721  Other / Archival / Re: [banned mixer] - Maximum Anonymity 📌 Fees 1 - 5‰ on: November 01, 2023, 08:56:05 PM
I am not afraid of my personal data leak. I explained my opinion in Russian local some years ago, here is the translation

Thank you for sharing these. However, I can not agree with almost anything from what is stated there. It's simply an ill state of mind of seeing things that way and I will explain why.

That's when I realized it was too late to think about anonymity. By 2002, each of us had left so much information about ourselves in the open that there was no way back to anonymity.

Many think the same about Bitcoin, saying to themselves (for years) that it's too late for them to "jump on Bitcoin train". This is simply not true. Best moment to "enter Bitcoin" is now and this was true since Jan 3rd, 2009. Similar, although you revealed your personal information, you can still do some efforts for gaining back your privacy. GDPR is also very useful. Plus the Right to be Forgotten. You may not be able to delete your personal information from all the websites where you exposed it with naivete, but you can try though.

My unique selling point was that I kept all my information publicly accessible. I was very easy to find if needed, unlike most people on the internet.

That was your unique selling point, which does not mean that it was also the only one. In a web of trust, as it was envisioned by Tim May more than three decades ago, you don't need to expose yourself for being trusted, but to build a reputation inside a web of trust. Such web of trust exists right here, on this forum. If you build a good reputation here and you receive positive feedbacks for successful deals, nobody will question who you are and -- be sure of that -- you will make deals way more / faster / better than anyone else coming back with his ID and saying he wants to make a deal. You can read more about reputation on the free market here.

This meant I wouldn't deceive anyone.

That does not mean, for sure, that someone presenting with his real name can not make frauds. Should I remember, as example, the name Mark Karpelès?

And then suddenly, I started noticing that many people wanted to return to anonymity and privacy.

There was no "returning to privacy", as nobody lost interest in privacy online in the past 5-7 decades (explained below).

To me, this seemed foolish

It is as foolish as locking your door. After all, who would ever rob you, right? Or like using an antivirus.

I remembered that there was no real privacy and anonymity on the internet as early as 2002

Quite the contrary: in years 2000 we were in full-period of crypto wars. NSA, on one side, and Cypherpunks, on the other side. First outlawed free access to cryptography and export of cryptography outside US border, while the lattest did their best for offering people free access to cryptography, private comunications and software which rendered Big Brother obsolete.

However, these wars were nothing new. Look, for example, at the work of Dr. David Chaum and see when those manuscripts were published: "Untraceable Electronic Mail, Return Addresses, and Digital Pseudonyms", "Blind Signatures for Untraceable Payments" or "Security without Identification Card Computers to make Big Brother Obsolete".

The battle for free access to cryptography started in fact during Cold War and since then various tech-savvies fought hard for helping people in not being surveilled anymore, in having a peaceful life while having the benefit of privacy and of private communications. These lasted until NSA capitulated, at the end of 2000 decade, realizing that cryptography can not be stopped anymore. Julian Assange and Edward Snowden also gave huge hands of help on this matter.

So what you are saying -- "I remembered that there was no real privacy and anonymity on the internet as early as 2002" -- it's pure non-sense. People started fighting for their privacy since early years of cryptography, when it was banned in US to regular people.

I finally saw one of the first arguments in favor of anonymity that I could understand and agree with. This argument is about if you have a lot of money, someone might want to take it from you. So, it's better not to disclose unnecessary information about yourself.

This is true also if you are not rich. Once your personal information is exposed, you can't know what lunatic shows up at your door and tries to steal anything you have inside the house.

I also understand why people who have many bitcoins may need coins from the exchanges.

I can understand that only if we talk about anonymous, decentralized exchanges.

Tl; dr: doctors tell you what to do, in order to be healthy, but it's only up to you if you want to live healthy or die at 40 years because of a stroke. Similar, it's safe to lock your door, especially at night. In crypto, it's recommended to not expose your personal information. But it's only up to you if you want to risk your money, your wealth, your house and, eventually, your life as well.

Friends, does anyone know how to complain to Google about phishing?

You can do it here: https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/?hl=en.

