what happened with block reward yst/today? Smiley from 5xmg earnings a day (few days ago) to 25 xmg ystday Smiley
Basically it's jumping; one may need to stick to mining so won't missing high reward blocks. Smiley

One problem I have with either Unicode or HTML codes is that they may not display correctly. Quite often I try things out and get something like ♫ instead of what I expected.
True. I've seen Ӎ, ᵯ are not shown properly on my iphone, and ⅀ has a different look.
744  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XMG] Coin Magi | CPU mining | PoS-II | PoM | Unique BLK reward | [MagiPay] on: March 14, 2015, 04:42:56 PM
I am thinking to make a poll post regarding voting for currency sign for XMG soon:

One thing to mention, it'll be far better if we can select a Unicode character that will allow us to use it anywhere. Let me be aware if you think the other options (image, code etc) that can be easily used too.

1st option: existing Unicode character

2nd option: if a symbol other than Unicode character is selected, we can use image / html code "temporarily"; but finally it shall be into the Unicode character table if we seriously push XMG into this space. I'm not sure how difficult it is yet.

Please search Unicode character candidate for XMG; reward is available.

Example of a random search I just did quickly:
ᵯ ₥

lightsplasher made a review on magi posted in his blog, he is currently one of the m-face members:

http://www.lightsplasher.com/2015/magi-coin-review/

I suggest community donates him for the efforts he has put in. It's a nice reading of his point of view with respect to the cryptocoin and magi.

lightsplasher's XMG address as posted in his blog: 9Romi8ZpevAwcu218gNsuCrv8i9Li6oarj

I sent some coins out to above address. The amount of coins is nothing more than just displaying friendly of this community. Pls don't ask giveaway something like that, as it is forbidden in bitcointalk. Adding XMG address into sig is strongly suggested, you can say "hey guys look at my sig & donate me", but I guess it won't work unless you speak of / did something which convince people to donate.  Tongue

748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - Proof Of Stake | MARKETPLACE on: March 14, 2015, 03:27:23 AM
So from what I am understanding, Rofo has stated that he will still support Noble with everything on the Website side? He's taking the role of a promoter and service provider for Nobl. And he's passing on the technical leadership to the community / Eagleflies.

That's more or less how it's been all along. Rofo has never been a dedicated 'dev'. Rofo's been the guy with a vision on the marketing and services side of things. His strengths are in marketing and community outreach. We still get our services, features, and support. Everyone should be happy with this.

...

I agree. After reading few pages back, I can understand Rofo's intention. Now I start to think about an idea: NOBL needs a team rising from community, a NOBL foundation something like that, that should be exactly what a crypto coin ends up with. There will be no so-called dev/leader etc, coin operates based on the foundation. I am sure Rofo will be glad to take a role in that based on what I read. Each member will be part of the foundation; one is the developer but no special than the one who is responsible for the marketing.

Edit, if one is unsatisfied with the coin specs, he should be able to raise up the issue and propose possible solutions, foundation / community votes for that. Once decision is made, things should move forward affirmatively rather than looking back.

Anyway, just my thought.

I'm on Raspbian. The excute do not work. Nothing happens.

Please check out my GitHub page, https://github.com/feldenthorne/magi/tree/armv7l_official. You should be able to build the Qt wallet after entering the following:

Code:
sudo apt-get install qt4-qmake libqt4-dev build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev libssl-dev libdb5.1++-dev git
git clone https://github.com/feldenthorne/magi
cd magi
git checkout armv7l_official
qmake
make

I recently made some changes that should fix builds for the RPi2, so you should be good.

Edit: Just updated the binary release on GitHub, but you should probably build it yourself because it's always better to be more cautious than less.
And here's my GitHub pull request from the official repo for the wary: https://github.com/magi-project/magi/pull/5.

I merged pull request, finally; Erkallys, let us know if it works for you.

I hope he will can help me because it's turning me crazy !

Sorry about that, digibob00 will be the best person for Raspbian, shoot him a PM. In my linux box (xubuntu), in whatever the way launching qt-wallet, it's just doing well.

