simple answer: no
Electricity, difficulty changes, conversion fees, scaling up to account for difficulty changes, price of the coin itself going downward based on BTC price, press refresh repeatedly and you will see it fluxuate with the bitcoin price. Its not so much a business as it is an investment - you must believe the coins will have greater value in the future and that it will make you more to buy the hardware and pay the electricity cost than it does to just buy the coin and hold onto it - if you want you can take whatever you would have spent on the electricity and buy more coins - that way, you've minimized the headaches and the heat output - its very very hot once you start to scale up unless you spend extra money towards cooling - money that could have been spent to just buy more coin in the first place.
That's what I've learned - however I am still also very tempted to just drop a quick grand on yet more stuff. You could do like I've told others - spend only 20 percent of your investment on hardware and the other 80 percent on just holding BTC (turn 10 percent of that btc into ltc and 10 percent of that ltc into other alts you may like)
edit:
mining makes sense when you and only you know of a great new cryptocurrency coming out and you mine it earlier on - however now there are so many outfits out there who will lease you their hardware and you can simply use their services if you do your research and you're willing to lease against market circumstances (cloud-mining on leased rigs has a prevailing market rate usually and will be higher if a big new coin hits the scene) Its still a job at the end of the day if you want to be successful and even then, like everything, chance does play a big factor into your likelihood of success.

After attending Miami at the beginning of this year, it was neat to meet many of the different faces within the BTC space. However, I like doing local meetups much more. It was very financially taxing to go, it was a great experience, but it wasn't that much better than just doing my local meetup group.
Consider the following: 1 meetup group organization cost = $75 dollars. That gives you the abillity to organize a local event with other folks who may be interested in sharing conversations about that topic.
1 trip and conference ticket = $500 at bare minimum. Travel, Hotel, Rental or Cab Fare, Food Expenses, Chicago was reasonable in terms of ticket prices - most everywhere else is trying to rob everyone with tickets at 250+ USD which is retarded for someone who is 'new' and just wants an idea of what its about.

I but for now its going down to 598.4 usd
any reason?.
China ban USD/BTC trading . why? I'm starting to think the chinese Gov't holds BTC to stockpile - the announcing of news makes it perfect for them to scrape in a few lowball offers before price corrections through market demand.

Why nobody is posting an actual entry for the contest? People hate free money now?
FWIW I love free money Also I think getting this post out there is part of the challenge of participation - its one thread amongst many many different websites that consumers use for BTC news - I could simply sit on twitter most days and could get the same quality of fix that I could from reddit or letstalkbitcoin.com

I'll vouch the following prizes too: 10 Magnetic Decals 20 To the moon stickers 10 clear window decals 10 Bitcoin Postage Stamps www.honeybadgerofmoney.com. Its my profession to spread awareness and adoption through attending local meetup events, selling merchandise, reaching out to local businesses that I frequent. (last place was @pho.com which is a great restaurant) Came by in person and followed up about a prior conversation I had a with them a few months ago. I also offer the Skyhook tabletop ATM for sale as well. I'm glad to see these efforts are here and would like to also participate.

Dear all, i ordered 2 blades from zoomhash/sevengnomes on 27 May, received 19 June. it works 4 days than the first blade stopped to work and the day after the second too. The fan doesn't work , no green light on board ( only red light ). I can see the hashpower on hashra dashboard but it doesn't mine any shares. I'm waiting a definitive response from sevengnomes support from 4 days. Spent 1700$ , 4 mining days and no warranty on that products.... very BAD customer service....
Marco
this is a support/tuning thread for the blades not .... a vendor support thread (zoomhash or whatever) .... I'm sorry for my outburst...my fault. I was hoping for anyone with same problems that found a way to resolve it. ty Seriously though - im in the EXACT same boat. I came to the last page hoping to see some sort of hardware support back and forth here...I'll place an update AFTER I have to sift through the posts. UPDATE: Just as I suspected - no support that I could see except for software based support and tuning suggestions. @eraser - I fixed it at least by making a new set of wiring for my units (bought a 10 pack dc barrel plug adapters purchased from amazon and used the pcie 6x to molex connectors I had from some gpu boxes. Now it works again. I would suggest you check your wiring. in other news, I completely broke one of my blades (both sides) by burning out the ab126 (IIRC?) ferrite bead next to the female barrel jack where the plug fits into. would it work to simply throw a lot of conductive glue over the area? (what is this ferrite bead for?)

