921  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Short holder and long holder who profit most? on: August 01, 2023, 09:07:06 PM
E get people wey dey hodl some altcoins since 2017-2018, but as e be so, now the coins dey useless and the person no even fit sell am because you no go fit trade am for any exchange, them dey call people wey dey hodl this kind coin bagholders. Thus you don see am say no be by how long you take dey hodl the coin, but na which coin you dey hodl.

If you dey hodl Bitcoin, then na long term make sense pass because Bitcoin get better utility, so long term go bring better ROI, but if it is altcoins wey you dey hodl, you no suppose too hodl am for long oh, dem no dey too get utility, so if you dey hodl altcoin and you don get ROI, just rush go sell am before e dump.

923  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Dgfinex. Scam exchange. Ask you to send 50% of deposit value to withdraw. Avoid on: August 01, 2023, 11:25:33 AM
If the story is true, she had $10.000 to waste but no time to make even the most basic of research to find 50 other exchanges where this wouldn't have happened. And then she considered borrowing an additional $5k they asked to "allow" her to withdraw the funds. Amazing.
It is easy for us with knowledge to know the right thing to do, and i must confess that if i held Bitcoin without knowing about this forum, i would have made quite a lot of mistakes, so the thing is, so many people lack knowledge of Bitcoin/crypto. I was having a chat with a distant friend the other day, and he told me how he bought Bitcoins recently and kept them in his electrum wallet, and then i asked him if he kept his seed phrase in a safe place, and he said "not really", that he thought it is impossible for someone to steal his coins without having access to the wallet file in his device.
Sometimes you will wonder how greedy and how newbies' minds work despite of so many red flags there are, the worst case is they will always ask if the site is scam or not after depositing a huge  (although "huge" is debatable depends on the victim's status) money into it.
The case in the OP isn't about greed/avarice, it is basically just a lack of knowledge, cases of avarice is when people fall for Bitcoin doubling scams, trading platforms that promise unrealistic ROI, buying fake wallet files/wallet.dat, etc.

Arsenal is exploring the possibility of signing another goal keeper in Brentford number one shot stopper David Raya who's contract will be expiring next year, and the player is not looking forward to staying at the club.He wants to play in a big team
Even if David Raya's dream is to play for a big club, he has to be careful with the move he makes, Arsenal are a big club, but they already have a number 1 goalkeeper in Aaron Ramsdale and i don't think Arteta is ready to drop him, thus even if David Raya moves to a big club like Arsenal, he is going to be a makeshift goalkeeper and would prolly only play in Carabao and Fa Cup games. I don't think that's what David Raya will want for his career now, he is a brilliant goalkeeper and if he isn't assured of a starting position in a team that wants to buy him, then i think he should be patient and remain in Brentford.
925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: July 31, 2023, 10:12:48 PM
I believe Haaland will not be alone on the top scorer board next season, it will always be a struggle between several other top strikers such as Hary Kane, Rashford, Mohamed Salah and several others. Of course it will be very interesting to see who will be in the top board next season among the strikers mentioned, but I think Haaland has a good chance of repeating that.
Erling Haaland is the top favorite again to become the highest goal scorer next season in the EPL, his chances are higher because he is a very prolific striker and he is complemented by a brilliant club like Manchester City which is the best team in England and Europe. Harry Kane scored a lot of goals last season and should have been the highest goal scorer if not for Haaland, if he stays in Spurs, i expect him to score many goals as he always does, but not more than Erling Haaland.

Chelsea are planning to make things more heated for signing Mbappe. They are thinking of joining the race seriously soon. However their offer is rumoured to be a cash plus player kind of one. But PSG are really desperate to sell him as long as they get a reasonable offer. They would accept Chelsea's offer if they don't keep the cash at a low level.
Mbappe would refuse to speak/negotiate with Chelsea, like he did to the Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal that wanted to sign him, even though PSG had already agreed the fee that Al Hilal brought to the table. I mean, Chelsea are not even in the CL, and it does not seem that Mbappe would want to play for Chelsea, even if it is a loan deal. Mbappe is making things very hard for PSG, even if they agree on a fee with another club, there is no guarantee that Mbappe will agree to negotiate with the club.

I think Mbappe is ready to stay in PSG for this season notwithstanding whatever is to come and the treatment he will get, he has decided to move to Real Madrid, thus it is either they come and buy him this summer or he stays in PSG and joins them next summer for free.
927  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whats your faw indicator explaining BTC price up or down ? on: July 31, 2023, 10:10:30 AM
In short, it is still supply and demand, if there is more demand for Bitcoin and more people are buying than they are selling, then the price of Bitcoin is going to rise, but if it is the reverse and there are more sellers than buyers, price is going to drop.

