861  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC reach $300 this month? on: October 23, 2015, 02:24:22 AM
This 281 dollar peak has been a great boost of confidence in people that thought we would never reach anything like that again. We only need to cross 300 again to prove that Bitcoin can recover and double his latest floor. After this, the uptrend is due. It will only be a matter of time before "The Great Next Rally" begins. Until then my friends you better collect all of these cheap as hell coins.

The thing I worry about, is that in the future, we will look past with retrospect and see that this was for sure a "dead cat bounce" that happened after the big crash from August... Hopefully this isn't the case, but still... this is a likely scenario that could possibly happen.

But I think bitcoin could definitely reach $300 this month, but I personally hope that it doesn't happen to quickly... because then that attracts papa bears to come out and short like hell all the way back down to $250; maybe even $220.
862  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My goal to earn 1,000bitcoins within 3years on: October 23, 2015, 02:20:55 AM
Join my pump grup and make 5-20BTC a month depending on risk you take.
Just check my sig. Playing this easy you will be able to make 0.1-0.5 a month easily like all my members did.

Earn 0.1-0.5 a month easily? how about the risks?
Is there any guarantees that your member will always win without lose anything?

Earnin 0.1-0.5 per month is really easy. You can earn more too with just 1 btc balance. Every gambling will have risks whether you bet 1 btc or 0.01 btc the risks is still the same but with higher balance you will achieve it easily. Plus you earn from signature campaign lets say 0.2 you just need to find 0.3 per month is that hard?

I think winning 0.5 a month is quite hard really. How do you get 0.2 from a sig campaign? You normally get arround 0.16. So it's quite far away from the 0.5 a month.

Well I know with my signature campaign I currently am "working" for... I get 0.5BTC a month steadily ever since I joined (around a month and a half ago I think?).  Magical dice has been a running a very good campaign since the start, and ever since Yahoo became the new campaign manager for stars and cryptasm, things have become even better by weening out people who have been spamming the campaign.  Every week I get a steady income of .12BTC per week for being a hero member and the last .02 per month comes from the avatar.
863  Economy / Economics / Re: Winklevoss Exchange Gemini Struggling to Win Bitcoin Traders on: October 23, 2015, 01:58:05 AM
It will depend on how they target their network to acquire new user growth
Incentives and finding different potential groups would do them a fair bit as it is now their volumes do appear to be stable around 420 BTC Smiley

Well, I mean not only that, but you would have to look at the fact that they don't necessarily cater to the "small" bitcoin purchaser... They seem to be more delved in the field of dealing with "big" bitcoin companies, but the reality of it is that there just aren't that much anymore or right now, that are located in the US.  I think they would need to cater to the small man first before they go and try to sell bitcoins to the Bill Gates's and the Donald Trump's of the world.
864  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: October 23, 2015, 01:54:10 AM
If it goes to $1000 very quickly, I will sell.

Yeah, you and just about everyone else. With the massive sell offs it won't stay that high for long.

That's the main reason why this price will never be achieved by next year alone... it will take a lot more time to get to that point, because there are resistance prices that make people feel like they need to "cash out" a good majority of their coins at a certain price.

But is it just me, or does this steady increase in price just seem different?  Just more "legit" in nature?  I think I might have had too much to drink, but this is basically how I feel as of right now.
865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 23, 2015, 01:50:31 AM
I am having a conundrum regarding Bitcoin.

On one hand I can see how once rewards decrease for Bitcoin that miners start looking elsewhere to point their computers.  I can also see how Bitcoin not be capable of sustaining large transaction volumes leads to less transactions.  With few transactions and no one paying sufficient transaction fees to the miners, the entire network collapses.

I can also see how with a fee based economy, the right to include transactions on the ledger must be kept at a premium to encourage miners....

I am thoroughly confused and not sure what I believe will eventually happen to Bitcoin now.

I can completely see where you're coming from on this, but one thing I would like to point out is that the halving that's coming about in 2016 is only the second one... So in that sense, bitcoins still remain somewhat very profitable to miners if they are looking at the "long term" speculation of bitcoins prices, and seeing it as a mainstay in public online transactions.

I don't necessarily think that when 2016 comes, miners will point there hashing power to another coin, because bitcoin still remains the more profitable source of income (by a long shot) compared to other coins.  If you compare bitcoin to the next leading alternative in terms of fiat prices (litecoin), you have $275/coin vs. $3/coin. To me, I would speculate that miners will always point their computers toward bitcoin because of this.
866  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 23, 2015, 01:45:03 AM
One thing I learnt about this thread is this

* When price is going up and everybody is like "BITCOIN IS GOING TO THE MOON" or "Here $10,000 we come" it means its time to sell or go short.

