861  Other / Meta / Re: The Reason why you chose your username on: October 27, 2022, 03:19:55 PM
Usually here for sure came from their nickname "ekename" which means an additional name.
There's a sole purpose behind choosing your username and the main factor could be a security reason to cover anonymity, we need to pick a different username either our nickname any words, numbers, or symbol that comes up in our mind, or a combination of our real names.

But before picking a username, it might be good if you'll research it first.  Back then I saw a newbie that has been red-tagged because of accusing impersonating a well-known member here, like for example our admin theymos.

The reason why I choose this?
It's because it's my nickname and I know it's genuine and it's impossible to impersonate other people.
862  Economy / Speculation / Re: A good observer makes a better speculator on: October 25, 2022, 12:00:13 AM
People have a different approach to the market but that's right, an observer has more advantages than those people who didn't have an idea of how the market going on and dive into it easily thinking that they will gain profit as easily by investing in crypto.  Different sources might be useful too to predict the market price though isn't accurate but at least you know it already the possible consequences.

It's very crucial if you're a day trader, there are too many patterns that you need to watch and observe to be a better speculator.
863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Impact of Bitcoin on: October 24, 2022, 11:46:54 PM
Because that's the goal of Bitcoin based on the Whitepaper written by satoshi.  As an alternative payment system of fiat currency and now it has been widely adopted around the world but only in those selective countries because still there are few countries that restrict Bitcoin under their jurisdiction.

Most crypto can be transacted anonymously, generally safe to use and difficult for malicious hackers to break.
It's possible on a centralized exchange, isn't anonymously but it's pseudonymously.
864  Other / Off-topic / Re: What about a smartphone keyboard on: October 23, 2022, 11:59:19 PM
To all stock or unmodified devices of android OS, it's rare to infect a virus, it can't infiltrate the core filesystem not unless you are installed an app (apk) from an unknown source that has malware virus that is systematically easy for them to replicate like keyboard hacking and like placing the hacker's wallet crypto address.

But in general, there's no system that is safe and everything can be hackable when it comes connected to the internet.
865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin and crypto currency experience. on: October 23, 2022, 11:19:02 PM
Each one of us has bad and good experiences and for sure this bad experience when we're new in the crypto space.
Most newbies will usually encounter bad experiences and they will learn about them until it will become good experiences.  Its important thing that we should must learn and explore more about what technology Bitcoin has and learn different experiences.

More knowledgable you'll gain in this field the more good experience will come, believe me on this.
Just playing safe, stick on Bitcoin while you're a newbie because altcoins are very crucial stuff that you need to learn first.
866  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What possible reasons made Satoshi bow out from the crypto scene?? on: October 23, 2022, 11:05:18 PM
He/she (or they) has a brilliant idea, and all his plan was successfully fulfilled that everything listed on the Bitcoin whitepaper.  As you can read the whitepaper title it said, (Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System) which is clearly what it means, it's an alternative to fiat that no one will control or a third party which is centralized organizations.  For sure it's financial freedom or privacy.
But people now start storing the value of Bitcoin or hoarding it, not using it as a payment system.

But hey, this isn't an appropriate board for this you can move this on the Bitcoin discussion board, scroll down below, and hit the "move topic".
867  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I know about Bitcoin on: October 23, 2022, 10:49:37 PM
Good to hear that your friend is willing to help and teach you about Bitcoin.
But you need to learn on your own and don't depend on your friend anymore and fortunately, you're here in the forum where in the place that you'll surely learn more.

Just read sticky topics (pinned post thread) on this board (Beginners & Help) which help you to give insight and knowledge towards Bitcoin from the technology behind it and the right wallet you store it.
You'll also learn here which I did when I was a newbie like you.  https://bitcoin.org/.
868  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bounty managers and newbie bounty hunters on: October 22, 2022, 11:59:57 PM
I thought newbies won't allow any bounty campaign, it must be a jr. member rank, AFAIK.

minimum acceptable rank would be Member +; it's the only way to eliminate a slew of newbie farms.
..this and

I recently saw that a signature campaign has a merit requirement. If you want to be eligible for that round you must acquire at least 1 merit. Lets say its 6 week campaign and the bounty hunters must acquire 6 merit during the campaign if they want to be eligible. Probably you will say they will make circle on merits but those are only posting their report it will make easier to find them. My idea might be nonsense but there is many people trying to scam projects and managers. If no action is taken, they will continue in the same way.
this...
I tend to agree with them.
The only way to eliminate those bounty hunters but I don't think if, all those bounty managers will follow this rule, especially newbies.

