Didn't you know that it wasn't Thomas Edison or GE that invented the light build and it is just another misinterpretation being spread as the truth?

How do you deal with hysterical relatives badgering for questions that nobody knows the answer to? No answer will satisfy them.

perhaps we should start over?

Who gets to decide?
Is mc_lovin the OP still around?
If the OP is still around do you think he wants to start this all over again?
Have you ever wondered how many people will get demoted if someone deletes this topic?

Why would they delete it?
Don't you know that topics get deleted all the time for various reasons?

What are the various reasons?

Does various reasons vary?

wouldn't it depend on the persons interpretation ? I mean the reason vary in terms of variety but do they vary between each other that's another question isn't it

788  Other / Off-topic / Re: Grammar 101.. on: April 28, 2014, 05:24:43 PM
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it better to use "easier than rather" than is so easy compared, it's not false per say, it's poor. I my self don't speak perfect English but I was corrected many times for such a thing by my English teachers especially when it comes to engineering reports or research papers ( I used to get them to proof read if I'm going to post something on an international data base )
English grammar is easier than rather French? This doesn't even make real sense to me. 'English grammar is easier than French.' This could work. This isn't a mistake, nor has anyone ever corrected me on that. There is always a better way of expressing yourself.

lol I just made a type on the " it is "easier than" rather .... isn't obvious ..... heck you've even wrote correctly a few words later.
789  Other / Off-topic / Re: The United States Government has become a den full of perpetrators of terrorism, on: April 28, 2014, 05:19:35 PM
I think the US was one of the biggest causes of the slavetrade.

That is factually incorrect. Out of the 9,500,000 Africans who were captured by the European slave traders, some 4,000,000 landed in Brazil, while the US received just 400,000. That is, USA received less than 5% of all the slaves. The survival rate was higher in the US, so the number of slaves increased after they were brought there.

However, the biggest culprits were the Arabs. They enslaved close to 18,000,000 Africans. The Arabs targeted mostly the women and children, while the Europeans mostly targeted adults (esp. males).

I believe that those numbers are far from being accurate you can just see the amount of black people in the US to figure out that those numbers are not by any mean honest (I guess the brain washing / propaganda machine is at work here and sometimes like you when I check such data I get tend the believe them then I check the other side of the story)

The Arabs as a majority of Muslims are forbidden from having having slaves, Slavery was one of the first things forbidden in Islam, also at that period 17-18 century Arabs were loosing so much of their power, and they were attacked from every side, being it from Europe or turk (Othman empire) while at the same time loosing in commerce (no more middle man since Spanish and Portuguese ships could go straight away to China and India, and there were several drought that spread hunger, of course this doesn't mean there wasn't slavery at all, and probably there was some slavary trafficing networks but in these circumstances it wasn't anywhere near the scale of what the Iberian countries did   Cheesy

History is a funny things, and it's funny how it is used a propaganda tool in the educational system nowadays, that's why I believe it is better like with media to get it feed, from different sources and the truth should be somewhere in the middle Smiley

And what I mentioned here is just one part of the equation, the other part is the shit that happened inside the US, do to capitalism practive, and anticompetitive ones ect

Both are inter-connected. After using dirty-tricks to control the world population, the US politicians are now resorting to the same to control their citizens. Perhaps by now they have realized that the biggest threat to their dominance doesn't come from the outside.  Grin

Yeah, but I think it's the average joe that can and willing to do much, it's just people with interesst fighting each other on the big scale, and some might use or drive the population for their purpose I feel Sad
791  Other / Off-topic / Re: Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. WTF? on: April 28, 2014, 05:06:17 PM
It's easy to scapegoat and blame them, but everybody else seems to pretty much know as much as they do which doesn't seem to be a lot.

OK. Let's forget the fact that they were inept and unprofessional. What about the treatment of the victim's family members by the Malaysians? Some of the family members were manhandled and dragged away, when they protested against the Malaysians.

America usually drags peaceful protesters away too. I'd need more info on the situation to comment further.

Relatives of passengers on missing flight MH370 have been forcibly removed from a news conference in Kuala Lumpur. The man and a woman were trying to speak to media

We're they kicking off and causing a scene?

There are also news that the some of the victim families are taking some of the Malaysian company workers as hostage not with arms just forcing them self and questioning them

theoretical physic, Engineering (You don't need advanced tools to achieve the optimization and some of the inventions we use in our daily life), medicine, farming....I mean there are many domains where you can have an advantage over the past but woudn't be boring to live in the past especially in an era with no electricity or computers and stuff, of course you'll get used to it quickly but still the thought that you have to change all your hobbies and life style to adapt to the periode is a real hasle isn't it
793  Other / Off-topic / Re: The United States Government has become a den full of perpetrators of terrorism, on: April 28, 2014, 10:36:28 AM
Hasn't it always been like this?

