101  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do not forget your Bitcointalk account password!!! on: April 20, 2024, 10:33:21 PM
I would suggest continuing to remember the passwords that we have, when using your passwords regularly so that your memory of the passwords becomes stronger and you won't be afraid of losing your passwords if you format your laptop or PC accidentally.
An average person who uses the internet has a lot of accounts and all these accounts require that you set a password, how do you remember it all, and if you are using the same password across different accounts, you are doing it wrongly and run the risk of being hacked in different platforms all at once. Do not try to memorize passwords, use a good password manager or you just write down whatever password you set.
102  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Do you not think those land borders should be opened again on: April 20, 2024, 08:07:28 PM
I believe the whole idea of this was to actually give our local production house a boost of confidence
Come to think about it ehn, i no think say government gats close our land borders to help local production, they can support local producers and leave the borders open for competition. Wetin i believe be say competition dey help businesses to grow and improve and e dey also help to control the prices of goods, so whatever we go dey import through our land borders, we go also dey produce locally, leaving the market open for competition.
103  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Make sure to avoid wasting BTC for too high fees – step by step guide (Electrum) on: April 20, 2024, 06:49:47 PM
I assume that most will just avoid buying bitcoin but the worst part of it is the damage that it does to the overall adoption of it.
That's correct, even people who have been in the network for many years cannot make transactions on the network right now because of how high transaction fee is, now think about a newcomer, it is enough reason for them to lose any interest they have in Bitcoin. I am pretty sure the fees would drop after sometime, so it is essential for us to tell newbies that transaction fees would not stay permanently high, when the congestion lessens and the spammers go away, fees would become affordable again.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will altcoins ever cheap again? on: April 20, 2024, 03:23:57 PM
So what do you think? Will altcoins ever cheap again? Or you are buying overprice altcoins?
There are so many altcoins in the market, so you have to be specific on the altcoins you are talking about, there are quite a lot of altcoins that are cheap and some more established coins that cost more. That being said, you shouldn't be looking at only the price when you want to buy altcoins, what should concern you is its utility and long term sustainability, and not its price.

Though during altcoin season new projects can pump very high and if you want to gamble, you can buy a few of them irrespective of their utility and see if you'd be lucky on some.
105  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Do you not think those land borders should be opened again on: April 19, 2024, 10:53:09 PM
From wetin me i understand, the purposes wey make our government shut the borders no dey work, dem shut down the border for security and economic reasons, them been wan stop people from smuggling arms and weapons into Nigeria through the borders, and them been wan stimulate local production. But as Naija dey now, insecurity and economic hardship still dey.

