'heres some numbers. heres the formulae. no explanation why the 2 is needed. just tell me answers'. so i never needed to bother to remember the formulae or why it works, as the formulae was just there on paper right infront of me. so no need to think about it.

Yes, I agree. Teaching dry formulae and not how they apply to real-world situations is a problem, and is very similar to the point I was making about schools being basically exam-passing factories rather than focused on real learning and understanding. The question I suppose is how they could move away from the current system. I can't see them ever wanting to get rid of league tables, but maybe the schools could be measured in some other way.

basing kids whole school grading on just a bunch of final year graduation exams, which are based solely on how much them kids got to re-read upto 11 years of teachings in the 2 months leading upto the exams is a false grading system that means nothing in later life..

however, grading their final graduation results on the homework/course work done each week thoughout school when its not just based on if they got the answers right but also if they atleast showed understanding of the principles of how they could work out the answer. would atleast show how well someone can learn, interpret, and solve.

this would change how teachers teach.

heck things could even change in regards to, instead of just A-E grade which just how well they answer stuff. ALSO have it categorised
1-5 of leadership skills.
1-5 of confidence
1-5 of practical
1-5 of literature(reading)
1-5 of literature(speaking)
1-5 of problem solving/thinking out of the box

this gauging to a kids 'skill' can help teachers also find new ways to teach which meet the general type of students in class. eg if most are visual/practical learners but not very literate. then do visual learning... while also concentrating to 'up' their literature levels in other ways in other lessons

some schools do this merit system of lifeskills in the form of certificates (like employee of the month things) where they are given certificates for showing leadership or confidence

however what is possible is a pool or even random user transacting can put one of their output UTXO's as not a spendable bitcoin key but instead a random phrase.

Another thing that is possible is a pool or solo miner to put a phrase in the input (extraNonce) of the generation transaction (As Satoshi did in the Genesis Block).  Perhaps this is what the OP saw? If so, it's pretty meaningless. Those messages have no effect on the operation of Bitcoin.

there is no "extranonce" in a coinbase input.. what you mean is probably what you quoted me saying. where the output is not a valid address/signature but a space re utilised to form a message

as you can see in a coinbase transaction it needs no 'signature' because it is a reward generated coin. and so you can put anything into the signature area.. this is not a "extra nonce" this is just a script/signature area.
some people also put in extra outputs, with 0 balance given to it because they want to use the address area(public key) as a message space

"extranonce" is usually deemed the utility of changing the time stamp by upto ~70 minutes(4200 permutations(12bits of timestamps 4bytes))

those diagnosing satoshi's mining habits of 2009 to work out which blocks seemed to follow satoshis mining pattern used the time stamps 12 bits as a term for "extra nonce." and thats what it has been associated as ever since.

becasue thats what satoshi first done in 2009-2010 as his extra nonce

Wishful thinking. Remember when HitBTC froze their customer's accounts and suspended all withdrawals a couple of days before this day back in 2019?
HitBTC is one of the biggest fraudulent companies out there that has been scamming its customers for years and will likely continue its shady activities until  regulators, police, FBI, or whoever else, come, shut them down, and send the team behind this exchange to jail
..
4) They don't require KYC but use it as an excuse to freeze accounts.

a regulated exchange will not freeze an account and refuse withdrawals on a whim. they cant. its illegal.

if they suspect something they have to allow, the transaction to continue, and report it in secret. and if an authority then sends a court order to freeze assets. then they can hold funds hostage.(by court order only)

an exchange under its own terms and conditions cannot steal users funds. they can only decline to offer features/services to users they suspect of breaking their own business rules, but must always offer a withdrawal/exit/refund of the value to take out of the service to then never be able to use the service again,

any exchange that is freezing funds and not allowing withdrawal, without stating a court order. is breaking the law themselves.