Having said that, what influences people to either buy or sell is mostly external factors, for example if people read a positive news about Bitcoin, this can make them buy more Bitcoin, but if the news is negative, they might panic and sell. Mind you that even if you have a particular indicator, it might not always be accurate, though there are some obvious reasons/factors like halving that can make Bitcoin price to rise.
928  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What altcoins do you think are currently still cheap but have good potential for on: July 30, 2023, 09:21:59 PM
When looking for altcoins with good potential, consider factors like the project's technology, use case, team, and community support. Diversify your investment portfolio and only invest what you can afford to lose. Avoid chasing quick gains and focus on projects with solid fundamentals
It is pretty difficult to find Altcoins with an actual utility or use case, an Altcoin might have a team that seems good and due to hype they might have a small community of supporters, but it does not mean that the Altcoin is good. It is quite risky to diversify amongst different Altcoins, especialy the new ones, because they might all fail. I think it is safe to buy more of Bitcoins and Altcoins should take only a small portion of your portfolio.
929  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: July 30, 2023, 08:20:18 PM
PSG and Liverpool are said to be in talks for Mbappe to play the last year of his contract at Liverpool on loan. But I do not understand how they can interest him in such an option. Liverpool isn't even in the Champions League. As we saw with the rejected proposal from the Saudis, Mbappe is no longer simply lured with money.
It is not as if Mbappe is not lured by money, of course money plays an important role in how footballers make decisions regarding their career. Mbappe was never going to move to Saudi Arabia because he is very young and one of the best players in the world, he is also already one of the highest paid footballers in the world in PSG and he also earns a huge amount in loyalty bonuses.

Liverpool can't even afford to pay Mbappe's wages for one year, thus there is no chance in hell that he is going to Anfield, Mbappe is either staying in PSG or moving to Real Madrid, i don't think there are any other feasible options.
930  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What happens if all forum users exhaust their Smerits? on: July 30, 2023, 05:45:50 PM
So there are 100+ people who get almost 33,000+ Merit every month which is almost 311 sMerit per person.
Merit sources do not get equal allocation of Smerits per 30 days, it differs per merit source, some get more whilst others get less, thus your calculation of Smerit allocation per person is not accurate.
That assures that merit will never be exhausted on this forum unless these 109 people stop accessing the forum and the sMerit(s) for others get's exhausted.
Exactly, and if hypothetically this happens Theymos will basically just appoint new merit sources and allocate them Smerits for the system to continue, the point is that Smerits can't run out because it is easy for the admin to generate it how they like.
931  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Dgfinex. Scam exchange. Ask you to send 50% of deposit value to withdraw. Avoid on: July 30, 2023, 02:42:53 PM
I think this thread might be better in the scam accusation board
It is pertinent to bookmark the original website you visit, so you don't get redirected to a scam website when you try to always type it in your browser. It is also important to be very careful with exchanges, wallets and general crypto stuffs, because of the possbility of hiding ones identity in the crypto industry, there are so many scammers out there looking for easy victims.

Having said that, these scam exchanges have different modus operandi, some wait for the perfect time to rug-pull, but others like the one in the op is pretty obvious immediately after depositing, because why in God's name would i have to deposit 50% of my initial deposit in order to withdraw it, it should be clear to anyone that it is a scam.
932  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What happens if all forum users exhaust their Smerits? on: July 30, 2023, 02:25:07 PM
This is a non-issue, Smerits isn't like Bitcoin that has a capped supply, Tongue Smerits can be generated by the admin anytime he wants to do it and he can distribute it anyhow he decides to. When the merit system was introduced, it was even airdropped to users based on just their activity, thus the forum can't run out of Smerits because it is easy for Theymos to create them. That aside anyway, there are merit sources whom Theymos allocates Smerits to per 30 days, and there is no dearth of quality posts in the forum, as such the merit system is still functioning as it should and it is going to continue in that way.
933  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: apps for bitcoin security? on: July 29, 2023, 11:50:14 PM
Exactly. For me installing apps are not necessary anymore as long as you’re knowledgeable enough not to put your bitcoin at any centralized exchange at an indefinite time. Have your own non-custodial wallet and let your bitcoin sleep there for long. And be responsible enough not to disclose any of your seed phrase because once you lost it, your bitcoin will be put at high risk.
If you're going to 'let your Bitcoins sleep in your wallet', then you better ensure that the wallet is an offline/cold wallet, it is great if you don't use an exchange wallet, but instead you use a non-custodial wallet, but if the wallet is online it can be hacked, that is why the wallet should be offline in a hardware wallet.
Sometimes I wonder why people need to visit random websites where they might see some ads and get attracted to them.
Because it is inevitable for people to surf the internet, but it is also imperative that they surf the internet on a different device from the one they use for crypto activities.
934  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Little knowledge and understanding navigating bitcoin transaction fees - Help me on: July 28, 2023, 07:44:58 PM
Make transactions when there is no too many people trying to transact at the time. Best time should be in the night or very early hours of the day when the network does not have many people on it.
There is no way to know exactly when too many people are trying to make transactions on the Bitcoin network, and countries and regions have different time zones. The appropriate way to minimize transaction fees is to consolidate your inputs and also to use segwit addresses.
935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: July 28, 2023, 03:28:27 PM
I think this transfer step will bring Arsenal to the level of success next season, although on the other hand the dominance of Man City, Liverpool, Man United and Chelsea will make their steps difficult.
The EPL is very competitive and the top clubs are making very good signings to ensure that they remain competitive and challenge for trophies, the transfer window closes in a month or so, thus there is still time for more signings, so right now it isn't possible to know the team that is going to make the most out of the transfer window, but for now i am impressed with how well Arsenal have conducted their transfer business.

