Hello All, Two news for me today. 1. Got new version of Sweet Spot http://xmg.makejar.com/download/sweet-spot-0.9.9.zip (includes 2 of the best Magi Miners - could be detected as "Having BitCoin Miners" by your antivirus software) http://xmg.makejar.com/download/sweet-spot-0.9.9-bare.zip (no miners included, you can put your own miners in separate folders where the sweetspot.exe is) http://xmg.makejar.com/download/sweet-spot-0.9.9-source.zip (source) - Added new pool. - Added dashboard button. - Added ability to start multiple processes instead of threads. - Added "Hide On Startup", "Auto Start Miners", "Auto Hide Miners" options. Thanks to Spexx for the ideas. More info and screenshot: http://xmg.makejar.com/If you are curious why there is no setting between 50% and 100% the reason is that pausing and unpausing threads of another app is a CPU hungry process. Additionally pushing the CPU UP and DOWN few times a second is killing the smoothness of work and also the system power usage is almost the same as running at 100%. So let me assume at 80% you get: - almost same power consumption as running at 100% - almost same heat created as running at 100% - less hashrate compared to running at 100% - choppy working windows (compared to running at 100%) Maybe in the future I'll find better way to do it if possible at all. --- 2. Since I got few tips for the Sweet Spot I decided to spread the magic further creating Magi Faucet. http://magi.steep.rocks/There is a threshold, I'll try to send the coins within 24/48 hours since I don't keep them on the server. Don't kill me if I fail or delay a payment ...it is still in a "testing stage" and I'm really busy sometimes ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) Nice updates & great work mate, a donation address on the faucet page http://magi.steep.rocks/ for people to fill up the pot would be nice. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

What proof..??
The idea is to encourage storing coins in local wallet through rewarding. 111magic will be posting more details.

While the team is still busy developing the new PoM (pools and registration mode),Magi will launch another interesting campaign. On request, there will be launched a "Proof of Interest" campaign. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) More information will follow this evening. I can also inform you that delivering new merchants can provide a reward of at least 100 XMG up to 1000 XMG. Depending on the size and type of merchants. Proof of interest! Sounds good ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Tell us more Magical ? ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Right. Magi has some awesome campaigns coming. The new PoM will protect the network and gives the miners the option to collect some more XMG . This will also support the smaller miners. But more about that later. The Proof of Interest is different. The goal for the Proof of Interest is to support the people who hold the XMG in their wallet or use them as payment. It could also give a positive effect on the exchanges and the value of Magi. Because people don't need to sell XMG directly to receive benefit. If they use XMG as payment for merchants it will not effect the amount of interest. Iám working on the rules right now. Anonymous investors donate 25.000 XMG for this campaign. To be continued! Thanks mate, you're awesome. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I'am really a bit sad about the hack on Cryptoine. ![Cry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cry.gif) It's was one of the first Magi exchanges. Also would like to know how long this was going on. We will have to wait about the damage results 2015-03-24 19:45 UTCwithdrawals made by hacker: [...] 99grxHJ2cMAZpbtqbNaTbcpnNjxQ2XoGs8 14996.31229316 magi 46.98.78.245 2015-03-24 05:33:57.490186 [...] It's a bad news, but also I believe the good side is that not that many amount was stolen. And we can take this as a lesson at the first place. DO NOT keep coins in the exchanges that appears you count on them. Always keep coins in a local wallet (for PoS stake as well). For those who lost coins in this incident, please let me know the amount you lost and any evidence to show you did lose these coins because of the Cryptoine hack. I guess we can make up some coins for you.

Guys can I ask a question since I am new to all this. What is the reason that somebody should choose to invest in Magi instead of some other coin? When I say invest I mean both mining and buying coins. Is there a reason I should prefer mining Magi over Monero for example? Am I missing something? Please give me some basic info on how things work ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Thank you! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg10828760#msg10828760Something here, I'd ask again whether that sounds appealing? ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) In my view it's not like choosing A over B, but you can have both A and B. There is no reason for one to love a particular coin; there are many reasons for one to sell off coins and opt out. Do not believe in reasons others tell you but research something that you wish to step into especially speaking of investment. I hope you will love Magi, along with some other coins, say Monero. But one might see, the world doesn't need many coins, so we strive to survive.

Thanks Feldenthorne advice is always good! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) New PoM rules will follow asap. Working also on another great plan. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Keep eyes on the thread guys! Cant wait , mate , now my curiosity takes me over ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) hm, somehow need to work on the pool as well. (bear with me to set things up, I was a bit overwhelmed these days ![Cry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cry.gif) ) By the way, nice video, Erkallys.

