Wow, what a game. After 3-3, I thought that I was right, but still Girona snatched the victory. But by the way, this does not negate the fact that a bet on Atlético to win with odds of 6 looks like value.
Judging by the statistics, a draw would be a fair outcome, but... maybe this is champion luck?  Roll Eyes
My condolences to Morata who scored a hat-trick but there is no way to rejoice because of the final result.

Didn't watch but I agree on stats. First half was very even, and score should have been 3-3 for not VAR or 4 goals for Morata, but 2nd half belonged to Simeone's team for sure, Girona keeper made 8 saves!! So I think even Atletico win was fair outcome but draw is most balanced. Bookies made Girona the favorite but I guess they know about good finishing while Atletico still getting used to letting in many goals.
622  Economy / Speculation / Re: 112 days waiting for bitcoin halving!! on: January 04, 2024, 10:01:58 AM
Don't make the mistake of early people. Halving doesn't affect demand, it affects new supply.

You got it right.

The concept of Bitcoin halving is that it reduces the rate of new Bitcoin that are already being produced, thereby making it a serious challenge for miners to mine new coins, inadvertently driving up prices as there would be increase in demand. If this reduction in supply growth is paired together with its growing demand, it therefore contributes to the appreciation of worth of Bitcoin's value over time. In short, halving affects miners and shrinks their power in the market.

You kind of got it wrong too. You don't just get increased demand simply because there is less supply. Thousands of alts and NFTs proved this wrong already, trying to justify expensive tokens just because there is so few of them.

Demand comes from utility, period. Yes, miners will try to sell a a premium to make up for reduced gains from block rewards, but that is nothing to do with increased demand. There will come a time when demand will meet or overcome supply but supply alone doesn't push demand.
623  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🌍⚽Sportsbet.io AFCON 2024 prediction pool discussion thread on: January 04, 2024, 08:57:51 AM
@Trofo yes please that is an excellent option! I was about to even ask someone if they are willing to put sidebet for me for 1 mbtc because min withdraw at SB/LC is 2 mbtc lol

Anyway, I am indeed going to be sad if nobody considers AFC Cup, but I see many people here already do, so I smile with tears jk Wink

The reality is we must go with majority and easy to find. I know betting is easy, watching is also easy for us in Asia, all TV shows it easily for free, but the timezones are way crazy for everyone else. And no easy way to calculate points, so we have to be realistic.

But you guys understand it is 90% the other way around for us, imagine missing almost all the live games, and BSFL deadlines of 1/2am lol

But if we only choose 1, AFCON please! We want games people watch and I don't think we've got that many Asian timezone peeps (sorry guys, majority haha).
I'm not sure you're right to be honest, there are maybe more Bitcointalk members belonging to the Asian timezone than the African/European one actually, many members come from Indonesia, Philippines, India, East Russia(Russia could join AFC in the coming years btw), Australia, etc, so it's sad Superbru doesn't cover it because it would interest many people IMO, I hope they will do it next year.

You're right. I remember meta section showing majority of users here belong from India timezone until Indonesia timezone. I am in Beijing timezone myself, +8 UTC. And I'm quite surprised you know about Russia joining AFC Smiley

On the other hand I hate to say this but majority of users from my corner of world aren't 'quality' users. Mostly spammers, signature collecting and bounty chasing. Even in gambling section I have to say I know almost for sure which posters are from my region, and they don't gamble. I don't see them in casino chats, not in pools, no posting bets etc. Not everyone of course, but general impression. I feel ashamed sometimes actually seeing their bad posts and a few words they forgot to machine translate (I can read their language) so I know where they're from.

I tried to click on the Zed Run than I saw it was horsebetting but there are two horsebetting on sportsbet so it doesnt make sense to have 2 icons in it si I googled what Zed Run is and this is what I got

Pretty cool huh to have a blockchain game actually integrated their game into a huge sportsbetting site like sportsbet. Im not sure if Zed Run has been on sportsbet for some time or not but this is the first time I actually saw them

I saw that too! It doesn't load for me though, or rather, it tries to load and I can see like something appearing for a milisecond, then blank.

Blockchain based gaming is such a little developed area. They did dice, they did crash game, they even did lottery (like on freebitcoin) but until today no new game tried to use blockchain randomness and hash to build a new game so if this is it, well done!

I signed up to AFCON pool thank you for the invite. I must have missed something about it though cause I didn't see any fees just the email invite?