I know that Taproot addresses are starting with bc1p, and Native Sewgit addresses start with bc1q.

and here is the funny..
taproot was promoted that "no one will be able to distinguish if its a standard transaction or a taproot transaction.."
um.. the 'q' and 'p' kind of give it away

im not saying not to learn about hydrogen bonds.. im saying make it more applicable to things teenagers think about.. such as their diet or plastics. to atleast get the information to "soak in" as if its a needed common fact worthy of remembering beyond an exam a day after 'revising' the periodic table.

just making it a boring "hydrogen bond" "periodic table" numbers numbers numbers. doesnt actually let the information enter the brain like a sponge and soak in.. however learning about how hydrogen and oxygen bond to make water and how hydro carbons(oil/plastic) differ from carbo hydrates(fats sugars) atleast makes it feel that learning about hydrogen bonds is more relevant to real life, actually needed info that can help in general life.

all im saying is teaching styles that inspire soaking up information that lasts passed the exam should be rewarded.. but poor teaching style just to get a student to pass an exam and then never thought about again should not be rewarded.

i have learned many things. but i have then forgot just as much, if i found it irrelevant to my general life needs.

EG instead of learning trig' by doing the paper math of a2+b2=c2 is not helpful for life skills. but putting it into practice of knowing that if you walk south down a road 200metres and then east along a road 200metres or you wanted to take a diagonal short cut through a park, how many metres, how much time can you save in your walk.

at school many decades ago. i never really 'soaked in' trig', because i was taught the 'math' using boring 'heres some numbers. heres the formulae. no explanation why the 2 is needed. just tell me answers'. so i never needed to bother to remember the formulae or why it works, as the formulae was just there on paper right infront of me. so no need to think about it.

it wasnt until i used it practically using real life scenarios, that it made sense to actually remember the formulae a2+b2=c2
7366  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Teachers deserve more on: January 05, 2022, 01:47:47 AM
Teachers really deserve more because they are the reasons why all category of people from different field become what they become.
The world do not really acknowledge teachers because they are not paid much.Training human being from the scratch till he becomes an honourable man in the society is not easy, but they are the least appreciated set of people.

not all teachers are equal..
.. teachers in developing countries/under privileged neighbourhoods do not really teach future rocket scientists.

..

Insurance companies will provide the data to law enforcement to investigate crashes, because if law enforcement request the data, insurance companies will comply with any requests. Large telecommunications companies do the same when police want to locate geo data of someone's cell phone. It seems innocuous at first, having the insurance companies install a black box to vindicate teen drivers of exorbitant insurance prices. But you give them a little and they will take a lot.

But as I alluded to before, this sort of "mass surveillance state" has been going on for decades. Whether it be cars or not -- ie ISP's routinely monitor user activity and will gladly hand over that data if asked by the government. Car location/data is just another layer to the mass surveillance

the actual method of ISP is not that they are 'actively monitoring' .. they do not have a team of 1million staff watching 30 screens of everyones live data (30m customers).. instead they just archive the data(recording).. and if something comes up in the future where they need to look closely at someone.. THEN they take a close look at all the historic data.

same with black boxes. its not a live feed to authorities. but it is a data gathering device which at a certain need to look at the historic data, they can.

same with banks. banks dont report every transaction. but store bank statements, and if ever asked for historic data, they provide it.

its not so much a "mass surveillance state" tin foil hat of spies actively watching your every move and giggling every time they see you pull your pants down.. its more of a "mass recording state" just to be more realistic to how it plays in the real world grammatically.

yea. i know tin foil hats love their buzzword. but if they just stopped using tin foil hat bad buzzwords, people might take them more serious..

EG
"mass surveillance state" = "mass recording state"
"chem trails" = "cloud seeding"

Choice the differents of tyranny and freedom.

even in tyranny there is a choice
live by tyranny or die
follow the rules or have hands chopped off
drive a spy car or walk

there is always a choice. you may just not like the options

trigonometry was just a silly example. of something not commonly practiced compared to how much using a credit card is.

its things like:
spending 3 weeks learning about the first world war. but only spending a day on sex education.
spending 3 months learning about the periodic table. but spending only a week learning about sugars and fats and diets

i know that teaching chemistry seems like something everyone should learn. but make it more practical and applicable to real life needs of such.

