841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What features are now expected from cryptocurrencies? on: August 23, 2023, 08:06:38 PM
There are a lot of cryptocurrencies on the market right now, from those that focus on privacy to those that focus on development.
What other features or technologies are out there that people are hoping to get?
Quite rightly there are already a lot of cryptocurrencies in the market, and most of them either just copy the features of other coins or they promise features that they really cannot offer. I don't think we need anymore new coins, they more often than not turn out to be useless coins without any actual utility or even scam coins at the worst. Having said that, if people need a coin with an actual utility, they'd have to use Bitcoin or a few other altcoins that have utility, as for speculation, they can pick the coins they think would pump and give them ROI, but no more new coins with fake promises!
842  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ledger, safe or not? on: August 23, 2023, 06:43:20 PM
What is your verdict? Safe? Avoid?
Avoid if you are just about buying a new hardware wallet. As for safe, if you were already using Ledger before they announced the Ledger recovery service, you might just continue using it as you have been doing so, but of course without 'subscribing' to the new Ledger recovery service, but whenever you decide to get a new hardware wallet, you should ditch Ledger for a different brand; because there is then no reason to continue using it.
But any hardware wallet service can deploy a new software update and take your keys as most people do not know how to verify the source even if it is open.
If it is open source and you can't verify the code yourself, i think you should at least wait for others who can to verify it and see if there are complaints about bugs/malicious lines before you update yours.
843  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am confused !!!! on: August 22, 2023, 11:44:34 PM
Besides Bitcoin, there are hundreds of token/coin you can make profit from.
Pump and dump coins you mean, or coins/tokens that have no actual utility but survive on just hype, i'm pretty sure you yourself don't believe in what you just said. Making ROI through crypto isn't as straightforward as that, even with a coin like Bitcoin that has an actual utility, now if it is with Altcoins, it becomes a whole lot more difficult and somewhat like Gambling or looking for a needle in a haystack, because out of even a hundred of them, you might struggle to find one good coin/token.

I am aware that Manchester City have agreed and sealed in a €60 million deal with Rennes for Jeremy Doku this week, medicals now scheduled and booked for Wednesday. The supporters of Manchester City are thrilled about this news. Manchester City have been involved in several deals this summer and many did not pull through, this is a good one and one to be excited about.
The reason why it seems City go into negotiations with clubs and don't come out successful sometimes is because of their strict policy of not overpaying for players, they must ensure that the player is worth the selling club's valuation before they agree to the deal and make payments. We've seen City walk away from numerous deals in the last couple of years because the selling clubs were asking for too much money.

Having said that, Jeremy Doku is a new City player, i don't know too much about this player, but i read he is a very impressive winger, thus City will be very happy to have him. This signing is their third of the summer, but i think they still need at least one more midfielder, talks between City and West Ham for Paqueta already broke down, thus they have to look elsewhere if they are to sign a midfielder before the window closes.

Pochettino has not proved anything other than just his bad experience in the last two matches. Chelsea only drew against Liverpool, while they lost 3-1 to West Ham. Of course that's a shame after Chelsea, who has been spending so much money so far to build an elite squad.
Whilst it has been a pretty bad start for Chelsea and Pochettino, it is still too early on in the season and Chelsea have all the time in the world to put things right and start getting good results. I know that they have spent quite a lot of money in the last three transfer windows and thus it'll make people grow more impatient with Chelsea and Pochettino because they expect results immediately.

Having said that, money isn't enough in building a winning team, a club can buy quite a lot of good players, but when the manager cannot get the best out of them, they'll just be like an ordinary team; Pochettino has a lot of work to do in order to get this Chelsea team back to winning ways, or else his job would be on the line.

Make sure that you release money from escrow only when the money has been seen in your bank account if you are the seller. If you are the buyer, make sure you report the seller after you you have sent money if he does not want to release the coin from escrow.
The case in your OP is different from the usual seller refusing to release funds from escrow or buyer not actually sending funds but marked the order as paid, etc. The source in your OP is talking about identity theft, scammers are buying and stealing people's banking details and using it to carry out peer to peer trades, i don't really know how much info you'd have to give away for a scammer to be able to send money out of your bank account without you knowing, (but i guess it has to be so much).

Thus the warning has to be that users should protect their personal details, don't post it anywhere or inadvertently send it to scammers when looking for cheap buck. Once the scammer makes this anauthorized payment and receive the coins, there is no way to retrieve it or trace them because it was your details that was used for the registration process.
847  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think privacy is important for a beginner? on: August 22, 2023, 07:56:21 PM
Privacy is important to all people but we never know if the beginners in Bitcoin jumping into the Bitcoin bandwagon because of the privacy Bitcoin gives.
Bitcoin doesn't really give privacy per se, it all depends on how you actually use Bitcoin. The reason why privacy is a possibility whilst using Bitcoin is because of decentralization, thus you can use it without giving any data/info to a centralized authority which is in control.

