8681  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help Required - Can't Spend Coins (lost??) on: August 09, 2017, 06:51:42 AM
Hoping someone can help, I am having major issues with my Electrum wallet (v.2.9.0 on Windows10).   Back at the end of July I created a new wallet from seed, sent the contents of an online wallet to my electrum wallet and everything seemed OK, coins appeared as expected etc.

On Friday I came to send these coins back to an exchange and find that hitting the send or preview buttons did not do anything i.e. no response other than to change colour.  So I seem unable to send anything from this wallet.
When you say, "change colour"... do you mean the button changed colour or the input box where you type the amount you want to send changed colour?

If you are attempting to send the whole balance, it may be that you can't due to not having enough funds to then pay the fee as well (Electrum adds the fee on, it doesn't subtract it)... What happens if you click the "max" button?

Is this a standard, MultiSig or 2FA wallet? It should say in the title bar... something like: "Electrum 2.9.0 - wallet_Name [standard]" or "Electrum 2.9.0 - wallet_name [2fa]".

Also, if you goto "Wallet -> Seed", does Electrum ask for your password and then show the seed?
8682  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: offline signing of BCC transaction using normal (non-BCC) Electrum on: August 09, 2017, 06:42:13 AM
TLDR: Is it possible for Electrum to sign unsigned transactions created by Electrum Cash?
TLDR: No.

Long Version:
The BCC devs changed the SIGHASH algorithm for BCC to provide 2-way replay protection... so a BCC transaction is not valid on BTC network... and a BTC transaction is not valid on BCC network.

This has already proven "problematic" for peeps with Electrum 2FA wallets, who created ElectronCash 2FA wallets (using the Electrum 2FA seed) and attempted to spend coins. TrustedCoin doesn't support BCC, so they were signing the transaction as a BTC transaction and the BCC network would then reject the transaction (wrong SIGHASH).

This is effectively the same situation that you're describing... attempting to sign a BCC transaction (from Electron Cash) with a BTC sig (from Electrum)

Also, just to help avoid confusion, the BCC wallet that was forked from Electrum is now called "Electron Cash"
8683  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Send from one address, pay fee from different address? on: August 09, 2017, 06:33:44 AM
Generally, a wallet will just find inputs that add up to (at least) the amount you want to send+calculated fee... Which inputs are used is dependent on how the wallet is designed. Some will try to minimise the number of inputs to minimise transaction size by selecting the largest available inputs until the required amount is reached. Some wallets prefer to use oldest inputs first. Or, as mentioned above, some wallets allow you to choose the coins you want to use.

Anything left over, gets returned as change. Where the change ends up, is dependent on how your wallet works. Some wallets return it to one of the addresses used as an input. Some wallets create a new (change) address and put the change there. Some wallets let you choose if you want to use change addresses or not.

I'm not quite sure what it is that you're attempting to achieve by "sending a whole coin from one address and pay fee from another address"? Are you concerned that if you have say 1.0 BTC in addressA, and 0.001BTC in addressB that you want to use as fee and you want to send 1.0 BTC to your friend... that it will only let you send 0.999 BTC from AddressA after taking the 0.001 BTC fee from addressA?

With Electrum if you just put 1.0 BTC in the amount to send... it will add the fee on to the amount you're trying to send... it won't subtract it. So it would just use 1.0 from addressA and 0.001 from addressB... send 1.0 to your friend and use the 0.001 as fee.

The only time that this might not happen is if the amount you want to send+fee is greater than the wallet balance.
8684  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory Wallet problem on: August 09, 2017, 05:16:26 AM
Basically, you need to download Bitcoin Core, install it and let it sync up the entire blockchain... Note: This will require a lot of time and around 140Gigs or so of harddrive space...

Actual time to sync is dependent on your CPU, HDD and internet connection... but it will most likely be measured in days. Undecided
8685  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Google cloud wallet on: August 09, 2017, 04:19:47 AM
Why don't you just create a new Electrum wallet (or whatever BTC wallet you're using)... ie. new seed/private keys... send all your BTC there.

Import old BTC seed/keys into Electron Cash to get BCC... if they steal your keys, then only your BCC is at risk as BTC is safely on different keys.
8686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Xapo and BCH on: August 09, 2017, 04:15:39 AM
Hello pals,
I'm using Xapo wallet and before fork they sent to users this message via email:
Quote
Xapo will give you the choice to withdraw the coins in the secondary blockchain or to let Xapo sell the coins in that secondary blockchain and automatically add that value to your account in the supported blockchain. There is no estimated date as to when this will be determined, as it will be only when we deem it safe and sensible to do so.

