901  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: YOU ARE LUCKY TO BE IN THIS FORUM on: August 20, 2023, 06:32:34 PM
Little did I know that this forum holds the answer and all information one can possibly need in regards to bitcoin and cryptocurrency
That's why it is the most informative Bitcoin forum out there, even though your thread might be redundant, your points are correct, without this forum quite a lot of people would have lost their interest in Bitcoin and so many others would have lost the Bitcoins that they managed to acquire, overall, anyone interested has to be here to share their knowledge and garner from other users.
The hot topic now is the Bitcoin dip in price. While a lot of people will be panicking, those in this forum understand what is going on as it is not something new.
Not every user in the forum actually, there are some users here who panic quite a lot and spread fud, but i am pretty sure the older users who have been here for a longer time and have seen this happen in other cycles would definitely be calm and would be accumulating more right now.
902  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin price speculation (BTC/NGN) on: August 20, 2023, 05:01:36 PM
Some analysts think that the reason for the drop is because people see bitcoin (and other cryptocurrencies) not profitable and dump it to move to other assets. Maybe this is or maybe is not correct, we know that as bitcoin drop in price is an opportunity for other people to buy at a lower price.
Bitcoin has never been stable, drop and rise in its price happens all time, so i am surprised at analysts who think this current dump is as a result of Bitcoin not being profitable anymore. Well, i have never been interested in the opinion of people who analyse the market in this way, sometimes they just want to spread fud and manipulate the market to their very own advantage.
The fall of bitcoin, and naira appreciation in the last four days after the the meeting, the value of naira increased against bitcoin. But we all know where this will end to, fiat of a developing nation like Nigeria will depreciate overtime. People will see bitcoin cheaper and able to afford more bitcoin as the price dropped.
I wasn't aware of the meeting between the president and the CBN governor until i read your post, though i noticed the appreciation of the Naira against the dollar a few days ago, thus i guess this is part of the reason for that appreciation. The thing is, this appreciation wouldn't last long, i thought the government wanted to establish a unified rate between the official and parallel market, but as we can see that hasn't worked out too well, with the demand for dollar and insufficient reserves, coupled with a struggling economy and zero local production, the Naira will definitely lose more grounds in the coming weeks/months.
903  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Important to know: Difference Coin / Token and shady marketing practices on: August 20, 2023, 03:06:08 PM
TBH I am not a very big fan of investing in tokens because now I understand the risk involved in crypto so currently I am sticking only to BTC.
Well, that is something i likewise do; i know there might be some good Altcoins/tokens but finding them is like looking for a needle in a haystack, thus that sort of investment now becomes more like a gamble, and that's not something i want to do. Having said that, some Altcoiners might come up with the argument that Bitcoin is also risky, which is true, but Bitcoin has an actual utility as well, thus you can be pretty certain that it isn't going extinct, neither will it just disappear like some altcoins would, it will plunge in price as it usually does, but the price will definitely appreciate again. It is a perfect decision to stick to only Bitcoin if you can.
904  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 18, 2023, 05:49:49 PM
Manchester City will be defeated when they play Newcastle.
There is a huge chance that this could be possible, but we are talking about the treble winners here, and the newly crowned UEFA super cup champions, definitely you cannot rule them out even before the game has started. If City were playing away in this game, i might have agreed with you, in the St James' Park, with all the injuries, it'd be a mountain that City might just fail to climb.

