lost 186 Anon when i updated to new version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please help  . I was one of the first people mining ANON and now i hold nothing
do you have a backup of the old wallet? are you willing to share the wallet to recover the coins? are you willing to do it yourself?

this happens if you dont build yourself and use different libdb (BDB) versions for the binarys... you have been warned!
842  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptostocks - BTC,DVC,LTC denominated Stock Exchange/Crowdfunding Platform on: November 02, 2013, 09:10:02 AM
Did these guys all die or something?
First, there's this reddit post where 3 of us are having that same issue, the confirmation links in the emails for new accounts is broken, so nobody is able to join, and our emails to support go completely ignored. Its been 3 days.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1phhs9/anyone_else_having_issues_registeringconfirming/

So I went searching here on bitcointalk to see if I could find info, and I found this thread, and see the newest post is about this issue.

I ask if they are dead because the first post in this thread is by the user Cryptostocks who has not logged in since Feb 2, 2013.

Better question, is there another service to try that is similar? Just curious if there is no competition and we just need to "deal with it". I really want to try investing in cryptsy, this whole stocks for cryptocurrency is just intriguing to me, and I only stumbled upon it a few days ago, only to find out I can't register.
i informed kumala about his broken email setup some weeks ago, he said it will be fixed but not when.

845  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: October 30, 2013, 11:25:57 AM
I'm confused with all this entropy randomness stuff?  Can't I just use armory and encrypt my wallet?
you can create a new encrypted armory wallet without to know/read anything from the above. the talk is more tech/freak related and not ment for normal end users Wink
846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: mcxNOW raise 1 MILLION dollars in 12 hours! on: October 30, 2013, 11:24:38 AM
Has anyone entertained the idea of the exchange getting "hacked" and then claim the funds are now lost?

Wasn't that what happened with the 250 BTC donation?

Happened to Vircurex at least twice.

Vircurex is based on RoR (Ruby on Rails) so its not really hard to do that (wait for next exploit -> use it -> your rich), if RS told the truth and everything is a custom implementation in C++ (and done right), the risk for that is much lower.
847  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: October 29, 2013, 12:06:57 AM
Hello everyone. Me got a problem.

I try to build the quarkcoin-cpuminer on Ubuntu 13.04.
I do everything like it is written in the Readme. But when
I ./configure I get:

./configure: line 5534: syntax error near unexpected token `,'
./configure: line 5534: `LIBCURL_CHECK_CONFIG(, 7.15.2, ,'

I read somewhere that my libcurl config is broken and that i
should build from tarball. But there is no tarball available.

What can I do? Does someone know a solution? Thanks!
Try something like:
sudo apt-get install curl libcurl3 libcurl3-dev php5-curl php5-mcrypt

dont do that, this is retarded.

install libcurl4-openssl-dev and then do ./autogen.sh && ./configure
EDIT: if ./autogen.sh fails, install autoconf
848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: October 27, 2013, 12:31:47 PM
... Let them handle security for you, since you are unwilling to learn. SHA-256 checksums are pretty much pointless. If someone breaks into the website, you think they're going to upload a modified version of Anoncoin, then forget to run sha256sum on it? With a GPG key signature, I'd have to either be Meeh, or break into both the web server and Meeh's system, steal his private key, then kidnap Meeh and make him tell me the password to the key.
...
totally agree, if meeh would do that, it would be retarded...
849  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [24 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: October 26, 2013, 03:17:16 PM
Hy,

the actually Payout System is not good.

You must change it to PPS.
And dynamic share diff for the miner.
So when a miner have 14GH diff -> to 4

So low Miner becomes coins for there work.

With the actually system, low miners must use the big pool with fee.

The p2pool system works only for high workers or nodes with many workers to get a high status.
So this will fallback to only one big node. = central node.

Or, many little nodes with "no shares" and no coin generate, the miners goes to the big pools.

A redesign of your network can help. And makes fun for the little miners.
u clearly dont understand how p2pool works, so dont make any suggestions...

Nice to hear that "customerservice" for vircurex does not give a f*ck, just like "customerservice" for cryptostocks. Either all income messages goes directly to spam folder, or to trash. Is some improvement in this case planned too? For example answering clients?

