721  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESports betting -CS:GO, DOTA 2, LOL, Valorant - Sportsbet.io discussion thread on: September 15, 2023, 04:03:28 AM
It's like an ending era but this is also a sign for a new beginning. After the TI12, for sure that they're going to release the new format on how to get invited for the TI.

If anyone finds those snippets not enough, just click on the link where I've quoted it from their official blog website.

I wonder how they will determine the participants of the next TI.
It's still a mystery and who knows if there will be some leaks that will be given during this TI. Since we get that every time the TI is done but we need to wait a little bit longer for us to have the idea how the next season will be.

Are they going back to the old way or there will be a new system in place? That will be exciting.
Maybe, I like that more because there will be more participants during the TI. And remember the wild card? Yeah, that's more action and Dota that we're going to see.

Well, Valve knows what's best for them as they're the ones who manage this global event and qualifiers.

For the Dota 2 bettors and fans there, the bomb has been dropped by Valve already and this is about the ending of the DPC points for this season. This is going to be the last TI prior to the DPC points requirement system.

Here are the snippets about the important details about their latest blog release about it:

[...]

When it came to that one limited goal, we succeeded. The DPC demystified the invitation criteria, and made it easier for pros to understand their path to The International. Unfortunately, the DPC brought with it a set of rules and regulations, and those have come with a cost that’s become clearer to us over time: The world of competitive Dota has grown less exciting, less varied, and ultimately much less fun.

By existing as the only official league, the DPC has a stranglehold on the event calendar for the year and what it's filled with. Event organizers are innovating less, because that's effectively what we've been asking them to do: Instead of competing for viewers and players by producing compelling and inventive tournaments, organizers now compete for compliance with Valve’s long list of rigid requirements (team count, broadcast languages, event format, and more).

[...]

It would be too simplistic to say that the slow drift of the Dota competitive scene away from this focus on fun and creativity towards the sterile, near-monoculture of today is entirely the fault of the DPC, but the DPC has generated significant pressure and incentives that led us here. The Dota community has decades of grassroots experience coming up with innovative and entertaining events, and right now the DPC is getting in the way.

With that in mind, we're ending the Dota Pro Circuit: 2023 will be the final DPC season.

Competitive Dota predates the DPC by many years and will continue long after. The International will continue as well — we're already working on The International 2024, and next year we'll be talking more about how invitations to that event will work. But for now, we're going to return our focus to this year's event — which, unbelievably, is only four short weeks away.

It's like an ending era but this is also a sign for a new beginning. After the TI12, for sure that they're going to release the new format on how to get invited for the TI.

If anyone finds those snippets not enough, just click on the link where I've quoted it from their official blog website.
723  Economy / Gambling / Re: Project feedback on: September 14, 2023, 06:14:29 PM
If both of you have the means to produce that money needed for the newsletter and contest then that's fine. People always like to participate with these contests as long as they're for free and whatever is the criteria you'll have, it should be transparent and based on your factors.

With that as a marketing, you've already taken the side of the potential subscribers and for sure that there will be gamblers willing to subscribe now. How long is this contest of your newsletter is going to run and mention the criterias or factors on how you're going to choose winners.
724  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: percentage of your income you dollar cost average in bitcoin on: September 14, 2023, 12:27:09 PM
About 10% of my monthly income goes to Bitcoin. Why 10%? I dont go wild or hurt my daily budget with this slice. Always invest moderately, especially with Bitcoin, which is uncertain. I set a preset amount to avoid touching my disaster fund or other savings. For my criterion, I follow geopolitical events, scientific developments, and Bitcoin news that may indicate market movement. I keep to my 10% rule regardless of short-term changes.
Honestly, 10% is already a decent portion of someone's income and if you're able to do that consistently it's also you that will benefit from it.

If this is the amount that you don't have to think of and not problematic with your other expenses because you can afford, this is a good allocation for your investment in Bitcoin.

This plan must meet my financial goals. I should never prioritize bitcoin investments over financial responsibilities. Remember that Bitcoin is only one part of the financial game.
That is for sure that you'll meet your financial goals. Whether you're hard core or all in person invested in Bitcoin or not, as long as you know your thing and doing it consistently.

The fruit will be certain in the coming year/s.
725  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The power of influencials and brand ambassadors, don't fall for it. on: September 14, 2023, 10:06:31 AM
Well, you have spoken the truth about majority of these influencers and ambassadors. They know the name of the brand where they've made a deal but they don't know wholly what they are.

The problem on these influencers is they don't really do research before accepting a deal whether it is an x deal or a brand deal with a contract. I've seen a bunch of them that never talked any sense of what they have promoted.

What matters to them is that they've been paid and that's all enough for them.
726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank vs Crypto: Are they opposites? on: September 13, 2023, 07:37:25 PM
It was a concern that many have thought that crypto will certainly be able to defeat the banks. But we're getting the picture blurry these days as these banks are also adopting to changes.