Having said that, the game is at the Etihad, and more often than not City find their rhythm when they play at home and with their crowd cheering, don't get me wrong, i don't mean City must win because they are playing at home, at least not with all the injuries they have to worry about, but playing at home will help them so much to maybe get over the line. It is going to be so intense and interesting, we don't say this too often, but City might actually be happy if they get a draw, considering the state they are in right now.
905  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why Bitcoin Dey Come Down? on: August 18, 2023, 02:17:35 PM
This is the best time for people to continue NCA.
Lol, do you mean "Naira cost averaging", i almost thought it was a typo, but it might be a good term to use in our local section rather than the customary "Dollar Cost averaging". Grin

Having said that, i don't really try to find out the reasons why Bitcoin price drops, i think it is unnecessary because you will read so many speculations/reasons, but you don't know which is accurate. I understand that it might matter for day-traders and short term investors because they buy and sell pretty fast for quick profits, but if you are a long term investor, it is either you take the chance to buy more or you ignore the dump.
906  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading signal channels can be quite clever, so exercise caution ! on: August 17, 2023, 11:00:46 PM
It is pretty easy to understand that it is all fake, and the money they stand to make is that which you pay to join the group, think about it, if they had accurate trading signals, they'll not be selling it, they'd just use the signals to trade themselves and make money.

Victims of these groups are usually people who are new to trading and the greedy too, they want to make money pretty fast from trading and they think that's how it works. Even if you don't want to do the hardwork of learning how to trade, and you decide to get trading signals from wherever, do not pay for them.

Since for Bayern Munich, there is a huge crisis regarding the goalkeepers, they are looking for new ideas, and they tried and failed to get the Junvetus goalkeeper.

Now they are trying to take De Gea, which is a free agent.
Bayern Munich also seem interested in Stefan Ortega of Manchester City, though they haven't made any formal bid, but the other day Pep spoke about how important he is for the team, and i second that as well, even if he is only a second choice goalkeeper, he is their goalkeeper for cup games, and if Ederson gets injured, he would be the one to take his position. It is also going to be very hard for City to replace Stefan before the transfer window closes should they lose him.

De Gea is a good option, he is a free agent so they don't have to pay any transfer fee, they just have to agree personal terms with the Spanish goalkeeper, they could give him a year or two year's contract, at least by then they should have solved their goalkeeping issues.
908  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 17, 2023, 05:35:23 PM
De bruyne is absent for long and the absence of a vital player for Manchester City must have frightened Pep as much as the team. This is probably one of the most feared injuries for Manchester City. I hope they get over this problem quickly and don't feel the absence of De Bruyne too much.
Of course De Bruyne will be missed by City so much, but Pep will definitely find a way to cope without him, other players like Phil Foden and Kovacic will have to step up. Looking at the City squad currently, they don't have too much depth in midfield and that's why this injury is somewhat going to hurt them, in defense and attack i think City have very good depth, but not in midfield right now.

Having said that, this is why City are very well interested in Lucas Paqueta from West Ham, they are still in negotiations and from what i understand West Ham want at least £85 for the player. Paqueta personally wants to join City, but it is now up to the clubs to make it work. If the deal goes through i think City would then have enough cover in midfield and would be very ready for the new season.
909  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can we have a newbie Bitcoin wallet? on: August 17, 2023, 01:34:10 PM
When you talk about Newbie wallet, I guess what you meant is an easy to use, and user-friendly wallet, right? Because "Trust wallet" is the best option for that, due to it's simple, easy to use interface and it's option to add a new token or coin while selecting the right blockcain while running an airdrop & bounty hunt, making it the most popular among newbies.
Mind you that trust wallet is a closed source wallet, and it is not advisable to use closed source wallets (look at what happened to Atomic wallet), i don't use trust wallet, so i don't know if it is user-friendly like you say, but that's not still enough reason why one should choose "simple and easy to use" over their security. Electrum and other open source wallets i have used are also very user friendly and so easy to use, coupled with better security.
910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could stable coins save a deprecating economy on: August 17, 2023, 01:18:53 PM
Your topic just doesn't make any sense, how can a country introduce stable coins that is backed by another fiat currency and issued by a centralized organization as their main currency. Stable coins aren't automatically stable as the name denotes, there has to be enough reserves to cover whatever is issued, and how stable the coin is depends on the value of the currency it is backed by.