Hi, I have also been waiting around 3 days for confirmation of incoming transfers. No response to emails to customerservice@vircurex.com
both are maintained by Kumala, he will answer but dont ask me when (ie, hes not deleting them).

. i2p webhosting

Most likely no one have done it yet, is because of it's darknet.. Even with, or without a clear TOS, your hosting service will be abused to things like child porn etc.. There is few people supporting stuff like CP, nor want to host a service that can be abused to this.

I can say that someone is working on a solution like that. But they are now stuck with the problem you read above. They do not want to host any child porn. I guess you saw what happened to the guy behind Freedom hosting from the Tor network.

You either believe in free speech and freedom of information or you don't.

Yes almost. In I2P we censor sites that can be potential CP sites in the official "DNS" servers. (It isn't dns, but easy to explain with). However, if you're a sick bastard you're free to visit those sites as long as you know of them. I know it's double moral, but I support that we do it.

I don't support CP either. The way I feel about them is the same way I feel about videos of murders. I think it's a little bit hypocritical to create an anonymous network so people can speak freely, then censor what you don't like. I understand it, though.
its not censored, it just hasnt been accepted to the "public package"
censoring means active removal/blocking of content X and not "you didnt inlucde a link to the top cp site in i2p, fuck you i2pteam, this isnt freedom of speech"

This new build does not like my wallet.dart   i keep getting error reading wallet.dat  even though is had has success reading it here and there.
this happens if the builder uses different libdb than you do with your (old) client.

wallet.dat is also a BDB, any *coind should be build with 4.8>= && <5 libdb or wallet.dat wont be compatible.

@meeh: did you build with 4.8 or 5+?

854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: VirtualBox and Bitcoin-QT on: October 13, 2013, 03:13:49 AM
Hi,
I've been quite successful maintaining several virtual machines, each machine has only one daemon/GUI/QT client.  Eg I have BTC-qt, PPC-qt, LTC-qt, etc, etc, I even have a Solid Coin Virtual machine!  11 in total.

I feel this is the most secure way to run multiple clients, provide security, and segregate them to avoid any viruses, etc.  Each VM runs Ubuntu linux 12.04 nowadays.

Anyhow, I have been using a dynamically sized disk with a virtual size of 20GB, has been working great.  Until of course the BTC blockchain has now grown in size to require more.  In the past, I had researched how to increase the virtual disk, and my general conclusion (this dates back a couple years) was that this cannot be done without some severe trouble.  If anyone has tips on this, I am all ears!

But my main question is this.  I went ahead and created a new VM with a 200 GB disk, again dynamically sized.  I install the QT client, and have noticed that the VM disk grows to 60GB on my host machine (Windows 7) but the disk usage inside the client (Ubuntu 1204) is only using 12GB.  Problem here is I have 60GB left on the host machine and the VM stops when the host machine's disk is full (duh).

How do you explain the VM disk growing to 60GB when the client is only using 12GB?  My other BTC client that is filling up is 20GB in the client (Ubuntu) and is taking up 20GB in the host (Windows).  Makes perfect sense.

Why is my new VM taking up 12 GB on the client and 60 GB on the host?

Thanks in advance!!!

if you download a blockchain of 8GB, your disk image will be 8GB bigger. if you delete the blockchain, the disk image will stay the same big and your guest will say its 8GB less. what virtualbox does is simple. guest wants to write to offset X but image isnt big enough so expand image a bit and map it to offset X. it isnt aware if you delete something inside your guest as it isnt working on a filesystem level.

What do you need, a permanent node? I can help host one as well, if so.
a dns seeder not a seednode (permanent node), well its done already Smiley

cmon Vlad2Vlad, learn the basics or finally stfu spamming complete nonsense... your like a disease spreading more and more :S

Basics, eh?  Please show me where I missed the basics.

Like, where and when are the scrypt ASICS coming?

And what fool, besides you, would mine one shitty coin dropping in value, when for the same money you can mine a rising Bitcoin and a half dozen other alt coins which are way more secure and in some cases, way more stable and more popular.

Please, give me some facts or shut the fuck up!
its named merged mining and its free... so sad. ppl like u make me sick. big talk, no brain.
seems only the ignore button helps against your delusion.

PS: i wont even include that your a pedo (which is obvious), thats your personal choice...
