641  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Low Liquidity Altcoins on: November 10, 2023, 02:28:33 AM
Sometimes I wonder if people find these coins from some obscure forum threads. From my experience, almost every project has a Telegram group and they list where to trade their tokens there. Have you tried to check out their social media or Telegram group for that? One of the projects that I followed from years ago is also still not listed on any major exchanges, but the team listed several DEXes and small exchanges on their group. Obviously, it will be risky, and it is better to just avoid them and wait until they are listed on some tier-2 exchanges.
642  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Must Read: Scams disguised as premium signal groups/channel on: November 10, 2023, 02:16:51 AM
accurate or not, if it's just sharing signals in my opinion it's not a scam either. Apart from that, it was also stated in this group that no analysis was 100% accurate. Even some of the signals shared may not be profitable.
paying or not, when a signal channel does not force or recommend investment in a particular project that looks suspicious, I don't think such a channel group can be called a scam.
I think giving them leeway is going to make it worse. Sure, nobody forces the members to follow their call, but if they consistently make pump-and-dump signals or even fake calls, then we should at least call them shady instead of a signal group. People will always put disclaimers like that to avoid liability, but I'm pretty sure we can at least argue if they are doing it purely in good faith or not depending on how they make the calls. But yeah, I do agree that people should just ignore them altogether. Finding one that do it in good faith is almost impossible.
643  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Will it affect you in any way if Binance completely shuts down ? on: November 09, 2023, 02:19:42 AM
what if there is a successful hack attempt on Binance and they lose a major portion of their cryptos  Huh
Then that means their security is lacking. I recall some hacks are successful though. Albeit it only affects their hot wallet. I assume a lawsuit might come against them even if they claim they were hacked. I believe the market will eventually recover even if one or two big exchanges collapse.

Personally, other than the decrease of Bitcoin and other crypto, I doubt Binance being bankrupt will affect me in any way. I no longer use them since months/years ago and my local exchange is clearly better for my needs. What worries me is if they are trying to acquire more local exchanges. Hopefully, that doesn't happen.
644  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Child Pays for Parent Failing on: November 09, 2023, 02:09:01 AM
How do I get around this using the Electrum wallet?
Check out some guides related CPFP such as this one[1] if you must do so. You can also check the docs for Electrum to see how to do it[2]. While some images are no longer shown, you can still follow the text explanation. But as mentioned above, if the issue is not solved then you won't be able to do CPFP. Since you mentioned Electrum, do you use it to publish that transaction? Are you sure you don't enable RBF for that?

645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Best wallet for Android? on: November 09, 2023, 01:50:29 AM
What I don't like however is that it is very unstable when connecting to my own node.
Have you reported it to their support or asked on their thread? As long as the connection between your device and your node is okay, there should be no problem. What kind of instability are you facing? It would be weird if a connection to other nodes is better compared to your node unless it is hosted on the cloud (VPS, etc) and not on the same network. 646  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The SEC Struggles to Recruit Crypto Experts, Report Says on: November 09, 2023, 01:42:06 AM
What exactly do these qualified experts do? Giving them suggestions on how to make the laws more strict or help them recover locked crypto assets? As far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be a concise definition of this position. If it is related to their legal case, can't they just hire more lawyers/prosecutors and ask them to learn about crypto?

The article also mentioned competition and inconsistency in how the judge interprets the laws. Makes me wonder who competes with SEC on hiring them.

647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there open source credit money software tools (linked to Bitcoin perhaps)? on: November 09, 2023, 01:29:36 AM
Your understanding is correct. Thanks for an answer. It seems that there does not exist such software, unfortunately.
What is your purpose if I may know? As far as I can tell people already use BTC just fine for transactional purposes. If you want to be the bank in the system, I guess you can refer to centralized altcoin where the developers mint a ton of the tokens. You can also pre-mine I guess, but it would be difficult to make it mainstream if control what you want.
648  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Anyone use Bitpay or Coinbase Debit Card? on: November 08, 2023, 01:40:16 AM
You should check out the Services discussion board. You can also move this topic with the move button on the bottom left of the thread. I've seen a lot of people post new threads related to debit cards, such as this one[1]. Have you asked for their support btw? Maybe they can give you more examples related to tax management.

649  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone been using Pyypl? It seems a potential virtual card can use crypto as wel on: November 08, 2023, 01:12:21 AM
they've been fined 480k for "failing to adhere to anti-money laundering regulations", PYYPL cooperated & agreed to settle & pay the fine to which they received a discount of 20% (the fine was originally set at 600k), probably they're upgrading their system to comply with the regulations
So, from what I understand the government think they don't have a good monitoring system to check if their user is doing money laundering or not. This makes it a bit surprising if the number of KYC requests as mentioned by others is true. In other words, they don't really monitor user's activity but will keep their personal data updated as often as possible. What kind of upgrades are they doing then? Are they saying that it will apply a more strict monitoring process for every transaction?
650  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: blockchain.com EARN commission 7 % on: November 08, 2023, 01:01:26 AM
i wont a stable investment for my money 7 %  APY is good for me as long as the exchange is thrustworthy  ...  banks in my country give 3,5 % on EUR
You should know by now that trustworthy means nothing in terms of crypto interest/saving plan. Things like FTX or Celcius bankruptcy should tell you how risky this market is, especially with such a "high" interest rate. There is a reason why banks usually give a low interest, they don't want to expose themselves to unnecessary risk. CMIIW.