E get one big problem wey our leaders dey get, and it is that dem no dey gree say their policy don fail, dem go still stick to am. I believe say every good leader suppose to dey flexible in correcting their mistakes and that includes reversing a policy that is failing and causing hardship to people, rather than stick to it and promising them future gains, which we are never sure of in this country.
106  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where best to enjoy this forum... on: April 19, 2024, 10:24:26 PM
I've browsed the forum from my mobile device for a very long time now, and at this point i am so used to it that i can't really complain of anything, even though i must admit that it was not all "fun" from the beginning. We have been waiting for the new forum software for ages now, it is expected to have a mobile version, but you'd get used to using the forum from your mobile this way, sooner than we'd get the new forum software (if ever Grin).
107  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Advantages of Bitcoin halving on: April 19, 2024, 06:02:42 PM
If person wan sell their coins when Bitcoin halving dey very close, because dem wan put the money for altcoins, then dem no really know wetin dem dey do. Hodling Bitcoin as halving dey very close is a no-brainer and anybody wey don experience past halvings go make sure say dem hodl their coins. This year fit even bring something wey dey unprecedented as Bitcoin spot etf's were approved in the United states, so coupled with Bitcoin halving wey go soon happen, the price suppose pump very high, but make we see wetin go happen.
108  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Benefit of non additional charge on: April 19, 2024, 05:26:59 PM
Additional transaction fees may not be much of a problem for those who have a large amount of investment, but for small investors or mid-level investors, additional transaction fees are a problem.
There is nothing like "additional transaction fees" for sending Bitcoin on-chain, additional transaction fees sounds like there are extra fees or charges when you send Bitcoin on-chain. What you pay is transaction fees and it can vary for a few reasons, if the mempool is clogged like it is now, you are going to pay a higher fee, and your inputs as well as your address type can also increase or decrease fees you're going to pay.
109  Other / Meta / Re: Why is merit not common on trading discussion board on: April 19, 2024, 04:29:52 PM
maybe if Theymos should later consider adding more sources, it may help with the circulation as expected.
More merit sources would increase merit circulation, but i read in one user's merit source application topic that Theymos is not considering adding any new merit sources, so this is not an option right now.
When talking about the trading board not getting enough merit, there are also other boards that get few or no merit so I assume it is just lack of quality discussions in those sections.
That is your own subjective believe and that of others who think the same way. If there are good posters who post there, they would definitely be asking the same question OP is doing, even though i don't think it is going to yield anything.
110  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Person wey get money no fit spray the money again? on: April 18, 2024, 09:33:22 PM
Cubana Chief Priest was bailed with ₦10 million with 2 sureties. A court case that will lead to ₦5000 fine supposed not to lead to ₦10 million bail I think. This is Nigeria.
Lol, yes, i think the whole bail conditions is stringent to make sure say the defendant go return to court when it is time for the next hearing. Dem also make sure say the defendant submit him international passport, i just think say all these na part of the process.
This is just part of what is happening in Nigeria that only awareness and some strict actions can be effective against but they are not doing anything than going to celebrities. It has no sense because this can not stop naira mutilation.
Na true wey you talk, i no think say e make sense as dem send Bobrisky to 6 months in prison, e dey very harsh. Naira mutilation don dey happen for Naija for a very long time now, e get better ways wey dem go fit take create the awareness say na crime, rather than going after only celebrities.
111  Other / Meta / Re: Why is merit not common on trading discussion board on: April 18, 2024, 08:58:02 PM
Maybe too many merit sources do not do not visit the trading discussion board and the non-merit sources who visit the board only post but do not bother to read the posts of others to give merits to quality posts. If there were a few merit sources who visited that board often, more users would earn merits from the posts they make there.
If you feel you have good posts in Trading discussion board, you can apply your posts in Merit sources' merit giveaway topics.
If they are not interested in posts made in that section, then even if you submit them to their giveaway topics it might still be ignored, so that is not the solution. A merit source for that section is a more viable solution.
112  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tracking inside of CEXs on: April 18, 2024, 05:13:56 PM
One of my hobbies is to track wallets . I sit for hours and find good ones but I always end up in a cex address and can not see what happens inside of the cex anymore
That is such a weird hobby, are you auditioning for blockchain analysis companies. If you want information like that, then you have to contact the centralized exchange, what happens in their platform is off-chain and you cannot track it because it isn't on the blockchain.

To continue enjoying your hobby, stick to on-chain data, even though i don't know what you stand to gain by tracking addresses and where their inputs move to, what are you looking for?
113  Economy / Economics / Re: Which country proposed the establishment of BRICS? on: April 18, 2024, 03:50:48 PM
I mean among the four countries, which one among them brought up the offer. Which I guessed to either be China or Russia.
No, this was not how BRICS was formed, it was neither China or Russia that came up with the idea, they weren't even the ones that came up with that acronym. From what i could garner online, it was Jim O'Neill, a Goldman Sachs economist that came up with the acronym BRIC, he used it to recognize four countries with very fast growing economies that (according to him), could rival the economic powerhouses like the U.S and others from the West.

