741  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: DiabloMiner GPU Miner (LP, BFI_INT, async nw, multipool, 79xx GCN) on: July 18, 2012, 07:01:09 PM
I'm using windows 7, and I'm on Catalyst 12.6, with two ATI 7970's. One clocked at 1075 and the other at 1050, getting 1250 mhash/sec.

What would cause the following problem?

When I'm away from my computer, sometimes my GPUs will go from being 100% utilized to 30% utilized, dropping my mhash/sec to 400. Once I notice and come back and turn my displays back on (this usually happens when my displays are off), then the GPU utilization will ratchet back up to 100% and I'll get back to 1250 mhash/sec.

How do I fix this? As you can imagine, this is stupid frustrating paying for 2 ATI 7970s and having them hash at the same rate as 1 5870 randomly.

Sometimes this happens instantly once I turn my monitor off, other times it takes several hours to manifest. Any ideas?

Thats a known Windows bug. It force idles GPUs when the screensaver turns on or the screen turns off.

The solution is to disable the screensaver completely and turn off the thing that turns off the monitor, its in the power control panel.
742  Other / Off-topic / BFL ASIC Insurance now available on: July 16, 2012, 03:28:44 PM
A few miners out there are ponying up money to buy these new BFL ASIC units, but a lot instead either think BFL will fail to ship or will not ship what they promised.

To help smooth out the financial difficulties of either BFL shipping or not shipping, I am now providing insurance to protect those who are still on the fence or intend on never buying BFL.

Official thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=92244.0

This thread is locked to reduce pro-BFL trolls from drowning out legitimate miners.

This. Or you can save the authentication code just below the QR code (I think). Or both. Anyway, the most important thing is that you encrypt it, and store it in multiple locations. Smiley
Indeed you can. You can actually verify that it works by making the link on your phone not by QR code, but by taking the manual process of typing the secret.

Is it possible to make that backup once you have the Authenticator already installed and running?

Wouldn't a back up via Titanium Backup on a rooted device backup the necessary data as well?

iirc that works too. Not all people do or can use Titanium Backup.

OK Nefario says that he received an email from you on the 28th (of June I assume) re updating the contract to show the correct amount of interest, but you had actually made the split on May 31st a whole 4 weeks previously.

Nefario states that you are probably in breach of contract & I've now provided the additional info he requested on my buy dates etc to prove that you were undoubtedly so, therefor I am asking you once again to buy in these 507 shares at cost or I will have no alternative but to pursue you for this breach of contract.

Your original OP & the main thread for BTC-MC still inaccurately states .15 BTC per month interest as I've already pointed out & makes no mention at all of any share split & reduced dividend, perhaps you could at least correct that.

Copy by PM. to yochdog & to Nefario.

Angry neighborhood bastard mod here.

Nefario has a forum account, he can speak for himself.

I was just quoting from Nefarios post here & not speaking for him & if you want to mod something how about the scammers tag for yochdog as he is in breach of a contract & refuses to buy back in the fraudulently sold shares in his Co.

... or I can just flag your account for moderation by the admins.

BTCMC and Yochdog have done nothing wrong as far as I can tell, nefario just refuses to fix the oversight in the GLBSE software. Go try to get free money out of someone else, its not happening here.

On what grounds, I bought shares in good faith according to the contract that I saw & accepted, yochdog knew for 1 month that the contact was inaccurate, I would be more than happy to accept arbitration on this matter & as for calling me effectively a hustler well let someone unbiased arbitrate on that as well.

On what grounds? You're now harassing three different members of the community. You have a problem with the contract as listed on GLBSE? Take it up with nefario.

I'm not sure D, what about the big money spenders who don't want to advertise their purchase?

Also, your terms for success are dubious.

does this mean 23 Jalapenos, 1 Single, and 1 MiniRig (or whatever they call it) shipped by the end of October will be considered a success?

My advice is to give it up... You're welcome to proceed (obviously), but I'm not sure you've thought this through.

I mean, what if BFL manufactures shipping labels on dummy accounts to keep the long con going? This seems equally as likely as them being a long con in the first place.

For the record, I don't think they're a long con, but I'm willing to change my mind given evidence to the contrary.

Yes, 23, 1, and 1 would be considered successful. It would also be like 1/8th of the network all by itself.

BFL can manufacture shipping labels, but they'd have to be valid ones that have working tracking numbers and have actually been delivered somewhere. Plus, they still need to produce the 25 units to go with the labels.

If there is any doubt about the validity of any individual pieces of evidence, they simply won't be used. If BFL has actually shipped units for real, I really doubt there will be a lack of evidence.