Besides the qt wallet, I suggest compiling magid (use the guide I posed in the prior post), and run it from command line. magid will exactly do the same thing as the qt wallet including staking.
753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XMG] Coin Magi | CPU mining | PoS-II | PoM | Unique BLK reward | [MagiPay] on: March 13, 2015, 07:14:50 PM
I just download the source from github or I need to pass by the Terminal (sorry if it is stupid it's my first day in Linux world) ?

Edit : made. But now it asks me with what application open it (executable).

Maybe you need to set the file permissions to add executable to them?  The easiest way is to use the file viewer and click “Allow executing file as program” under the properties for the file.  You can also use the “chmod 755 magi-qt” command at the terminal.

I was set in the properties that no one could execute it. Now everyone so I click on it and then execute. And then ... NOTHING ! Just nothing happen. Help me please.

Can you try running it from the terminal and see if there are any error messages that show up when you try to run the file? (From terminal: ./magi-qt)  Hopefully that will give some clues as to what is the problem.

When I click on it I have the option "Launch from a Terminal". But it open a Terminal that shut down the following second.

Edit : when I write ./magi-qt from the Terminal it says me " Binary file impossible to launch".

What's your linux distro? I mostly think the issue is with compilation. Installation of dependencies can be found here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg8800103#msg8800103

You may compile magid and run it as well. (run from the terminal: ./magid &)

Right click on magi-qt, can you find "Excute" and run it from there?

What is the minimum staking time ?
2hrs.

Oh fiddlesticks!

Just tried to send a rather large amount of XMG to myself for staking and got "Error. Transaction creation failed".

Wallet version 1.2.1.1 64 bit 11/Jan/15 04:18 from m-wallet-1.2.1.1.zip

Is there a hard limit on the maximum amount in one transaction?

Yeah, this is because a rather large amount of inputs needed to send large amount of coins.

Looks nice... To each one who posts a design of currency symbol, please have your XMG address posted too. For now, I will personally send 50 - 100 XMG right away. The image must be sort of like a currency; the amount depends on my "vision" on the image (appear to be currency symbol, easy-to-use (you can tell how to use it easily), looking fair etc) (sorry only my personal opinion here at this moment since I'm using my personal funds Cheesy). Characters other than Σ can be the options too.

I kind of like U+2140 (Double Struck N-Ary Summation)

We could use it "as is".

Hmm, I didn't think of this Cheesy, it's pretty straightforward though; added to the list. I will make a poll post during the weekend.

Sure - there is no need to rush this and it is not just a debate between the horizontal or vertical bar(s). It does not have to be a single character symbol either.

I have always rather liked this:-

Yeah, that's an option too.
759  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XMG] Coin Magi | CPU mining | PoS-II | PoM | Unique BLK reward | [MagiPay] on: March 12, 2015, 08:40:17 PM
Let me know if this will be a new contest. Rules and deadline.
Than i can post it on the other forums!

I did have a think about rules for this. Cross-platform compatibility is a must, thus:-

1) The character must be rendered using HTML and CSS (or inline STYLE) as required. A blown-up image from a screen grab will be fine for judging purposes, but the method by which it is rendered must be declared if voted the winner.

2) Only "Web-safe" fonts may be used http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css_websafe_fonts.asp

The deadline would have to be 09:30 GMT on 20th March 2015. If you do not know why now, you will by then.

However, I am not making any rules nor setting the deadline, so that is only a suggestion.

Well I am okay with 7 days voting, however I do believe it's unwise if we end up with making decision out of 40 or even 100 votes, if magi is supposed to be seen by hundreds of people or more. Also thinking different since we're not voting for a video or slogan contest.

The main debate is between vertical, horizontal bars, some other forms probably. Correct me if one wants to vote for a best design for the same style, for example horizontal bar, but I see this will make the task complicated. If we get designs with different length, I think better to put them as one category unless they look very different. Take bitcoin as an example, voting among B, ฿ and Ƀ (I am sure people can make different look of Ƀ, but that's not the point imho).
