9661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed outbound transaction with change messing wallet balance on: May 19, 2017, 08:45:29 AM
Most likely it shows Y as that is what your wallet contains as unspent UTXOs... then, it gets around to scanning the mempools and finding the new unconfirmed transaction and goes "Oh... we sent out transaction ABC, with change X.. better alter the balance to reflect that"... and you end up seeing Balance Z.

If you go to the "Transactions" tab immediately after starting the wallet and seeing Balance Y... is the unconfirmed transaction already showing? or does it "appear" and then you see Balance Z?

9662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Please help , confirm my transaction ! on: May 19, 2017, 08:39:35 AM
Seems that your transaction has dropped from most of the mempools... it isn't on blockchain.info, blockr.io, btc.com or live.blockcypher.com... and I can't see it on my full node. The only explorer I could find it on is blocktrail.com...

Your coins should end up back in your wallet soon I would think... unless your wallet (or another node) rebroadcasts the transaction... next time, don't use such a low fee (120 sat/byte when the recommended is 300+) Wink
9663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Please help me to confim my txid on: May 19, 2017, 08:28:34 AM
It works fine, you don't need to have a mining contract or be part of the viabtc mining pool... the only issue is that they only allow 100 txes per hour to be submitted. Given that there are well over 150,000 unconfirmed transactions, every man and his brother is trying to use the tool, so it gets overloaded very quickly

The best time to submit is when they reset the tx count right at the start of the hour (ie. in the first 10 seconds! Wink )
9664  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum customer support on: May 19, 2017, 07:50:27 AM
Your 2nd fee is fine... however, it is spending an output from the 1st unconfirmed transaction 921bbe72909d8fd01c61735ad9d607cab816317f483ce99a7383874bb8a4d757 which is VERY large and only has a fee of around 49 sats/byte...

until that transaction confirms, there is ZERO chance your 2nd transaction with the decent fee will confirm. I'd suggest trying to accelerate that unconfirmed transaction first using the ViaBTC TX accelerator... Once it is confirmed, then your 2nd transaction with the nice 327 sat/byte fee should get a confirmation relatively quickly after that...

Note: You haven't done a double spend... you've attempted a "Child Pays For Parent"... and unfortunately, the two fees combined, don't make a great overall fee:

2439 bytes (1st trans) + 226 bytes (2nd trans) = 2665 bytes total...
0.0012 btc (1st trans) + 0.00074038 btc (2nd trans) = 0.00194038 btc = 194038 sats...

Overall Fee = 194038 sats / 2665 bytes = 72.8 sats/byte  Undecided

EDIT: I managed to accelerate the 921bbe72909d8fd01c61735ad9d607cab816317f483ce99a7383874bb8a4d757 transaction using ViaBTC... hopefully they'll mine a block soon and it will get confirmed. Once that happens, the 2nd one should get confirmed pretty quickly with a 327 sat/byte fee Wink
9665  Other / MultiBit / Re: can some one help me? on: May 19, 2017, 07:41:27 AM
Does it look like this (Classic):

or this (HD):

I'm going to go ahead and guess that due to your use of the term "reset blockchain", that it looks like the first one and you have "MultiBit Classic"... If that is that case, when did you receive the 0.77 BTC that are now missing... was it to a new address generated from just before the power outage?

It is possible that the power outage may have caused damage to your wallet file... Sad
9666  Other / MultiBit / Re: Locked out of my account on: May 18, 2017, 10:06:41 PM
You signed in? are you a ViaBTC (cloud) mining pool member or something? I've never signed in...

To import, you will need to create a new wallet... you cant import a key into a seed based wallet
9667  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: HELP! Stuck unconfirmed for 7 days! Electrum wallet! on: May 18, 2017, 10:17:14 AM
Geez! What could of caused it in the first place? How can I avoid that again?
Probably the 150,000+ unconfirmed transactions in the mempool... and the massive fees needed to get transactions confirmed these days...

Without seeing what the original TX was, it is hard to say what was wrong with it... My first guess would be the fees were too low (Make sure you're running the latest version of Electrum v2.8.2 and that you have dynamic fees enabled in the preferences).

