9321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Send all Coins, transaction is stuck, what to do? on: June 10, 2017, 05:42:39 AM
I just send all my coins (thinking my "auto fee" is turned on" ) and yeah.... now all my coins are stuck with the minimum fee of 0.0002 Cheesy I know about the common ways to handle it like "child pays for parent" and doublespend. But i dont got any coins left, is there any way to get them back? are they lost forever?
Firstly... No, they're not lost forever... if the transaction doesn't confirm, the network will eventually drop your transaction and the coins will effectively be "re-spendable" by your wallet (assuming your wallet isn't useless Tongue)

Second... There is a possibility you could do a "Replace-by-fee" transaction if your wallet supports it (as it uses the original inputs and just reduces the output amount to bump up the fee). Also, were you sending the coins to yourself? or someone else? There is still a possibility that you could do a "Child Pays For Parent" if you own one of the output addresses...

If "RBF" or "CPFP" is not an option, then the fallback is the ViaBTC TX Accelerator... It is busy, and they only provide 100 slots per hour, so you need to submit right at the start of an hour. There are some other requirements (no dust outputs, no doublespend, no unconfirmed parents, minimum of 0.0001 BTC/kB fee)...

If you post your transaction ID here, we can also take a look and see if there is anything other than your fee that may stop it from getting confirmed.

Isn't Coinoimi only for android or am I missing something? They make it really easy to add coins which is cool..
They have a Windows desktop version in Beta testing right now...

I think you either forgot to paste the link... or the tags got messed up and ending up slicing out the image link...

it should be something like:

or just paste the link to the pic like this: http://imgur.com/1retcOO

9324  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can I delete an Electrum Wallet on: June 10, 2017, 05:18:33 AM
I think there is a bug cuz when there are no confirmations I got nothing when I clicked on the blue link.  Nothing opened up. Maybe it's a safari thing.  Now I got 489 confirmations.  When I click on that it takes me to BlockR and Hash which I'm assuming is the Tx id.
Correct, the "hash" is indeed the TXID.

CB has said they are having problems with a few things and their CS is soo freaking slow.   I think I'm just gonna keep some money there in case electrum decides to have problems.
Fair enough... I learned a long time ago the value of "If you don't control the private keys, you don't control the coins"... I don't trust web wallets and exchanges. I will use exchanges, but it is basically money in, money out... nothing stays in accounts that I don't have singular control over for any longer than absolutely necessary Tongue

Anyway. now where to spend my btc.
You can always spend your BTC at 1sendMeAllYourCoinzhahaJustJoking Cheesy Grin Tongue Wink

If you're in the US, eGifter.com lets you buy a whole array of giftcards with bitcoins... I've bought some Amazon gift cards from them Wink
9325  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Seuntjie' Dice bot programmers mode discussion. on: June 10, 2017, 05:12:18 AM
In relation to the dicebot? Nothing specific as far as I'm aware... They're just general gambling terms.

Prebet is generally the concept of betting at minimum bet while you wait for a certain condition to occur (like 5 losses in a row, or 4 odd numbers or a "high, low, high, low, high" pattern etc)... at which point you start betting at 'normal' amounts...

Bet factor? no idea to be honest... Not something I have seen in use.
9326  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Electrum vs Multibit (or other) for cold storage fork ready wallet? on: June 10, 2017, 05:04:01 AM
Assuming you have a computer in 10 years that can run Electrum from today... then sure... the maths doesn't change. Your seed will still decode to exactly the same start point, and (assuming you're using the matching version of Electrum) it will still be using the same "Derivation Path", so you end up in the same hallway, at the same door... and get the same addresses/keys. Smiley

Whether or not that version of Electrum will be able to sync to the network and update the balance is another story... but it will still be able to generate the keys and you could just import those into something else... (assuming, like you said, that BTC is still the same Wink )
9327  Other / MultiBit / Re: Unable to send BTC from my Multibit wallet to my own Bitstamp a/c on: June 10, 2017, 04:52:53 AM
IMPORTANT NOTE: Export your keys when your computer is offline. Disconnect from the internet etc and make sure you delete the unencrypted .key file when you are finished!!
Seriously, handle private keys with care!

