641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What I've learned so far as a gambler on: November 17, 2023, 03:46:28 PM
If you walk into a casino with $200 and you start playing with that $200 and you win $200, get the hell out, you simply just doubled your money, take your goddamn leave, what do you think you wanna do? Win a million dollars? You will go home empty handed.

This is what makes gambling a more interesting and long-lasting business model for centuries.

The important lesson that I learned so far with my little experience as being a gambler, never to walk into a casino with $200 if you are not willing to lose that $200 is the primary thing.

The desperation for the win at the time of loss makes people lose their temper as well and chasing the loss after streaks of loss is the worst thing that a gambler to do.
642  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Share Your Suggestions About Security For Bitcoin Wallet Android Users on: November 17, 2023, 08:02:22 AM

However, the big question is... what kind of malware and spyware has affected BTC wallet users on Android? It's true, I haven't encountered any malware and spyware on Android that threatens my security, but it's essential for me to know what their models are... this way, my vigilance will be more appropriately tuned without compromising my security.

The most common malware that affects crypto wallet users on Android are clipboard hijackers and fake wallet apps but the point is, it is not just limited to it and the potential list can be endless.

Apart from the malware directly targeting crypto wallets, the platform is highly prone to be attacked by spyware, trojans, adware, backdoors, etc which will be a threat to the security of your funds along with any data stored like wallet backup, seed phrases, passwords.
643  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Share Your Suggestions About Security For Bitcoin Wallet Android Users on: November 16, 2023, 05:36:39 PM
From my experience, using open-source wallet apps from verified sources is a good way to stay safe. Stick to well-known and reputable wallet providers to minimize this risk. Also, keeping your Android and everything on it updated helps prevent potential vulnerabilities.

Open source and well-reputed wallet like Electrum is go to options for Android bitcoin users and keeping it updated along with software updates and patches don't mitigate the risk of malware. Android is prone to such attacks because users are likely to install premium versions of applications from pirated sites which we call modded APKs is the biggest and most common mistake an Android user which puts the user's privacy at high risk.
644  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys believe in other people luck and try to copy them? on: November 16, 2023, 03:50:22 PM
I won't do that because as a rational thinker, I knew the probability of hitting that kind of odd is rare and if the luck doesn't favor it won't happen anyway. I will try to stick with my prediction no matter what and the only possible time I will go against the odds is when I am desperate to lose the amount and with a tiny greed of hitting the jackpot.
645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Winning big amount after watching streamer on: November 16, 2023, 01:41:25 PM

Sometimes watching streamer and being motivated to play unknown games to us brings luck out of nowhere. Keep on trying but just don’t over commit. Trying the unknown and winning big time is really fun experience.

Luck and motivation have no connection at all, you did exactly what the intention of that streamer is to which is advertise the game and you spent your money in it that is what every streamer is doing and getting paid for but you won which is secondary because of your luck factor what if you lose on the game? who would you blame the streamer who intimidated to gamble or the casino where you deposited your money?

First of all, this is a child board for the specific wallet : Bitcoin Wallet not just whole Android wallets in general so move to appropriate board if possible.

Bitcoin wallets installed on any device where we connect to the internet aren't safe, so we can't say we can feel completely safe if we take some precautions and all. But wallets on smartphones are good for small storage

So keep only small amounts and will not affect you anyway if you lose it.

Never install apps from third-party sources aka modded APKs which mostly contain spyware that can monitor your keystrokes means it can find your seed phrase and search Bitcoin somewhere the user on the other side can connect the dots.

Make use of the virtual keyboards to type the seed words whether it's creating a wallet or importing a wallet.

647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How discipline are you in managing your bankroll? on: November 15, 2023, 06:02:07 PM
I gamble but I don't consider myself a gambler which means I don't gamble a lot to worry about things but when I gamble I am being responsible while depositing the funds to the casino wallet and with the bet amount but still I can't say that I was in complete control at the wins and loss and that's bound to happen, everyone, if I am not wrong but the thing is I realize that I am beating something that is not supposed to be right and I will leave the game either I was in loss or win at that particular day.
648  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What is the smallest amount of BTC I can transfer to my electrum wallet on: November 15, 2023, 05:01:50 PM
If ViaBTC doesn't allow you to withdraw that amount, it's probably because they have a min. withdrawal amount just like exchanges does.