Having said that, City are the favorites to win the EPL again next season, but i am pretty sure that it is going to be a tougher campaign for them, teams like Chelsea and Liverpool that were bad last season will be stronger in this new season, so it will be more difficult overall.
936  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Little knowledge and understanding navigating bitcoin transaction fees - Help me on: July 28, 2023, 02:50:21 PM
Op, if you want to make a transaction from your wallet to the exchange or withdraw from the exchange to your wallet make sure you choose the same type of Bitcoin wallet. some exchanges seem to have the option to change the Bitcoin address according to the type you are using. maybe it can reduce the fees you have to pay. but maybe it helps your transaction to be faster.
If you are withdrawing from an exchange to your Bitcoin wallet, it is the exchange that charges you fees for withdrawal, you do not pay the fees directly to the miners, it is the exchange that combines all the withdrawals they want to process at that time into one transaction, thus you can't adjust the fees in that situation. But if you are sending from your own personal wallet into an exchange address, you can adjust/customize the fees. Mind you that the only way to make your transaction faster if you are making the transaction from your own personal wallet is to pay a higher fee.
937  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: July 28, 2023, 11:35:06 AM
If Manchester City sell Bernardo Silva, it will be very risky for them. An experienced coach like Guardiola does not take such risks. Because Manchester City's midfielder, one of the most important players, İlkay Gündoğan has left the team. Now if Manchester City sells Silva too then Manchester City will have to rely solely on Kevin de Bruyne to stabilize the midfield next season. And if de Bruyne doesn't play well, Manchester City's overall performance will suffer. This is why Guardiola needs Bernardo Silva so much next season.
Bernado Silva is one of the best players in Manchester City, but mind you that Pep Guardiola is famous for not standing in the way of players that make known their intentions to leave the club, so if Bernado Silva has decided to leave City, Pep wouldn't stop him. City have already signed a midfielder this summer in Kovacic, though he isn't a direct replacement for Bernado Silva, but he is going to bolster City's midfield. I don't think Bernado Silva is going to leave City, but if he does they'll find a replacement for him and City would still be very strong to compete for all trophies.
938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 28, 2023, 08:41:50 AM
Let's see how far Chelsea will go for the player. I feel bit over 80m maybe like 85-87m should be enough for a Brighton "Yes".
Their last bid of around £80m was rejected by Brighton, and that's what i don't really understand, i mean, Caicedo has only played one good season for Brighton, and now the club feels he is worth more than £80m, that's absolutely ridiculous. Brighton did a similar thing when City wanted to sign Cucurella from them last summer, City pulled out of the deal and Chelsea went on to sign the defender for over £60m, and he was a complete flop last season.

I don't know if Chelsea are ready to leave the Caicedo deal and go for other options that won't cost them this much, but i think that is what they have to do, Caicedo is being overvalued and it is ridiculous.
939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 27, 2023, 09:52:49 PM
@David_Ornstein
🚨 Chelsea’s 4th Moises Caicedo proposal to be turned down by Brighton was £75m + £5m add-ons. #BHAFC do not want to sell despite midfielder’s wish to go. #CFC also considering alternative options, including #LFC target Romeo Lavia @TheAthleticFC #SaintsFC
The transfer market is now absolutely ridiculous, every club now overvalues their players just to make more money from the team that wants to sign them. Caicedo is a brilliant player, but i don't know why Brighton are still holding on to him when the player has made his intentions to leave known to them, they ought to take the money Chelsea is offering and use it to buy a couple of players that won't cost them too much money. I think Brighton are being greedy here (considering how much they signed Caicedo), and i think it is wise if Chelsea pull out of the deal and look for other alternatives.
940  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: July 27, 2023, 07:36:54 PM
If Bayern want maybe it's better for him to go to Bayern Munich. As long as you can still compete in Europe, it's better to keep playing there. Although maybe the salary received is not as big as in Saudi Arabia. Maybe at 35 years old he can go there. At least he will still be valuable and have the best stamina for the Saudi Arabian League. But Pep can keep it up, this is in preparation for a hectic schedule.
Of course Bayern Munich wants Kyle Walker, he is one of their main targets and according to legitimate sources, Bayern Munich have made a proposal to Kyle Walker (though i don't think there's been any negotiations with City of yet). Manchester City are also interested in keeping Kyle Walker, though i don't think he is going to start too many games for them, but he will be important for them in certain matches (as he was last season). I don't think there is any chance of Kyle Walker going to Saudi Arabia, from what i think, it is either he signs a new contract with City or moves to the German champions.