I undertood that the fact they will give us the choice to either withdraw our BCH or convert it to BTC but, today we are 8 august and I still can't see any option to do that. What to do guys?

Seems pretty clear that your only option is to continue to wait until Xapo "deem it safe and sensible" to do something... If you're super anxious to know... have you considered contacting Xapo and asking them? Huh
8687  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is the Bitcoin Core blockchain compatible with BitcoinABC? on: August 09, 2017, 04:03:37 AM
Ok I get it. Unfortunately I opened my Bitcoin Core post-fork so I will need to generate the chainstate folder inside the BitcoinABC client. Any way to calculate how much time that takes given your CPU specifications?
Not really...

Quote
Also, should I send all of my coins to another wallet before copy-pasting the wallet.dat into the BitcoinABC folder? I heard this step improves security.
It provides protection from a "rouge" wallet... if it attempts to steal your keys, it will only be able to access your BCC... as all your BTC's will have been moved to different key(s)...

Quote
But im going to be wasting a ton of money in fees? I have got a ton of small 20 dollar-ish payments across years and I dont want to link my entire wallet into a single transaction... this is an huge problem. It could take me ages to move everything independently to maintain privacy.
Well that is something you need weigh up... fees vs. time vs. privacy vs. security. You don't have to move your BTC if you trust BitcoinABC. You don't have to spend the time or the fees if you just move them all in one go.
8688  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Anyone used Electron Cash Successfully? on: August 09, 2017, 03:49:18 AM
If it is a 2FA wallet... you're not going to be able to spend them anyway, as TrustedCoin does not support BCC... so you won't be able to get them to sign any transactions you make.

To use your Electrum 2FA wallet on Electron Cash, you need to restore in Electron Cash using your 2FA seed and select "DISABLE" when prompted during the restore process:

That should enable you to then spend your BCC from Electron Cash (as it restores 2 master private keys onto your PC, so you can sign the transactions with 2 keys without needing TrustedCoin).

If it is showing up as unconfirmed, and showing the BTC transfer, then it sounds like Electron Cash is currently connected to BTC network and not the BCC network... Go into the network settings and see what server it is connected to.

If the blockchain you're connected to shows a number much higher than: 478818 (like ~479750), then you are connected to BTC network.

I can start Electron Cash 2.9.2 with a server specified at the command line, and it will show the correct BCC balance but I can't send.

"your client produced a transaction that is not acceptable to the network anymore"
Are you using a 2FA (or MultiSig) wallet by any chance? It sounds like the transaction is not being signed correctly... so the network is rejecting it.
8689  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory Wallet problem on: August 09, 2017, 03:39:22 AM
ahhhh... that's the "wallet format" version number... NOT the application version number Wink

I see you are on 0.96... you should try upgrade to 0.96.1 from here: https://btcarmory.com/0.96.1-release/

FYI, BitcoinArmory "changed hands"... the old company (using the bitcoinarmory.com site) no longer maintains or supports Armory... it is all being looked after by goatpig now... and the new URL is btcarmory.com.

Additionally, you do realise that you need to be running a Bitcoin Core node right? Armory uses the block files from a full node to build it's database...It isn't a "light" wallet like Electrum.
8690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Very odd BTC problem, need the experts help! on: August 09, 2017, 03:34:46 AM
Once you have updated the location, you'll need to restart Armory, before the setting takes effect.

Shut down Armory and then before you start it again, make sure there are no instances of ArmoryQT or ArmoryDB running... start Task Manager (right click on the Taskbar and select "Task Manager")... make sure that you don't see ArmoryQT or ArmoryDB in the list of Apps or Background Processes.

If you do, kill them all... then restart Armory.

If it still isn't working properly... repost your logs Wink
8691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Very odd BTC problem, need the experts help! on: August 09, 2017, 12:14:23 AM
Your Bitcoin Core does NOT appear to be installed in the default location:
Quote
2017-08-08 19:01:15 (ERROR) -- BDM.pyc:276 - setSatoshiDir: directory does not exist: C:\Users\burdm\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin\

Open up Bitcoin Core... goto "Help -> Debug Window -> Information"... what does it say for "Datadir"?