Another option could be that you were spending unconfirmed outputs from previous transactions... or it was a double spend...
9668  Other / MultiBit / Re: can some one help me? on: May 18, 2017, 10:12:48 AM
MultiBit Classic or MultiBit HD?
9669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can a miner help confirm my transaction? on: May 18, 2017, 10:00:33 AM
I've tried the free option, but I get this message - 'Your remaining Customer-Only use: 0 Times' and I've tried emailing them for the paid service but no response to my email which was sent about 14 hours ago. Any other options?
If you're seeing that "Customer-Only" message... it means you've created an account... which is only supposed to be for ViaBTC mining pool customers... don't login or sign up... just goto the page... put your TXID in the box, enter the captcha and click submit...
9670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: are these transactions spending from unconfirmed transactions? on: May 18, 2017, 09:58:54 AM
Goto the blockchain.info link... Then click the section that says "Show scripts & coinbase"

The page will refresh and you'll be able to see which inputs are "Unconfirmed"... marked with red "U"...

you can click the matching "Output" link to see the transaction that this unconfirmed output is from... and so on and so on... all the way down the rabbit hole... for the record, one of those three chains of unconfirmed transactions is very long... About 12 transactions... Undecided
9671  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Another stuck bitcoin post. A month on, any idea's on this beauty? on: May 18, 2017, 08:39:41 AM
The reason why they're not coming back to your wallet is that something keeps rebroadcasting your transaction...

First seen: Wednesday, May 3rd 2017, 5:40:44 +12:00
Relay time: Thursday, May 18th 2017, 8:58:00 +12:00

So either your wallet is rebroadcasting... or someone is trolling you Tongue

Surprised that the ViaBTC thing didn't work... I've had pretty decent luck with it... if the "free" one isn't working... they now offer a 0.01 BTC paid "donation" service... you need to email support@viatbtc.com

I tried to get a quote from the btc.com push service... and it said that it was a "double spend" transaction? I'm wondering if that is why ViaBTC didn't work? Huh

EDIT: Got your transaction accelerated using the ViaBTC accelerator... maybe third time's a charm? Tongue #fingersCrossed

EDIT2: And now you have 41 confirmations thanks to ViaBTC... #youAreWelcome  Wink Grin
9672  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet on: May 18, 2017, 08:16:37 AM
Classic hasn't been updated in a LONG time... and as such, it's maximum "default" fee is really low by todays standards... Sad

If the transaction is still showing on block explorers, and the fee was > 10 sats/byte, hit up the ViaBTC TX Accelerator to try and get it confirmed. If the transaction has been dropped from the network (ie. it isn't showing on ANY blockexplorer) The coins should have been returned to your MultiBit Classic wallet.

If you really need to get them out, you could export the keys from your MultiBit Classic wallet and import them into a new Electrum wallet (select "Use Public and Private keys" option when creating) and then send them from that wallet to an address in your main Electrum wallet with "proper" fees.

Complicated and annoying, but with the current state of the network, anything you do with MultiBit Classic is probably going to get stuck Sad
9673  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Transaction unconfirmed since 9 a.m. yesterday (27 hours ago) on: May 18, 2017, 08:08:10 AM
Have you tried submitting your transaction at the ViaBTC TX Accelerator? You need to submit it right on the top of the hour in the first few seconds... as they only accept 100 txes per hour...

Of course, if you can't wait then CPFP is an option... To do CPFP you should just have to right click on the struck transaction and select the appropriate option. CPFP is only available if one of the outputs of the stuck transaction is going to an address your wallet controls (like a change address).

Note: you may need to make sure you're on the latest version of Electrum (2.8.2) if the dynamic fees aren't showing up proper amounts... there were bugs in older versions...
9674  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Insanely high miner fees on: May 18, 2017, 08:00:47 AM
No matter how big or small the amount you are going to transact, The fee still a percentage of the total amount so can't save fees by just sending in bulk. The best way to avoid expensive fee of bitcoin is to change currency. Ethereum is more faster and cheaper compare to bitcoin. And many site are already adapted this currency.
Well that is just wrong... the fee is not a percentage of the total amount at all... in fact, it has NOTHING to do with the amount of bitcoins you are trying to move.

Miner's Fees are measured in "satoshis per byte"... it is the data size of the transaction that is important. If you have a transaction involving 1 input and 1 output, it could be as small as 192 bytes... you could send some HUGE amount like 1000 BTC... and you'd only need to pay 192 * whatever the current recommended fee is... so if it was like today and 450 sats/byte... you'd want to pay 192 * 450 = 86400 sats = 0.00086400 BTC.

However, if you were collecting all your faucet dust and had 15 inputs and 1 output, your transaction would likely be closer to 2250 bytes... so to send your 0.01 BTC of faucet dust you'd be paying 2250 * 450 = 1,018,800 sats = 0.01018800 BTC... that's right, you'd be paying MORE in fees than what you are trying to send...

