinion, I'm probably not as open minded on things like this compared to others.

Wulf, SuperNet is the "League of Nations" for the internet.  All hat, no horse.

James only keeps BoolBerry around so he can boast "BoolBerry coin went up 100X...... It can happen to your coin"

Everybody here is concentrating on making a quality product, and letting the competition do the worrying.

Are the prices now lower than the original IPO? Looks like it.

Someone dumped 22000XCR on Cryptsy to drop the price to 550.  It is still 1004/913 on Bter.

Even there 913 is just hitting the IPO prices.

Yes, but dont confuse PRICE and VALUE.

Quoted from J1777 post above:

Anyway, I am glad 5000bitcoins is open minded enough to actually learn about SuperNET before making any decisions. Does any other network allow routing to an address without any node actually knowing its IP address (without broadcasting)? This is just one feature of SuperNET and it is continually being improved.

I dont think that James realizes that Crypti is not meant to be in any way an anonymous network.  Crypti is to have VERIFIED MERCHANTS. The process is still in debate for verification, but it will be complete enough so that a user will be absolutely sure who they are sending their coins to, and they will have an opportunity to call back the transaction within a certain time limit.  There is even plans for in-wallet escrow services.

How would he integrate XCR, designed to be anonymous-proof, onto a network that has anonymity "that is continually being improved?"
anonymity from people you want to stay anonymous from
people you transact with will of course know each other, and verifiably so

you can always not use the anon features if you really want govt workers to be reading all your internet usage

James

P.S. maybe crypti's unique feature can be that it does everything in cleartext Smiley

Or copy SuperNet and use ROT13?   Grin  Grin  Grin

I just downloaded the Windows wallet: how do I add my secret passphrase to start forging?

Go to FORGING PANEL first........... type in passphrase, or use CTRL V to paste,

Then go to account page by entering pass.  You cannot go to account and then get to FORGING without log out of account.

IF you see FORGING ENABLED in forging tab, you are forging, If not, you are not forging

REPOST FROM PAGES BACK..............................

hi, someone make video how to forge ?  Smiley

Do this exactly:

1) have 1000 or more XCR in your wallet/node.

2) open the windows Crypti wallet/node

3) Now you see the account log in.  In the upper right corner is a box "forging panel".  Click on that and it takes you to the forging tab.

4) enter your passphrase for the wallet/node having 1000 or more XCR  Use CTRL-V to paste your passphrase if necessary.  Copy/PASTE may not work for everyboby.

5) If successful, the log in box will indicate forging has started. You will also see FORGING ENABLED in the forging tab

6) NOW, you can log in to the account to see your wallet/node balance and the blockchain.

7) you log out of forging  by using your passphrase in the forging panel box.  If you do not log out manually in the forging panel, forging will restart automatically when you restart the Cryptiwallet next time

You can save your passphrase in the config.json file under " password".  Edit it in Notepad.

I'm still trying to get a Linux node to work. But I'll be damn if I didn't get a windows wallet web-kit (w3K) installed and within 10 minutes forged 100 XCR!

btw- Its on an AWS t2.micro Windows 2012 R2 standard

~informer

Can you please explain more on how you're doing this ? I would like to do the same.

My wallet has forging enabled for almost 2 hours now but nothing forged yet.  Huh

It was truly luck of the draw. I've read somewhere on here that it goes to the forge that's been up longest. But that can't be true 'cause they would then all go to the main servers on not the forgers out here like you and I. If you have a wallet forging already on say a home PC you may want to consider launching a virtual machine in a cloud service somewhere like Amazon Web Services or digital ocean (there's a lot out there just goolge free cloud servers). They have very high availability and a lot of the micro servers out there are actually free of charge. There are some guides out there on how to get started with those:

https://github.com/crypti/crypti-docs

http://aws.amazon.com/
Here instead of creating an ubuntu server just choose Windows 2012 R2 Standard instead. Then connect from within your AWS console.

~btw I haven't forged any additional XCR since that first 100 today.

~informer

Yes, you were super lucky.  I have been up since 2 hours before the release and still have not forged a single block.

There is not a Proof of Time algo right now.... as  GreXX explained earlier.  The block forging is mostly random with some luck from your ping latency.
591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Crypti | XCR | Ͼ | 3 PoS algorithms | Ed25519 | 2nd Gen Source on: October 12, 2014, 07:53:36 PM
all this is new for me , have to read a lot of info but all this sounds interesting .

before i am going to read what is the big difference between mining and forging??

i am doing it already btw , lol

Mining is accomplished by a computer using its CPU, or GPU cards, or an ASIC unit to receive a block hash which is then run through all possible combinations of an encryption algorithm to get a specified net value, usually X number of zeros front/rear or both.  With the present state of the art and difficulty in most coins, mining is no longer profitable as it consumes more electricity than the value of the mined coins.

