8481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are your biggest and heartbreaking losses in Altcoins? on: December 01, 2017, 04:13:03 PM
Hi i am speculating if anyone here has his own experience of having a big loss? I have talked earlier to my good friends and crypto and they had so many experiences of their greatest losses in their crypto life and it is truly horrible for me. I would love to hear any experiences so I can learn from yours. Thanks.
My biggest lost is when i invested in airtoken. Everything looks good, the team is good, white paper is  good and it's not a whitepaper project but everything went downhill when they change the term mid ico. A lot of people are angry with that (me included) and to make thing worse they offer a refund only for 3 hour that's about 2 am in my timezone. So when i woke up the refund window already close and there's only a lot of angry people. Lost about 40% from that.

Wow, that is really terrible. I know many ICOs seem to be changing their terms midway or even only at the end of the ICOs, but the refund closing in only 3 hours is completely a scam. I hope those guys were at least named and blackisted forever in crypto world. Refunds should be 100%, not a single satoshi less (hey you paid fees to send to them too, right).

My own biggest I am too ashamed to admit but I do not mind sharing my Elastic experience. I bought several times beween 20k to 23k a few months back. You can see for yourself what has happened. It has become one of my holdbags.
8482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is draining the altcoins on: December 01, 2017, 03:01:36 PM
Possibly some but with Bitcoin being all over the news now new people will be attracted to the speculative coin market looking for the next "goldmine" coin.      They will need Bitcoin or ETH to buy many of these Alt-coins.     It's a trickle down effect delayed by the fact that most people will pay with a card which has a 10 day hold before they actually receive their ETH ect.     They need time to figure out wallets and what Alt-coins may be the "next big winner".

At least that's the way it's been for me, after a friend contacted me about mining a few weeks ago.     Many, possible me, will lose some money but people still buy lottery tickets every week hoping to hit the jackpot.      But I've been trying to be careful and only buying using a tiny percentage of my savings.

Exactly my thoughts. Now the majority of the news and "new investors" are sharing one common theme: it is too high in the bubble now to get into Bitcoin, wait a little while. Instead, alt projects and media promoting new alts are taking advantage of this situation and presenting their alts as the next valuable goldmine.

It is like a lottery you said, except with lotteries you generally only spend a few dollars and hope for a few million. Here, people are investing life savings hoping to make 100x bank. That is the danger.
8483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2017-12-01] Ripple to Place 55Bln XRP in Escrow by the end of the year on: December 01, 2017, 10:12:09 AM
OK, but I think this news is already priced in to Ripple gain since last week because they already said they would do this many months ago. Now it is less than one month left to fulfill this decision,,, so if it does not happen, we should all prepare for a small dip instead!

In any situation,,, Now, all cryptos are wilting together with Bitcoin, doubt this kind of news can have a big impact on current trends. We need something more substantial that is happening for sure, or has already happened. Not this type of promises that you can hear every day on every project.
8484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO Participation? on: December 01, 2017, 08:07:44 AM
Yeah, I have heard of this theory before, and sadly, only after making the mistakes of joining my own ICOs. I researched so much, spent a lot of time, reading the whitepapers and documentations, feeling confident of the work the projects were doing and they had great transparency. And then after the ICOs, the listings happened and everything fell under.

If I look at the ICOs I went into, all of them are cheaper to buy now. In fact, if I had kept my BTC, plus the token prices, I could buy around 5 to 10 times more in all these ICOs today, because of higher Bitcoin price plus cheaper than ICO tokens.

So, maybe it works, maybe it does not. In my case, for sure this would have worked.
8485  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League Betting Pool v2.0 on: November 30, 2017, 07:29:32 PM
Hello. I would like to join this game, it seems very interesting with a lot of players! I have some bitcoin to the amount needed. What do I need to do?
8486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WAVES PLATFORM VS ETH PLATFORM on: November 30, 2017, 05:38:01 PM
WAVES is easier to use than ethereum, but the price of waves never seems to rise despite a lot of great news being released about it. My guess is whale manipulation as waves has been undervalued for a long time and drops everytime it reaches $5.

Waves may be easier to use but ETH just has more developers trained to use it, and there are more resources on how to use it. For example, anyone can launch an ERC20 token now and that is the prime reason ETH is so popular (ICOs). But Waves in that sense is not abused to the point of ETH, and have very, very slow growth partly because they also have no advocates in the big scenes like ETH does.

I do not really believe Whales are responsible for Waves price never going above $5. I think it is just a slow, organic growth coin.
8487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HOW DOES A COMPANY(ICO) EVALUATE ITSELF on: November 30, 2017, 05:08:26 PM
That is the point raised so many times, and conveniently ignored by 99% of ICOs. In my entire time here, I have seen only 1 ICO with exact dollar amounts for every item they need and want, and several stages, like a minimum soft cap and a maximum hard cap.