EG why waste time learning about atomic bonds of hydrogen where no one has any pure hydrogen stored at home to play with. where as teaching about hydrogen, oxygen and carbon bonds. and how it relates to everything from sugars, fats plastics is more interesting and relevant and still teaches about atomic bonds, but more worthy of remembering

its been a few decades since i was in college, and longer since secondary school. but i seemed to have learned more about computer programming during the 6 week summer break than i did in the whole 2 year college course and then the extra years in higher education.

i learned more about sex-ed in one evening with a girlfriend during secondary school than i did in my entire 11 years of primary, secondary education.. but then again.. none of my teachers were attractive enough to want to learn the things i got to learn from my then girlfriend

The question is, what will they use black box data for? Wait till they make it a crime to remove any such "black box" from your own vehicle.

UK new drivers (teenagers) can get insurance discount if they put a lil black box in their car, (optional, not mandated)
but here is the thing. you dont get discount until the renewal of second-third year,

without blackbox:
also usually if you dont crash your car your premium does not go up, and goes down because you drove a year with no claims.
also getting to 20yo without a crash premiums drop significantly as you are no longer in the immature 'boy racer' age bracket.

with blackbox:
your insurance can go up even WITHOUT making a claim for an accidents, because the penalise you for:
speeding
long distance
nighttime driving
veering the steering wheel too violently(near misses, speeding round corners, drifting)
over using the brakes(tailgating, not keeping safe distance, not observing hazards ahead)

your insurance wont automatically decrease if no claim, because now the clause has to show that you have not drove inefficiently, unsafely, outside parameters aswell.
7372  Other / Politics & Society / Re: EU on the way to become a total cesspool on: January 04, 2022, 06:32:14 PM
the issue with compressed air cars is the weight/efficiency ratio.

the weight of compressed air is not as efficient as any other form of propellant/fuel/battery weight per mile travelled.
if they just tried to put more pressured air into the same size tanks. the result is a bomb.
the electric needed to compress the air is also not negligible.

'charging' the car may take 1-2 minutes to do 80mile distance if its using a compressed air "station" that already has compressed air ready to just force into a cars tank at high pressure.. but if at home using a home sized air compressor (like a small trailer/generator on wheels) powered by electric or fuel, would take 4-6 hours to compress and push air into the tank to do the same 80miles of driving distance.

so its not all utopian dream of driving on free air using 2 minutes of charge time.

electric vehicles have better energy store weight to distance economics/efficiency. where charging can be faster and cheaper and lighter. so that is why they went into the EV direction.

the only "aircar" im interested in is a human pilot sized EV drone that can take off and fly me around off the ground.. not a air pressured piston car that only drives on roads.. but before you reply.. i know i know. i can be tracked by radar and have to geolocate myself due to air-regulations concerning flight plans and such.
7373  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Teachers deserve more on: January 04, 2022, 05:51:16 PM
touchy subject

kindergarten/playschool:
teachers usually are just there as babysitters. giving kids a paintbrush or a ball to play with while parents work.
some do however go the extra mile to inspire and teach. but broadly its a babysitting gig.
its a little hard to gauge which Kindergarten teacher has gone the extra mile. unless their was a 'parent survey' teacher review system to rate teachers based on toddlers behaviour.
..

k-12/primary school:
classes teach the basic things society need to get on day to day. reading, calculating. learning a bit about history and how things work. which is pivotal for making the difference of the success of a kid in later life. this needs to be rewarded to ensure all kids get a good first step into eduction and life. by this i mean rewarded based on a % based on the success of all kids in the class meeting basic thresholds.
many schools/education systems dont have diploma's or exams, where kids move on to secondary/highschool even if they have not learned how to read or write where by 'graduating' is based on age not skill.

kids should not be held back from their peers by keeping them in k-12 until they pass an exam. but k-12 teachers should not get a bonus if half the class cant read when the kids age-out of k-12.