For example: if Giga or Yochdog say "Hey Diablo, we got our units", then any evidence they pony up will most likely be the real thing. If some random person with a brand new forum account and is clearly a sockpuppet says they got 25 units, well, we're going to need more evidence.
754  Other / Off-topic / Re: Diablo Mining Company will never buy Butterfly Labs hardware on: July 09, 2012, 05:44:28 PM
This is an insurance product that will pay out either in the situation that BFL ships 25 units, or that they do not ship 25 units, depending on which insurance you buy.

Great. So if it wasn't bad enough that some moderators seemingly have no sense of objectivity, we now have a moderator endorsing and organizing gambling ?

Diablo, it's time to step down. Your jimmies are way too rustled over all this BFL stuff.

What does me providing an insurance product have to do with me being a moderator? If I never became moderator, I would have still done it... and the reason I was made moderator was because I wrote DiabloMiner. Should I step down from developing DiabloMiner because I do a lot for the community? You don't make any sense.

It doesn't come accross as a "insurance product". It looks a lot like a "put your money where your mouth is" gamble.

Insurance is gambling with statistics. Life insurance, for example, is where you gamble that the owner of the insurance will pay in more money (pre-investment) than is paid out on the policy at the time of death (post-investment).

Insurance isn't just "gambling". Its a customer paying money for the transference of risk (of any kind) to the insurance company. For someone buying life insurance, you pay a monthly due, and you receive the reduction of risk that if you die, your family will not go into debt. You pay auto insurance as a protection of the CHANCE of you getting into an accident, and having to buy a new car.

For someone who has purchased a BFL ASIC, the DI.BFLSC.Fail could be seen as an insurance. They are paying more BTC now, in case their investment doesn't pay off in the time frame allotted. They pay now, as a reduction of the risk of potential future failure.

However, the DI.BFLSC.Succeed does nothing to reduce risk. It's a risk for risk's sake, which is a gamble.

Nope, DMC is going to own 16 BTC of Succeed, it needs to insure against the outcome of BFL not being a long con.
755  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Diablo Insurance - Butterfly Labs BitForce SC Insurance on: July 09, 2012, 04:54:18 PM
Question: How sill you verify shipment of these 25 orders? The only way I know how is:

1) BFL posts shipping information at the end of October with # of shipped units, which I find unlikely, and I doubt you would believe them anyways.

2) You go by this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=89685.0 , which is entirely inaccurate. They have a little over 60 orders listed in that thread, out of a potential 1300 order numbers. Not exactly a complete representation...

Photos of units and photos of UPS/Fedex/USPS labels uncensored provided by forum goers will be more than enough to prove this. If they ship before October 31st, I imagine there will be more than enough evidence for DI.BFLSC.Success to win.

Ya I read that, and I never got the impression that he ordered 25 units. It sounds like he's making a bet whether BFL can ship ANY 25 units to ANY customers before the end of October.

Yes, this is what I wrote. No one else seems to have had any other interpretation.

You don't know what Artix 7 is and how much it cost.

You are just a spammer using this thread to market your GMP B.S.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xilinx
The Artix-7 family delivers 50 percent lower power and 35 percent lower cost compared to the Spartan-6 family and is based on the unified Virtex-series architecture. Xilinx claims that Artix-7 FPGAs deliver the performance required to address cost-sensitive, high-volume markets previously served by ASSPs, ASICs, and low-cost FPGAs. The Artix family is designed to address the small form factor and low power performance requirements of battery-powered portable ultrasound equipment, commercial digital camera lens control, and military avionics and communications equipment

According to my sources Artix7 (28nm) evaluation versions are allready out on the market and will be fully avalable early next year. The price depends on the casing and features of the chip. (Of course i cant talk about other markets then DACH) but avarage pricing for the comercial grade will be around 200 dollar.

Its not nice to write in a such offensive way, since you dnt seems to have any clou who i am. Of course i promote the GLARI mining project it will use Lancelot boards and we fully stand behind the development of ngzhang.
Instead of arguing that the Artix7 is the wrong chip for the mining purpose and you would suggest an other one, you just attack - that doesnt show yourself in a good light ChiangYay

Bull shit. You are full of bull shit.
It's better to check what have already been said about Artix 7 expansively on the forum before  showing  just a search on Vikipedia.
>> low power performance requirements of battery-powered portable ultrasound equipment, commercial digital camera lens control, and military avionics and communications equipment<<
Here we are talking of Ghash/s not  digital camera lens etc..

For your info read this as an example from somebody working for a large company that is a huge user of Xilinx FPGAs
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=91710.msg1011562#msg1011562

[However, based on this pricing Xilinx has shown us for the Virtex 7 devices, I would expect the low volume price of the V7 2000 device (their largest ever) to be at least $10,000 in low volume.  The low volume price for the largest V6 device right now is over 12k.  I'd guess once the V7-2000T finally goes in to production, even if you could get the deep discounts, you'd probably have to pay 3-5k each.]

I know who you are. You are a spammer with nothing in your hand only bubbles. Even a monkey watching your site and the pictures can understand that.
