The support staff say it's because my mailbox doesn't accept the provider of such confirmation emails, called a mailgun or something.

However, I've Always received those emails in the very same mailbox, so that's strange.

I've contacted another support staffmember of Cryptsy and he/she did also told me to provide the answers to my security questions. So I think i'm going to do that and hope the 2-way auth- security will save my balance Wink

622  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Risks of buying Amazon.com gift cards / gift codes on: January 24, 2015, 12:02:22 PM

Hi all,

On this forum I see daily transactions of people buying and selling Amazon.com gift cards and gift codes. What are the actual risks regarding buying these codes? Sure, I know the seller can keep the code after you sent you BTC, or he can send you a invalid code. However, I do also read replies over here that people are that these codes can be bought with hacked accounts and thus stolen money. Is that true?

Will it harm me if I use such "illegal codes"?

I'm asking this because I want to buy something on Amazon.com (to use for my work) but I'm short of some dollars because of the sending fee. As I don't own an American bank account neither a Credit Card, and I can't use PayPal or Bitcoin to pay at Amazon.com, I think buying these gift cards / gift codes is the only way for me to credit my balance.

I would like to hear your opinion about this. Thanks in advance!

Why don't you use purse.io. Will allow you to purchase cards safely and at a discount.
Try purse.io for amazon stuff + discounts

I've never heard over Purse.io untill now. Are you familiar with that website? Do they offer legit gift codes?

I will have a look later on, as I'm a weekend gone for work now. Thanks for your advice!

Amazon now accept BTC??? Shocked Shocked Shocked

No. That would be great if they do, but they don't. What we're talking about is that you can buy Amazon gift cards / gift codes here on the forum from other people and pay it with BTC.

See the marketsection of this forum, and then the digital goods part (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=93.0).
624  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.035 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE *New rules on: January 23, 2015, 08:09:45 PM
Imo a higher rate wouldn't be bad, because the current price of Bitcoin is really low. Also, it's the aniversary of 1 year of this campaing, so we could do with a higher rate for celebration Smiley
I think they are making a killing in Bitmixer.io and could afford ro raise it a bit, just my 2sats.

Obviously still some people are promoting Bitmixer with the current values. And I think Bitmixer is happy about that, otherwise they would already have raised the rate in order to attract more participants Wink.

Sure, for promotors higher rates are better. But hey, see these campaigns as an extra for participate on this forum and not the other way around; thus don't see participating on this forum as a way of earning some extra bucks.
625  Local / Beurzen / Re: BTC Withdrawal bij Cryptsy on: January 23, 2015, 07:25:34 PM

626  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Risks of buying Amazon.com gift cards / gift codes on: January 23, 2015, 07:22:45 PM
There was a thread on this exact same subject about a month ago with a lot of helpful replies. Not sure what forum it was in, though. Basically it is very risky buying amazon codes that have a ridiculous discount. If they're selling for 30-50% of their value they're probably stolen codes. If you do use a stolen code there is a chance that you could get into trouble legally but the mos that would happen would probably be it gets reversed.

Alright. I haven't noticed that topic yet. I think it's quite hard now the search function of this forum is disabled. Thank you for your reply!

I see some people asking 10% or 15% less than the value of these codes. I think these might be legit, but I'll keep on searching.
627  Economy / Service Discussion / Can't withdraw BTC on Cryptsy on: January 23, 2015, 05:28:20 PM
Is anyone else experiencing problems with withdrawing BTC or other coins from Cryptsy currently?

The withdrawal confirmation email - which you should confirm before the withdrawal is processed -doesn't hit my mailbox.  Now I've opened a ticket about this, and emails about replies to that ticket (from the very same emailaddress as the withdrawal confirmation email use to be sent from) do hit my mailbox.

Does anyone know how to fix this? The support staff said that I should change my emailaddress, but the email to confirm that doesn't hit my mailbox either. That person told me he/she could do that for me if I provided him / her with details of my security questions, but I don't think that's a good idea as those details give him / her full access to my account..

628  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Risks of buying Amazon.com gift cards / gift codes on: January 23, 2015, 05:16:22 PM
Thanks for your reply! Did you created an account just to answer my question? That's kind of you Wink.

I've got one code, received (for almost free) from the great BiPolarBob which worked fine. So that one was legit / legal.  But now I'm still short of some dollars for my order, so I guess I will try to find anyone who is legit too. I just found out this topic of someone named 'Tecshare" (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=841162.0) who obviously seems legit too. I think i'll contact him later on.

Again, thank you!

Congratz!

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

630  Economy / Speculation / Re: If you sold right now, how much would you lose? on: January 23, 2015, 03:55:40 PM
I'm not really sure how much money I put into Bitcoin. I've made some great profits with mining some coins in the earlier days, but I also don't know what that mining did cost me (with regard to electricity costs etc).

However, due to some (ASIC) scams and unlucky investments I lost a big part of my BTC. With my current balances, with the current value, I think I somehow break even with the costs i've made so far.