Having said that, the closest thing to what you are saying is CBDC's, and it doesn't help to save a depreciating economy because it has the same value as the fiat currency of the issuing country, just that it is digitally issued. Issuing or printing new currencies doesn't help save a country from inflation, instead it makes things a whole lot worse, the problem isn't the money used per se, but the policies made by the country.
911  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 16, 2023, 06:20:35 PM
Chelsea have been making decent transfers so far but we should be able to see this reflecting on their performance during the season too. I wouldn't like to see a similar scenario to the previous season. Because back then they again made good signings but there were serious issues going on.
I don't think it is possible that this season would be as bad as the last one for Chelsea, yes they were spending money, but they didn't have the right management, two managers fired last season and a caretaker manager who saw out the season with the team is enough to show how confused Chelsea were last season.

Having said that, i think things are quite different now, they have a new manager who had a full pre season with the team and the hierarchy at Chelsea have also supported him with massive signings, they'd definitely do better than they did last season. I don't think they'll win the league, but a top 4 finish and maybe a Carabao or Fa Cup trophy wouldn't be a bad first season for Pochettino as Chelsea manager.
912  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 16, 2023, 04:18:05 PM
I am so sorry for the Chelsea fans but I see it as a team in decline and I dont understand if the new owner wants to invest money in it or is simply dismantling it piece by piece. What do you think about it? I dont understand nothing about it honestly, probably i dont read more news.
Lol, you're sorry for a team that just signed Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Michael Olise, coupled with the signings they've already made this summer and in the last two transfer windows, Chelsea have never had problems with investing money into their team, both in the previous and current administration. Having said that, i guess Chelsea are done with their transfer business for the season, it should now be over to Mauricio Pochettino and the players to perform on the pitch, the investments have been made and definitely they can't afford to have another season like the last one.
913  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 16, 2023, 03:13:07 PM
These players came in because Ronaldo went there, but they also came in because they are offered a lot more in the end as well, that's how it is most of the time. I guess we should not be considering whatever the reason is, but it's definitely big deal.
Ronaldo prolly gave the Saudi Pro League more publicity, i mean, he was the first world class footballer to move to Saudi Arabia, thus he indirectly has an influence in what these Saudi clubs are doing. Having said that, these players aren't moving there because Ronaldo did so. The Saudi Clubs have basically become bolder after that Ronaldo deal, and they can now approach any player and make them offers that are so hard to reject. It'd be interesting to see the progress of the Saudi Pro League in a few years time.

I'm pretty sure Neymar didn't want to make this move to Saudi Arabia now, he would have loved to stay in Europe, but his salary/wages is unbelievable and it is difficult to find a club who can pay him, without the player taking a paycut, but instead the Saudi's came and offered him something that is much greater than his average salary, thus the Brazilian has no choice but to make this move.
914  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 16, 2023, 09:52:06 AM
Regardless of the loyalty factor for those who judge. For me, Maguire's decision to cancel the transfer to West Ham was a fatal mistake in maintaining his career. At Old Trafford you can be sure he will fill the bench.
Harry Maguire didn't cancel the deal, but it is quite obvious that he is reluctant to leave Manchester United, West Ham were tired of having to wait for greenlight from both Maguire and Manchester United on some aspects of that agreement, and that is why they have put that off. I can imagine the transfer window is two weeks from closing, so it is better they go after other targets, rather than waste time on Harry Maguire and in the end fail to get him.

Having said that, i don't know why Harry Maguire doesn't want to push for a move out of the club, it is clearly obvious that Manchester United want to sell him, but from the player's side there is this lack of enthusiasm to leave, even though the Euros in around the corner. I guess Maguire is contented by just sitting on the bench, afterall Gareth Southgate picks him nonetheless.