Miners also verify transactions that have occurred on the network and earn a small amount of coins for that effort.  A minumum number of transactions and therefore miners are needed to verify a transaction, usually 6 to 60, depending upon the coin.

Forging is using your computer CPU to verify transactions that occur in the network.  This is how coins that cannot be mined have their transactions verified, and keep the network open and running.  The computer that forges (verifies) the block earns a portion of the transaction fee.
592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Crypti | XCR | Ͼ | 3 PoS algorithms | Ed25519 | 2nd Gen Source on: October 12, 2014, 07:45:11 PM
Now that we know how SuperNet is and it's impact, what do we think of it? I know we dismissed the idea in the past but now that we've seen what it is it is worth a second thought.
Crypti is only as useful as it is used, it is a currency made for using - without usage, it fills no functions. Holders, spenders, forgers.
Joining supernet in Crypti's case in my opinion isn't "hoping for a quick raise, or buck, then it will return to normal" but more so an increased value in the network which thrives on movement.

In my opinion it could help XCR. Volume wise, transactionwise, exposure & new forgers, arbitrage incentive to move coins etc.
Just trying to brainstorm how we can attract and award forgers while waiting for new business so people aren't forging empty transactions.
We need to make people move their coins, buy and sell to make a healthy network.

More than less, in my humble opinion.

Hey 5000.... could you enlighten me on the latest on SuperNet?  I and the others have been so involved with this coin that we have not paid any attention to the competition.  Either here or in your new BTT thread. TIA
593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Crypti | XCR | Ͼ | 3 PoS algorithms | Ed25519 | 2nd Gen Source on: October 12, 2014, 03:00:38 PM

For me, two problems:
1. It's rediculous that sync from network does not work, I must download the database separately
2. The memory consumption issue is not acceptable. You can't blame node-webkit, because for me it's run in a headless linux server, no node-webket is involved.
and we can see that the memory consumption grows along with block loading. So the only reason is the horrible memory manament of crypti.

When you restart the wallet/node it does not download the blockchain from the network again.  It first syncs its existing blockchain.db file (located in C:\CryptiWallet) with the network, and then downloads any blocks added since your last sync.

I know it APPEARS as if it is downloading all over again....... I pointed this out in the testing we did prior to release.  It and a few other things are on the table to be changed.

20 BTC sell wall on 1000 sat, whats wrong with Crypti.. such big amount of IPO, what do devs with the BTc?Huh  Angry

don't worry)) everything will be cool) speculators...

Those 20BTC sell wall and many others on Bter before that, are all FAKE! This is just a game for big holders of Crypti are playing so people dump their holdings for small price.
So dont get bothered by this.

As the financial advisor and bookeeper for Crypti, I can assure you that the IPO BTC is safely stored in two exchanges.  No funds get spent or withdrawn without 5 people agreeing on the payment, and 3 signing off on it with multisigs and 2FA.

Crypti does not use their funds to manipulate the coin price.

Absolutely!

I didnt mean that Crypti devs are playing with price though.

You guys do not want to listen to me, you have not solved the problem with memory
5000 Bitcoins, Litoshi for you all is well. When in fact the problem is not solved
If the memory problem is not resolved, the project can be considered a failure

All is well. All you do is bash Crypti and hail Node in all your posts.

I obviously don't share the same values as you do (bashing other coins thinking my coin is gonna become better because of that)
I rather contribute to what I believe to be superior technology to help it grow instead of trolling other threads.

I think that's why people don't listen to you

I support Crypti and have more than 200 000 coins, but for some reason you do not want to solve the fundamental problem. It's important now

It appers you are an expert!
I think it would be much more usefull to give solutions rather than criticize regarding your expertise. Especially if you in a strange way somehow support Crypti.

A little research on his other BTT posts reveals this:

I am now forging.  Smiley

Took me 1 minute to set up. Ridicuously easy, why hasn't this become 100x more popular than mining stuff?

I spend nothing, I do nothing yet I earn and contribute. Will let you in how goes in terms of return on investment after I let it run for a while. Very smooth sailing.

Because of the TEMPORARY random algo that replaces the Proof of TIme Algo, you will see almost every block show up on your forging screen as a forge.  It is only a possible forge.  Every node online gets this possible forge, then one is chosen at random for the actual forge.

You can also see this in the blockchain tab.  Your wallet number will show as the generator for the top block, then be replaced by the lucky wallet.

Again, this is only a temporary measure until the PoT algo is bug free

Litoshi, as far as you know, will the upcoming fix for the PoT algo (not the current temporary solution), retain the consistent block times that the current solution has brought about?

I am not a coder.  My position here is community relations, financial advisor, and now bookeeper was added to my job.

Boris (Crypti) is the main coder.

As far as I know, the Proof of Time algo and the custom blockchains are the two most important features for this coins immediate future.  Boris has had little sleep for the past week, putting in 20 hour days.  Once he has caught up on his sleep debt, he and the other coders will be back to work on the code.