You are right, Viabtc has a minimum withdrawal limit for coins and for Bitcoin, it is 0.001BTC which explains why OP can't able to withdraw his 0.00052172BTC.

649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What percentage of bitcoin investors are gamblers ? on: November 15, 2023, 01:49:47 PM
What percentage of bitcoin investors are gamblers ?  Where will this figure be if we consider worldwide users ? I think it will be somewhere between 10-20% ? Also, it is possible that most of gamblers are still not bitcoin investors ? I see  less chances of the later happening.

People who hold Bitcoin are Bitcoin investors?

I don't see the point of this comparison because investors are different from gamblers and we won't achieve anything and its impossible to find the figures too that is the practical difficulty in this thing.

What will be the better comparison will be how much gamblers use crypto casinos for gambling!

Then the value will be around 20%.

650  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Lost password for elecrum on: November 15, 2023, 11:29:02 AM
but I still have the original file.
The password I had was either 8 or 9 characters long, and it is lost.
I created this password from a 15-character one which I still have.
What options do I have for recovery?

I only have a long password from which my payment password was derived, and wallet files.

I assume you created a password containing 8 characters from your 15-character list and you have an electrum wallet file too.

So brute-forcing the password is definitely possible and with the wallet file, you just can install Electrum on any PC and try to open the wallet file by trying the possible combinations.

Another thing you can do if you can't decrypt the wallet file is try data recover your SSD which is definitely possible but highly expensive.
651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A tip for staying resposible while gambling. on: November 15, 2023, 09:48:16 AM
.
.
it's hard, being a responsible gambler, it's hard. But it's no more difficult than just a gambling addiction. Because when someone has become a gambling addict, the situation they will face will be even more difficult, apart from losing money and valuable time, destruction and other domino effects will also follow which will make the situation very difficult and complicated.

And if we are fully aware that gambling will only bring us closer to loss in life, then immediately improve your gambling activities to be better and more responsible, before the situation becomes increasingly difficult so that you may not be able to face it.

I would say that we need to take the risk, just to avoid the situation at any cost at all. When gambling is done for entertainment and just to experience that adrenaline it's fine but when it starts going in the south and more concentration on money and worried about loss and all then better not continue at all the gambling activities until you get to the situation that you can afford to lose the money.
652  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: sites with bonuses without deposit on: November 13, 2023, 07:28:38 PM
Hello everyone, do you have sites with no deposit bonuses or no deposit free bets?

Fortune Jack used to give free spins to every registered user in the past irrespective of the deposits but I think the system changed even there as well and practically a casino offers different bonuses to attract the users so the platform can make money so doesn't make sense if a casino that gives bonus amount just for registered users.
653  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler's family action. on: November 13, 2023, 03:36:04 PM
So what he family did was to print a photograph of him and giving it to all the gambling shops within their neighborhood and around the locality, threatening that any of the gambling shops they have pasted the photo of their brother should they find their brother allowed to gamble in the shops they will sue the gamble shop owner to court as one that is abetting their brother's compulsive gambling lifestyle.

Share your thoughts!

First things first, is it not possible to sue the owner for allowing an adult to gamble whether the person is having compulsive behavior or sold the properties of their family to get the money needed for betting.

It is individual responsibility and an extreme family can stop him considering the situation but what can actually happen is if a casino stops a person from gambling when he is legally allowed to play by-laws then the person can sue the casino to milk some money. So all I am hearing is *uck BS stories..!
654  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you securely manage and store your Bitcoin wallets? on: November 12, 2023, 10:42:23 PM
The security of your Bitcoin depends on two things private keys/seeds and the device where the wallet is installed.

Keep your recovery seeds safe:

Recovery seed is like a master key for all the addresses in your wallet so you can use it to restore your addresses in case you lose access to your wallet. The most recommended way to store your seed is to write it on paper and store it in a safe place where no one can access it. Also, forum members came up with multiple ideas to keep the seeds

1. Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers by fillippone.
2. Stainless steel Bitcoin Recovery Seed Plate by willi9974.
3. ColorSEED Or how to simply hide your seed phrase by zasad@.
4. [100 dots] seed phrase backup by LoyceV.

Keep your device safe:

This is a bit tricky and any device that is connected to the internet is prone to be attacked that is why installing a wallet where you will never connect to the internet is the safest choice and it's called an airgapped wallet.