Alright, so now that the over the top warning is out of the way, the best thing to do is backup the contents of the %appdata%/MultiBit directory.... #justInCase Wink

Then you should be able to just upgrade to 0.5.19 without too many bothers... I just downloaded the 0.5.19 installer from here: https://multibit.org/release-info/classic/v0.5.19.html
I ran it, and it installed and started using my existing wallet files... for some reason I only had MBC 0.5.18 running??!? Could of sworn I had 0.5.19! Tongue

Anyway, to export the keys... it is just: "Tools" -> "Export Keys"

You'll get the export keys pane come up... You must put your wallet password at the top... make a note of the location of the .key file (or pick one that you want by clicking the button)... and DO NOT password protect the file... ie. leave the password boxes at the bottom blank...

Then click the "Export private keys" button and you should get confirmation that it all worked...

You should then find your .key file can be opened in Notepad and should contain something similar to this:
Quote
# KEEP YOUR PRIVATE KEYS SAFE !
# Anyone who can read this file can spend your bitcoin.
#
# Format:
#   <Base58 encoded private key>[<whitespace>[<key createdAt>]]
#
#   The Base58 encoded private keys are the same format as
#   produced by the Satoshi client/ sipa dumpprivkey utility.
#
#   Key createdAt is in UTC format as specified by ISO 8601
#   e.g: 2011-12-31T16:42:00Z . The century, 'T' and 'Z' are mandatory

# End of private keys

The bits in red are the private keys in (compressed) "WIF" format... they should all start with a K or L (or if they are quite old, possibly a '5')... you don't need the date/time stamp on the end... You can then import them into Electrum either by copy/pasting the keys or by importing the file (Electrum will moan about all the other bits in the file... but it will still import the keys Wink

9328  Other / MultiBit / Re: Could not load wallet file: the error message was null on: June 10, 2017, 04:25:02 AM
Thank you HCP.

It was a real pain, but thanks to your scripts I was able to recover a fraction of a BTC that was sent to my Mutlibit 0.5.18 installation. And I couldn't access the wallet file anymore due to the error message
Firstly, you're welcome...

secondly, So you weren't able to get all of the coins from your wallet? Huh

I'm wondering if maybe my script is not finding all the UTXO's that it should... I am fairly sure it will only find "confirmed" coins... so if you had an inbound transaction that was unconfirmed, it won't have found any coins in that address and would not have put out the private key...

Let me know, and I can probably create a script that will just dump ALL the keys from the wallet... I should probably do that just to be safe I guess... Undecided
9329  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet unknown 0.005 on: June 09, 2017, 10:48:22 AM
It was right there when you signed up for 2FA that you're using an external service that charges a fee... "Electrum" isn't taking that fee... TrustedCoin is...

Quote from: TrustedCoin
What is your fee structure?
We charge 0.0005 BTC per transaction (roughly on par with default miner fees).
9330  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet unknown 0.005 on: June 09, 2017, 10:35:57 AM
Odd... I know Electrum supports "Pay To Many" transactions, and you can put multiple addresses into the box, but you have to specify the amount after the address for that to work.

Were you sending from a MultiSig address? or possibly a 2FA address? is it the fee being deducted by TrustedCoin?
9331  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How can I import password-protected backup from Multibit to Electrum? on: June 09, 2017, 09:25:12 AM
When you say password-protected... you mean you exported your private keys from MultiBit Classic and entered a password to encrypt the backup file right?

If so, then no... there is no way to just import that password protected file into Electrum. It was created by whatever method MBC choose to encrypt the file (Some AES256 derivative I believe). Why would you expect Electrum to be able to read it?

