741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.1 on: December 11, 2016, 12:58:37 PM
This is the "carrot or stick" approach.
The 0.5% is the carrot for the masses to enter the SSL prison.
When the majority of the miners (sheeps) voluntarily enter the prison, the plain connection will be removed (stick), and escape will be impossible.
Then it will be easy to increase the fees at will.
Same story again.

Nice of you to compare people with sheep.
I'm not going to remove plain connection, so you still can try to remove 2% devfee and become rich.
I never increase devfee, only reduce.

Anyone noticed the post of the guy who circumvented the devfee with his tamper is gone.
Good news for Claymore and all the honest miners here.

Yes, thank you all for support, also thanks to mods that care about removing cracks from their forums.
I have enough experience in these games. These "hackers" think that all their cracks work.
Readme explains things about cheating clearly.
Of course it's possible to cheat and not to turn protection on, but it's rather difficult to see whether it's working, it's just a few %. So in most cases using cracks is similar to using "-nofee" option.

You misunderstood.
I pay my fees normally.  I am a decent "hacker", not a thief.  I WANT to pay my fees, i don't HAVE TO.  I perfectly well know how to "adjust" my fees, to 0%, and anything to 0 - 100% generally  (layer 7 manipulation in a smart router)..  Even without any tampering at the data stream, you may pay 0% or anything between 1.9 - 9.1% fee.  Simple math.
That doen't meen that i will  do it, and even worst that i will propagate this to other users.  As a developer myself, i am exactly at your position.
That i am telling, is that ENFORSEMENT of your rights (or law in  general), must not hurt the life of 99%+ of us lawful users (citizens) because of the 1%- of thiefs.  This is a terrible foreseable future, and i strongly oppose.
You don't have to remove plain connection, the POOLS will!  You will have nothing to blaim for...  But the simple user will be obliged to follow SSL if he wants to mine.  This is slavery.
Thanks for your app.
p.s.  yes most people let others to think for themselves and blindly repeat every nonsense they hear, like sheeps.  Is it new to you?

I don't want to hurt users and I'm not going to do it in any way; if you think that I do it, I'd like to know more details. Pools won't remove plain connections too, I see no reasons why they must do it, you can ask pool owners if they are going to do it.

Everything is better with bluetooth encryption!
743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.1 on: December 11, 2016, 11:07:10 AM
SSL was implemented long time ago for mining already but was removed again due to the increased network lag.

Lags can only create a pool if it spends a lot of time to encrypt/decrypt data, am I correct?
SSL connection is based on same sockets and it takes almost zero time on client side to encrypt/decrypt 1Kb of data.
I'm curious about server load, is it too expensive to use encrypted connections for you?

Would be nice if you will add ability to use environment variables in "epools.txt" and "config.txt" files, like in zcash miner.

Ok I will release an update soon.
746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.1 on: December 09, 2016, 04:00:26 PM
v9.1:

- additional range checks in code for better stability.
- reduced devfee, it's 2% now (72sec instead of 90sec) if you use secure SSL/TLS connection, currently Flypool and Suprnova pools support encrypted connections, see Readme for samples.
- improved "-di detect" option: now after GPU order detection miner starts mining with the detected order.
- added ability to use environment variables in "epools.txt" and "config.txt" files. For example, define "WORKER" environment varibale and use it as "%WORKER%" in config.txt.
747  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.0 on: December 09, 2016, 11:55:16 AM
ZEC has complex PoW which consists of many steps, they are different and therefore have different power usage.
If your PSU cannot handle power usage peaks, it's not a problem of the miner.
Also note that I try to achieve maximal speed, it always causes more power usage and more GPU usage, so if you have OCed GPUs or weak PSU it may work for v8 but may fail for v9.
BTW, I added a couple of additional range checks for better stability (these checks are non-critical, just for sure), I will release an update in a few hours. Note this update will not change power usage.
748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.0 on: December 07, 2016, 10:37:23 PM
Was 9.0 the last one or will you make another one!  Roll Eyes <3 Claymore!
Good question. We need an answer. I am wondering if he can get some more hashes out of hd7950 and especially from rx470 and rx480

v9.0 is not the last version, further speedup is possible. But don't expect another +30% in a couple of days please Smiley
749  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore 9 freeze on: December 07, 2016, 10:00:27 PM
Try to mine on 2-3 cards as a test. Perhaps it's PSU, if you see that GPU takes 120W, it takes it in average. Peak wattage can be higher and if several cards have a peak at same moment, it can cause such problems.
750  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.0 on: December 07, 2016, 06:35:23 PM
STOCK R9 280X in all rigs making a lot of rejected shares! Not OC'ed or something... back to V8... V9 says it makes 330sols/s on 280x but 20% rejects...

