681  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Transaction not 100% complete on: November 28, 2023, 08:58:27 PM
The transaction sending 0.0023 (from your hardware wallet to your electrum wallet, as you say) has spent the fund received 2 months ago and has nothing to do with the transaction sending 0.05 BTC.
As I said in my previous post, the 0.05 BTC hasn't been moved from 3BwYFVunGWNScpeskEUHjAv7BesM9AEMEC at all.

Do you own 3BwYFVunGWNScpeskEUHjAv7BesM9AEMEC? If this address belongs to your hardware wallet, the fund is still there.

Are you sure this is the transaction you are talking about?
In the transaction in question 0.05 BTC was sent to 3BwYFVunGWNScpeskEUHjAv7BesM9AEMEC. Does this address belong to your hardware wallet?

In OP, you said that you sent back the fund to your electrum wallet. The fund (which is 0.05 BTC) hasn't been moved from that address and is still there.
683  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Local Transaction on: November 28, 2023, 06:48:39 PM
Yes, I've tried to broadcast, but I get this:

This is exactly the error mentioned by nc50lc and means that the transaction is trying to spend the coins that don't exist in UTXO set.
Now, the only solution is that the sender makes a new transaction.

Take note that unless you completely trust the sender, you should never accept an unconfirmed transaction. There is no guarantee that an unconfirmed transaction will be finally confirmed.
684  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: is electrum safe? on: November 28, 2023, 05:52:27 PM
#1 is that you need to make sure that you don't lose your passphrase because you can lock yourself out of the wallet this way and no customer support would be able to help you.
If you are referring to the series of 12 words electrum gives you when creating a standard wallet, that's called seed phrase.
Passphrase is the combination of words or characters added to the seed phrase for extra security. Passphrase is also called custom extension word or 13th/25th word.
685  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: is electrum safe? on: November 28, 2023, 04:41:34 PM
Someone told me that exchange is not safe because exchange can be hacked by hackers.
That's right. You should avoid any custodial service for holding your bitcoin.
In addition to the possibility of getting hacked, custodial services like exchanges can freeze your fund for any reason. You should use non-custodial wallet, so that you have full control over your fund.

I am using software wallet called 'electrum'. I downloaded it from the official website 'electrum.org'
Electrum is a trust worthy open-source wallet. The code has been reviewed by many people and no vulnerability has been reported.
But take note that any online device is prone to hacking. Even if you use a secure wallet like electrum, it's still possible that your device is infected with a malware and your wallet is hacked.

If you want to be completely secure, you should run electrum on an air-gapped device or go for a good hardware wallet.

If you are going to use electrum, keep multiple copies of your seed phrase in different locations and avoid keeping it on an online device.
Also take note that the seed phrase is all you need to recover your fund and anyone who has access to your seed phrase can steal all your fund.
686  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Local Transaction on: November 28, 2023, 04:36:40 PM
Right click on it and choose "child pays for parent". Then specify a higher fee and click on ok. In the window that pops up click on sign and then click on broadcast.
The transaction OP is talking about is "Local" and the "Child pays for parent" option wouldn't be available in the right-click menu.

Assuming the transaction in question is still valid, first OP should broadcast the transaction or connect to a server that still has it in their mempool. After that, he/she would be able to do CPFP.
If the transaction is no longer valid, there's nothing that can be done except contact the sender and ask him/her to make a new transaction.
687  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Local Transaction on: November 28, 2023, 02:24:59 PM
Local means that the transaction is in your wallet file, but the node you are connected to doesn't have it in its mempool.

I've tried to broadcast it but it just won't confirm.
What happened when you broadcasted the transaction? Did you get any error?
Unless the transaction is invalid now, it should be broadcasted to the network and its status should change to "unconfirmed".
688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why Bitcoin Legacy Address got Replaced with Segwit on: November 28, 2023, 01:42:51 PM
Is that so?
Yes, Charles-Tim is right.

Therefore I estimate that every 10 minutes confirmation can be reduced to 1-2 minutes.
No.
Bitcoin blocks are mined at the rate of 1 per ∼ 10 minutes on average.
If the fee you pay for your transaction is high enough, your transaction can be included in the next block. Whether you use legacy address or segwit address, you can't get confirmation before the next block is mined.
689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed UTXO Consolidations on: November 27, 2023, 10:17:30 PM
Also, when I hover over the unconfirmed parent, it shows a fee rate of 0.00 sats/vB despite me paying the higher fee on the second consolidation.
Are you sure of that?
The minimum fee rate required so that your transaction can be relayed is 1 sat/vbyte and it's not possible to broadcast a transaction with lower fee rate.

You might also want to try using this free accelerator, the viabtc https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/  they will help accelerate your transaction for free so long you use up to 10sat/byte fee
Since OP's transaction includes 4 inputs and its size should be bigger than 500 bytes, it can't be submitted to ViaBTC free accelerator.
690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin transaction time reduce in future? on: November 27, 2023, 09:42:45 PM
For instant transcription to happen in seconds or less than 5 minutes I don’t know if it is possible, but I will await response from other bitcoin experts to shade more light on that.
This has been already answered in previous posts.
Bitcoin blocks are mined at the rate of 1 per ∼ 10 minutes on average and there is no way to know the exact time the next block will be mined.
It's possible that the next block is mined in less than a minute and the miner includes your transaction if you have paid enough fee.
691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin transaction time reduce in future? on: November 27, 2023, 07:38:28 PM
it must wait at least 10 minutes before being confirmed and added to the blockchain.
It's possible that a transaction is confirmed in less than 10 minutes. We don't know when the next block will be mined.