* When price is crashing and everybody is like "BITCOIN IS A SCAM" or "BITCOIN IS GOING TO $1" it means its time to buy or cover.

Yeah, unfortunately this is the case... people in this thread have always been thinking in an "all or nothing" approach... but that's the fun of speculating, you never know what's going to be the outcome at anytime.  Once people see the prices go down a dollar, they are instantaneously ready to sell all of their bitcoins, and ready to watch the bitcoin world burn to the ground.

It's actually pretty funny to me, and love to monitor the thread all the time.

868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 22, 2015, 04:52:41 AM
Did anyone introduce Monero to some DarkMarkets?
Some guy around here is doing a bit of Marketing for Monero, i am just not able to recall his name...  Angry Grin

I do remember there is someone promoting XMR, but I can't recall his name either.  Tongue

Found that guy  Grin
Wrote him a pm  Roll Eyes

I do my best to promote Monero but have zero connections with any dark markets and have never promoted Monero there. My focus will continue to be on clearnet businesses with a focus on privacy and security. VPNs, encrypted email, encrypted cloud storage are a few examples of the companies I am contacting. I also am contacting privacy related charity and lobbying groups to ask about accepting Monero for donations.

+1 for good strategy

I understand trying to get companies to understand the importance of using a crypto that isn't a "public" as bitcoin is with it's transactions... but wouldn't it be somewhat better to try and get everything "under the hood" ready to go before we purpose these companies actually use and accept XMR?  I mean the devs still have a bit of work to do, and I would imagine the companies you're contacting will do extensive research on the progress and reputation Monero has as of right now in the crypto world.

I think possibly once everything gets set up, they would be more inclined to accept it as a valid payment.  But just curious, what have these companies been saying to you?  How has the promotions been going so far?
869  Economy / Economics / Re: Winklevoss Exchange Gemini Struggling to Win Bitcoin Traders on: October 22, 2015, 04:47:57 AM
Gemini, the long-awaited New York-based bitcoin exchange founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss and billed as the "Nasdaq of bitcoin", finally debuted on 8th October.

Featured in articles by The Financial Times, TechCrunch and Wired, and promoted via a TV appearance on Fox News, Gemini it succeeded in grabbing the attention of the mainstream media like few industry products before it.

While a success in terms of promotion, however, Gemini is showing signs it is struggling to appeal to bitcoin's active trading community. Though representatives of the exchange stated they're seeking to attract a more institutional clientele than their competitors, avid bitcoin traders tell CoinDesk that they believe this strategy will be difficult to execute.

here is the full article : http://www.coindesk.com/winklevoss-bitcoin-exchange-gemini-win-traders/

Anyone knows how much is the trading volume on their website comparing to the other exchanges ? it's kinda crappy because they don't make their price or their stats on the first page and we can't make an account unless we are from USA .
https://tradeblock.com/markets/gmni/xbt-usd/1h/

Wow, it doesn't really help either that the exchange rate per bitcoin on gemini is about $3 higher... I mean sure, they provide a "legit" exchange site for the more "industrial" cliental, but I'm sure that could be a very good reason as to why most people here in the U.S. still use other exchanges rather than them.
870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR]Boolberry Speculation|CryptoNote2.0|GUI|pruning|blockchain alias|mixin flag on: October 22, 2015, 04:35:04 AM
Any specific cause for the large percentage gain of Boolberry on Poloniex over the last 24 hours?
https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_bbr

BBR is up over 50%!

Is it because of comments from TPTB_need_war, the new popboolr game or something else?

Honestly, it probably has something to do with the fact that there are some "whale" pump and dumpers targeting boolberry right now... I wouldn't be too shocked when later tomorrow or the next day there will be a huge dump that follows suit.

I feel that if you guys are still are planning on holding future "competitions", that there should be a "competition" section under the leader board that shows the leaders for the whatever competition that may be; like when you guys held the "most unlikely win" competition... idk just a thought, everything else looks fantastic though... keep up the good work fellas!
872  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My goal to earn 1,000bitcoins within 3years on: October 22, 2015, 04:11:58 AM

If you aren't a "super dev" or invest a large amount of money in a idea or a site of yours that could possibly bring back big time returns... There is no way to earn 25+BTC a month... Hell, probably not even 10+BTC a month.  You would have to find a very good nitch service which you could provide for a high price... other than that, no possible way in hell.

well senior profession jobs can pay that high if you are in developed country. however, if you are in country with weak currency, then that is an BIG sum for you.