I was gonna say that the first question was deliberately worded so that all of us answer that there will be a lot of goals. But since Trofo also answered 4+ goals, I guess the result is somewhat unexpected. Now I expect that Girona and Athletico Madrid end up with a draw so I get my first point. I don't like choosing a draw but I have a feeling that this match could end like that.

I would also have chosen draw if I played but my mind easily imagines of 2-2 in any case BTTS was the most likely, 0-0 doesn't happen a lot with these teams both want to win.
626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin anniversary 3-Jan-2024 - celebration with Bitcoin Knots nodes on: January 03, 2024, 12:01:02 PM
'also ensures bitcoins you receive are both real bitcoins and really yours'
If you are not running your own node, then you can't really be sure that the bitcoin you receive are real and really yours. Whichever third party node or server you are connecting to in order to obtain your wallet balances and transactions could be feeding you fake information.

This is one of the reasons you should run your own node if possible, but you should choose good node software like Bitcoin Core or RoninDojo, and definitely not Knots.

Ah, I see, I had no idea. My understanding is, if I own my keys, then if the blockchain looks up my address and it sees a balance, it must be true. If a node feeds me fake info, wouldn't other nodes detect this and then block it off?

Bitcoin Core seems too difficult to manage for someone who doesn't own a computer (desktop). But thank for new info, I didn't really know this.

Lol @myself for the freebets I placed yesterday. I shoulda gone for something much more 'impossible' like 10x odds or around there, I keep regressing to old habits and losing so easily. Villareal are in deep deep trouble, and amazingly Milan are out of it. Brighton and West Ham couldn't score.

Or those results are New Year Day 'recoveries' lol

AFCON!!!

All the best in the New Year, lads!
I'll let my team rest during this Cup distraction and then stamp slaman29's ticket to Division 2.

We have some interesting sports events coming to us in early 2024, it's gonna be a fun one.

Don't be so sure of that cryptofrka, I have told my team they have 1 mission, to drag you back to hell with us. If I'm going down again, I want to take my enemies with me lol

I'm still enjoying honeymoon of work in 2024 but next week bosses all come back in HQ and we are expecting no good news as usual, I'll be BSFL-ing to cure my sadness.

Oh man I saw this 10day Blitz promo so late, and what a terrible time to deposit btc, I just transferred all my btc a few days ago in my wallet and paid $25 fees (and that wasn't top fees). Should have just sent it to SB Sad

Happy New Year gamblers Smiley

Hmmm, this part

'also ensures bitcoins you receive are both real bitcoins and really yours'

Which wallet doesn't do this, btw? Has there ever been a wallet that doesn't ensure real btc and doesn't ensure its really yours?

spam-free Bitcoin is not as easy to determine than spam-free forum. It's not someone but many someones out there who think that's not spam. I think it's spam, I'll never pay for a picture I don't find is art I want on my wall but its not for me to judge.
632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 01, 2024, 03:44:52 PM
Well done entebah, please everybody take it easy and let me get up the spots Smiley

I don't know why I still wanted to trust Man U, they win from luck and randomness, but if you don't play your best, you will lose in EPL and ManU are probably the team trying the least effort in all 20 teams. Except Bruno who is EPL's most played player...

I really need this hard reset too, although last cup round was bad at least I earned 1 victory after that.

Happy New Year everyone, rest and recharge.

For 2024:
- don't trust Chelsea + ManU
- leave Newcastle behind
- pick NO in tennis for seeds

Smiley

I am now waiting for Full Schedule after Round 10 to see who I must beat to get out of this shitty situation of being sat on by everybody lol
I got you bro @ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5438071.msg63089631#msg63089631

I missed that but when I saw it I remember I saw it before. Every big name in the next rounds, but mafia partner is up first, I have to take him down!

Thanks Smiley
634  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Master the Art of Crypto Trading with These 5 Simple Tips on: January 01, 2024, 01:40:20 PM
Jesus Christ I was at least expecting something new. Sorry but Master Trading or whatever is not attainable from tips lol.

Hi, thank you for your honest feedback. I appreciate that you have a different perspective on trading and I respect your experience and skills. I’m sorry that my tips didn’t meet your expectations, but I hope you understand that they are not meant to be a comprehensive guide to master trading. They are just some basic principles that I have learned from my own journey and I wanted to share them with others who might find them helpful.

I agree with you that trading requires hard work, discipline, and skill at analysis without bias. I’m always eager to learn new things and improve my trading performance. That’s why I created this thread, to exchange ideas and insights with other traders. I would love to hear more about your strategies and tips, and maybe we can learn from each other.

Happy New Year! Smiley

I have the same perspective actually, as all serious traders (except I'm not a trader, but I used to be). I'm just being upfront about it.

