81  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Has Anyone Used This Crypto Recovery Service? on: April 27, 2024, 10:03:27 PM
I completely understand this now. If there were services that were able to hack into the scammer's account and get the money - then they would hack into everyone's account.
It is not possible to just hack into anyone's account and recover/steal their coins; the victims have to make a mistake and be loose on their security, before they can possibly be hacked. Anyone who is promising you that they can recover your lost coins is a scammer, Bitcoin transactions cannot be reversed and your best chance is to report the case to the authorities, though in most cases they cannot also be of help to you and can only try if it is a large amount you lost.
82  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: After the dip in crypto, when are we expecting ath? on: April 27, 2024, 09:44:01 AM
AFAIK, the All time high of Bitcoin can be expected after the Bitcoin halving and as you can see, Bitcoin halving just happened  some days ago.
The thing here is that OP never explicitly said they bought Bitcoin, look what OP said:
Quote
I had interest and decided to buy some coins.
So it is possible OP never bought Bitcoin and in my last post i asked OP what coins they bought, but no reply yet. Some people hear about Bitcoin and its halving and start buying so many altcoins, i am guessing that is what OP did here and they would have to be extremely lucky to get ROI, depending on the altcoins they bought.
83  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: After the dip in crypto, when are we expecting ath? on: April 26, 2024, 11:35:17 PM
I have been watching my coins dropping everyday in value thereby inducing fear in me as the value of what I invested has been on the continuous decline.
I do not know how soon they will begin to rise again.
What coins did you buy, you did not mention the coins you bought, neither did you say you bought bitcoins. So i am guessing you bought some altcoins, and because altcoins have no actual utility, you'd be luckly to get any sort of ROI on them. That being said, if Bitcoin is part of your portfolio, then you have to be patient, if you were told it's a get rich quick scheme, then you have been lied to, hodl your coins and if possible buy more when there is a dip in price.
84  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: After Binance: BYBIT and BITGET. on: April 26, 2024, 09:43:21 PM
The government cant even try it, even this one they have attempted on binance was because its the number one most leading cryptocurrency exchange,
Of course them fit do am, they have the power to clampdown on every cryptocurrency exchange in Nigeria, but even they know that they would be deceiving themselves at that point. They know cryptocurrency exchanges are not to blame for the depreciation of the Naira and that was basically the true value of the Naira. What the government has just done is use manipulation/force to make the Naira appreciate against the dollar, but it can only be temporary and soon again we'll see the true value of the Naira surface again.
85  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your favourite exchange can be nowhere to be found on: April 26, 2024, 09:22:32 PM
mempool should not be a reason to choose exchange to keep bitcoin over good non custodialwallet
I second this, nothing should make one keep their assets in a centralized exchange, if you do not want to trade it, then don't send it into a centralized exchange. It is common for people to say they have had their funds in a custodial service for a long time and they are yet to lose it, but they forget that it does not mean the assets are safe and it only takes a blink of an eye for the exchange to halt withdrawals and file for bankruptcy.
86  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: UTXOs and Bitcointalks's Signature Campaigns on: April 26, 2024, 01:47:33 PM
Is there any fix or solution to this?
This is not a forum problem, but one for the campaign manager and their participants, they can agree to collect payments monthly or bi-weekly, but it has nothing to do with the forum per se or its administrators.
The only thing I can imagine is that Bitcointalk.org offers an escrow service of some kind where users are sent coins directly as transfers on the forum, similar to the sMerit system, but they can be withdrawn at a certain amount.
I don't really understand what you are trying to say here, firstly, the forum in itself does not offer escrow services and how do you send Bitcoin in a way that is similar to the merit system? Bitcointalk does not pay users on this forum, it is corporations that run campaigns here, that pays people who advertise their service, so it is up to their campaign managers to decide what is best for business and also those "hired".
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: altcoin season on: April 25, 2024, 08:37:14 PM
If you really want to make money in the next bullrun, i think these gems can make you alot of money!
You cannot be sure of that, you cannot be sure of anything in crypto, especially with altcoins. I don't know much about these coins and it might be possible to make money with one or two of them, but i would bet the chances of losing money is higher. My opinion of investing in new altcoins is to wait until the price starts to rise and do not buy too much of them, if you buy too many coins when the price is low, then your gamble might not pay off with all of them and you'd lose quite a lot of money.
88  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You are responsible for your own safety. on: April 25, 2024, 07:58:08 PM
However I wish they can put an end to that I will be the most happiest person ever.
I don't think it is possible for them to completely eradicate scam/phishing applications being published in their platform, they can scrutinize things better and be more stringent with things anyway. Don't wait for google to help you, do what's best for your own security, download stuffs only from their original website and be very cautious if you must download from either playstore or apps store.
89  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Local Board Moderator; Your honest feedback here. on: April 25, 2024, 03:10:39 PM
Goodluck bro, the local board needs a local moderator, just the same way it needs a few child boards. I don't know if Theymos is ready to give us our own local moderator yet or if you have had discussions with him privately about it, nonetheless, you'd make a good local board moderator if he decides to choose one, and there are one or two other Nigerians that are also fit for the role, if they are interested of course.
90  Other / Meta / Re: Topics on reputation board should not have lock feature on: April 25, 2024, 01:38:52 PM
This isn't enough to disable the lock feature in the reputation board.