Notice some competition is trying to lower the price of Magi. Be aware of that! While Magi is growing more competion will try or even pay to do things like that.
Are you sure it is competitors action? No need of guess or anything like that, at least to me, and I am pretty fine with any level of price, either rank #10 or rank #1000 (I do hope rising up to #10 though); but for people who heavily invested that wasn't a good news.

Mining Magi with Android? Thats cool! Nice work NCommander! Can you share some results later? Now the other thing Magi need is wallet app. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Its been running for a few hours now, steady hashrate of about 5 KH consistently, device isn't even hot at all. I had to comment out the CPU affinity code as those headers aren't on bionic, so it probably is running flat out. Kinda suprised it hasn't melted my phone, running BOINIC would get my pants warm in the wrong way. This is a two year old phone, and I doubt the POW code has been optimized for ARM so honestly, its not bad at all. I did take a serious look at what it would take to port BitcoinJ to Magi, and its ... complicated to say the least since the POW/POS methods would have to be rewritten in Java. I *might* be able to do it, or port one of the wallets to just run around magid, but its a fairly large project. EDIT: and I spoke too soon; the miner segfaulted about half an hour ago. Not suprising. If you could stay with magi for some time (like few months), I could find way to provide supports towards the development (the miner / wallet). I will be getting touch with you for the details if you're interested.

So, I'm looking at cryptocurrencies again, and setup a miner for Magi, and thinking, "hey, this is a CPU coin thats supposed to be fair", I decided to take it to its logicial extreme, and see if I could get the miner to run under android (specifically my Nexus 5).
The answer?
Yup:
..
I'm honestly not sure if this would be superuseful, but I won't mind building this into an actual APK. Figure tons of us have old Android phones that aren't in use anymore ...
Hi friend, this is tremendous, and exactly what I wish to have. Could you post details of setting up the miner?

I just finished a slew of changes to the wallet (mostly updating serialization and net connection methods) while I was trying to get a P2Pool node up and running. They brought the wallet up to a sort of parallel equilibrium with Bitcoin v0.10 and the most recent releases of the PPC, NVC, and CAP wallets, which... didn't make much difference overall, but I think I finally figured out how P2Pool works and how to fix it. For anyone interested, here are the wallet diffs: https://github.com/magi-project/magi/compare/master...feldenthorne:1.2.1.3-beta. I really wouldn't suggest *using* it as your wallet because I've only tested it on Debian and because it's not official, but it's neat to see how much has changed since the wallets have forked and forked again. To our Magi-cal Devs: let me know if you want me change anything or if you want me to submit a pull request. I'd totally understand not wanting to have to sift through and test all that, but cherry-picking might be useful for bug fixes, error-catching, and feature additions. Also, y'all might want to run grep -r "BottleCap" and clean up a few things. I was considering doing the cleaning myself (and will probably work on it in a few days if I don't hear anything about it), but I'm a bit burnt out after work and this fun little side project. Thanks, feldenthorne; let me check it out and see if we consider a pull request.

The more i look at the chart the more its clear to me some one has made a private gpu miner and he dumps... Im thinking selling off my bag, im here since day one. ![Embarrassed](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/embarrassed.gif) hm because of the dumping to 4.4k sat, or anything you can tell based on pool? Well if i had a private miner i wouldn't go on a public pool, like you said "The price is nearly the lowest we got, no good to sell off. ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) " why we see some 7k, 4k, +++ dumps around minimum 1 btc every day. Thats about what a private miner would dump or 1xxx botnet/vpn... I realy think there is, because the way you designed xmg the price would rise not dump. We have very skilled miner dev around and i dont see why, any of those guys wouldn't spend many hours making a private miner and make 1btc a day. Some other facts regarding mining: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/#!extraction, there listed a portion unknown that is likely from our pool "pow.magipool.info". So basically we can figure out the "big miners" and how many coins gained by them, combining mining XMG per day: http://xmg.makejar.com/xmg-per-day. It's unlikely that one mines a day and dumps giving rise to 1btc volume. We do have big mining yields in the past few days, but again looking at the mining status, it appears unlikely there is big hidden force which can gather most of the portions, while this is just my guess. One thing I am sure, we need more miners to secure the network and we may need a few stable pools / P2Pool to avoid the accident pools down. I haven't yet seen the down of our official pool yet: https://pow.magipool.info which is managed by Historical (our team member); I recommend using this pool, as well as XMGpool.cf: http://104.207.149.217/

Forgive my ignorance, but is there a minimum number of posts before one can vote in a poll?
There isn't any option to put a limit for members to vote when I create the poll post, but I guess the forum has the default limitation, likely - Sr. member.

Looks like people like "Σ"; ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) I'd say a symbol like a currency is better, but anyway this is voting.
