821  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: RAM-Reduction & Backup Center Testing (version 0.89.99.14) on: November 23, 2013, 08:42:04 PM
I see. So that's already 28 gigabytes of HD space wasted. This is getting ridiculous.

It is ridiculous, but it's what we had to do to get the new version working.  It also maximizes security and leaves open the possibility of having remote bitcoind/bitcoin-qt instances, etc.

That I could live with. Remote instance would be most useful so I could just dump the bitcoind (and the blockchain) to my server. Please tell more.
you can use a remote bitcoind already (with any armory version AFAIK):
mount the blockchain with NFS (for example)
expose RPC to public and limit to given ip (if you dont want that, no need for it) and use SSL on it (if this is possible with armory)
822  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: November 23, 2013, 07:25:40 PM
But on the other pool (BigBBQ), it seems like they don't pay the shares (less than one BBQ in nearly a day) and, on "digBBQcoin", you can't register if yiou have a "-" in your email...

Stand by. K1773R is setting up a new p2pool server right now. Once its up we will will put up the info!
here we go
p2pool for mining: http://p2pool.bbqcoin.darkgamex.ch:19324/static/
if you want to run your own node: https://github.com/K1773R/p2pool-bqc

I request a mac wallet for Quark. Anyone know if one is being developed?
use wine
824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: November 23, 2013, 01:22:45 AM
I found that I can't synchronize the wallet with the latest windows client...
Is there any node need to add?
yes, we need a new winblows build as the current build dosnt include the dnsseed
825  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: bitcoind for ARM / Cubieboard / Raspberry Pi on: November 21, 2013, 04:53:22 PM
Unfortunately it doesn't work at all on my Debian. I'm not sure what's wrong or if I made a mistake somewhere, but here is what I did:
1) I've installed a fresh Debian wheezy and installed all these debs (apart from bitcoin-qt as I need no GUI).
2) I've copied over whole blockchain from a windows machine with updtodate BitcoinQt 0.8.5
3) I started bitcoind with my custom config:
Code:
paytxfee=0.0001
rpcuser=root
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=192.168.1.73
daemon=1
debug=1
checkblocks=20
checklevel=0
Bitcoind starts, but it:
a) always asking for database reindex and doesn't pick the index I've copied;
b) if I start it with -reindex flag - it hangs in processes with max CPU, but it doesn't respond over JSON-RPC, and even after a long time waiting shows no signs of life, so I have to just kill it.

However, I found something interesting elsewhere. Debian Unstable repo has bitcoind package available for armhf/armel architectures, and it's last 0.8.5 version. So I installed it and it works nearly fine. Unfortunately it still doesn't like my index copy, but when I run it with -reindex - it start fine, responds over JSON-RPC and indexing goes on, I see it by the quickly increasing blocks count. Full reindex will take I think 24-48h, but I hope it will work fine afterwards.
you cant mix different arch's of leveldb databases!
826  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Abe 0.7: Open Source Block Explorer Knockoff on: November 21, 2013, 04:52:09 PM
What would it take to develop a web based block explorer for I0coin?  Also I need the total coins mined to be displayed.
default Abe can handle i0coin
827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: November 15, 2013, 10:56:32 PM
Interesting coin. Loading blocks right now.

Still worth of solo CPU mining with i7?
worth depend solely on your view, tough you can easely solomine with that
828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coin Validation misunderstands fungibility and could destroy bitcoin on: November 14, 2013, 05:48:27 PM
Their technical representatives of Coin Validation should be ashamed.  How can someone who doesnt understand a concept as basic as fungibility and its relation to transaction costs, and the difference between identity and coins hope to exist in this ecosystem.
thats why i give a damn about media. they never understand what they are talking about...
829  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: November 13, 2013, 07:13:02 AM

I don't know about exchanging android with ubuntu, but I would recommend to shell out some more bucks and buy one of those:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/SD-BLK024L-7-inch-Netbook-Linux-Preloaded/dp/B001IBHVCA/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1384273655&sr=8-11&keywords=netbook+linux#productDetails

Asus is a decent company and it comes with xandros preinstalled, but you can easily install ubuntu (read the reviews).

getting ubuntu on a chromebook looks hackish enough to me that i'd not be comfortable with the security of the result.

is that unit or similar available new anywhere...?  trying to identify something like that that is.  best i can find new is the ASUS 1015E-DS03 10.1-Inch Laptop which run about $230 on Amazon.
if you think android is in any way safe, your mistaken...
so having a linux (and not the poor android shit kernel) kernel is better Tongue
830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin Information, FAQ & Description thread. I2P/Tor explained [Mod] on: November 12, 2013, 05:03:58 AM
developer . could you send me and older version on the wallet so i can see if i can recover my 186 lost coins. i have never lost coins by udating wallets but i guess a first always happens

use git. with git you can compile any version from the past you want.
but i assume you waste my time (once again) as you refuse to answer questions... /ignore
831  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Advancement of Decentralized Mining - Vital to Bitcoin Network Security on: November 10, 2013, 12:29:05 PM
thanks warren Smiley

1. c. this is a must as not everyone is bothered with high variance, so there must be an option to not pay this fee.

