This is one of the weakest point of Indian batting line up. Last match in quick interval the top 3 batsmen were out. 82/5 and still trails by 318 run,RSA is really in very bad situation at the moment hope there will be some resistance given by de kock who is still at the crease for RSA. The fate of South Africa is sealed, if the match goes to the fourth day then it will be a huge surprise and i am not expecting them to score 200 runs from this situation, this is the final series for Vernon Philander and they are not able to perform is really sad as he bowled South Africa to many victories and looking at the recent troubles they need to find some players from the domestic circuit and give them the exposure during these situations rather than sticking to players who are not performing series after series. At the end of first session, England has made 300/7 and they may get a total of somewhere around 350-360. Yeah, Rahul and Kohli already are close to 100 runs in the 9th over itself. Just 103-104 more runs to get which is possible if they continue at this rate. Edit: 105 runs thanks to Rahul's 6. India lost Kohli as well for 45 which means back to back wickets of set batman may put India under pressure. As expected Pant is not in the side and Middle order of team India is not that experienced . So if Nz can get quick wickets in starting they can easily wrap Indian innings or restrict them easily . New Zealand started their batting and it all depends upon how much they can score and if they are able to put a big score on the board then it will be a challenge for the inexperienced middle order, either way i am expecting a good battle as the stadium is filled with Indian fans which will be an added advantage for India to have supporters in the stadium. To have a chance of win, Sri Lanka needs a total of around 500. Any total below that, the match will end up as a draw.
This could end in a draw since I am expecting Zimbabwe to perform well in the 2nd innings too since Sri Lankan bowling has been pretty horrible for sometime now. Ervine and Taylor are the key batsmen in my opinion. Matthews is leadings from the front and batting at 92 runs . SL will take a lead in first innings as they just trail now by 63 runs and 6 wickets in hand . Zimbabwe bowling is not that effective and I doubt they would be able to bat again the same like first innings .
I was honestly stunned to see Zimbabwe post such a big total in the 1st innings which simply goes to show the horrible state that Sri Lanka is in at the moment. Their batsmen are doing well though and I am expecting Angelo to help post a decent lead. Matthew has completed his century and batting at 129. SL now just trail by 12 runs and 5 wickets in hand.