This isn't a new problem, it has been discussed here so many times about irresponsible bounty managers, and yet, even tagging them they can still run bounty campaigns by using newbie rank, as long they get paid they continue doing the same.  What do you think if there's a new rule that newbies won't allow to run bounty campaigns and also there are merit and rank requirements the same as the bounty participants?
869  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best Strategies for Trading. on: October 22, 2022, 11:38:57 PM
Hello guys. What are the possible Currency pairs trading strategies that a newbie can follow up. It should be from personal observations, beliefs and practices. Thanks.
  • BTC/USDT
  • ETH/BUSD
These are very common pairs on exchange and I think as a newbie, I'll prefer the very common pairs over others.
But before picking such trading pairs, you need to know first if this is applicable to an exchange that you use because sometimes trading pairs vary on an exchange that you have used.

Stablecoins pair has more liquidity and that's why have a high market capitalization the potential of seeking profit, it's advisable pair for newbies and even professional traders.
870  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How and who writes code for Bitcoin? on: October 20, 2022, 11:48:28 PM
This probably silly question, still I just wonder if all other blockchain projects has a 'leader' (Vitalik for Eth, and Antoliy for SOL, etc) who is managing/controlling/guiding Bitcoin development? Is there any team or a person behind all the decisions being made? I guess the code of Bitcoin was changed since Satoshi disappeared?
It's all agreed with the miners and they all followed in Bitcoin protocol.  If there are major changes in the code, miners will usually have a power like having a "fork" IMO.

If you want to know those Bitcoin contributors' contributions, here is a graph from Aug 30, 2009 – Oct 21, 2022.

I guess the code of Bitcoin was changed since Satoshi disappeared?
No, it wasn't.  It can't be changed.
If it's changed, that isn't Bitcoin protocol.
871  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 2018 Vs. 2022 on: October 20, 2022, 11:34:18 PM
It's also possible that even with the halving, that there's no bull run and that we have reached the ATH for a while.

I think it's better to buy Bitcoin because you believe its fundamentals are good and you think it makes up for sound money.

Anything else -- especially with money you can't afford to lose -- is too risky.
Possible, that there is no bull run but unfortunately, it's proven that Bitcoin has an ATH after the next halving.  It usually occurs after a year of the event.
Accumulating these days is the best thing to do and if you trusted Bitcoin, hold it a long term and wait until the market becomes bullish.

A lot of people now or even governments have the same interest in Bitcoin, they keep it and store value which affects the demand and supply quickly.
But I'm afraid of these big companies that invested in Bitcoin will become a big whales in the future.

872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multiple transaction on Metamask on: October 18, 2022, 11:52:51 PM
Is it possible to make multiple transactions using metamask instead of sending one after the other?
Unfortunately, you can't.
Because Ethereum transactions have a nonce.  You need to wait for the first transaction before you can proceed to another one.
However, in Metamask, you can speed up your transaction to become faster, but it requires more gas.
You can read their blog regarding this.

For security purposes use a PC wallet than a mobile.
873  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet not syncing to blockchain on: October 18, 2022, 11:20:50 PM
OP send me a PM where he state he use Electrum Wallet Portable version 1.7.15.948 on Windows 10.

I tried to search for this version I have never seen version 1.7.15.984 what I think is that it could be a fake portable version of Electrum its risky if he just backup the wallet file and upgrade the electrum to the latest version without removing the fake Electrum.
It's the 2013 version and I think this is right 1.7.1 version.
From the oldest version 1.5.4 in 2012 until the latest version will be found here.

The syncing problem might outdated version, back up the file immediately and download the latest one.
874  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: In-Person Bitcoin Exchanges on: October 18, 2022, 11:00:22 PM
Hmm.  It's very crucial for your safety and I wouldn't suggest this if I were you.
Imagine, while visiting that place you don't know what will happen after the transaction has been done.  It might your life put in danger in that way especially if you're carrying a big amount.