2. a. good idea, this will lower the amount of new miners leaving p2pool.

5. we need this since quite some time.

6. is 6 needed if 5 is done properly?

7. this is probably one of the main goals as it will reduce lost (in terms of p2pool blocks, not btc blocks) work alot and would finally alow to create "super-nodes"

832  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: libbitcoin on: November 08, 2013, 10:13:07 AM
Feel very stupid to ask this question: Can the bitcoins of the original bitcoin-qt client and the libbitcoin client be transferred to each other? Or are the coins completely different?
I really a start for dummies about libbitcoin. Any other links than http://libbitcoin.dyne.org/ and http://bitcoinmagazine.com/6234/what-libbitcoin-and-sx-are-and-why-they-matter/ are welcome.  Reason I am interested in libbitcoin is that I am worried about my stack of bitcoins being destroyed by any possible government intervention in the future. Looking for a possible exit in case of an emergency. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Just found http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/bitcoin-dark-wallet
Really interesting stuff.....
you dont transfer coins around, you would transfer privkeys. as the protocol is the same, you just have to import the privkey and you (obviously) have access to all the coins
833  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Finding p2pool networks.py values for new altcoins on: November 06, 2013, 08:49:25 PM
i tryed to make just PoS+PoW p2pool modification from NVC/BTB source and i was not successfull - but i did not tryed yet the last advice from minerapia. (my test env. is down now and i do not have much time)
the p2pool code modifications for PoS are written in this thread but in case of any special stuff in coin you need to modify the p2pool code.
for NVC the dev. of the coin modified the coin to be able to run with p2pool and BTB is very similar coin to NVC

so you need basically very good python skills and good contact with the coin dev. in order to be able to understand the special features and python skill to make it work with p2pool.
and in case of "random" superblocks i do not see any way how to work with the 8times higher value for that coin - you need to ask the dev how you would find out that you are mining or have mined the superblock and in that case use different payout method for the miners and then again go on standard.

well maybe try first some normal PoS coin p2pool modification and then build on that knowledge - that will be my way after i will have more time... but still i will test the last advice from minerapia because i spent a lot of time on that and i am curious if it will work.

good luck man - i like the p2pool idea because i feel all that coins who are having p2pool are the most successfull coins. But only one dev. made coin and p2pool source modification at the beginning - no one else is doing it beucause they waste time on special features of the coin and then there is no power to make the p2pool working with it.

if "randomly" superblocks would be possible (which retard introduced this? sheesh...), you could abuse this system to only create superblocks lol
834  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Honey Caramels on: November 06, 2013, 08:27:55 PM
I've received yet another order from Bees Brothers.  Their honey roasted almonds are one of the best things I've ever tasted...
totally agree, waiting on my second batch to be shiped Tongue

@Bees Brothers
i wonder what the biggest order was.

Can't seem to get this to solo mine.  Is my .conf wrong?

Code:
listen=1
maxconnections=80
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=192.168.1.*
rpcuser=anyname
rpcpassword=anypass
rpcport=17333

cpumining with integrated miner and sha256d algo!? thats iodiotic... dont set gen=1, use external miner if you have to use cpuminer (waste of time and power), or use cgminer for GPU/FGPA/ASIC
836  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: November 03, 2013, 08:38:52 PM
tried fresh install and its not working
you didnt answer the question in the other thread ->
Quote
do you have a backup of the old wallet? are you willing to share the wallet to recover the coins? are you willing to do it yourself?
837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: November 03, 2013, 08:37:32 PM
lost 186 Anon when i updated to new version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please help  . I was one of the first people mining ANON and now i hold nothing

It is practically impossible to lose coins by upgrading to the new version. The only way we could see this happen is if you deleted wallet.dat in %appdata%\anoncoin either manually or by using 3rd party uninstall software that looks for, and deletes additional data created by a program. If that is the case, you will have to exit the wallet, restore wallet.dat from backup, then start the anoncoin wallet.
it is possible -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=309716.msg3467363#msg3467363

If he's a windows user I've always used the same version of libdb (BDB) for all windows builds.
4.8 or 5.0+?