It can be due to drivers, make sure you use 15.12 drivers.
751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.0 on: December 07, 2016, 06:34:22 PM
For me miner will not work with i 8 (   I have 1 x ATI 7970 + 3 x ATI 7950, 32 GB RAM and 32 Gb virtual memory ):
What is the problem  ?

Read OP or Readme and set variables GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT and GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT to 100.
752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.0 on: December 07, 2016, 05:57:37 PM
Well i have a strange drawback than
280x
V8 -214-216
V9 - 205-6
What is going on?
-i2 for both

use a higher -i value

RTFM
Ok strange thing happens!
Non modified 280x Elpida mem, -I 8 gets 221sols
But my 5 Hynix 280x with modified straps , if i put -I above 3 , strange thing happens gpu 4 shows 0sol and gpu 0 shows 330SOLS which is insane , and there are many rejected shares, I restarted the miner and disabled all gpus except gpu0 and again it hashes with 331sols and many rejected shares , Claymore would you comment this phenomena!
-I 3 gives 220 to all and they work ok! BUT

Yeah I can comment this. Don't modify bios and don't overclock cards too much. If you do it - you must know what you are doing and be ready to such problems. GPU does not work properly on complex algorithms and produces pure garbage instead of good results. Validating results will require CPU resources so I don't do it and you see that GPU shows crazy hashrate. But it is garbage.
753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.0 on: December 07, 2016, 03:28:57 PM
v9.0:

- improved speed by 3-20% (depends on card model). About 310H/s on stock 390X, 220H/s on stock RX480, 295H/x on stock Nano.
- added "-i 7" and "-i 8" values, about 1% speedup, but can be unstable in some cases.
- added SSL/TLS encryption support for better security, see "-zpool" option description in Readme file for details.
- added "License.txt" file that contains the License Agreement.
- added "-v" option.
- several bug fixes and minor improvements.
- EthMan: improved saving options.

What card shows highest hash rate increases (by your estimate?) Also. Are we at the end of the runway for updates or at least a significant slowdown of hash rate increases?

270x:  +20%
4xx:   +15%

I don't expect much higher speeds like +30-50%.

-r -1 working anybody? I dont want miner to take actions about card that hangs, but if it does, i get white opencl message and miner quits. Even if i turn that card off manually Angry

Use "-wd 0". Though you will see messages that there are problems anyway, but you must know about them so it's ok.

I will release new version within 24 hours.

I think the newest version is also provided before to some VIP guys, right ?

I never had any private versions. Noone has new version yet.

If something happened with your system or hardware - it's Claymore! I saw messages that my miners destruct GPUs, PSUs, crash Windows etc. I won't be surprised when someone discovers that the milk always goes bad because of using my miners.
If you think that I write viruses instead of miners and you are the one who finally discovered it, it's a good idea to read OP or Readme:

......
- Windows 10 Defender recognizes miner as a virus, some antiviruses do the same. Miner is not a virus, add it to Defender exceptions.
I write miners since 2014. Most of them are recognized as viruses by some paranoid antiviruses, perhaps because I pack my miners to protect them from disassembling, perhaps because some people include them into their botnets, or perhaps these antiviruses are not good, I don't know. For these years, a lot of people used my miners and nobody confirmed that my miner stole anything or did something bad.
Note that I can guarantee clean binaries only for official links in my posts on this forum (bitcointalk). If you downloaded miner from some other link - it really can be a virus.
However, my miners are closed-source so I cannot prove that they are not viruses. If you think that I write viruses instead of good miners - do not use this miner, or at least use it on systems without any valuable data.
......

Currently I check different cards, it takes a lot of time, it seems in next version there will be "-a" option to select best algorithm implementation for your cards.
About speed: for example, 4xx cards will get about 15% speedup. 390 cards will get less.

PS. Please don't PM me about getting pre-release version - I don't have any private versions/builds.
Well u no we are all waiting and constantly checking in for this update since you told us it would be released in 2 to 3 days, that time frame is now up and would it be to much trouble for you to give us an indication of when u plan to release v9

I never said about 2-3 days timeframe for v9.