I have seen 1 other ICO with a small hard cap of $1 million, which it did not really budget to the detail I like, but at least it was able to give large sections with costs.

No other ICOs do this, the best you see is 100Million - 10% dev, 70% platform 20% marketing etc. Complete nonsense,,, like they came up with it in 15 minutes.
8488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Etherium or Dash; which of this coin will reach $1000 @Jan 2018 on: November 30, 2017, 01:56:19 PM
Neither will reach $1,000 in two months, not after already ploughing through all the significant barriers, and definitely not before trying to stabilise at $500 first. A realistic very optimistic outlook is the golden one thousand mark by end of 2019, but it has to come with significant new development or adoption.

The first to do this should be Ethereum, but if Dash can widen its use outside of niche territory, then you never know. But I would even tip Monero to do this before Dash does.
8489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitClave ICO completes in 32 Seconds, $25.5mln Raised on: November 30, 2017, 09:01:29 AM
...because you can certainly trust ICOs and the numbers on their centralized websites...

Haha, exactly. In a time when the ICO flood has not stopped gushing out, and the day of 1 minute ICOs are over, sounds like a real red flag to see that much raised in 32 seconds. At best, they arranged for big whale investors to prepay, and just lumped those totals together. I mean, 32 seconds is a short window of time, doubt any blockchain could handle and confirm that kind of volume.

At worst, it is a made up number and that is the biggest red flag of all.
8490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] Coinbase hands over data to IRS on: November 30, 2017, 07:54:46 AM
Firstly, I think it is wrong for a service to just turn over customer details over to someone else, but I guess this is the danger of centralized parties. They can make you sign anything and do anything with your data with or without informing you.

But secondly, it is also wrong to not pay your taxes. If you earn an income, fiat or Bitcoin, you pay your taxes. That is fair and correct. So if you are using Coinbase, there is nothing to complain about here. At least you were informed. Most other places sell your data without telling you and whammo, you are on some fake passport halfway across the world.
8491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Cottagecoin-buying and renting real estate in Europe! PRE ICO started! on: November 29, 2017, 07:50:53 PM
Hi there, nice website. Not exactly the most original idea for crypto, but a few quick questions:

Are cottages your specialty or that's just the coin's name? The main picture looks more like a bungalow or mansion. I was imagining cosy cottages with a small farm or yard outside. Also, you mention only a few countries, but I'm really interested in the markets that experienced near banking failures that led to supposedly a lot of small homes and cottages going for almost nothing thanks to a lot of bankrupt people.

Not that I want to take advantage but that seems to be the only way I could afford to move forever in a remote European village/cottage. When do you have a product to actually start viewing?
8492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Rise or Correction as it already reached 400$ on: November 29, 2017, 07:29:22 PM
I suppose the correction will never happen with such rise of bitcoin )))))) just go to the moon! Joke... I think nobody know when will be correction... Nobody think that bitcoin will be around 11 000$... So maybe ethereum can rise up to 1000$.

You are right, for better or for worse. I have really just stopped trying to predict. The charts are wrong, the charts are always shouting correction but nothing is happening. So the drop looks bigger and bigger but maybe we have to stop using old technical analysis. Maybe this is a bubble after all.

But if Bitcoin does correct, I cannot see how Eth and other alts can continue when they have already broken so many ATHs. I think the best is just to hold whatever you have and just wait. No new entries for me now.
8493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can I hold my altcoin for years in my wallet? on: November 29, 2017, 01:16:34 PM
Your coins, or in your case, your tokens, will never disappear from the blockchain. They will always be there, provided you never lose access to your private keys and they are never moved or transacted, or some idiot never executes a smart contract to somehow lock your wallet if it belongs to Parity (haha).

Of course, value is another thing, or price as you ask.

If the network is one day abandoned, or the blockchain closed, then sure, you may not access them any more, but no one can stop you from plugging it back online, if the source is still available!
8494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Antshares/ NEO [NEO] on: November 29, 2017, 11:39:11 AM
Kucoin pays GAS to Neo hodlers too. I got some Neo when I sold my RPX on Kucoin and I got Gas in my account every day I held Neo. But they have a minimum withdraw amount so I wasn't able to withdraw. It is still a small amount but I had few Neo that I held for only 2 days before buying back Rpx.

OK, I did now know about this. My understanding was that all exchanges would never do this, so this is very new to me. Does anyone know of any other exchange that can earn gas for NEO while holding it? Do you still earn if your NEOs are reserved in orders or do they only credit active balances in wallets. I am looking at Kucoin FAQ now and it does not seem to specify the details.