..

highschool/secondary school:
teach kids many things. but sometimes useless things that are never used in the real life, taking time away from things that might be used in the real world.. like wasting weeks on trigonometry, but not taking a day to learn about how banks 'print money' using the scam deception of credit cards and mortgages. i think keeps should learn about responsible 'lending'/using credit. more so than trigonometry.

teacher should be more rewarded for teaching life skills and things that are needed. not rewarded for following a national curriculum plan
..

universities/colleges:
each student pays on average $£10k+ a year and a class is like 30+students strong, some 100 per class. meaning the professors are paid many hundreds of thousands.. by which the quality and depth of detail of those classes should reflect over $300k of professors teaching.
many university professors just turn up, write a title on a chalk board, and ask their students to do their own research on the topic. something not worthy of $300k a year

..
im not saying dont reward teachers for what they are doing now. im saying add in some incentive for teachers to go the extra mile. and reward that with extra reward
7374  Other / Politics & Society / Re: EU on the way to become a total cesspool on: January 04, 2022, 05:18:57 PM
They don't want you to use oil-powered cars because they don't want you to travel long distances. If you are going to use planes you need to get stabbed. If you are going to use a car, it should be a 4 wheel computer.

They came up with this EV crap because it would be hard to ban the old petro-cars and give everybody a petro-powered 4 wheel computers without a legit excuse. Climate change crap is the perfect excuse to get rid of the old spy-free cars.

And guess what, people are actually paying from their own pocket to get their own prison cells.

my EV had no data loggers. .. but im in the UK, not europe. so one bonus of brexit, escape EU laws.

that said yes future vehicles will be more data driven devices. used as evidence after crimes, not used to prevent crimes.
EG instead of putting sensors on a steering wheels of 'self driving' cars to sense touch, to be sure that a driver is ready to operate the vehicle if the 'self driving' element fails. they instead want to put camera's in to watch the driver and if they are not ready to take control if/when an accident happens. the evidence is used after the fact to fine/imprison the driver..

its not about preventing accidents. its not used to prevent crimes. but to convict/fine people for crimes/accidents.
7375  Other / Politics & Society / Re: EU on the way to become a total cesspool on: January 04, 2022, 05:03:11 PM
if the aim is to stop speeding.. then simply put in a speed limiter..

had an electric bicycle where its motor would not physically exceed the 25kmh(15/3mph) limit of the law for electric bikes.. and guess what it did not require data logging. it simply prevented me from going over 25kmh(15.3mph) from its motor propelling the bike.

.. the foolish thing about these car black boxes, is they can log and timestamp people speeds but they do not stop people from speeding. meaning its not used to prevent speeding. its used for police to get evidence to send people a bill for a EurXXX fine after they have been speeding.
its for making money, not to prevent speeding.

if europe cared more about preventing speeding/car accidents/death due to speeding. black box logging is not the solution. speed limiters are
7376  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can Man Lives without Sex? on: January 04, 2022, 04:40:35 PM
Yeah, all the religious bullshit aside, biologically men can live for years without sex, especially after having a scare of the "marriage" kind. Some women tend to think tricking men into marriage is a valid tactic. I disagree.
In any case, I have voluntarily abstained from sex for the last 7 years, and I'm still kicking. Not a lot of fun though...

sex is not the problem .. the relationship/commitment is.
the drama of debate and conversation in a relationship should not be a reason to abstain.. it should be a reason to not commit yourself to long term relationships.

i am not religious, but i do like to use religious theology against religious people.
so..
FREE WILL has been given to us all to make our own choices, where forgiveness is always given to those who have done no harm to others.. so no harm no foul in having consensual multiple friends with benefits, no strings attached.