The thing now is, how many people actually use Bitcoin in this private way, quite a lot of them know how important privacy is, but i'm afraid they will choose convenience over it, and that is the case for a lot for individuals who are newcomers to Bitcoin. Privacy is important for all and sundry, but only a handful of people pay attention to it.

This is why I say Pochettino is an another version of Potter, he keep sign many players and he try to built a new squad.
Lol, this has to be just banter right? Mauricio Pochettino isn't a world class manager like Pep or Mou, but he is definitely better than Graham Potter. I think it is actually too early to give appraisal of Pochettino's performances in Chelsea, he is just two games into the job, and even though Chelsea haven't started the way they would have wanted, there is still quite a lot of time for Pochettino and Chelsea to put things right and start getting the results the fans want.
849  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some Security Tips on: August 21, 2023, 10:38:49 PM
but still IMHO as a user of Google Chrome I did not faced any issues till now. Why did I not faced any?
I don't know the issues you intended to face, but in case you didn't know Google chrome is a terrrible browser, especially if you are privacy conscious, they steal too much of your data and they won't fail to sell too many ads to you, of which many might be a scam. DuckDuckGo and Firefox are much better browsers to use.
I also never copied Private keys because in Metamask to recover the same account without deleting it we need recovery key and if I will not make a private key then nobody actually could access it. But still there are many other way around to get hold on that.
Metamask is a web/browser extension wallet, thus it is definitely never a safe wallet to use, notwithstanding how safe you think you can use it, it should only prolly be used for a tiny amount of funds.
850  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ledger Live generates different address for each transaction. How does it work? on: August 21, 2023, 08:55:40 PM
Is there any resources I can read or watch that explains how this works?
In simple terms, all you basically need is just the seed phrase which gives you access to all of the addresses on that wallet, in other words, there is no need for you to export the private keys of your wallet, back up only your seed phrase. As for your wallet generating new addresses for you, using the same addresses too many times gives you away, thus it is not the best thing to do if you are privacy conscious, but you can keep the same address if you wish to do so.

I think if Chelsea can't win against Luton Town this weekend, then Pochettino is really under pressure.
Pochettino and Chelsea are under more pressure than they would have loved to be so early on in the season, two matches played and they have scored just two goals, conceded 4, and have only 1 point; that is not the sort of start that the fans would have hoped for. Having said that, Chelsea know that the only option in their next game is a win, and i think the fixture somewhat favors them, they should easily get a win against newly promoted Luton Town on Friday, the game is also in Stamford Bridge, which gives Chelsea more advantage.
852  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin price speculation (BTC/NGN) on: August 21, 2023, 02:28:03 PM
Bitcoin can not be stable, but sometimes it can become less volatile. Before it fell below $28500 recently, the price has been less volatile within $29000 and $30000.
+1, that is a sideway market/period, and quite rightly as you said Bitcoin has been like that for quite some time now before this plunge in the price happened. I am pretty certain day-traders enjoy this sort of movements in the price, either upward or even downward as they can short it, but for long term investors, they will be trying to purchase more coins.
Bitcoin was unable to increased to make investors make profit and it can be discouraging at times.
This will not happen to long term investors, and short term invesors would not want to sell if they are going to do so at a loss, but these things are not set in stone, and people sell when they want to and for their personal reasons too.

Barcelona are about to sign Joao Cancelo officially. They are expected to announce him in a couple of days the most. It is going to be a loan deal for them and there is an option to buy him as well if I'm not mistaken. This signing has been their priority for a long time so it would be great to finalize it while there is a little time left for the end of the transfer window.
Good deal for all the parties involved, City want to get rid of him and they are finally about to, Barcelona will be getting a very talented and experienced footballer and Cancelo will be moving to a team where he can start playing and enjoying football again, win-win for everybody. It was pretty obvious after what happened last season that Pep wasn't going to integrate Cancelo back into the team again.

Having said that, in another news regarding City, Aymeric Laporte is set to leave City for Al-Nassr, it is pretty sad to see things end this way between City and Laporte, but he has had little to no playing time since last season, clubs in Europe were not interested in him, thus Saudi seems like his only option right now, i wish him luck.
854  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 20, 2023, 09:33:37 PM
Their failure against West Ham is regrettable because their opponent is believed to be easy to beat in this match. But the surprise happened because West ham was able to get full points and beat Chelsea which is inhabited by good quality star players.
I knew this game was going to be tricky for Chelsea, they have far more quality/experienced players than West Ham, but the Hammers are more organized and they stuck to their gameplan throughout the match and that's why they won. Chelsea can continue on their spending spree but they need more organization, the players are not used to playing with each other and more often than not it seems they are either one step ahead or slower than their mates.