I'm less worried about you meeting 'my expectations' but more worried about the misleading posts in trading to newbies. I really hate that majority of 'advice' on youtube or even here trick people into thinking they can be good traders when really if you want to educate people, tell them the cold facts, tell them they will likely lose money. Say that they will probably never master trading.

Your tips are as I said basic ground rules. It's not unique to your journey.

Here's my tip that's a real tip from my trading journey almost no socalled Master Trader will never tell you because they don't want you to know how bad they really are. I'm not sarcastic this time Smiley

Get a buddy system. Another trader who knows your trades. If ever you like doing something risky? Like moving stop loss or going 100x leverage? Make sure you confirm with buddy. It's not his money, so he has no greed. He will stop you 9 out of 10 times from doing dumb things.
635  Economy / Speculation / Re: 112 days waiting for bitcoin halving!! on: January 01, 2024, 11:51:47 AM
Where the block reward of Bitcoin will decrease from BTC6.25 to BTC3.125 and at that time we will see more demand for Bitcoin, and expect a gradual change in the Bitcoin market.

Don't make the mistake of early people. Halving doesn't affect demand, it affects new supply.

I still think demand has not yet grown to the point that new supply matters. Have you ever heard of an exchange running out of BTC? Or orderbooks so consumed by buyers that they look so heavy on demand side?

I think it happens some day but not yet, for sure not because of halving.

637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2023/2024 on: December 31, 2023, 01:23:35 PM
It's funny that last season I performed well in all polls except Serie A, and this season I perform better in Serie A than in all other polls  Grin It would be better if I continued to fail here, but maintained my position in the remaining polls  Roll Eyes
had similar situation last season with this pool, I am bad with Calcio, and usually spill down in second half, although another good round is in for me

but I will try to improve on La Liga, for three seasons it was my playground, and after losing last season, it seems that I can go back to top
being back to drawing board, and now is a time to catch up with top, it is a small difference between 2-15 position, and only top1 is far away

I found out long time ago that pool position is more about luck than knowledge, at least this is my experience based on thinking I know the most about La Liga and yet did the worst there, while doing better in leagues I only follow from results.

Such was my experience this season too, getting a prize from F1 pool which I totally don't know anything about so only can pick based on results.

GL to cup monsters. After the R4, it's semifinals!

hahahaha no chance man, luck is not in my side this round, losing two points in a miracle way, the first one with the late goal of ipswich and the second with the incredible come back of Manchester united.

If I knew in the beginning Leeds was the one to decide my fate, I would surely not have chosen YES. Miracles are what I need now
639  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Master the Art of Crypto Trading with These 5 Simple Tips on: December 31, 2023, 11:19:38 AM
Jesus Christ I was at least expecting something new. Sorry but Master Trading or whatever is not attainable from tips lol.
I tend to agree, I didn't see something new in those tips, besides, it has been discussed here so many times.

But for me, the most important is the stop-loss, when to enter or exit a trade and have a plan or stick to the plan.
By doing this you can manage and minimize possible losses that you may encounter.

It's not even a tip though. I said in my post. These are basic ground rules for trading. Prerequisites. If you go into a shop and preorder stuff, you must know the price you're willing to buy right?

It's like saying, tip to live longer when driving, wear your seat belt. It's not a tip lol. It's a rule that guarantees you bad stuff if you don't follow.
640  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 10000$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: December 30, 2023, 09:56:49 AM
But me and LTU_btc are all even until H2H left, can't believe we both lost on last question. I chose 4 points and he chose 6, I knew Arsenal would drop points but come on man, losing at home to Moyes sheesh that's the meaning of taking risk but not enough.
After Arsenal lost game, I was disappointed, but I didn't realized that this result doesn't fits for you too. Sp, everything will be decided on H2H question tomorrow

And I'm already down it seems Sad Leeds got a loss away, I don't know why I said Yes when they are are rather struggling in Championship. They look like playoff finishers but are in danger too of losing that spot. You share the rest same as me so this is your 3 points. Well done man. Even if Arsenal drew, it would be draw.

Bottom place, hello old friend Tongue

Finally a gameweek that's going my way. WBA won against Leeds so I already won my direct relegation duel against jeremypwr, darxiaomi will lose, buwaytress can get a point at most so I'll jump ahead of him as well.
That means I'm finally out of the relegation zone, I feel I've been there forever. Considering that 3 players drop down and 1 plays the qualifiers, still a long way to go to safety though.

And I lost the direct bottom fight. It's terrible feeling, but good luck to you Smiley