Bitcoin ATM would be the best alternative if you want to buy in your place and also you can visit this thread the [BIG LIST] Buy/Sell Crypto (OTC, P2P, DEXs, CEXs, NO-KYC, ATMs, etc.) which is P2P OTC exchanges are the best for you.
875  Other / Archival / Re: The use of mining energy for the implementation of useful and good services. on: October 18, 2022, 10:52:10 PM
It's a great initiative and might other cold places country that has mining facilities will do the same.
The Netherlands is a cold place and it's perfect for crypto mining because you don't need cooling ventilation there's no waste energy there because the heat of mining equipment can be used in flower gardens which is people love flowers which makes them happy.  It seems this is very useful because from this month until January next year will start the coldest month, AFAIK, January is the coldest month which is approximately 35°F and a high of 40°F.

It's true there's a greenBitcoin.
876  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to monetize a cryptocurrency website? on: October 18, 2022, 10:35:05 PM
Though it's given above the big list of affiliate programs that might you can try and here's an article (How to Monetize Your Cryptocurrency WordPress Site) that might also enlighten you and give a better idea.

AdSense sometimes is very strict and we know how sensitive they're when it comes to crypto.
Just make sure that you've read this AdSense Online Terms of Service to avoid mistakes in the future that you don't know.

You can do both and even here in the forum you can advertise your website as suggested above.
877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain (dot) com refuses to close my wallet on: October 17, 2022, 11:48:42 PM
I have a wallet with 1 Stellar XLM and Blockchain doesn't allow me neither to sell it, to send it nor to close the wallet.

Can someone help me?

Just leave it and forget it there, 1 XLM is equivalent to 0.11 USD as of now so what you're trying to get?
If I didn't mistake, that 1 XLM come from their airdrop right you complied with the complete KYC, right?  It's given above how to delete your account permanently but don't expect they will delete your documents submitted.  However, just take note that you can't request to delete your account once it has a balance, it should be a zero balance based on the article that I've read.  So might be a good step if you will deposit the required amount of withdrawal and then withdraw them all, just blindly accepting the cost of the fees because you wanted here to delete your account.

To know more read this article.

878  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: lol Coinsmarkets Exchange on: October 17, 2022, 11:14:15 PM
I don't know if anybody remembers coinsmarkets
Is that Coinmarkets.io?

I can't access that website and it says, "Connection denied by IP2Location Country Blocker" it might be what you meant the link that you gave above was the alternative one right?

No offense but why the link that you gave doesn't have a record of who.is?
879  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What problem does Bitcoin solve? on: October 17, 2022, 11:00:31 PM
I don't know if Satoshi has this in his mind when he created bitcoin. His initial design was for bitcoin to be a payment scheme, P2P.
What he had in mind is pretty clear in the Bitcoin white paper  Wink
I tend to agree here and the Bitcoin Whitepaper tells everything.
Satoshi's plan was perfectly successful even though people now prefer to store value but still, the purpose of Bitcoin and why it is created was still there.

The main problem that has been solved and the main purpose why Bitcoin was created is just because of the alternative payment system, a digital currency that can send across the border without third-party control.
880  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Youtube Scam in Action on: October 17, 2022, 10:28:14 PM
I clicked it and it seems you are redirected to the exchange site which asks to connect your wallet.
One thing that I wanted to know, is that Youtuber is popular that has many subscribers? Do you think it is worth listening to him?
the number of his subscriber does not matter what matters is his credibility. if that YouTuber posted scam links, there is no point in listening to him. he lost his credibility and listening to him would just put you at risk of getting scammed and if I were you I would report the channel for trying to scam people.
Known streamers that have many subscribers might don't do this, if they do, it will surely many of those subscribers will leave the channel and lose the YouTuber's credibility.  So might those unknown YouTubers who will create content like this just to scam naive people who didn't know that they're in the trap of a scammer.  This isn't new, I heard before people have been scammed because of a Youtube streamer who posted a phishing link which is the account was been hacked.

So we must be careful about everything that we saw on social media and verify first before believing them.
Don't click anything, especially those related the financial advice.