Having said that, there is no need for Chelsea to press the panic button yet, they haven't started the season the way they would have liked it, but Mauricio Pochettino still needs time to get used to his players and to get his best starting team; Chelsea should set their targets at a top four finish, i don't think they can win the EPL title.
855  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: YOU ARE LUCKY TO BE IN THIS FORUM on: August 20, 2023, 06:32:34 PM
Little did I know that this forum holds the answer and all information one can possibly need in regards to bitcoin and cryptocurrency
That's why it is the most informative Bitcoin forum out there, even though your thread might be redundant, your points are correct, without this forum quite a lot of people would have lost their interest in Bitcoin and so many others would have lost the Bitcoins that they managed to acquire, overall, anyone interested has to be here to share their knowledge and garner from other users.
The hot topic now is the Bitcoin dip in price. While a lot of people will be panicking, those in this forum understand what is going on as it is not something new.
Not every user in the forum actually, there are some users here who panic quite a lot and spread fud, but i am pretty sure the older users who have been here for a longer time and have seen this happen in other cycles would definitely be calm and would be accumulating more right now.
856  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin price speculation (BTC/NGN) on: August 20, 2023, 05:01:36 PM
Some analysts think that the reason for the drop is because people see bitcoin (and other cryptocurrencies) not profitable and dump it to move to other assets. Maybe this is or maybe is not correct, we know that as bitcoin drop in price is an opportunity for other people to buy at a lower price.
Bitcoin has never been stable, drop and rise in its price happens all time, so i am surprised at analysts who think this current dump is as a result of Bitcoin not being profitable anymore. Well, i have never been interested in the opinion of people who analyse the market in this way, sometimes they just want to spread fud and manipulate the market to their very own advantage.
The fall of bitcoin, and naira appreciation in the last four days after the the meeting, the value of naira increased against bitcoin. But we all know where this will end to, fiat of a developing nation like Nigeria will depreciate overtime. People will see bitcoin cheaper and able to afford more bitcoin as the price dropped.
I wasn't aware of the meeting between the president and the CBN governor until i read your post, though i noticed the appreciation of the Naira against the dollar a few days ago, thus i guess this is part of the reason for that appreciation. The thing is, this appreciation wouldn't last long, i thought the government wanted to establish a unified rate between the official and parallel market, but as we can see that hasn't worked out too well, with the demand for dollar and insufficient reserves, coupled with a struggling economy and zero local production, the Naira will definitely lose more grounds in the coming weeks/months.
857  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Important to know: Difference Coin / Token and shady marketing practices on: August 20, 2023, 03:06:08 PM
TBH I am not a very big fan of investing in tokens because now I understand the risk involved in crypto so currently I am sticking only to BTC.
Well, that is something i likewise do; i know there might be some good Altcoins/tokens but finding them is like looking for a needle in a haystack, thus that sort of investment now becomes more like a gamble, and that's not something i want to do. Having said that, some Altcoiners might come up with the argument that Bitcoin is also risky, which is true, but Bitcoin has an actual utility as well, thus you can be pretty certain that it isn't going extinct, neither will it just disappear like some altcoins would, it will plunge in price as it usually does, but the price will definitely appreciate again. It is a perfect decision to stick to only Bitcoin if you can.
858  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 18, 2023, 05:49:49 PM
Manchester City will be defeated when they play Newcastle.
There is a huge chance that this could be possible, but we are talking about the treble winners here, and the newly crowned UEFA super cup champions, definitely you cannot rule them out even before the game has started. If City were playing away in this game, i might have agreed with you, in the St James' Park, with all the injuries, it'd be a mountain that City might just fail to climb.

Having said that, the game is at the Etihad, and more often than not City find their rhythm when they play at home and with their crowd cheering, don't get me wrong, i don't mean City must win because they are playing at home, at least not with all the injuries they have to worry about, but playing at home will help them so much to maybe get over the line. It is going to be so intense and interesting, we don't say this too often, but City might actually be happy if they get a draw, considering the state they are in right now.
859  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why Bitcoin Dey Come Down? on: August 18, 2023, 02:17:35 PM
This is the best time for people to continue NCA.
Lol, do you mean "Naira cost averaging", i almost thought it was a typo, but it might be a good term to use in our local section rather than the customary "Dollar Cost averaging". Grin

Having said that, i don't really try to find out the reasons why Bitcoin price drops, i think it is unnecessary because you will read so many speculations/reasons, but you don't know which is accurate. I understand that it might matter for day-traders and short term investors because they buy and sell pretty fast for quick profits, but if you are a long term investor, it is either you take the chance to buy more or you ignore the dump.
860  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading signal channels can be quite clever, so exercise caution ! on: August 17, 2023, 11:00:46 PM
It is pretty easy to understand that it is all fake, and the money they stand to make is that which you pay to join the group, think about it, if they had accurate trading signals, they'll not be selling it, they'd just use the signals to trade themselves and make money.

Victims of these groups are usually people who are new to trading and the greedy too, they want to make money pretty fast from trading and they think that's how it works. Even if you don't want to do the hardwork of learning how to trade, and you decide to get trading signals from wherever, do not pay for them.