No. It has't been always like this. The turning point was the disintegration of the USSR. The Soviets neutralized any threats posed by the US and vice-versa. Right now the US is the sole super power. And that is bad news for the US citizens, as well as for other people.

No not really, and the US is not the only superpower, while indeed it is a dominant superpower, other superpower have enough to destroy the US, Russia, China, France, UK for example has the power to do such a thing, but that's not the point.

I think what makes the US a terrorist den and target is it interference with other countries affairs to gain geopolitical power (and when it can't it goes for war against said country), example Vietnam (faking the incident of the boats and waging against Vietnam), Panama (CIA coup), Iran ( removing the democratically voted regime and putting the shah), arming Iraq against Iran, arming Taliban against local government and USSR, doing shit in several central american countries, south asian countries... ... the list is too long and I can't detail everything, but people should get the picture by now. And what I mentioned here is just one part of the equation, the other part is the shit that happened inside the US, do to capitalism practive, and anticompetitive ones ect

796  Other / Off-topic / Re: A new forum - possibly on: April 28, 2014, 10:10:54 AM
I'm a relative newby here - been around for about 2 months now and to be honest I have never seen a place like this where the moderators have not stepped in to delete/suppress known scams/scammers.

The moderators seem great at moving new threads if they're in the incorrect forum but never seem to intervene when there are crooks and scammers post miners etc for sale.

My background is running forums. This past year I sold two of the largest forums on the website to a forum consolidation company. I won;t go into details but both of the forums that I ran - one I started and the other I purchased from a bankrupt company both had Alexa Rankings in the top 25,000 sites in the web.

I've been discussing with my wife getting back into the fray and starting a new site for anyone interested in Virtual Currency and the moderators would have the ability to intervene and protect unsuspecting people from scammers and also have to ability to kill posts from people introducing coins that are clearly scams, etc....

There are a lot of very knowledgable people on this forum and a lot of people who could benefit tremendously from those with knowledge.

In addition on the new forum vendors would have to clearly Identify themselves - I'm not sure how yet but anyone trying to take your money for hardware would have to submit themselves to a vetting process so you can be sure you're dealing with someone legit and if they scam someone I'd publish their IP address and everything known about them.

these are some of my thoughts and I'd like your thoughts also on a how a new forum could be better, safer, friendlier etc....

what would you folks like to see and what do you want?

I would not make  newbies wait 6 minutes between posts either because when you're new is when you have the most questions.

thanks in advance

Jeff

Hence the trust system, banning a scammer will just make him come back under another label using a different IP, having a trust system make me know which better that you can you trust a little more than other and the one to be cautious with

798  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best place to build the Bitcoin island in the international waters on: April 28, 2014, 05:57:08 AM
also according to the the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea the island needs to be a minimum of 200 nautical miles away from any other administrated land if you want to create your own island which makes everything complex including the zone you've mentioned Sad

Saya de Malha is located in the International waters, i.e 200 nautical miles away from any other administrated land.

Not all of it I think, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't like 180 miles away from some Maurice island (part of it of course as the thing is huge), and some part is considered as a free trade zone by some country I've seen these informations somewhere, also according to the first map you've posted the Saya de Malha is included in the light blue zone or at least a big portion of it isn't, I'll post them later once I'll find the sources
799  Other / Off-topic / Re: Grammar 101.. on: April 28, 2014, 05:52:01 AM

English grammar is so easy compared to French.

Is that the reason why you've already made a grammar mistake? Cheesy

What is the mistake?
I put "English grammar is so easy compared to French" into msWord and there is no indication of a grammar issue.

800  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best place to build the Bitcoin island in the international waters on: April 28, 2014, 05:47:48 AM
I think a floating bitcoin island is our best option. We can place it on international waters and we don't have to think about deepness. I think the price would be also be alot cheaper and we can built it right away. I think floating bitcoin island is closer to reality than a permanent bitcoin island.

No. This thread is dedicated for a permanent island, not a floating island. You are welcome to start another thread if you are interested in the project. As far as I know, it is impossible to create a continuous floating structure stretching for 10 sq.kms.

I'm pretty sure it says, bitcoin island in international waters no mention of the type of the island if you did specify such a thing no one would have proposed from the beginning -.-(remember it's a theoretical discussion no more no less )..... and it is as impossible to build a 10sq km island as it is with building an fixed island in international waters in fact is is technically more challenging to build a non floating island in the open seas conditions

also according to the the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea the island needs to be a minimum of 200 nautical miles away from any other administrated land if you want to create your own island which makes everything complex including the zone you've mentioned Sad
