7921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining gold also costs (much) energy - VIDEO: The Deepest Mine In The World on: August 23, 2017, 11:01:40 PM
gold is what makes fiat valuable
Fiat is no longer backed by gold, nor does even gold have as much of an intrinsic value as what we now pay for it.

Gold mining and BTC are similar in that mining groups are incentivised to spend different amounts of resources on mining based on the price of the asset.  If a gold mining group estimates how much gold is in a specific area, they have to figure out whether they can make a profit with the resources they spend on mining it.  BTC is much the same.
Bitcoin uses the energy of a city with 250k-500k citizens perhaps
Actually, BTC's estimated energy consumption is similar to that of Croatia and Tunisia. It covers several million people.
less than what use Visa/Mastercard together
As you can see from the article I posted, that's arguably untrue.  And we're talking about total consumption here, even though Visa process hundreds of times more transactions than BTC on a daily basis.

Croatia and Tunisia are not "big fans" of electricity consumption, I mean they don't consume a lot. To compare Switzerland consumes double than what  Tunisia and Croatia do together. And don't forget Switzerland is a quite small country (here)
In the article, it says that the energy consumption of VISA offices isn’t included, but there are more than that to consider. For example the transport of workers, the petrol used, the paper and so on, we could make a huge list. But I admit in case everything was considered it would be still less than Bitcoin
7922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people left their full-time employment to go into Bitcoin? on: August 23, 2017, 10:24:18 PM
When you have a job, you pay taxes for your future retirement, with Bitcoin, you don't. Let's say you go to make your money with Bitcoin for 20 years, what you will get when the time of your retirement will come? Peanuts, you will belong to the class below the poverty line...
The same with social insurance, etc. If you work for a company related to Bitcoin that's fine, otherwise, your "job" is at risk daily if I can say. When you have a family with children, you can't take such risks
7923  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: WITHDRAWAL Processing!!! on: August 23, 2017, 09:19:45 PM
I am sorry to tell you that unfortunately you  have been scammed. The website look very unprofessional at a first look so I don't know what make you decided to invest some bucks in. As well you can see the last withdrawal in on Augut 16.

7924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WeiMixer - Ethereum Mixing Service on: August 23, 2017, 08:41:30 PM
Are you the first Ethereum Mixing Service? Because it is the first time I see one. If you're the first then I can say you have a huge potential with WeiMixer. The only thing is your site needs more content. Don't take it wrong, as myself I like simple websites that go straight to the point. But others may find suspicious.
Wishing you good luck with your project Smiley
7925  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Coinbase ignored to solve problem & return money on: August 23, 2017, 08:20:55 PM
Coinbase is the worst place to have a problem and hoping to see it resolved. I don't know if they have topic on Reddit, you can try to post there, or in their own forum. Sometime Reddit and Twitter are good to get attention faster than support tickets

7928  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Debit Card for crypto withdrawals in € on: August 22, 2017, 05:05:03 PM
Yes there are very limited cards for the countries like European and Asian. All the offerings are only for US countries this might be because all the projects that are funded by ICO are coming from the US only. Anyway there are few other cards which supports worldwide development and I think TenX is one of them. They have worldwide shipping and can be used with fees as much as 2.5 %. That's the major disadvantages for these cards and the fees can not be affordable for long term use. Rest is upto us how to use it.

Obviously, you don't own any of those cards and you never searched about it. You are saying everything wrong. So No all those cards are not only for US citizens, in fact, 99% of those services accept most of the Europeans countries (if not 100% of EU).
What is the shit are you talking with ICOs? The Bitcoin debit cards have nothing related with ICOs

@OP There are lot of debit cards, but if you are looking for other than Bitcoin, and be able to use altcoins, you can take a look at Bitwala, they were/are in a partnership with ShapShift
7929  Other / Off-topic / Re: My Story about my life and Bitcoin (ends badly) on: August 21, 2017, 03:45:23 PM
What ? Did you go to a judge several times, because your parents were not ok to let you gamble some money?  (money that surely not comes from your pocket) This is really out of respect for your parents. You say you are trying to live alone with trading as your source of income while you are 18-19-20? Come back to earth man, stay with your parents, go to school and stop dreaming.
Sorry to be rude but face the reality.
7930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining gold also costs (much) energy - VIDEO: The Deepest Mine In The World on: August 21, 2017, 03:24:47 PM
The difference is Bitcoin is not abusing children like Gold extraction companies do for mining. Bitcoin doesn't use the poverty for its own benefits. There are thousands and thousands of children who don't have access to an education system because it is more important to make cents daily for their family instead of going to school... Even if the school is free. You won't see a 10 years old kids trying to set miners in a farm mining.

Wanna talk about ecology? Because mining gold is one of one the most polluting industries where the Mercure is used at an industrial level and thrown into the rivers without shame. Yes, you will say Bitcoin use a lot of electricity and this and that. Bitcoin uses the energy of a city with 250k-500k citizens perhaps, which is very very less than the traditional banking system, or let says less than what use Visa/Mastercard together

The funny thing is one of the investor company at transferwise.com is also an investor at Blockstream
@HostFat have you tried to transfer from transferwise.com to your bank account successfully? Without verification ID? Their limit look pretty high before they ask ID document
7933  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Is Faucet a waste of time? Y/N on: August 20, 2017, 11:14:41 AM
+1 I agree with the guys, faucets are such a waste of time that I still wonder why people are still collecting pennies spending several hours to fill captcha and getting paid ~0.001 per captcha. 1$ per 1000 Cheesy Deduce the electricity cost after that.
7934  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Does anyone know why Kraken has been down for so long? on: August 19, 2017, 08:38:43 PM

Le site à l'air de revenir (petit a petit). Je suis étonné de n'avoir rien vu, aucune mise a jour de leur part sur leur compte supportkraken.
Perso je commence a la sentir mauvaise
7938  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: SMS messages with Bitcoin on: August 19, 2017, 12:20:58 PM
For some countries, it will be useless. For example, in my country (Europe), it's free and unlimited with all the major contracts. I am charged 3€ per month for unlimited calls, unlimited SMS, 50 Go data. So why should I pay to send SMS and paying in Bitcoin? This situation is like with a lot of countries with the low-cost contract now.
It's surely why the project you mentioned about is abandoned since
7939  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken site down since hours on: August 19, 2017, 12:12:19 PM
Same here, Yesterday before going to sleep, the site was so fucking low it was really hard to use. Today I can't log in anymore. It"s weird that when you try to login you get a 404 error message but the URL is https://kraken.com/500. with a message telling how great and trusted they are bla bla bla. Someone mentioned a DDOS, but I don't buy this story. Look at their twitter accounts. No news, they never posted something since this incident started..

@memberx it works only a few seconds every hour
