781  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What could be the cause of this? on: October 26, 2023, 02:24:37 AM
You don't seem to be familiar with how Blue Wallet works, or just a self-custodial wallet in general. I'd suggest you get familiar with it when you have the time since re-installation is a last resort most of the time. Try to use dns encryption if you don't want to buy a VPN to check whether your ISP is acting up or not. CMIIW.
782  Economy / Services / Re: Moderator Wanted - Site Development and Community Building on: October 26, 2023, 02:02:34 AM
Your forum barely has any content as it is. Why would anyone consider managing your website? I'd suggest you focus on growing it first, then you can probably look for a voluntary moderator after your forum has enough traffic. If not, then a paid position is necessary. Post it on the service board if you're serious about this and can pay with BTC, or on the altcoin boards if you want to use alts.
783  Other / Archival / Re: ✅ [ANN] [banned mixer] | Bitcoin Mixer | Bitcoin Tumbler | Since 2019 ✴️✴️ on: October 25, 2023, 03:17:15 AM
Understandable, my ISP is quite popular to begin with so I wouldn't be surprised if some users use the IP for spam or something similar. I use VPN to browse the clearnet but since I use a cheap service it is not surprising that the IP is also abused by others. I wouldn't recommend visiting clearnet if people want to mix, to begin with.
784  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sheepy - new cryptocurrency payment gateway on: October 25, 2023, 03:05:21 AM
I don't think the use of a payment gateway system will be an effective offer over using a p2p network on the blockchain, am not saying this to discourage for your service or what you offer, but this is one of the benefits of this forum, we advise on the best alternatives while people make their own final decision.
Payment systems are not here to replace P2P trading though, they are here to help sellers provide a payment system to accept Bitcoin so their buyers can use their BTC to buy stuff. The withdrawal stuff is just here to help them liquidate their sats after they make successful sales. It is just there for convenience, not the main selling point of such a system. If anything, his competition is another popular open-source and self-hosted payment system like BTCPay Server. CMIIW.
785  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 31 days later.. Testing own strategy on: October 25, 2023, 02:41:11 AM
I need more than 20 people to be able to publish the strategy on TradingView and not waste money in vain. If you want to try it, please join the Telegram group, and when we reach 20 people, I will upload the strategy along with a manual for its use. Thank you.
I'm not familiar with how TradingView rewards its publisher, but do you really need to pay them and must have at least 20 subscribers before you make a profit? The numbers seem to come out of nowhere. I never heard similar things from others who create new threads and wanted to share their strategy with others. Personally, I also feel less inclined to join a random group just to know if it works or not, especially if the members are so few.
786  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A more scientific mindset is necessary to avoid scams. on: October 25, 2023, 02:23:22 AM
While it is a scientific paper, Bitcoin still has a mining algorithm that was never designed to advance science, and the Bitcoin community really hates science. Bitcoin uses science, but that does not count at all since it is much better to contribute to science than to simply use it.
Why would it need to advance science? Bitcoin is not scientific research, so obviously it will just incorporate the most secure algorithm available at the time it was developed. I wouldn't be surprised if a new algorithm comes out and is stronger, without a ton of drawbacks, people will fork or move to that. Besides how does it help to avoid scams even if satoshi or others make a new algorithm? Most retail users don't really care about the nitty-gritty tech.

Where does this hating science narrative come from? Due to the fact that many disprove the narrative that mining consumes a lot of energy or produces a ton of waste? That doesn't make sense. Most arguments that they bring to disprove this also use scientific research. Why would anyone hate science if it can improve Bitcoin or help its adoption?
787  Other / Meta / Re: Wallet Software Board Need General Wallet Thread - Complicated Task For Admin on: October 25, 2023, 02:08:51 AM
Although user still can create new thread about certain wallet if they missed megathread or have specific question.
The mod can probably pin one or two of them if the wallet is popular and there's tons of discussion around it. Although the question would be probably what kind of topic needs a new thread instead of posting it on the mega thread. From my experience pinned thread tends to get more views even from beginners, so that's that. Kinda hard to prove since it is based on my gut feeling in the end though.
788  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blackrock ETF listed on the ticker index… perhaps it’s approved? on: October 24, 2023, 02:44:35 AM
The occurrence from fake news to bullish for approval is very head scratching. Was it only fake news or was it really a leak?
I mean, both can be true. The previous news could be fake and the one who shared the story is just lucky that his fake news has more weight now. I'm also surprised to see the rally this morning, at the very least this proves that people are very easy to get into fomo when there are some speculative changes on the market. Nothing wrong with securing their profits though, it is impossible to make money if you don't follow the market to begin with. CMIIW.
789  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Improving Bitcoin Protocols against attack on: October 24, 2023, 02:36:33 AM
-snip-
Where does this conversation happen? So basically your goal is to solve this port-blocking issue? I think the point that the government can easily block your access is quite overstressed here. While they can force your ISPs to do it, I doubt it would be faster than people moving to different ports or randomizing it. CMIIW.

