Another briljant video from Marc de Mesel: http://youtu.be/v7NGR7bz1Xw   Cheesy

Offering 4 Million NXT to buyout LTBcoin! Shocked

Read the comments to the video for current developments, things are being considered on a new offer
862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cleanup: I'll attack some coins - I owned APEXcoin for 90 blocks on: January 20, 2015, 02:56:30 PM
Bolded

Some simple questions about nxt so I don't have to look them up:

1) Is transparent forging really implemented? I thought not

The part that allows you to predict the next block is, you should be able to confirm this yourself using the tool above. TF is several interlocking bits so you can't really pick a point and say "that's when TF began". And not all of it is implemented yet.

2) Is https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt the latest source code? if not, where do I find it? do I really have to decompile Java?

I believe so. Every version ships with the source code in the 'src' folder so you could use that for the latest version. Not sure it is in as usable format though

3) If account A transfers some amount to account B (which was already verified) at block N, can B use that stake to forge block N+1? if not, when will it become part of B's effective balance?

You have to wait for N+1440 blocks before it counts in B's effective balance again. You can't broadcast a transaction, move the Nxt, broadcast again in the next block in a new account, move, broadcast move etc. using the same NXT.

4) Is re-leasing possible? if A leases to B, can B re-lease to C without approval from A?

No

5) which is the best place to ask these questions? nxtforums? which section?

Nxtforum is best.

Technical general questions: https://nxtforum.org/general/
Transparent Forging: https://nxtforum.org/transparent-forging/

Thanks!

You're welcome. Keep it up!

So, found any holes the Nxt devs missed in their implementation?  Smiley

Those that run the website have nothing to do with the Nxt Core development and technology, UP.

Move this to the other thread.

870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good AltCoin with Android-based Wallet? on: January 20, 2015, 09:19:47 AM
You can use mynxt.info on any platform through a browser.

Oh, NXT online wallet? Seem great! Will be creating a wallet soon, since there is no need to download anything.

You could also try https://nxtblocks.info for another online wallet option.

They aren't fully featured wallets yet but they get updated regularly.

Not android but if you want something similar to traditional wallets, try http://www.mofowallet.com. It uses a wallet.dat file that you can store alongside any other coins you hold.

slovakian ... is it joke ... how many people live there
it should be translate to norwegian and swedish
and danish and islandish too

Translations are done by volunteers, someone who speaks slovakian spent time to translate the client. If you know anyone who speaks swedish/norwegian etc. Then they can help out and do the same.
872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm offering 4 Million NXT to buyout LTBcoin on: January 20, 2015, 12:11:49 AM
An offer is back on the table, using Monetary System. Ltbcoin would continue but move to the Nxt platform and be backed by 1million Nxt.

https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/offering-4-million-nxt-to-buyout-ltbcoin-7773/msg153332/#msg153332

@Febo, it is business. It is about win-win. Now Marc better understands Adams goals, he can modify his offer. There are benefits to moving to Nxt. A faster blocktime for one. Not having to worry about securing the coin two. And it gives Adam access to all Nxts features,  he could float LTB on the Asset Exchange in a few years. Nxt gets to showcase the power of the platform. Win-win.

cynicSOB, what would be the required countermeasure for a staking coin? decrease the maximum coin age?

https://blackcoin.co/blackcoin-pos-protocol-v2-whitepaper.pdf

These changes made BC less like Peercoin and more like Nxt (possibly, exactly the same as Nxt. What are the chances.. Cheesy) .

Improvements on their proof of stake algorithm by blackcoin: http://www.blackcoin.co/blackcoin-pos-protocol-v2-whitepaper.pdf Any relevance to Nxt?

They removed "age" and their PoS is very similar* to Nxt PoS now.

-------------
* - I would say "exactly the same" but some details r not clear.
https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/price-speculation/msg56825/#msg56825

That only Blackcoin developers made security patches and changes to "POS System (PoS2.0)" to fix problems.

The funny thing is that Blackcoin changes in PoS system led to the scheme that has been used in Nxt since day 1.  Cheesy

874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [NEW MINING CLASS] MSCoins - Opportunities for CPU and GPU miners on: January 19, 2015, 08:20:31 PM
First of all, POW mining is only one of Nxt's Monetary System use cases. There are five properties to choose and mix: Controllable, Reservable, Claimable, Mintable, Non-Shufflable.

You can use these to create stores of value (locking Nxt into the creation creates a floor price), crowdfunding (funds returned automatically if target isn't reached by a certain block) and secure retail vouchers (tokens can only be set to and from the issuing account). See here for more information: http://nxter.org/nxt-core-monetary-system/ and https://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Monetary_System

There is nothing artificial about the work done in MSCoin POW. And the more hashpower will get you more coins. Also don't mistake this for a change to Nxt, it's security is still 100% POS.

How about a POS without any inflation? After all, even small amounts of inflation erodes value over the long term.

Ok. I can't answer for Peercoin family  Smiley
876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm offering 4 Million NXT to buyout LTBcoin on: January 19, 2015, 06:28:31 PM
You're a legend Marc  Cheesy

Interested.

Edit: just got to the end of the video. Pity.  Smiley For his use case, there is the possibility that an Monetary System coin is suitable. It would mean he wouldn't need to secure his own blockchain, just concentrate on creating the value he wants.
877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cleanup: I'll attack some coins - I owned APEXcoin for 90 blocks on: January 19, 2015, 06:21:41 PM
Which POS implementation are you referring to Ray? There is a lot of vocabulary in you first paragraph that seems to imply Peercoin family. What is a matured coin?

I read it the same way as achimsmile, I think a comma/fullstop/words were missing in your rush  Grin

"Around 20% would be quite a lot, or if I may say, with the current total amount of stake forging. So around 23% of stake would give you a shot at a 51% attack as there is about 45% of the stake forging at the moment."

I think ^ is what you meant. But it read as though only 23% of people were forging.

Isn't this more or less exactly what's expected? You need around half of the total staking power to attack?

Yes, that's it.

Network is secured by Proof-of-Stake but repartition of coins by Proof-of-Work!

That's a new paradigm in the altcoin/crypto universe.

So the PoW is just for coin distribution?

Yes.