Paying in bulk helps reduce "some" of the overhead of numerous inputs/outputs... and it will certainly reduce the number of change addresses/UTXOs that you generate... but if you collect dust, you're going to get slammed sooner or later...
9675  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Unofficial] Exodus Wallet | Multi-Currency | Built-in Exchange on: May 18, 2017, 07:41:20 AM
Full credit to them for being open and honest and quick to respond. They obviously have their target audience... and I'm not it, I can respect that. Wink
9676  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Why does the electrum install wizard keep coming up on: May 18, 2017, 04:44:27 AM
You'll probably find that it is because this time you left the "Encrypt Wallet" option checked when setting the wallet password. If the wallet is encrypted, you need the password to decrypt it before the program can read it Wink

if it isn't encrypted, the main interface comes up straight away, but you obviously need the password to sign transactions etc (keys are always encrypted, regardless of whether or not the wallet file is)

If you goto: Wallet -> Password... put in a new password and uncheck the "Encrypt Wallet" and then restart, you'll find it won't come up with the "Install Wizard" Wink
9677  Other / MultiBit / Re: 8 days in limbo on: May 18, 2017, 04:36:09 AM
For the record, the e91404a42ea2b86a6f81fb674dd1e549fdcc8d4401529c1712d2d7d3c75e8e0d transaction is spending the output from the other unconfirmed transaction 09b7ce65b6a4136b31f53a356433b1594122e978fe356de23b9447c65985b9b1

so the 09b7 one will need to be accelerated first... The other one won't be accepted by the accelerator until the first one confirms...

Keep stalking the accelerator and try to submit your tx in the first couple of seconds of a new hour... Wink
9678  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Traumatic brain injury has left me with multiple seed phrases please help! on: May 17, 2017, 09:58:21 AM
Your transaction uses a fee of only: Fee per byte 136.181 sat/B

Given that recommended fees are well in excess of 200 sat/Byte... that transaction probably isn't going to confirm any time soon:
The current best transaction fees 252 Satoshis/byte | 0.00252 BTC/KB
The fastest and cheapest transaction fee is currently 450 satoshis/byte, shown in green at the top.

Your options are RBF (Replace By Fee) if the wallet supports it... or CPFP (Child Pays For Parent) if you control either of the addresses that are sent outputs.... or you can attempt to hammer the ViaBTC TX Accelerator at the top of the hour and try to get in the first 100 txes submitted...

Good luck

EDIT: Because it was so close to the hour... I stalked the accelerator and got your transaction submitted Wink Hopefully when ViaBTC mine their next block your transaction will get included... should take less than 12 hours... I think they're currently averaging a block every 4-6 hours or something...
9679  Other / MultiBit / Re: Multibit classic - Unconfirmed transaction for two weeks on: May 17, 2017, 09:51:38 AM
Seems like the transaction has dropped from everywhere now... If you reset the blockchain within the wallet and wait... it will take a LONG time... I just clicked it, then opened the "messages" window...

So it looks like it is slowing crawling the blockchain looking for transactions... if yours does the same, it should eventually come back with all your coins and you can attempt a re-send... with a proper fee... be warned tho... fees are currently MASSIVE!

The current best transaction fees 252 Satoshis/byte | 0.00252 BTC/KB
The fastest and cheapest transaction fee is currently 450 satoshis/byte, shown in green at the top.

Good luck
9680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Traumatic brain injury has left me with multiple seed phrases please help! on: May 17, 2017, 09:38:16 AM
I did find one 24 word phrase paper that only has 4 numbers on it not in the xxxx/xx format.  Its just 4 numbers.   And of course its the easiest to read so Ill try that next and hope it works.
Don't worry so much about the datestamp... it isn't actually required... it is just a shortcut to speed up syncing your wallet by starting to search the blockchain from the beginning of the day that your wallet was created. If you don't put a datestamp in, it just starts from the genesis block Wink

I should have updated my bitcoin core as I haven't used it in a whole.   I forgot to up my miner fees and my transaction was stuck  the transaction after that confirmed within minutes.
I ran -zapwallet and the transaction is gone and the BTCs in my account.  You be done the research one it but I have one question.
I was sending it to Coinbase.  They have it received on my account with 0 conf.
I ahohd not try to put it through again with higher miner fees as Cohnbaase transmute too as a full node correct?
If I put another trans through then consbase will show both transactions.
I should wait until morening at least?
I can't really decypher what has happened here... but I'm guessing you had 1 transaction that confirmed OK and 1 transaction that got stuck due to low fees... You then ran -zapwallettxes and it removed the unconfirmed transaction from your wallet.

The problem will be that the transaction may still be in the mempool of various nodes (likely to stay there for at least 48-72 hours)... I wouldn't put another transaction through just yet... most nodes will reject it as a double spend anyway.

Keep checking the txid on the various block explorers until it disappears... or it confirms. Either way, you should be good to go.