If you are a new forum member opening an account on a wallet you will never be asked your rank on the forum
Mind you that you don't "open an account on a wallet", if there's anything like that then it is a custodial wallet, and custodial wallets are not safe wallets to use because you are not going to control the private keys/seed phrase.
Wallets like Electrum Wallet, Mycelium Wallet, MyEthereum Wallet, Hardware Wallet etc. are generally considered by people as more secure complete wallets. You can use any of these wallets as a new member.
MyEtherWallet is an Ethereum wallet, OP is looking for a Bitcoin wallet, whilst Mycelium is not a good wallet to recommend when there are better alternatives like Sparrow wallet or bluewallet.
916  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Rumors spread that SBF is tied to the $BALD rugpull on: August 15, 2023, 07:10:56 PM
I got in $BALD and I regret it. It was a degen play and only invested what I could afford to lose. Nevertheless a loss is a loss. Oh well. Moving onto the next shitcoin...
Well, you just said you're moving on to the next shitcoin, rinse and repeat. Tbh, i've lost sympathy for people who lose funds to these meme coins and shitcoins, because it is obvious they know the risks and what they are doing, just like the op here.

Developers won't stop creating these scam coins because they find it easy to allure victims, people want to become rich overnight, they want to invest in a shady project that has no actual utility to see if they can make money out of it, of course shady developers would create it for them and in the end ennrich themselves due to the avarice of people, it is a never ending cycle.
917  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOW CAN BITCOIN STORED IN DOWNLOADED WALLET BE RECOVERED? on: August 15, 2023, 06:49:29 PM
Electrum wallet is an open source non custodial bitcoin wallet, it's a decentralized wallet under cold storage, there are some that are not decentralized.
Mind you that wallets are neither centralized or decentralized, they are both inappropriate terms to use for wallets, they are either custodial or non-custodial. Electrum is open source and it is non-custodial, but it is not "under cold storage", it is a hot wallet and is vulnerable to hacks, though you can create your Electrum wallet on an air-gapped device and anyone using Electrum to hold a large portion of their stash should consider doing that.
918  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can we have a newbie Bitcoin wallet? on: August 15, 2023, 05:36:44 PM
SO, all wallet are equal security and UI levels and to understand about wallets you have to learn the basic of them from different sources.
This is wrong, wallets don't have equal security, neither do they have the same UI, there are wallets that are more secure than others, like hardware wallets and good software wallets like Electrum, but there are also wallets that are not secure and very vulnerable to hacks, like web wallets, exchanges wallets, etc.
Because every wallet has sending and receiving options but some wallet are decentralized and provide some good level of securities like 2FA and Multisig etc.
'Decentralized' is an inappropriate term to use for wallets imo, it should rather be either custodial or non-custodial, mind you also that a wallet might offer features such as Multisignature and 2fa, and yet be unsafe, thus there are more things to access about a wallet than just that.
919  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 14, 2023, 10:53:28 PM
Neymar is officially joining Al-Hilal finally. I think he has taken the best path for himself now. Because he didn't have a good relationship with PSG lately and it was time to leave for Neymar. As he has been getting injured quite often he hasn't been a big use for PSG in the recent times either.
Neymar is quite young to move to a less competitive league right now, but it is what it is! The relationship between PSG and Neymar broke down a long time ago, and the club have just been waiting for the best offer to sell him. I'm pretty sure Neymar wanted to stay in Europe, but it is difficult to find a team than can pay his salaries/wages, and also pay a good fee to PSG for signing him. The Saudi's have come with such wealth/money, and they make transfers like this look so easy, thus in the end PSG got a very good fee and neymar's salaries/wages is just absolutely ridiculous, so win-win for all parties, though i know Neymar wouldn't be completely happy, it wasn't supposed to end like this.
920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happens if USDT falls down? on: August 14, 2023, 09:22:06 PM
It makes no sense to scam USDT otherwise cryptocurrency trading will be lost. I assume that the government is behind the USDT
USDT is issued by a centralized company, Tether, and not the government. The implications on crypto trading will be massive if USDT gets depegged, but the implications doesn't mean that it is not possble, and you are wrong that it will be the end of crypto trading, people who use stable coins will find other available options. The company that issues a stable coin can become insolvent or fail, and that will mean the end of that stable coin, thus when dealing with centralized coins mind you that if anything bad happens to the issuing company, the coin will become worthless.