Well I'm just considering the fact that people with real jobs outside of online jobs, whether you are in a developed country or not, you will have to keep some/a majority of your income in fiat so you can pay bills... until there are companies like water, electric, insurances, and that sort of thing that will accept bitcoins; people will remain attached to the fiat system in some kind of way... Companies like those will be the last ones to adopt bitcoins, because they are so closely tied with the government.
873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: cash remains the only option if there's an emergency on: October 22, 2015, 04:04:08 AM
If there is a real emergency or some sort of epidemic then even cash is useless. I'd be moving with my Glock, that'd be the only way to survive Smiley

Yeah, you want guns, dogs, food stocks, medical supplies, a large group of people who you can trust.  Then you work on rebuilding society.

That sounds more like the walking dead...

Haha, I was thinking the same thing when I was reading through all the comments... but really, there is no telling what you need to "stock up" on for some unseen "emergency" because, no one will no in advance what "emergency" to prepare for.

I don't know if anyone on here has seen that show "Preppers", but it basically is a show that shows people prepping for some kind of apocalyptic event that they think will happen... If you watch the show, you will see people preparing for very different scenarios, and even starts out each show with "This is Bob, he is preparing for a Nuclear holocaust by building an underground bunker and storing X amount of food"... then the next show will be something along the lines of, "This is Alice, she is preparing for a zombie apocalypse by stocking up on guns, ammo, gasoline, etc. etc." ... So in short, there are more than one "apocalyptic" scenario one would have to prepare for... Not to mention, no one would know if the internet will still be up and running or not... so bitcoin could maybe still have some value during such an event.
874  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best bitcoin wallet? on: October 22, 2015, 03:50:21 AM
I use blockchain.info and coinbase as i have very slow internet connection. No problems so far.. When i have the budget i'll go for Trezor.

you should'nt use trezor if you have slow interenet connection,
you can use paper wallet, low cost and you can save anywhere Smiley

I'll take note of that. Thanks Smiley I haven't used paper wallet before guess i'll do some research first.

it's very easy Smiley
you can read this tutorial
https://blockchain.info/id/wallet/paper-tutorial

or look this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsyPfiENwQU
bitaddress.org

Yes, this is possibly the best route to take, especially for safety precautions... Not to mention that Android has the App for it, where you can view coins coming in and out from your "paper" wallets without logging on with your private keys.
875  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC reach $300 this month? on: October 22, 2015, 03:47:55 AM
Seeing the recent price moving upwards, I am a bit optimistic about btc reaching till $280 or so, but I don't think price can continue being stable after that. What are you guys' opinion on this?

I think it will reach more than $300 this month.
It will be $500.

You are crazy... This will never happen because the resistance is too strong even at $275 right now, not to mention when/if it hits an even $300.  I mean I wouldn't even understand someone wanting this to happen anyways... If a super mega pump happens that sky rockets the price to $500, there will be a very quick and HUGE dumpage back down below $250 and possibly $200 again.
876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 22, 2015, 02:21:42 AM

Do you think the governments will purpose a way to have a "mandatory" re-distribution of wealth and take XMR from people like us who are currently investing in monero as of right now?

Yes, they're called taxes.  Grin

I am expecting to pay heavy taxes on any fortune I make as a result of Monero increasing in value 1,000x to 100,000x from its current levels.

At that point, I will probably become very bitter, start quoting Ayn Rand, and fill my Facebook feed with a nerdy mutation of the Dan Bilzerian lifestyle.  Money changes people.  Embrace what you have now while you are poor and genuine.  Wink

Hopefully I'll also fund that awesome retro video game company I dream of while I'm at it.  I want to rerelease a new 16-bit home system with slightly improved technology (think a love child between the Neo-Geo and the SNES) and extremely easy programming and licensing so anyone can release games for it.  Then I'll pay AAA companies to release brand new titles for it, including 16-bit ports of modern games.  All games will be flash cartridge based, not CD based.  I hope to not only get classics such as Shovel Knight, Castle in the Darkness, Mega Man 9, and Cave Story launched on it, but also I want to establish all new brands and icons synonymous with the PES.

I'm not finished.  We're gonna call it the Pegasus Entertainment System and release a monthly magazine filled with tricks, tips, and reviews of your favorite games.