Appreciate any help in advance, thanks!
8495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Lisk and Shift on: November 29, 2017, 08:36:15 AM
If you compare between lisk and shift i would choose lisk. Lisk will rebrand their coin. Lisk has a new development team and it has its character which is java script. All apps for lisk will be created by java script. Java script with a lot of platform is really powerfull languagr for now.
To naked eye Lisk has greater long-term potential and maybe more followers, but when people start comparing one project with another it is a sign that more or less they are going in the same direction so while both have activity the rest will depend largely on the success of what both them develop over time.

Yes, except for Bitcoin and Ethereum, whom I think new projects will insist on comparing themselves to whether or not it deserves comparison, I always "fear" when I hold an alt that suddenly begins to be compared to other projects as similar. For me this is especially Elastic, haha. But no, I think it is wrong to say Lisk and Shift go together. One will eventually overcome the other, but seldom in use or adoption, just branching out tech and maybe price.

Lisk is my bet though, waiting for their rebranding to take them back above $10 next year.
8496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reflection of altcoins and buyers on: November 28, 2017, 12:32:02 PM
Sorry to deflate your research here but I think 10% is too optimistic. Do you really believe 1 out of 10 persons do their proper research? Maybe 10% actually do a small amount of Googling and skim through the whitepaper and read all the shill posts on Medium, Newbium, whatever. But that is not research. That is just reading and being influenced, a different sort of following.

You are right though. A nice homepage, some photos, some buzz words. That is actually all it takes. In fact, I think it takes even less, from the examples I have seen.
8497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH target 1000$ in ending of this year on: November 28, 2017, 06:52:49 AM
What is a good price and what is a right price will depend a lot of how the miners will react after full implementation of the PoS. They will mine less, and might move on to other alts if the price cannot go up. People say it was undervalued all this while but I honestly still cannot place ETH as a utility coin. Even with the hundreds of ERC20 tokens and more coming up, if that is the only utility, then it is unnatural. Therefore, $500 is already a good pricing, I agree $400 is the more realistic one.

We need more ETH merchants before we can call it the true #1 alt.
8498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin is about to break through 10k usd on: November 27, 2017, 01:17:02 PM
Bitcoin is about to break through 10k usd. What will be after the breakthrough? I predict, of course, the rise of altcoin.

Depends on how soon is soon for you.

I agree that bitcoin will break through $10k usd but i don't think it will be anytime soon. It just went from $8000 to $9500 in one day. I doubt that much price movement will not have profit takers who will already sell. $10k by christmas or end of the year for sure, but maybe not in the coming week.

I believe there is this thing called momentum that suddenly means Bitcoin MUST break the $10,000 barrier before Christmas. All signs point to this happening. Traders, minders, investors will all want that figure to happen. Why? Because if it does not happen, the same irrational logic that said Bitcoin must make $10k will suddenly say "oh, no, we did not make it, I think we have gone too far",,, and then we might see a very scary drop from 9900. I would say even $5000k will not be unimaginable if everything pulls away by then.

But personally, I think this is just the beginning. Altcoins must be patient and bide their time. And somehow if they rise, it will not be at the expense of Bitcoin.
8499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Large Investment into Ethereum? on: November 27, 2017, 11:34:55 AM
I'm very new to AltCoins and all of it in general, this is my first post too!

I have started to invest into some AltCoins, but! I am looking to invest a large amount into a coin and Ethereum is looking promising, do you guys think that it is a good investment?

And is the price too high atm? ($483.36) or shall I wait for it to drop? do you guys think it will drop?

 Huh Huh Huh Tongue

Depends a lot on your aims and your faith in the coin, just like with any crypto. If you intend to hold ETH for more than a year, then it does not make much sense to wait for good entry points because you are banking on hundreds of dollars of profit, not tens of dollars.

If you want to make a quick turnaround, then yes, wait for the dip. If it goes up some more, which it probably will, you lose out but you do not lose money. If it dips, you buy at 10% or less and can look for quick scalps when it returns to ATH. It probably will, also.

If you have no faith, stay away.
8500  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ENDED]Flixxo, a social economy based on video sharing platform PopcornTime+RSK on: November 27, 2017, 09:28:54 AM
can anyone here compare flixxo with LBRY credits?

Actually, there are a few reviews that I read that does already compare Flixxo with LBRY, you just need to google them. For me, Flixxo potentially is a little bit easier to use. I like LBRY since I used it for a very long time as beta tester, and the content is very original and quite funny. The free tokens I have earned also have a small value now so that is a bonus. But, LBRY is very slow and problematic, I think based on what I have seen Flixxo is much more smoother, and has a lot of backing now, so they had a short period to catch up but they look good so far. Just hope it does not become a dump token, when it starts getting more exchange listings.