They're just doing the innovation through digital payments and currencies that they govern.
Bitcoin and cryptocurrency won't defeat or kill central banks, commercial banks and fiat currencies or CBDCs. Bitcoin can outperform fiat currencies, CBDCs in purchasing power over time but by beating, killing I meant Bitcoin will get rid of fiat currencies and CBDCs. It simply won't happen in future and it is kind of over fear.

If a Bitcoin maximalist, investor hope it will happen, it is unrealistic hope. If globally, there are governments, it will not happen.
Yeah, that won't happen. Before, many have believed that and even I but as time passes, we're getting the idea that it's exaggerated.

It was a concern that many have thought that crypto will certainly be able to defeat the banks. But we're getting the picture blurry these days as these banks are also adopting to changes.

Well, Satoshi's idea was to create

Quote
<...> an electronic payment system based on cryptographic proof instead of trust, allowing any two willing parties to transact directly with each other without the need for a trusted third party

This eliminates the idea of central banks, and all other banks, as they are third parties. Another thing is that with the development of the bitcoin industry, mainly centralised exchanges, which is where most retail investors buy their bitcoins, this idea seems like a nice utopia today, but we cannot see it as feasible.

So, to answer the question of the thread, yes and no. Bitcoin was conceived as the opposite, but this is not necessarily the case, as is unfortunately the case.
Yup, that's it.

We may want to have the idea to be firm and get into the world someday. But it just can't and the matter of fact is that it's good as it is another entity where people can use both of it but it can surely outperform those.

Games are live now for the BetBoom Dacha, I've missed the first match of Team Secret and beastcoast but it ended well for Team Secret owning beastcoast with a 2-0 win.

We're now on the first game of TSM and Gaimin Gladiators. So, the crowd is obviously eyeing for the GG as they're known for dominating this year but not with the past tournament of Riyadh Masters.

I pity Quinn in the pubs, he gets reported despite even not saying a thing or two.  Cheesy
728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Exploring the Future of Finance with Wrapped Assets in DeFi on: September 13, 2023, 05:11:48 PM
What if wrapped assets can be unwrapped then that means that its potential to depegged from its main coin where it is getting is value is possible, right?

Apart from that, if it's with the DeFi's, there have been a lot of issues that have seen there like hacking, a platform that has a high risk of being vulnerable to attacks and so on.

They're good as what it can be right now but if you dig deeper with its use and risk, you'll get to see the bigger picture behind.
729  Economy / Gambling / Re: NAKAMOTO ROULETTE - open and live! on: September 12, 2023, 07:50:12 PM
IS this site down again?
Yeah, it seems so.

I can't access them and it just keeps on loading. I guess if this has been reported to them before that they've got some downtimes, they have to drill down where the problem is and it could be their server loading too slow.

But if no actions will be made, customers of theirs will find another one that has low rate to no cases of downtime.
730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be rich sheeple or free people, what's your choice? on: September 12, 2023, 06:47:12 PM
The problem with the choice of mining being centralized is that it doesn't portray anymore bitcoin as a wholly decentralized cryptocurrency.

We do want to have a support from the government but if it's going to take even mining to become centralized, how is that going to go? Like everyone has to register every time we get some transactions?

I don't think that many are going to stay with that type of setup.
Agreed, as much as we love our government being involved in our crypto business, the is a line that they can not cross as this interferes with the decentralized ecosystem of bitcoin.
We know that there's the good and bad side effects of it in the entire ecosystem of Bitcoin when the government is there. The adoption could be wider and faster but the features of it might not be ideal at all.

For me, I will choose money because privacy cannot feed my family, cannot help my children have delicious meals on the table and the best learning environment.
It's all about your priority and there is no doubt that one will choose to feed his family over decentralization and privacy as these won't matter when you've got no food in the table.

And even how fanatic you are with these things when your stomach growls, you'll only think of what's important.
731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank vs Crypto: Are they opposites? on: September 12, 2023, 01:32:19 PM
Conflict:

Banks are concerned that crypto could reduce the use of fiat currency and reduce their revenue from services such as credit cards and loans.
It was a concern that many have thought that crypto will certainly be able to defeat the banks. But we're getting the picture blurry these days as these banks are also adopting to changes.

They're just doing the innovation through digital payments and currencies that they govern.

Banks are concerned that crypto could be used for illegal activities such as money laundering and terrorist financing.
But they don't talk about plain cash being used by those activities.  Roll Eyes
732  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rant: Casinos should hire people who knows about what they do on: September 11, 2023, 09:47:33 PM
Include that to your reviews to them so that they will be aware of what they've got in their customer support. AFAIK, whether they hire through an agency or another party.

Before they deploy it on the production and actual operation, there's always the product review and seminar or something sort like that.

Prioritize staff training and expertise for better customer service.
Yes, this is what they have to do when they get a low ratings from their CS.

734  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin mining is winning on: September 11, 2023, 12:59:27 PM
Some people who don't like Bitcoin have been criticizing it. They say Bitcoin mining uses too much energy and harms the environment. But often, these critics are supported by other digital currency teams that want to beat Bitcoin.