..
i do enjoy laughing when i see religious people preach 'freewill and forgiveness' whilst also preaching contradictory "die sinner die"
7377  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If you were to create your own society, small or big, what would it look like? on: January 04, 2022, 04:34:43 PM
- People who make the choice to live off other people's 'taxes' either as 'public servants' or contractors have VERY limited privacy.  The systems developed for tracking the plebs can be turned around and re-purposed.

 - People who make their own living by supplying what other people want voluntarily have vastly more privacy protections than they enjoy in most current societies.

partially agree with this..
however its the accounts of spending that should be made public for the public funded 'servants/contractors'. this does not mean everything they do in life should be made public. EG no laws prohibiting public servants from using window curtains. i know some people want to know what public servants genitals look like or how many hip thrusts it takes for a public servant to ejaculate. but this is not anything to do with the use of public funds

no one should have their personal lives made public..

the thing i find completely sad about modern democracy in politics.. a public servant can be made/forced to resign over petty things like cheating on a spouse or making an inappropriate joke. but if that same public servant lied about something political or caused harm to citizens by using his role to make something jokable/harmful as official policy. he is not made to leave office.

EG trump was not put on trial for telling people to drink bleach or eat lightbulbs..(affects and harms general public)
yet other politicians lost their positions for having extra marital affairs(nothing to do with general public)

make a comment about jewish people where no jews are physically harmed . resignable offence
make a comment about wanting to bomb another country(N.korea/middle east) because of their religion/culture. no action
7378  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Does Binance, Bittrex reports assets to tax authority? on: January 04, 2022, 03:35:41 PM
Binance and Bittrex will never report to your countries tax authorities. However, if you are living in a country where bitcoin is illegal

exchanges that handle fiat will and should be obligated to report the fiat value of their customers if more then $£E10k is moved, as those exchanges are money service businesses. not retailers.

however. the exchanges that do not touch fiat and only offer 'swaps' from one altcoin to another.. never touching fiat. then the laws are less clear and depend on how a country deems crypto.

just because an exchange plays with both fiat and bitcoin. does not mean the bitcoin half obsolves the exchange of its fiat laws
7379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopoulos says to stop using paper wallets, do you agree? on: January 04, 2022, 03:29:57 PM
Because of OPSEC, we use a codeword at home for "Bitcoin" instead of calling it Bitcoin. As much as I like promoting Bitcoin, I don't want the kids to talk about it at school.

7380  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can Man Lives without Sex? on: January 04, 2022, 02:31:00 PM
Sex is the intercourse between man and a woman which meant to reproduce likeness.

But the contemporary generation take sex as an intoxicating flashly enjoyment that causes sin which is against God.

Yes men can live without Sex but how possible is that because men love sex to the core that most of them can't even control their libido.

So, how can one controls his huge?

sex is not meant purely for procreation.

biology put things into humans like sensations, hormones, urges.. offering pleasure, happiness and contentment.
this is nature, natural and biological fact from millions of years AGO
meaning sex is natural and pleasurable before religion said no

its only HUMAN politics and religious law that then limited sex to be portrayed as purely for procreation

what you learn is that history shows that before religion people had pleasure, people had vices.
but with that came the risk of spreading diseases and causing harm via non-consensual sex(rape)

so laws(religious scripts) were created to limit these. and over time religious extremists took these safeguards too far and made sex sound like its evil and should be avoided at all costs.

..
sex for pleasure is not 'contemporary' or 'modern', it is INFACT older and more natural than the religious script propaganda
religion is actually the 'contemporary and modern' change to civilisation.. not sex.

you can spot that religion is contemporary, and that religious laws were based on safe sex. because ever since condoms were invented and awareness of asking consent religions changed their stance on their laws and made it so gay, unmarried, sex is no longer a sin(against their law)