I'm still not finished.  The pack-in title will be a self-titled Metroidvania where you have competing ficticious brands all trying to sell powerups.  These brands have stocks on a stock market and you buy/sell/trade them with coins you find.  In fact, in order to afford the most powerful upgrades in the game, you'll need to have the power of your investments and compound interest make you wealthy enough.  Also, you'll need to keep up with the in-game newspaper.  If one of your favorite powerup companies goes bankrupt, releases a shitty product, or has a corruption scandal, it could have game wide implications.

Finally we will be a non-profit video game company, that makes charitable donations with any excess funds that may acquire due to sales.   Cool Cool Cool

Hahaha, sign me up! When that time comes, I hope there will be the "classic" games that SNES came out with, with titles such as "baseball", "tennis", etc. etc. ... Oh and I hope when this does become a reality for you, that I could purchase a gaming console with a genuine autograph "To chennan, yours truly, AP".
877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 22, 2015, 01:42:02 AM
How is MoneroDice doing? I have not played there but am interested in hearing the usage stats if they can be shared

http://monerodice.pd.to/charts.php

Oh wow... -20,000+ XMR at one point.  That would be enough to have me sweating as an administrator for the site.  Though as long as it gets people using XMR and not holding it as an investment tool on polo then it's all good.
878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoin was a worst decision of my life on: October 22, 2015, 01:28:15 AM
I had bought some btc this year ,invested roi and converted into fiat, soo now ahead i collect my bitcoin from signatures and some others places, and i invest them all ,this wont make me rich but at the moment is the easy way to get an income without clicking ads, surfing websites or give my money to hyip admin soo bitcoin is changing my life to better these days.

Yep, I'd say this is the best way to generate an income for yourself, but the thread is more focused on dealing with the pain of buying at such a high price from earlier and losing half of your investments... But in general, with signatures, you could possibly make up for your loss... it'll take a lot of time, and effort... though in the long run you can make it back (and possibly even faster if you invest in the right places).

Just a side note of curiousity though... where do you invest?

Honestly, I have a better idea that has less risks and probably pays better (depending on the country you're in). It's called a job.

Seriously though - 0.5 a month is about $140 USD a month. If you can't make $4USD a day from your job - you're either in an extremely underdeveloped country (in which case how do you have access to the internet) or you're just too lazy.

As a side note - saying you can make X amount depending on risk is like saying you can make $100 million dollars from a lottery ticket. It's implicit that risk = reward - it's just whether the risk is worth it in proportion for the reward or are there better options elsewhere.

i totally agree. you have to list out the risk and probably % with the expected ROI. no pt saying your members profit is only limited to the top 1% where 99% fail.

Why you guys really believe in him? You can earn half of it by using signature campaign and you just need to find others by gambling slowly to get the rest so I dont think you guys should believe what he told you guys about buying and selling crypto because what I know this crypto is hard to raise if there are no chinese whale pump on it

It isn't hard to make .5 a month.  It is hard to make roughly 27.75 BTC per month.  I am not saying it is impossible it just doesn't happen that much I am guessing.  It is a large salary to have even if you are really good at your job and make a lot of money.

Yes, the cyphercromnicon was advocating the same: severely disruptive technologies must be released on an open and neutral basis and build up enough support before the-powers-that-be notice them as to be unstoppable.

We are going to see a future where the governments of the world literally won't be able to keep up with the changes enough to regulate them.

Already the entire playing field changes every few years.... this likely won't slow down until we reach breakneck speed.  Cryptocurrency is only going to accelerate this process faster.  We may face a situation in the 2030's where the playing field is changing in a matter of months or weeks.  Entire companies and technologies may rise and fall within a calendar year, and people will make and lose fortunes over the course of a single summer.

People who don't cultivate an open and curious mind will be forced to bury their heads in their pillows and accept the decisions made for them by the techno-elite, as dystopian as that sounds.

What do you all think about what's going to happen in the next 10-20 years if/when monero or another cryptocurrency becomes the foundation for a world currency that is established and has a very significant value to companies and businesses alike?  If people start using cryptos for their everyday purchases, and will be choosing to earn a salary in, let's say for the sake of this thread, XMR... Do you think the governments will purpose a way to have a "mandatory" re-distribution of wealth and take XMR from people like us who are currently investing in monero as of right now?

If we become the wealthy 1% in a world now accepting xmr everywhere, where would we go from there?