655  Economy / Economics / Re: Foreign reserves on: November 12, 2023, 07:35:41 PM
I mean if the foreign currencies is bought by the citizens of a country and hold in their bank account, and not used to buy from another country.

You understood the concept completely wrong. For example, gold acts as a reserve in every government, and every individual buys gold as an investment/asset it mean the reserves of the country increase? No

The reserve is something that the government holds not including the assets of their citizen and to my knowledge, only USD is considered as a reserve currency, not fiat in general. The important reason is that USD is used for every international trade whether it is between a country in Asia and North America or so on but in recent days things have changed which could change the whole dynamics of the dollar if things become successful I mean if international trades becomes possible without involving USD.
656  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A tip for staying resposible while gambling. on: November 12, 2023, 05:58:24 PM
While gambling some people gamble with small amounts which is not very important for them, but for those who are new to gambling and not able to control themselves or play with something reasonable amount.
So I have a tip for them you can stick a real paper money note in front of your monitor which will remind you that money is hard to earn and play responsibly or don't play with big amounts.
the note will remind every time that how you earned that money, and if you are controlled and this tip is not very important for you them you can ignore it, but i found this helpful.

First of all, you shouldn't be depositing any money to a casino that you are not willing to lose, and if you feel that money is losing beyond your affordability that places your responsible character being broken. So have one point straight that you gamble for fun and if its intended to make some money that is place where you are wrong and if goes south then you have to face the consequences which will affect you financially as well as mentally.
657  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: help with txn on: November 12, 2023, 03:14:20 PM
Do you know how long would it take to get the transaction confirmed?
No one can predict the time because the fee changes are highly drastic so even if you use the actual fee needed for TX to be included in the next block meanwhile fee can skyrocket and you may have to wait more than expected or increase the fee according to the changes.

Parent/sender can use the RBF to increase the fee while the receiver can use CPFP to increase the fee.

I'm trying to add the second txn you sent to viabtc but it's not working. So that means I have to wait for the first parent txn to be confirmed first?

Viabtc fee accelerator has certain criteria to be eligible to be included in the 100 free txns which is

Paste or enter the TXID you want to accelerate. The volume of a single transaction must be ≤0.5 KB, and the transaction fee rate should be ≥ 0.0001 BTC/KB.

If your TX doesn't meet the criteria then you can opt for their paid accelerator : https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator

But it's too expensive and I don't recommend using it unless you can't do RBF or CPFP and really need the TX to be confirmed.
658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Luck and skill, which is more important gambling success? on: November 11, 2023, 06:14:11 PM
I have the believe that success in gambling requires a mixture of luck and skill. This is opposed to some people that believe that gambling is entirely a game of luck and others who believe it is entirely a game of skill.

So I am tempted to inquire if skill is all that is needed to be successful in gambling or luck. Whichever be the option, which of them is the most important factor for gambling success?

Let me put it in a way that can explain this picture well.

Assume you are going to roll unbiased dice and you can only pick one number which can be of any combination now and you rolled a million times to practice to get the result you wanted and reminding that its unbiased die so 1/6 will be the probability of a die no matter how many times you roll so here you can change the fact that the results will be in your favor only if you are lucky and skill doesn't do anything at all.
659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting online courses? on: November 11, 2023, 03:52:34 PM
Courses to improve betting? In what world someone is joining such a program and paying their money?

At least the paid signal group makes sense because there is the possibility to get leaked information about match-fixing and it can be spread out for getting money in the world even though its 99.999% of the time fake at least that makes sense compared to pay for learning how to bet.

660  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Recommendation for multi-crypto software wallets that support BIP-39 passphrase on: November 11, 2023, 08:43:52 AM
Bisq is not user-friendly so I agree with you completely that it shouldn't be considered as a wallet for storing, its decentralized exchange and to be used for the intended purposes.
Sure, but you also wouldn't need to use it for any trading. It's the trading aspect that isn't user-friendly. Creating a new wallet and making backups of your seed is the same as with any other non-custodial software.

It's not as user-friendly as a wallet like Electrum to send/receive funds and anything that we do in the wallet otherwise seed creation/ baking up and all are one-time processes so it's all the same as every other wallet.

Even from as storing perspective, it doesn't look user-friendly or not convenient for reasons like taking time for everything and for the record I really wanted to use BISQ due to its no KYC but it doesn't have any liquidity for the fiat I want to trade so I just have to still stick with KYCed P2Ps.