Additionally, this topic contains some information about how to realize such reports. It is explained how to make this kind of reports to Firefox / IE / Chrome or to some institution which can take some actions:

US-CERT - mailto: phishing-report@us-cert.gov
Symantec - https://symsubmit.symantec.com/
Microsoft - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/support/report-unsafe-site
Netcraft - https://report.netcraft.com/report
Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) - mailto: reportphishing@apwg.org

I believe that reporting a website to multiple such institutions may help more than reporting only to one of them.
723  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / LN / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: November 01, 2023, 08:18:50 PM
It's a reliable service. When you know there's no KYC it's another bonus reason to test out using small swaps. If ppl like the service they'll become regular users when they need swaps.

eXch simply adds normality in crypto space and help people use Bitcoin the way it was meant by Satoshi: in privacy and anonymously. We need more such services, in order for people to become aware of their existence and, slowly, leave behind centralized exchanges.

There is no need to give away your personal information while using crypto, since (1) it was not meant for that and (2) you can do what you need in full anonymity.

However, the fact that OP became more active on the forum, the fact that this exchange operates for many years already, the good reviews received from forum users -- all these will help eXch earn more popularity, earn more users and these users will also spread the word to others and so on. Things are moving and, after many years, they are moving on a good path. There is still hope that more and more users will start preserving their privacy and will take full control over their money.
724  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help me translate my best posts in your Local Board on: November 01, 2023, 08:08:14 PM
Two new translations have been added to OP:

First topic was translated by iwantmyhomepaidwithbtc2, although it was previously reserved by Becassine, as she agreed to allow him to do the translation.

With this occasion I am also very happy to announce that all topics from OP are now translated in French. French is sixth language having all my topics translated, after Filipino, Polish, Pidgin, Bengali and Romanian. This is really amazing! Thank you iwantmyhomepaidwithbtc2 for all your dedication!

I also want to thank to  FP91G, which translated already a half of my topics in Russian language! Impressive!

Now I wonder if mr r has had something anger him and it is why he is doing it.

Have you read those 2 threads, which expose Ratimov's Trust abuses done for years in a row and his shenanigans done to cover his abuses and his plagiarism? This is the reason why.
Should Ratimov be in DT1?
Ratimov is deleting self-moderated topics. He now goes onto my Ignore list.

mr r

Oh, he is no "Mr"! You can see here his attempts to act like a gentleman.

At first I thought you are joking when you asked about what happens. Later I realized you actually don't know. Please read the linked materials thoroughlly and you'll understand.
729  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ratimov is deleting self-moderated topics. He now goes onto my Ignore list. on: October 31, 2023, 07:58:17 PM
I thought to leave this here too, for more visibility:

Other than that, it seems that Ratimov did not stop purging evidence of his plagiarism after the apparition of LV's topic and he also did not shy away anymore, as he usually did in the past when DT eyes were on him. This time his only reason to stop was a warning that he'll be banned.

He received a warning from me. I wrote to him about his behavior and that in case he continues such actions, he will get a ban. I did not receive a reply, but his trash topics did no longer appear after my warning. I hope for his discretion.

Ironic, the warning came from a mod which has no power to ban him, yet since the issue was escalated to theymos the warning was very serious and he understood that now he is not only fooling forum users around, as he did for 5 years in a row and this time he is actually risking to be banned. That being said I am very curious about what other frauds and ways to fool regular users & mods he will find. What's certain is that he is very ingenious at that.
730  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov be in DT1? on: October 31, 2023, 07:55:35 PM
I'll field this one, since it was actually one of my minions, technically speaking. At least, I think it was.

I could never dispute with Foxpup the custody over LV's "minionship" since, after all, I am also her "minion". At least, I think I am

There are so many minions on this forum it's hard to keep track of them all. Undecided

Yes, so sad...

Only 5 replies? So cute, can you do more next time please?

I can try. Meanwhile, can you try reading this topic? [TIPS] to avoid pyramid quotes (for Newbies). It was addressed to Newbies but I think you also fall in this category, since you quote a full post in order to say a few words.

I don't care what Ratimov or anyone else done in their past.

If you don't care then what are you doing inside this topic?

as I said.. I don't care

Then once again: why are you posting here?

but saying that he should create an account in your name just to annoy you

Can you please pinpoint me where I ever said that he should create such account?

how old are you? for real? 11?