8692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My Bitcoin-QT wallet and my Exodus wallet seem to 'know' each other? on: August 08, 2017, 11:58:09 PM
dumpprivkey doesn't remove the key/address from the wallet... it is imported and is there "forever"... unless the OP has backups prior to import and/or wants to risk using a util like PyWallet (which I'm fairly certain doesn't even work with recent versions of wallet.dat)
8693  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core Wallet hasn't synced since fork on: August 08, 2017, 11:51:45 PM
Did you happen to install BitcoinABC at all? I believe that if you use the default settings during install, it will install to the default BitcoinCore directory... If you installed it and opened it, it may have messed up your Bitcoin Core install Undecided
8694  Other / MultiBit / Re: Unconfirmed amount unable to move to new wallet on: August 08, 2017, 11:45:39 PM
Hey, thanks for the beer! Wink Now... if only there was a bar around here that accepted bitcoin! Tongue
8695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Very odd BTC problem, need the experts help! on: August 08, 2017, 11:31:35 PM
Can you post your logs from armorylog.txt (it will be in your C:\users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Armory directory)... Post them to http://www.pastebin.com and then post the link here!

Note: if you can't see AppData, you will need to set Explorer to show hidden files and folders: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files
8696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Very odd BTC problem, need the experts help! on: August 08, 2017, 11:11:47 PM
So can you confirm:

1. You shutdown Bitcoin Core
2. You set Armory to "Let Armory run Bitcoin Core/bitcoind in the background"... and left the boxes blankd?
3. You restarted Armory (NOTE: Leave Bitcoin Core shutdown!)

It will take a number of minutes for Armory to get everything setup... and while it is doing this it will probably say "Node Offline".

You're running on windows correct?
8697  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: What to write into blockchain.info to see balance of Electrum wallet? Please on: August 08, 2017, 11:05:48 PM
Just FYI, the only BCH explorers that I have found so far are:

Blockdozer: http://blockdozer.com/insight/
Blockchair: https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/blocks
BitInfoCharts: https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin%20cash/explorer/

And a wee tip about the "Addresses" tab in Electrum (and possibly Electron Cash as well)... you may need to expand the "Used" section to see the Address(es) involved in transactions... click the ">" symbol so it becomes a "v" and you should see the addresses you're after Wink
8698  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: August 08, 2017, 10:57:44 PM
Given the obvious success of the service... I'd guess that the secret is "volume"... but that's a guess.

Besides, I think you'd be quite surprised. For most of the help that I've given members, I operate on a "Pay what you think it's worth" system... I've helped several people who have trusted me with wallets/seeds etc to help them try and rescue their coins... and have had full access to multiple bitcoins. I have moved the total balance to a wallet of their choosing... and let them decide what they want to tip. For the most part, they've all been extremely generous. Wink

I've also had several users who just wanted to tip after I provided advice or help when I didn't have access to anything. It's not like I've got so much that I can pretend like I won the lottery... but let's just say I have plenty of coins for beer and coffee! Cheesy
8699  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bitcoin disappeared from Electrum Wallet? I may have helped :( on: August 08, 2017, 12:11:36 PM
During installation of wallets 3 and 4  there was an option for MH/ Huh?  I just left that the way it was, maybe I have created the error?
If you were asked for the derivation path m/44'/0'/0' etc... then you must have clicked the "Options" button and then checked the "BIP39 seed" box. DO NOT do this if you are using Electrum seeds. While it will import them OK, Electrum by default DOES NOT using BIP39 seeds. It has it's own system that is not compatible with BIP39.

Just: "File -> New/Restore -> Standard wallet -> I already have a seed". Put your electrum seed words in and click next.

When you created the BTC wallet 2... did you get a brand new seed for it? Or did you just do a restore?
8700  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: NEED HELP WITH ELECTRUM WALLET BCC on: August 08, 2017, 11:54:56 AM
i have update my electrum wallet to electrum cash wallet and tha new address is 1PzLpAxMLdCTkSXEWJ9yhgij5o3McztKTc  i can see the transaction on the blockchain but in my wallet it is nothing !
Can you please provide the transaction ID of the transaction where suprnova supposedly sent you your bcash? It seems like you are a bit confused as to what address your payment from suprnova was sent to.

If you post the txid we'll be able to look it up on the BCH blockchain and tell you where exactly your BCH has been sent...