Now Imagine a game where people are trying to win by looking good and saying they care about the environment. They're playing this game in politics. Recently, in New York State, they passed a rule to stop Bitcoin mining. They say it's because they want to stop using dirty fuels for energy (Avoid Pollution). Bitcoin miners and data centers don't actually create pollution. They're not the ones causing the problem. Instead of dealing with the real issue, some politicians are just trying to score points by targeting Bitcoin.

When politicians say one thing but the facts say another, it makes you wonder why they're not on the same page. But regarless Bitcoin mining is winning. Some politicians who don't get it might complain, but entrepreneurs, investors, and operators will keep making progress.
There will always be people that are against and subject to what Bitcoin is and where it comes from and how it's generated and that's through mining. Even if you tell them that there are mining farms that uses renewable energies to mine Bitcoin, they won't believe and will even further to argue.

This is a fine thing on this community. We're here to like it no matter what happens and whatever these politicians, entrepreneurs, celebrities and even world leaders tell about Bitcoin.

While they probably have a thing or two that understand some sides of Bitcoin, if they hated it, they'll hate it no matter what.
735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Reddit coins? on: September 11, 2023, 10:10:17 AM
With social media such as Reddit and Twitter gradually introducing their userbase to crypto the next hype trend could be SocialFi coins, do you suggest investing on those coins or too risky?
Well, it's like investing in their stocks if it's already official and they're working on its development. I'd still stick to Bitcoin if it's about investing on them if I don't have much spare money. But if you're someone who's got a lot of spare money, do so.

IIRC, there have been a lot of these projects that were introduced during the ICO days but not all of them became popular. I guess if it's reddit and twitter, they're different because they're part of the most popular social platforms. And what if Facebook does that? They've already failed with the Libra project they've started.
736  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cockfighting? on: September 10, 2023, 11:58:28 PM
To my knowledge there is no such crypto casino where cockfighting is legal and people play in one.
Yes, there's none since I don't see one that has this type of betting and if there's one, prolly missed it.

I've heard before that cockfighting has been banned from casinos mainly because it's illegal.
Not just illegal but also unethical but those that has it, it's just all about the culture and history that has been passed onto them.

Most of the countries of the world have banned this cockfighting from the judiciary. Now I can't say whether this cockfighting is practiced in any casino but it is probably not very small. But banning the cockfighting game from casinos entirely is because it can be risky if people try to create and play it. So I think one should not take such a risk where there are many casino platforms that have a lot of games and it would be better to bet on them. Now it is better not to play this type of cock fighting game and who may not know if there are any casinos where cock fighting bets are placed as far as I know.
To those places that have practiced this, mostly they're not an actual casino. They're just like a one-day setup betting local place and then after the event, they're all gone after all.
737  Economy / Economics / Re: Teaching My Nephews About Wealth Through the Game of Monopoly on: September 10, 2023, 10:59:56 PM
My cousin and I used to play that but I don't know how to play it, I think it's a good option to teach your nephews about its economy and building wealth.

Things are simpler and easier to understand when it's been taught through games like this. They will have the understanding that this is the type of the market and economy that we're having.

They will just have to enjoy the flow of the game and it's up to them to realize that the game itself has got its purpose.
738  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How does an online Foodbetting site sound? on: September 09, 2023, 10:08:37 PM
What other funny and real betting exist like this you know of?
Not funny but odd things like betting about slap competition.

Would you try it out if you had the chance and resources to?
I probably would as I do watch people that likes to it but it might be a different setup if it's about food eating competition.

What are your thoughts on the concept and initiative behind this idea.? Is it worth investing time and resources in?
Maybe for entertainment, yes. But if you do not enjoy watching this and you're just new to it, you can check yourself if you're into it.

Can we classify this betting on food eaters on who eats more or less within a time frame, as a sport?
It's subjective to each who sees it. But most of the competitions that are on this eating challenges are more with who's quick to eat within a give period of time.
739  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unfortunately, this problem is increasing yearly on: September 09, 2023, 01:19:12 PM
I guess aside from being aware of the sim attacks, the platforms should also enforce that they should force their users to use other way of 2FA aside from SMS.

Since the proliferation of this attack, an alternative is much better and that's through email and as well as the usage of the 2FA apps.

Just last night, someone called me out of nowhere and has got my number offering me a job but it was an obvious scam job. So, in theory, that these hackers can be everywhere and have the source of our numbers so it's easy for them to penetrate and attack random people and if they're lucky enough, if the sim card that they're able to copy was used for transactions in banking and crypto, that's where the danger is.
740  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Give Him a loan Or Partner With Him on: September 08, 2023, 04:22:06 PM
This scene is like always the breaker of relationships especially with friendships and relatives. What you can do if you really want to help him, it's either don't give any amount at all or just give him some relatively amount which isn't that much and not a total loss for you if ever he won't pay.

In that sense, you're able to help him and you have also satisfied yourself of helping him. That's the choice that you can do but if you're okay lending him money knowing all of his backgrounds, that's your problem later on when he's got no money to pay you.