6. I barely learned to write.

Ayway! Enjoy your drama with your cool club! I see you guys are quite busy here so I won't take up more of your precious time.

Gee, thanks!
732  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov be in DT1? on: October 31, 2023, 12:03:17 PM
Since nobody had the courage to answer me last time

Probably you are very mighty -- disregard that. I meant this: probably you were off-topic.

and only had the courage to report my post so I ask again.

No idea what your question was. But this usually happens when you are off-topic.

How can you get a notification when a new user create an account on this forum?

One of my "minions" drew my attention about that account.

and why you don't tag the account yourself, why was your minions friends needed to do it?

Because my "minions" already did the job.

I have no idea about the past [...] this is some hardcore sick stuff.

Your statement was already self-explanatory.

But let me try explain you even better: you have no idea what Ratimov did here in the past (nor about what he kept doing up to present day); you did not even care to read OP (which has plenty of links depicting his shenanigans from the past); then you go off-topic again. Perhaps now you understand why your previous post was deleted.
733  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed on: October 31, 2023, 11:06:58 AM
[...]

Forum's most infamous plagiarist presence in this topic is simply hilarious. Not to mention the absolute lack of common sense to act like a wolf disguised in a sheep.
734  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov be in DT1? on: October 31, 2023, 10:38:18 AM
You are currently DT2 and adding ~Ratimov will not change much in his DT1 status. Given that your trust list is empty, you cannot be DT1 [...]
However, many have added you to their trust list, you are among the first few on the forum in terms of strength, so I believe that whatever you decide will have an impact, perhaps at least on someone else's decisions.

Uh-huh... I did not see that The Pharmacist emptied his Trust list. In any case, what you stated is very true: such a move made by The Pharmacist would certainly influence many others, giving them courage to do the same.

I've distrusted him as well. I don't know how much of an impact it will have but it just seemed the right thing to do.

Thank you for involving in this, PokerPlayer!

Did you ask theymos to be excluded from DT1? If so, your exclusions only matter for the users who have you on their Trust list (and the users who included them). If not, all you have to do is "reactive" your Trust list. If "the good people" don't want to be part of DT1, the Trust system fails.

I hope this vouch can convince suchmoon too Smiley
735  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov be in DT1? on: October 31, 2023, 09:27:42 AM
I did about 12 minutes of reading through some of the links here and I'm of the opinion that he shouldn't be on DT.

Lol! That shows wisdom!

In the old days, there's no fucking way he'd be on DT2 much less DT1.

In the old days Ratimov would have been ridiculed to the Moon by Lauda or TMAN for his plagiarism and, for sure, he would not manage to get away with all his shenanigans which, eventually, pushed him into DT and in a position from which he abuses this forum and the users for years and now (almost) everybody seems afraid of him.

if I added ~Ratimov would that do any good or is he just lumped in with my DT exclusion?  If it's the latter, end of discussion.  If not, I'll exclude him specifically ASAP with happy Halloween wishes and some advice to not let the door hit him on the way out.

Before the existence of this topic and LV's topic, he had a stunning +13 DT strength. After people started reading these topics thoroughly and understood how they were all fooled by this thief, some found courage and started deleting him from their Trust lists or distrusting him directly. As of now, his DT strength lowered from +13 to +4 so there is still needed to have some more DT users to exclude him, in order to eliminate him from DT.

Therefore, your exclusion would certainly help in resolving the problems created by this imposter for years in a row.

So, yes, if you distrust him this would help a lot in resolving this situation.
736  Other / Meta / Re: Investigation and action required. Unusual forum moderation. on: October 31, 2023, 08:33:58 AM
Thank you for coming to this thread, theymos.

If I am allowed, I would also add a few questions, as it follows:

1. Isn't this statement contradicting itself?

I see no evidence of misconduct, though it was incorrect to delete topics with substantial replies.

How could it be no misconduct, since it was incorrect to delete those topics? What is a misconduct then, if not taking incorrect decisions?

2. Since Ratimov was turning his old topics into garbage on purpose, then he moved his trash in the Russian local board, thus breaking forum rule no. 1 multiple times in a row, being very aware of what he is doing, why was he not banned for that? This question was addressed also by LV, but no answer has been provided so far:

Isn't that what bans are for? To stop people from posting garbage?