(Although Bitcoin brought me much experience, which is priceless Smiley)
631  Other / Meta / Re: **** ALL THAT PONZI SHIT **** on: January 23, 2015, 03:51:37 PM
Ponzi = scam
IMO, ponzi owner always create fake deposit and payment first to attract people.
that 's what i want to know , ponzi obviously a scam
why they didn't ban it

Much of the ponzi in the gambling section at the moment are ponzi based games. They are not like normal ponzi hiding everything without people knowing the risks. They are upfront about everything, everyone knows the risk. Kind of like how people play dice game they know the risk and chance of losing but with ponzi you rely on other people to get your pay.

Indeed, you know that there is a risk. However, you don't know anything about probability changes. In Dice games you do know, atleast, if they're legit.

However, you must be willing to take the loss if you participate in a Ponzi. Even though it looks nice sometimes, I think you're loosing more than you will receive in return Wink.
632  Other / Meta / Re: **** ALL THAT PONZI SHIT **** on: January 23, 2015, 03:34:27 PM
I've also mentioned this in another topic regarding this subject. Some people see it as a kind of investment game. IF the ponzi owner clearly states the risks, thus that's it's likely that you loose your investment if no new participants join the ponzi after you, and participants agree with that and take the risk with investing, I don't think it's a bad thing.

However, joining some strange websites that assure an XX profit on your investment in XX days is something else: if these websites are ponzi's and they do not clearly state this, they should be punished in my opinion. The least we can do is prevent the promotion of such websites on this forum.

Ik had het al gezien. Van harte gefeliciteerd PsychoticBoy! Smiley

Good to keep you onboard Wink.

635  Local / Beurzen / BTC Withdrawal bij Cryptsy on: January 23, 2015, 02:39:29 PM
Beste Nederlandstalige Bitcointalkers,

636  Local / Off-topic (Nederlands) / Amazon(.com) gift codes kopen on: January 23, 2015, 12:53:32 PM

637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com/download — Guldenwallet now available in the App Store on: January 23, 2015, 10:15:13 AM
I haven't followed this topic for some days, but that are great updates guys! I just found the app in the App Store. Although I'm not able to pay with Guldencoin here (offline) in the area, I'm going to download it Wink.

Together with the PaySafeCards I think GuldenCoin is doing a great job to keep ahead of other altcoins. Well done!

639  Other / Meta / Re: Ponzi "Game" == Negative Trust? on: January 20, 2015, 11:45:46 AM
I'm curious how one would go about building a provably fair ponzi. With the majority of the dice sites out there, while you have a net -ve EV at least you can ensure the game is run fairly. With all these ponzis it would seem trivial for the operator to open a round and fund the first block of bets. If the ponzi goes nowhere, no loss to them. If it's a success, they've made a bunch of BTC with no risk to themselves.
It's a little different with these Ponzis than with a dice game, as Stunna could play as many rolls as he wanted to without affecting other players.

Exactly this is the point where those in favour of the ponzi usually start to question whether provably fair is fair in the first place instead of confronting the argument. Cant really blame them as its hard to prove you did not do something.

I don't think a ponzi can be made provably fair at all. How can you stop the ponzi operator to make a bunch of early deposits in each round?
You can't and that is the problem. The ponzi operator is going to know the exact time when a round opens so he can easily have transactions prepared to send to his deposit address while others would need to stumble across an advertisement for the ponzi and send funds to it

Well I cant, but I am willing to believe that someone smarter than me could invest heavily into the idea and come up with a solution. Yes, its impossible to prove that the operator is not playing, but it might be possible to remove the operator from the game. Thus the person in charge (operator) would be able to play, but be at risk of losing the same way everyone else does.

I don't think you're able to remove the operator from the game, as, especially with bitcoin, everyone obviously can participate and you don't know which wallet belongs to who.

"Thus the person in charge (operator) would be able to play, but be at risk of losing the same way everyone else does". Indeed. The only solution for that is script the game / system in such way that it organizes completely random rounds, or atleast creates random rounds.  (However, I think most operators are in such situation able to somehow get a message when a new round has started).

640  Other / Meta / Re: Ponzi "Game" == Negative Trust? on: January 17, 2015, 01:16:42 PM
What is the final purpose of a ponzi schemes ? I think all we know the history or not ?

Their purpose? To make money for the owners? like any other business

Ok , thanks for the information. So in this case all the ponzi schemes are legit , no problem.

Redsnow we are talking about goddamn ponzi games... Not ponzi schemes.

The ponzi games working around the ponzi schemes , because if I will invest for first and no one after me invest I will not receive nothing. So the base of a ponzi game , is a ponzi scheme.

You canno't talk about the ponzi games , they  don't exist.

I think because these Ponzi games are working around the ponzi schemes (which they do), does make you able to talk about ponzi games.

In my opinion something is a forbidden ponzi scheme IF the participants are NOT aware of the fact that they are participating in a ponzi scheme.   In (most) of these games, it's clearly stated that they are participating in a ponzi, and therefore explicitly take the risk that comes with the game by participating.

Whether of not these ponzi games should be banned from this forum or in total, I don't know. Personally I should allow them AS LONG AS they clearly mention the rules of the game, thus clearly mention that you are participating in a ponzi and therefore it's likely that you lose your investment (if your not one of the very early participants).