Its actually even less right now since the difficulty is going up, so average transaction time is maybe 9 minutes or so.
What do you mean by "difficulty is going up"?
The difficulty is adjusted every 2016 blocks. It was adjusted 2 days ago and the next adjustment will be around 12 days later.

How true or possible is this my formula, or calculation.?
Your calculations are wrong.
APY means Annual Percentage Yield and that's the interest rate you can get if you hold your fund for one year.
If you lock your FUN tokens for 90 days, the APY would be 15% and that means that you would get around 3.7% interest for the 90 days.
693  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Whirlwind.money | ⚡No Fee⚡ | Ultimate Privacy | Anonymity Mining 12% APR🔥 on: November 27, 2023, 03:33:06 PM
Some more activity on the above address.
I don’t know if I incorrectly stated this morning the address was empty, because now there are several unconfirmed transactions a dx the total address balance is zero.
All those transactions were broadcasted to the network before your previous post and you were right. There was no more activity.
8 transactions were made from their multi-signature address today. 5 of them have been confirmed and 3 of them are still unconfirmed.
694  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Someone just paid 83BTC for transaction fee, on: November 27, 2023, 01:24:31 PM
Someone claimed that the wallet which the transaction in question was made from had been hacked.

https://twitter.com/83_5BTC/status/1727996658758058120

And here is the message signed from the same address posted by the same twitter account.

695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why Bitcoin Legacy Address got Replaced with Segwit on: November 27, 2023, 09:03:34 AM
Legacy Address is still gaining importance in message signing, as there is no agreed upon standard for segwit signatures, so it is better to use Legacy Address if you want to sign a message. bc1 native segwit has become the default option due to saving fees.
This is not true.
You sign message with your private key, not with your address.

Look at the following example.

Private key:
L3Gif2E2Zdgc4kC47jLzpNtWvBLuE8rpSPowmYqZM2mC8Mjs8otT

Legacy address:
1Q4U4dfZJgBRqXrHAnv8FSCqKxzjqRJ4ca

Segwit address:
bc1qlnetknv5vza7vjakc22dkq895cczf4pkpkmcmm

Here is the message I just singed with the above private key:

Code:
This is my message.

And here is the signature.

Code:
IGflPCOgGqHfJ5Fb0q4AdTiFe1OZk8DNHGHitcfl7MtWWX9X/0GeBOec5OwZBl0cqV6/47Kt1scIS32BIzHU8HQ=

You can now use electrum and verify my message with both of above addresses.
If the tool you use doesn't allow signing message with a segwit address or it uses a different algorithm when signing/verifying message, the issue is related to the software.
696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin transaction time reduce in future? on: November 27, 2023, 07:48:36 AM
Currently it takes 1-3 hours for a transaction to complete if we do it with less fee?
What do you mean by complete? Do you mean getting confirmed? Or do you mean getting enough confirmations, so that your transaction is credited on an custodial services like exchanges?

The confirmation time depends on the fee rate (in sat/vbyte) of your transaction and how congested the network is. It's possible that a transaction stays unconfirmed for months.
And take note that even if the fee rate you use for your transaction is high enough, you have to wait until the next block is mined.
697  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Paper wallet restored properly but Armory still stuck in Offline mode on: November 27, 2023, 06:29:30 AM
I don't know what pruned mode is... I'll look for def on the forum though.
In pruned mode, you don't store the full blockchain and you only store the UTXO set and the last x GB of blocks.
To check if you are running a prune node, click on "Setting" at top of the window an then go to "Options". If you are running a prune node, you should uncheck "Prune block storage to" option and redownload the blockchain.

I recently got this email from freebitco (other may get this too) showing my total interest earned and remember i did not lock any of my bitcoins.
To see the total interest you have earned on your bitcoin balance so far, you can also go to "Earn BTC" tab on the website.
Also note that there is no such thing as lock bitcoin on freebitco at all.

By the way, if we gather fun tokens on freebitco, do we also get interest on them as well?
You get interest on your FUN tokens balance, only if you lock them.
699  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin open source wallets that support replace-by-fee (RBF) on: November 26, 2023, 05:56:11 PM
My question now is can someone import their private key or recovery seed of a Bitcoin wallet that has no RBF function into a Bitcoin wallet that supports RBF? Will the function be available coming from another wallet with no issue? I will like to know.
Yes. You can import your private key/seed phrase in a wallet that supports RBF, so that any transaction you make is flagged as RBF.
Just take note that if you have already made a transaction using a wallet that doesn't support RBF, your transaction will be still RBF-disabled, even if you import your private key/seed phrase in a wallet that supports RBF.
700  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why Bitcoin Legacy Address got Replaced with Segwit on: November 26, 2023, 11:30:50 AM
What is transaction malleability problem?
Transaction malleability is a bug which allows anyone to change the (unconfirmed) transaction, so that the transaction hash is changed without invalidating the signature and without invalidating the transaction.
This can't be done if all inputs of the transaction are native segwit.