3. Since even Xal0lex started thinking that what Ratimov does is fishy, why did not he asked other mods for a ban, since he is unable to issue bans? Again, this question was also asked by LV and it was never been answered:

But you have a Mod board, in which you could report him to Mods with banning power. It's more than just deleting his own posts, it's moving garbage into your board. And that's a clear violation of the forum rules:
1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads.
He could easily have avoided all this by moving the topic to Archival, but he choose to throw his garbage topics on the board you moderate. This sets a precedent for using the board you moderate as a trashcan and by reporting his own posts there turns you into his personal trashman.

4. Why none of xandry and Xal0lex answered to questions, 3. and 4., although they were asked repeatedly?

All of the deleted topics with replies have been restored to Archival.

Thank you for restoring them.

~ probably used the "Show the last topics started by this person" function.
Even easier: Search topics. You can quickly find the very short topic titles, nicely kept in Archival.

Small question here (addressed to xandry):

I would not like to put the second moderator in a difficult position, but I was honestly surprised by the answer of Xal0lex:
I haven't personally counted how many topics I've deleted. Maybe 10, maybe more. And plus at the moment there are a few more of Ratimov's garbage topics in the section, which will also be deleted in time. You can go to the section yourself and see how many of these topics there are at the moment. You can also go to modlog and do the math yourself.
Once again: I found out about garbage topics only after I was mentioned and I started checking Radimov's message history. How could anyone have found out about this before? That there are many similar garbage topics in the Russian forum? After all, they are old and do not appear in the top of the Russian root. I didn't understand that.

If Halab and LV believe it was easy to find those topics, then why xandry thinks it was very difficult? It doesn't add up.

Furthermore: how can xandry (which is just a mod, so not an admin) could check Ratimov's messages history?

I found out about garbage topics only after I was mentioned and I started checking Radimov's message history

I believed this was something only admins can do.

Heads-up: Ratimov stopped deleting old posts with evidences of plagiarism. Probably he thinks he deleted all evidences.

At same time, he or one of his minions created an account named GazetaBitcoinSV, probably for making themselves even more ridiculous. The account was created yesterday and it was already tagged.

For the record: I didn't blame you for deleting those shitposts Smiley
Yeah, I'm sorry. That wasn't meant for you.

No, I did that. I understand that you, as mods, are supposed to keep the local board clean but this was a special case. I believe that in this case rushing to delete Ratimov's shitposts was a mistake, because people could see what he did. All those not knowing of ninjastic.space could see it. You could keep those posts for a while, at least. Which remembers me that you never answered to this post:

But you have a Mod board, in which you could report him to Mods with banning power. It's more than just deleting his own posts, it's moving garbage into your board. And that's a clear violation of the forum rules:
1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads.

Why haven't you presented to other mods what he was doing? Thus maybe another mod would ban him for breaking (again and again) forum rules? You still did not explain that. And the fact that you shower each other in merits only makes you more suspicious. Maybe not in everybody's eyes but, certainly, some see this very suspicious (including me).

I wondered in the previous comment to this thread if Ratimov was going to come here to explain himself but it doesn't look like it at this point.

Well, what could he say? "I am sorry for abusing Trust system and all these users for so many years"...? "I am sorry for plagiarizing and stealing the work of all those authors and I am also sorry for misleading all the forum"...?

Not the behaviour one would expect from someone who is 100 most trusted, 4 most merited etc according to bpip.org.

Fourth most merited user? What a joke! What a joke! It's easy to become popular when you steal, right? Just as he did, for years in a row!
If you don't feel his behavior is adequate for a DT1 user, feel free to add him to your distrust list, as others did as well.

Now I am sure that he had no intention of fixing things because of his mistake. If he ever said that he wanted to fix things, he only did it for his benefit. At some point, he offered a "truce", apologized to the community and GazetaBitcoin for the offensive words, and withdrew his feedback given to Gazeta. [...]

If you want to sincerely apologize or forgive someone, it must be unconditional.

I saw revenge feedback on BitcoinGirl.Club added later  Embarrassed That's not how things get fixed.

If you feel that he is not using Trust system correctly, feel free to distrust him as well.

About mods helping him to delete these things, I guess he is tricking mods to do their job. He is deleting everything first and then making it like a spam post that is needed to delete.

This is crystal clear now.