Anyway, I second the suggestion to move this to development & technical discussion instead of the mining board. You can do it by clicking the move button on the bottom left of your thread.
790  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: The Geyser.fund team is here 🌊 on: October 24, 2023, 02:28:13 AM
Looks like your platform is already running and has some projects already. I tried to see the contributors list on some projects and some of them have no name. Are they anonymous or is that a bug? It looks a bit weird when you have a list of named users and then a blank one with some random profile picture.

Why not make an ANN thread on the Service discussion board if you want to attract new users or looking for feedback? Not many people visit this board afaik, so you'll get less exposure here.
791  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Looking for wallet on: October 24, 2023, 02:06:30 AM
zsh: segmentation fault  python2.7 pywallet.py --recover --recov_device='./thumb7.img'
If I'm not wrong, segmentation fault usually occurs when there are one or two missing libraries/not installed correctly. Some errors in the past also suggest this[1]. One of the users fixed it by installing pycrypto on his own.

How do you install python and pywallet? Maybe experienced people can help you more if you also post the full logs and your installation steps. CMIIW.

792  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: A New Perspective on Blockchain / Improving Colored Coins Idea on: October 24, 2023, 01:44:28 AM
I am currently working on this and I believe that redeveloping the bitcoin system to handle wallet balances can easily decentralize any real-world asset.
Can you do an ELI5 of your idea because I can't really understand how it actually works or how it is competitive over other solutions to "decentralize real-world assets"? If your goal is just tokenization why not use stuff like side-chain or something similar? I don't think most people would agree to change how the system works just because you want to print tokens of your cow.
793  Local / Topik Lainnya / Re: Apakah SFI Sudah Pernah Ada Kopdar? on: October 23, 2023, 04:04:19 AM
794  Local / Marketplace (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: [Gratis] Jasa Konsultasi Spek Komputer (PC & Laptop) + Diskusi on: October 23, 2023, 03:12:37 AM
Kalau mau nambah RAM keywordnya "DDR4 3200MHz CL16" tapi tetap disarankan pakai brand & model yang identik kalau agan ga mau ribet OC manual kalau-kalau XMP Profile (OC auto) ga jalan.
795  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [INFO] Informasi Phishing, Malware, Virus Dst (WAJIB BACA) on: October 23, 2023, 02:47:01 AM

797  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [panduan] Cara Memasang Ekstensi BPIP.ORG di Browser Kiwi on: October 23, 2023, 02:20:14 AM

CMIIW.
798  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Error or scam with Bitcoin ETF news? on: October 21, 2023, 01:43:05 AM
But at the same time, I do not understand why news sources that publish false information are exempt from legal accountability. There is supposed to be a regulatory framework for the activity of these institutions, on the basis of which they gain part of their legitimacy. The news currently circulating does not indicate at all that those sources can be held responsible in any way.
Is there really no law in the US that can hold them accountable for doing terrible journalistic work? My search related to fake news usually ends up with information about defamation lawsuits. I don't think people can sue news agencies for that if they are sharing misinformation not related to any person. CMIIW.

I guess the only way to solve this is to stop relying on terrible journalistic websites or read at least three independent sources before you assume the information is legit. In an ideal world, Cointelegraph or other websites would die quickly after they share misinformation like this.

They are not, but with a twist!
The problem is in proving they are at fault for that!
What is the name of the law that governs this? Sounds a bit similar to the defamation law above, but I'm not sure if we're referring to the same thiing or not.
799  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Which ASIC miner too choose for Bitcoin Mining? on: October 20, 2023, 03:27:07 AM
So basically you're looking for calculator website like whattomine? They also have an ASIC section IIRC. I tried to access the cn domain for Bitmain but it seems their certificate has expired. I'd stick with Bitmain.com as of now. You can also verify it through their social media afaik. As for Iceriver, the website on their social media is the .io one. CMIIW.

This leads me to wonder how Bitcoin miners making money these days. How anyone can start Mining Bitcoin with this profitability while the block reward will be divided after the halving?
From what I read online, most miners have cheap access to electricity, or they never sell their Bitcoin directly and speculate that the price will increase later on and then sell their mining results at that time. If you just start right now, it is naive to expect that your mining results would lead to profit directly. It is impossible unless you somehow spend nothing to get your RIG and energy.
800  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How To Make Bitcoin Profit - Tell To Arab People - It Is Haram on: October 20, 2023, 03:17:05 AM
Your strategy assumes that Islamic traders are a huge force in Bitcoin trading, all Islamic traders follow the same interpretation of the law, or Arab traders are key influencers on the market. I don't think all of those are true. At the very least, their influence on the market is arguably low compared to the US or Chinese market. Not to mention I doubt most of those traders will follow the interpretation that directly affects their means to make money.

There is really no need to force people to sell Bitcoin as low as possible if your target is just to make a profit. Just keep buying and DCA your way and stop being panicky every time there is bad news. If my experience tells me anything unless you have a ton of capital trying to change the trend instead of following the trend is futile.