These four countries found the idea interesting and decided to make a group from it, South Africa later joined them and it became BRICS.
114  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Person wey get money no fit spray the money again? on: April 17, 2024, 04:19:20 PM
As part of our fundamental human right I believe person wey own property or wealth fit use am the way e want because man get liberty to do anything as long as the thing no go worry another person negatively. I come Dy wonder why EFCC come Dy attack people way they use their money the way dem want.
Naira mutilation is an offence in Nigeria, i know say for a very long time dem don dey overlook am, but right now government wan create the awareness say e get as you go use the Nigerian Naira wey e go be offence. Things such as spraying, hawking, squeezing, writing on the notes, etc, na offence and the punishment be say the offender go spend 6 months in jail or the option of N50k. So this matter no be violation of human rights, Naira mutilation na offence, but plenty people no know before, but now dem know.
115  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Would You Recommend Investing Binance Pays 9.70% Interest on USDC on: April 17, 2024, 04:10:33 PM
I've recently been scammed out of my money investing in Atomic Wallet so I'm skeptical about investing.
Atomic wallet is a closed source wallet, there are good wallets which are open source and you can use it to hodl your coins. What you are doing is a very bad idea, staking your coins in a centralized exchange, first, you risk your money hodling it in a stablecoin and secondly, you risk your money hodling it in an exchange, because no keys, no coins. If i were you i would use that money to buy Bitcoin and move it into a hardware wallet, but i am not you, so do as you please.
116  Economy / Economics / Re: Which country proposed the establishment of BRICS? on: April 17, 2024, 02:02:05 PM
Chinese Yuan recently become the most traded currency in Russia.
This is because of the sanctions imposed on Russia by the U.S. and many other countries, now they have stepped up their relationship with China and other allies and they now mostly use the Chinese Yuan for trading and foreign activities, all as part of their dedollarization campaign.
BRICS is nothing more than China wants to dominate the economy.
Maybe or maybe not, there is no doubt that amongst the countries in the group, China is the one with the healthiest economy. That being said, the Yuan isn't going to automatically usurp the dollar as the world's reserve currency because they have formed allies with Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa, when most of these countries still use the U.S dollar for trading and as their reserve currency.
117  Other / Meta / Re: Why seeing merit button on my post when I can not merit my own post on: April 17, 2024, 12:38:40 PM
You are correct that it shouldn't be there, but the admin is very reluctant to make changes (even when it is necessary), meaning they would never spend time implementing something that isn't actually a problem.

If a suggestion does not solve a particular problem, i don't think the admin would even think about implementing it, the merit button beside your own posts is not a problem, as long as you can't merit yourself and you get an error when you try it.
118  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial Advice for a young millionaire on: April 17, 2024, 12:22:34 PM
It is easier to give financial advise when you are not the one in possession of the money, or the one who needs to apply the restraint. If your story is true, i don't know; but i think you can get financial advice from reading finance books, there are so many of them and they will help you understand how money works and how you can make it work for you.

Though in the meantime, i would tell you to go on with your life like nothing happened or changed, if you were schooling, continue, chase your career and don't change the status quo. If you are able to do that, you'll maintain and grow wealth.
119  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: E no resemble local board. on: April 16, 2024, 06:44:01 PM
Personally I reason say writing in pidgin English, for make dis our local board to de very unique and wen oda nationals visit di board, dem go get di flow say truly na dis style of English de popular for naija, infact you go surprise say more people go de visit our board to de feel our flows.
Wetin make you think so, IMO, the local board dey very unique as e dey now, and we no need approval from non-Nigerians. I no know if you read my last posts in this topic, i linked the Indian local board and you can see that na mostly English wey dem dey use for their own board. As regards this argument, i even think it is when we mostly use English language to communicate that non-Nigerians will be able to inderstand what we say in our local board, but that is nothing of priority and it does not matter.
120  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fulfilling dreams with agriculture! on: April 16, 2024, 05:16:00 PM
Please don't misunderstand. I said there is money to be invested but it was not possible to invest. The dream did not come true, the feedback of which helped me to be more diligent. Hope you understand my problem!
Okay, you somehow didn't invest then, even if you had the money, and now you want to sell agricultural produce and use the profit to buy Bitcoin, i don't know if what you are saying is the truth and i honestly do not care.
If I deposit $100 or $120 worth of bitcoins per month from here, how much will it benefit me? Is it right for me to invest more $ in Bitcoin than this? And should I invest the whole money in Bitcoin?
Nobody can tell you how much you would make in ROI, we do not even know for how long you intend to hodl your coins. Bitcoin price is volatile and unpredictable, so there is no way you can talk about ROI from the beginning. You are going to decide by yourself the amount of money you should invest in Bitcoin, but i can advise that you buy using the DCA strategy.