I would be surprised if anyone is going to reach a conclusion about a particular user, based only on the information they found in a locked thread. They can basically check the trust feedback of the user who was accused wrongly and that of the user who made the post, and if still in doubt, they can create a new topic and ask questions.

The lock function is so important, when the discussion in a thread is over or an issue is solved, it should be locked and buried under the new topics.
91  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You are responsible for your own safety. on: April 25, 2024, 01:26:43 PM
Are they trying to look like the good guys now?
They prolly are, but it changes nothing in the grand scheme of things. Google playstore and Apple's appstore is not safe to download your crypto wallets or any crypto tool, it is very possible to download a phishing application that will lure you to input your seed phrase and lose your money.

If they are suing crypto scammers now, then good a thing, but they should also be stricter in their policy of publishing applications in their platforms, this would not mean it becomes safe to use, but it would make things safer for people who are hell bent on always using their platforms.
92  Economy / Speculation / Re: When do we really note it for Bitcoin ATH on: April 24, 2024, 10:41:58 PM
OP this is not rocket science and there is no need for you to try to bring in any extra meaning or anything of that sort, Bitcoin's highest ever price at a particular time is its all time high. If the price rises and breaks the previous ATH, a new one is set and so on, and we could prolly see an ATH as high as $100k this year, or even more.
93  Economy / Economics / Re: World price tag on every product. on: April 24, 2024, 10:15:43 PM
Lol, all the countries in the world should also have the same minimum wage, use the same currency and experience the same economic growth, for this to happen. The prices of goods cannot be the same in all countries, for example, how do you compare the standard of living in the United States, to that of a third world country, and how can goods be valued in the same way in both countries, it is basically impossible.