If your goal is to grow your money, I'd just suggest you to DCA and collect sats regularly. It is arguably safer with a modest profitability, you are still in control of your money. Even if you failed to exit at the right time, chance are you'll still make a decent profit as long as you have some patience.
651  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The mom of my friend got scammed 7.3k$ from coinbase usin an app like teamviewer on: November 08, 2023, 12:39:11 AM
Actually a mutual friend of her told her about this guy, that he is a nice person and so on. She belived the guy being friends, and he started to talk with the other guy about coinbase and so on. He asked her to install an app in her phone , so he could help her out with her account, he initially told her that he works for some king of blockchain agency in luxembourg...
Is this mutual friend an online friend or can you meet them? If it is the latter can't you try locating him and ask him about his friend? It is really unfortunate but it sounds like your mom's friend is also on this if he says that the scammer is a nice person and so on. If it is an online friend, I'd suggest educating your mom about better security practices. From the way you describe it, your mom seems to be unaware of the common scam tactics and how to protect ourselves against them.
652  Other / Meta / Re: [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+) on: November 08, 2023, 12:32:25 AM
Here I captured two posts and one post have no line and one post which is circled have a red line, I don't know it is bot related or telegram setting related.
I see this line on just your bot not in other chats.
I also see no line, so the cause seems to be on your end. Have you updated Telegram to the latest version? Are you using the official client or a modded Telegram apk like Telegram X? It sounds weird if it disappears on its own when nothing is changed, sounds like a decoding issue if that's the case. I do change my theme once in a while and it affects how the message is displayed, but judging from your screenshot it looks like the default theme.
653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Best wallet for Android? on: November 07, 2023, 01:23:21 AM
Like you I also think trust wallet is the most secure because this trust wallet supports all platform tokens.
More than 60 million people worldwide are using this trust wallet However, Trust Wallet is a proprietary wallet of Binance. Moreover you can use these android wallets. eToro,
Exodus, Electrum, Mycelium,Coinbase Wallet.
I'm quite confused. Based on your post history you clearly know that a noncustodial wallet is the better choice and custodial or closed source wallet should be avoided if possible. Your recommendation clearly does not align with your post history. Did you just learn them recently or do you not know that some of these are closed source? I'd suggest you to edit your post since it doesn't seem like you're foreign with good security practices.
654  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Fake Leger Live app (extension ). on: November 07, 2023, 01:08:28 AM
This means Microsoft does not manually check and testing any software that they publish on the store.
Some people suggest that the vetting is done by a third party and Microsoft never double check them. There is also the possibility that they hire some freelancers to judge whether an app is malicious or not. I think both are equally possible, in the end, they have some faulty vetting process if a fake app can be listed there. People should never rely on an 'official' store like this if they want to download crypto apps, the experience with Google Play Store should be enough to tell how unreliable they are most of the time.
655  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What do you think about trust wallet? on: November 07, 2023, 12:45:36 AM
I was going to send $20 in bitcoin about 0.00055 but the gas fee by default ask me for 72 sats/byte and that for 24 hours only dropped to 50-57 sats/byte on yesterday's day, about $2.8 for gas fee to day with amount That's it, two hours passed I tried to custom 5 sats/byte but it was slow and had not entered my bitcoin to the exchange.
From my experience, they used to overestimate the fees when you want to publish a transaction. So if they set it to 70 sats/vbyte, most of the time it is the median fee for the next block. I'd not recommend you change them to as low as 5 sats or less without checking the mempool. I also suggest you check your transaction with other wallets since Trust Wallet transactions do use the RBF flag, so you might be able to bump it or do a CPFP, CMIIW.
656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using TV( GOTV, DSTV) monthly subscription money to invest in bitcoin on: November 07, 2023, 12:36:30 AM
Looks like you're from Nigeria since you mentioned GoTV. I'm not sure how expensive NGN6500 is compared to your monthly income, since it is quite cheap for my region (should be around $10 right?). If you can save NGN4000 per month, is it around $3? That's really small and I failed to understand how will that help you with accumulating Bitcoin unless you're small with collecting sats monthly. empy already mentioned above that even if you stop subscribing to your TV, you can only buy less than $100 worth of Bitcoin. I guess if you describe more about your economic environment, we can see how effective or impactful this saving plan is.

At the end of the day though, buying sats regularly is better than doing nothing as long as you don't have to spend too much on fees imo.
657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does a rotation of a DCA HODLing account wallet, guarantee safety from hackers? on: November 07, 2023, 12:11:41 AM
If you are a whale then holding up your coins on a single wallet would really be that creating that kind of doubt or fear but if you are really that pretty sure on where you have -snip-
I can't really tell what you're trying to say here, I'd suggest you use something like Grammarly to check your grammar. If you're suggesting that a whale would be anxious if they only use one wallet, why would you think so? I never heard any whale that said they want to use multiple wallets (unless maybe multi-sig) to store their coins and move them regularly.

Also, there's some possible risks -snip-
Those basically apply to almost any transaction. While it increases significantly if you make transactions regularly, you can reduce it as long as you have good security practices as mentioned above.

659  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Forum Bitcointalk Error LAGI on: November 06, 2023, 03:19:57 AM
660  Local / Mining (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: Mining Bitcoin Tidak Lebih Baik Pendapatannya dari Signature Campaign? on: November 06, 2023, 03:01:13 AM