Dude we have Ashton fucking Kutcher already promoting Bitcoin in twitter, we also have Snoop Dogg on there, it's happening. We just need to hit critical mass and it to be accepted in the main buying places like ebay, so everyone becomes aware of it.
I sometimes wonder if in the future, rapers will rap about balling on Bitcoin and not on the dollar, even tho "dolla" sounds a lot more gangsta than Bitcoin.

taught my wife how to access my wallet and sent me funds - does that count?
Lets see I've heard of the Cryptoqueen (does the neon BTC signs) The Bitcoin Wife - does BTC reviews and blogs
and my personal favorite: Alakanani Itireleng - leader of Bitcoin Botswana - very touching news coverage about her efforts for Bitcoin Botswana about helping local orphanages though bitcoin donations and support efforts.

I want to get around to trying:
Ifly camping as an adult paintball Target Practice with Guns Throwing Knives and Archery Hunting for boars or other wild Game.
Those would be my bucket lists adventures for me for sure - my Significant Other would pepper in a lot of romantic trips and vacations to different destinations.

Where do I fit? I bought a prussa mendel 2 and put it together but never 3d printed any of the stuff above because I don't really need any of it (well, maybe the wrench)[left it on my desk at work for them to benefit from it] ADDED FROM MY COMMENT ON THE BITCOINSTARTER PAGE: I'm really sorry to say this - but what's going on here??? I mean you are asking for 2800 bucks to buy a 3d printer, some filament, to rent a small space somewhere, and to pay you 3 guys....FOR WHAT? I mean, you have a promo article on bitcoinist.net which is a known pay-to-publish website promoting this over a month ago with the exact same lines copied over from that blurb. Maybe I should start my own BitcoinStarter project to request that the community plege 3 BTC to me to acquire and start a Scrypt hashing co-op service where users will be given a portion of hashrate...you guys could probably have a better leg to stand on if you did that. I mean this is total crap - what is your business model? What are you going to do that is different than shapeways or thingiverse? Do you plan to resell those things you show in the pictures or something? do you plan on making more of them to design? Do you plan on making 3d printed cold storage wallets? IDK I'm just saying this is really nuts that you put such a hollow plan out there that everyone is praising.

did someone just nab 20 physical LTC for .425 BTC?

He's put his info out there waayyy tooo many times to count for this to NOT be something else like a personal emergency. I wish someone could verify his health/well being. IIRC he was not a young guy (no offense PG) and he could be in the hospital somewhere. I wish we had some local BTC folks out within the Sandwich IL area to confirm if he's in a hospital or at least okay.

I will look into that, I don't think its offered, but I'm looking.

if I gave out .01 BTC per response, I would only do so knowing that I can yield back at least .02 BTC from my findings - that would require a much large survey, not to mention selling my soul. I don't sell other peoples data - i give it away . Here is the results page: https://www.surveymonkey.com/results/SM-XL2J3NT8/

Is there a 1% fee or any on going fees associated with these ATM's or is it pay n play?
Thanks
It is set based on the operator preferences - It can even be set to give a markdown (discount). Have these been road tested to see if they can detect counterfeit USD? Anyone buy one of these yet and get it running?
As far as I know 151 of these have been sold, I haven't yet had the pleasure to sell one directly. I have seen them in action and will be sure to get a different video up soon. In the meantime, here is one uploaded by Kurs Na Bitcoin!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhsg1k8vWUk

Just got around to finding this, I didn't check it since I wrote that 2nd thing....wow just wow. Okay well first of all, I appreciate removing the sidebar ad. I didn't care about the money you got from your unit, I didn't even care that you got it and reviewed it. I was upset because you went forward and wrote an article about the monarch - a still prototype piece of hardware that was supposed to be available earlier this year (suprise suprise). At the time I read it and was like ' WTF Mate!?!' a belated thanks for coming out and addressing the rabble rabble rabble...btw bfl =/= news. They aren't given the time of day anymore from anyone who has spent more than 20 minutes in the bitcoin mining arena.