That being said, if it is a foreign product, and you want to purchase it directly from abroad, then you have to pay using the currency of the country where the goods was produced, or its equivalent.
94  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Make sure say u no de waste BTC 4 fees way 2 high– step by step guide (Electrum) on: April 24, 2024, 08:39:40 PM
Omo no be only you dey think about towards that direction oh, Omo me na victim of this high fee at the moment oh, and the bad part be say e don even take more days for my transaction way i initiate for the blocks to complete upon high fee way I pay oh, which is very usually for my side.
How many sats/vbyte wey you add to your transaction? As things be now ehn, if you used anything less than 70 sat/vbyte, then no hope for your transaction to be confirmed and you just have to wait. Another thing wey you fit do na to try to use ViaBTC free accelerator, but that one na if your transaction meet their requirement. ViaBTC dey help Bitcoin users by accelerating 20 transactions every hour, so if you dey lucky, you fit be one of the people wey dem go accelerate im transaction.
95  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto's last message on: April 24, 2024, 07:52:54 PM
why then did he decided to move on to other things instead of focusing more on the Bitcoin project to make sure that he also took part in achieving the adoption of this digital currency?
Satoshi created Bitcoin in such a way that the network no longer needed him, he played his own part before he left this decentralized network. I don't see anything "unfortunate" in what Satoshi did, he created a p2p cash system for people who wanted to control their finances, and made it in such a way that it is the community itself that makes its own decision and not the creator or any central authority. Satoshi may be dead by now, or maybe he did move to develop another project, whichever it is, he has already done so much for lovers of decentralization.
96  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seed phrase backup against natural disaster areas on: April 24, 2024, 07:07:17 PM
this is what i do now. i store several parts of my seed phrases in 3 online storage platforms, and i put a number on each part to prevent confusion when putting them together. i think this is one safe way to store your seed phrases and it's much easier than having to write them down on paper and store them somewhere else.
As long as it is online, you can be hacked and your assets will be stolen by the attacker, what online storage platforms are you talking about, and are these storage platforms in the same device. If you are putting together your own pattern of security, then mind you that you are inviting trouble, there is no safer way than writing down your seed phrase on paper or carving it on a steel plate.
97  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Make sure say u no de waste BTC 4 fees way 2 high– step by step guide (Electrum) on: April 23, 2024, 07:32:15 PM
Fees are still too uneconomical right now. I think I will be making used of altcoins for the mean time.
As things be now, na wetin most people dey do, runes don make transaction fee rise like mad and if you wan send coins via the Bitcoin network now, the fees wey you go pay go dey excessive. Wetin dey pain me be say, e go hard make you tell person about Bitcoin right now, because even if the person decides to use Bitcoin, how dem go take buy am as fees cost like this, the matter tire me wella.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is SAFE really safe ?? on: April 23, 2024, 06:56:41 PM
So, is it really safe? That's the question many are asking including myself before throwing in funds, tho With their track record and endorsements am still thinking about it..

So you guys think SAFE should be considered safe ?
You ask if SAFE is safe, and then you go on to tell us so much about it, that it almost sounds like you are subtly promoting it. Without even doing any research on this, i would not throw money on a coin like this, and the name also sounds ridiculous. 'Safe' is when you buy a coin that has an actual utility, is sustainable for the long term and has a real community around it, if you continue purchasing numerous new coins/tokens, you'll be losing your hard earned money to them.
99  Economy / Reputation / Re: BitcoinGirl.Club: How a condescending attitude equates to trust exclusion on: April 23, 2024, 01:35:06 PM
So, should icopress be banned for promoting mixers? I don't think that will happen because famous members won't get banned easily. The rules here only apply to ordinary and low-ranking members.
Theymos only recently changed his mind about jambler, and stated it would be treated as a mixer from the 22nd of this month, and the campaign stopped a week or so before then. So what should the ban be for?
100  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to properly report a post to the moderators? on: April 23, 2024, 01:21:15 PM
Or if someone is trying to buy-sell merits, do you write "merit abusers" and report it?
I just want to bring up this part of your post. when it comes to buying/selling merits or merit abusers, I think a thread is more appropriate since the person who is buying or selling merits needs to be negatively tagged and preferably by a DT member...
Nobody is even going to make a topic that they are selling merits, so there are no such topics for you to report to the moderator. Merit abuse is very difficult to prove on the forum, and unless you have concrete evidence, it is better not to make a thread falsely accusing users of merit abuse.

If merit abuse involves a merit source, then it is a bigger case and if proven the admin would remove the user from that position and they will be tagged, but if it involves a non-merit source, too many users won't even be interested.
