Will you still be releasing this later in a pdf book format? I think its all I will be able to afford lol.
Quote from OP: I will offer the eBook version on Amazon and potentially other sites including my own ( www.coinfirm.org). I am currently working on publication. the print version will be available first, and the ePUB file conversion takes a bit longer. I will also be looking into making the PDF available along with ePUB.

Some people didn't know about this thread until it (maybe) was too late.
I only received the email from the site at: Date: 2/24/2016 9:36:08 P.M. Pacific Standard Time
Which means, I was already 36 minutes too late in ordering.
I'm happy to keep accepting names for a few more days until the final PDF is done. I set the deadline so people wouldn't wait till the last possible moment, which always happens

If you recall, I mentioned early on that anyone who makes a pre-order may have their name listed in the book. I am doing this on a request-only basis, as to maintain everyone's privacy. IF you want your name in the book, PM me stating so BY MIDNIGHT EST on WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 24th. I prefer real names if possible.
Thanks!
To clarify; The reason I request real names is to give a professional and academic appearance, as opposed to a book about 'internet nerds'. If you want to stay anonymous, I suggest using a 'real sounding' alias or perhaps taking your username and putting an initial infront of it, if it is one which might be a surname.

I just added a new Sneak Peek! This image is an excellent example of the final format which we have set on. It is balanced, giving the images the most emphasis when there is not an abundance of text. The grey tables do not stand out too much, and nicely fill up extra space. All that this needs is a page number and page header at the top. All entries use this type of grey chart, except for 'multi entries' that are more like the Ravenbit table you saw previously. I have been spending the last few days meticulously formatting everything. Also, there have been a couple coins that just recently came to our attention. They are being added this weekend. It will be VERY up to date. Final edits on the 'About the Authors', Author Introduction' and 'Foreword' were just completed. Shortly, I will be posting the Table of Contents as the ultimate teaser.

elianite,
I'm very excited to see the near-completion of your book! I think all collectors will benefit from having their coins documented, and I also think this book will have its own collectors value as the first of its kind. Good luck with the final printing and keep us posted on the status as you have updates.
Thankyou for the support! I am currently shifting through a mountain of edits for my introduction. After that all the citations will need to be done manually. I also just received some exciting photos; the book will feature photos of TWO versions of the 1,000 BTC gold coins!

casascius did a paper wallet? does anyone have one? would like to see it....and paper safe products are top notch. would love to see a satoshi note in there, although requirements creep would keep delaying the project.
At this point, getting this done is starting to be the biggest priority. There is a photo of a Bitbill and an explanation of paper wallets and their significance. I dont want to keep people waiting; I personally would be getting impatient around this point if I had pre-ordered a long time ago. We are almost done. Its mostly formatting right now.

How many are needed? I would be willing to donate some for sure.
100 (+5-10% for mistakes) I think the ideal hologram here would be one that has a window for the public key, and is perhaps etched or otherwise modified slightly to indicate the book. Heck, numbering them would be way cool as well! The ideal solution would be that whoever is providing the holograms also prepares them with the public/ private key, so all that I need to do is pull them from a sticker sheet and place on the cover. I would like to think that the publicity available here would be worth the effort. Whoever is interested; please PM me!

I agree.
This is simply too good not to be done.
I personally have 0 experience dealing with private keys and adding them to holograms.
Here is an idea: perhaps some manufacturer is willing to donate 100 (+10% for errors) holograms. These could already have the private key added, with the 'completed' sticker stuck to a'sticker paper' from which I can pull it off and place it directly on the book. This would be free advertising for you, as it would bring publicity to your brand.

Does it state anywhere on the cover, or inside page that this is the first edition ..... ?
Good question. I did some reading on the subject: "According to the definition of edition above, a book printed today, by the same publisher, and from the same type as when it was first published, is still the first edition of that book to a bibliographer. However, book collectors generally use the term first edition to mean specifically the first print run of the first edition (aka "first edition, first impression"). Since World War II, books often include a number line (printer's key) that indicates the print run." "Many book collectors place maximum value on the earliest bound copies of a book—promotional advance copies, bound galleys, uncorrected proofs, and advance reading copies sent by publishers to book reviewers and booksellers." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edition_(book) As this is a sort of advance offering, I think that the definition we are working with is that of the 'first run'. It would be problematic for me to write '1st Edition' on the cover for two reasons. First, it would be misleading in that it is one of many books. Second, It may need its own ISBN number, which is easier said than done. I will be printing through the distributor company, which means that any book that I have printed via them would also need to be offered for sale by them. Obviously, I want to limit the '1st Edition' to 100. Assuming things go to plan, the book will be offered for sale through a distributor sometime in the future, though those would obviously not be signed or be the '1st printing'. I think the best approach is for me to print up to 100 copies for myself, which I will then number, sign, and ship. I can use a stamp, and possibly a sticker on the front saying something like 'Special First Edition - Numbered".

Have you thought about producing a companion collector's guide with pricing info for this comprehensive list of coins? Even if you just listed the original price they sold for, it would be a useful reference.
Some of the original prices are mentioned i the book, but not comprehensively. Perhaps this might be something for a later edition or as online content. At this point im polishing up the book and adding some missing parts.

Any new Sneak peek?
Sure thing. This page is an example where two coins are depicted on a page. The changes have made the design very clean and simple. i havve not yet decided what colors should be on the pages, so it is just white with grey tables for now. I did note that the bottom right photo is a little off-format; that will all be fixed. As for naming, I am using mainly the names provided by the manufacturer. Please also ignore the small '27ozt' and 'copper'; looks like they were mixed up in the formatting. That will all be fixed as the pages are checked against my database. Feedback is welcome!
