If you have no position.  Short the pop at 208-209ish

It's always Huobi leading these crashes. I'm starting to suspect something is going on with them and this is not a 100% legitimate move. They seem to flash down and then everything else follows. Whatever, result is the same in the end - how far down will the margins call.

H...F....T  algos dude!  its the algos.
803  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 14, 2015, 06:22:37 AM
LMFAO - 3000 BTC support at $200.

That's like a boss from a video game

If the Chinese exchanges use HFT you'll see a nice flash crash.  The wall might be a fake

Holy sh*t. Cry Wouldn't have called this. All why no FIAT will make it to western exchange for another day or two. We better get some news soon about China closing all exchanges or something to substantiate this madness

You could tell looking at price and volume.  Bitcoin price action is so easy to read
805  Economy / Speculation / Re: Well, I am all out again, for good this time on: January 14, 2015, 06:17:21 AM
wall street will not invest in bitcoin

nor will microsoft

I never said that so I agree with you.

what i said is if that winkle ETF went live, average joe will try a little bitcoin, it will move up, then the MOMO stock chasers will pile on, the faster it moved up, the more it would be chased, and we all know when bitcoin moves up it flies, as there is no liquidity. So it would have the potential to rocket ship once listed on Nasdaq.

very arrogant to call others "average joe".  If ETF went live the pro traders will hop on the short wagon and short the f**K out of bitcoin.  That you can be sure.  Wall Street is infested w sharks not derp derp traders typical of bitcoin

Not sure what you're asking, but that gif reminds me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQ9YtJC-Kd8

Done trying to trade this. Lesson learned. Do not trade capitulation, there are no rallies to be had. I've lost about 1% for every 2-3% this has dropped on average.  Embarrassed

Short the pops!  I love shorting!  Escalator up, elevator down!
809  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 14, 2015, 06:03:26 AM
Support is barely holding w no volume.  Looks like massive breakdown will ensue

Called it!
810  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 14, 2015, 04:57:55 AM
WOW. I just went full retard  (lots of coins) and shorted on 20x leverage all the way from $235 to $223 and made BANK. I have a nice little new found wealth Smiley

Who's giving 20x leverage?

813  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 14, 2015, 01:46:38 AM
how high do you guess are the chance to go sub $200?

I recall there are some sites where you can bet on BTC price range, right? Kinda like bookies who offer crypto market lines.

I would guess the odds of btc going below 200$ would be something like 1.4, this looks about right to me.

just only 1.4?  really?

You're asking what the delta on a 200 strike put is?  I don't  know how to calculate but you can calculate using black scholes formula
814  Economy / Speculation / Re: So when should you buy in. My thoughts from a long term bear. on: January 14, 2015, 01:38:28 AM
You guys are terrible traders.

1.  Establish bullish trend.  Look for a bounce off support level
2.  Buy on dip but use only a % of your capital
3.  Put a stop where the support is
4.  If you are correct about trend add to position on dips and trail your stop
5.  If you are wrong you only lose a little.  At this time re evaluate and possibly go short instead

But my advice is to stay away from Bitcoin because no liquidity and too much slippage.  Exchanges are unregulated.  Difficult to short and no options for hedging. IOW it sucks for trading

Feels good blocking all the trolls.

People really need to stop quoting and responding to them though. It doesn't help, even if it's "just for fun."

The true trolls were those encouraging people to buy "cheap coins" and that we'll soon see an ATH.

In other words, the guys encouraging newbs to lose money and fall into bull traps.

Yep and the ones who was spreading FUD about dollar collapsing, bad economics, etc..  Bad technical analysis and "log charts"

Time to have the bitcoin talk with grandma.

... She's prone to give money to strangers over the phone. ...

She's perfect bitcoin investor. Because safe.

Never did advice bitcoin to anyone in my family or friends. Because i care for them.

I talked my father out of spending 50K on bitcoins around 600.  He got the idea from some idiot neighbor pumping it hard on him and trying to convince him it was a small risk investment.  Apparently this neighbor spent about 100K when price was 800

I also told my HS friend to stay away when the price was around 800.

The first time I heard about bitcoins economics I knew it was all wrong
817  Economy / Speculation / Re: is anyone else as stupid as me to still hodl? on: January 13, 2015, 09:11:16 PM
Still holding here.  It can't go down forever!

DONT BE STUPID, SELL NOW ,AND BUY BACK LATER

Selling isn't in their vocabulary.  They only know how to buy and hold.
818  Economy / Speculation / Re: What might the lowest possible price of Bitcoin be? on: January 13, 2015, 09:03:15 PM
I wonder how many of us are factoring in these guys...

Quote
We believe Bitcoin can become a major means of payment for e-commerce and may emerge as a serious competitor to traditional money transfer providers," says Woo. "Assuming Bitcoin becomes (1) a major player in both e-commerce and money transfer and (2) a significant store of value with a reputation close to silver, our fair value analysis implies a maximum market capitalization of Bitcoin of $15bn (1BTC = 1300 USD)."

At the peak of BTC price, Citibank released their report and claimed the above bold.

I think they were wrong but looking at it from their perspective, from the perspective of people from an industry who lobbies millions on political campaigns for legislation that benefits them in the financial spectrum, they took notice of BTC when it was making waves.

If we consider that they already have a huge ton of money that is considered disposable to them and that adoption wasn't widespread enough for the population to take control of BTC then why are we not assuming that there is a huge amount of money from fiat interests manipulating the market?

BTC has the backing of some notable merchants and financial players but the fact of the matter is that Citibank released a statement saying that 1300 was a fair price and it never went higher.

I think that the amount of money that has gone into development in various aspects of crypto is relevant so I am not worried in the end but this should be considered relevant information.

That guy probably got fired for making such a dumb analysis

I think it's stupid to keep using a meme while you continue to lose money