You need the unencrypted keys. You can import a file that contains a list of unencrypted keys. Technically, it should just be a plain file with one private key per line, but Electrum will even read in an unencrypted multibit export file... it'll just complain about all the comments and date and time stamps Tongue

NOTE: you won't be able to import a multibit file with all the comments when you first create the wallet... only if you select "Wallet" -> "Private Keys" -> "Import" once the wallet is already created

Also, you can not import private keys into an HD wallet. You have to create it as an old style keystore wallet as per the instructions here: http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/faq.html#can-i-import-private-keys-from-other-bitcoin-clients

If exporting non-password protected keys is not an option, you can decrypt the file you do have by following the instructions here: https://github.com/keepkey/multibit/wiki/Export%20and%20limited%20import%20of%20private%20keys#development-notes
9332  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet unknown 0.005 on: June 09, 2017, 08:46:24 AM
After 26 confirmations, I have not recieved the amount 0.0005. There is no adress such like this at my change list. I wonder where is the problem?
Have you tried clicking the little arrow next to "used"... as used change addresses are not displayed by default. Same with receive addresses.

After you click the arrow so it points down, the list of addresses is expanded and you can see all the used change addresses.

You can also goto the Console and type:

Code:
ismine("1EUokf7oC6e46PAknY18H2Fd4nb6EAvP8e")

If it says true... that is definitely in your wallet, the coins are there Wink
9333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to consolidate a wallet? on: June 09, 2017, 03:27:15 AM
Blockchain.info doesn't really crawl sites. You have to submit it manually. https://blockchain.info/tags. It will only appear on Blockchain.info.
Ahhh... I didn't know they had that... I just saw someone else bitching about having been tagged... and wanting it removed, so I thought it was automated.

I guess that maybe they got tagged by someone else before b.info decided you need to sign a message from the address you are trying to tag Wink
9334  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can I delete an Electrum Wallet on: June 09, 2017, 03:15:38 AM
Oh, I totally agree with you. That is pretty crap to be honest... From what I can gather, you SHOULD be able to find it once you click on the transaction from your list of transactions, it should show a "0 confirmations" link in blue... clicking on that should show you the actual transaction details (possibly on a block explorer?)... and you should be able to get TXID

It seems like Coinbase has some issues.  There is a user in another thread where Coinbase are completely misrepresenting the amount of bitcoins transacted/used as a fee... like, the value they claim was taken is less than half of what actually got taken and I can't figure out how it was calculated as it doesn't match the inputs or outputs of the transaction. Huh

I would hope it is just a minor UI glitch... but... Undecided
9335  Other / MultiBit / Re: Unable to send BTC from my Multibit wallet to my own Bitstamp a/c on: June 09, 2017, 03:00:30 AM
Like I said... you don't really need to open them anyway... just back them up some place safe...

If you are really keen to open them... just open up Notepad first, then drag and drop the file into Notepad.
9336  Other / MultiBit / Re: Unable to send BTC from my Multibit wallet to my own Bitstamp a/c on: June 09, 2017, 02:52:10 AM
They're not really designed to be opened by clicking on them... But you should be able to open them with a text editor like Notepad if you really want to. Right click and select "Open With"... then you'll probably need to click "Show More Apps"... and you can select Notepad from the list. You'll probably just get a whole bunch of "gobbledygook" like this:

org.multibit.walletProtect.2 ZYour wallet description`h

NOTE: Make sure you UNTICK the box that says "Always use this app to open .xxxx files"... otherwise your wallet files will be associated with Notepad permanently... not the end of the world, but not ideal.

But if you save all of those folders like key-backup, rolling-backup, wallet-backup and wallet-unenc-backup and everything in them... you've pretty much backed up everything you need. The multitbit.wallet file in the %AppData%/MultiBit directory is the only other file you really want.
9337  Other / MultiBit / Re: Unconfirmed transaction in my wallet on: June 09, 2017, 02:44:28 AM
Ok, so you installed MultiBit HD and input your 12 word seed... and all the coins are showing as unconfirmed. That is a fairly common issue with MultiBit HD unfortunately Sad

However, the good news is that it doesn't mean the coins are lost... it is really just a display issue with MultiBit HD.

I assume you have already tried "Manage Wallet" -> "Repair Wallet"?

Also check "Tools" -> "Verify Network" and makes sure Peer Count is >= 10 and Blocks Left = 0
9338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Seuntjie' Dice bot programmers mode discussion. on: June 09, 2017, 01:24:27 AM
bethigh = true -- does what it says, it bets "high"
bethigh = false -- does the opposite, it will bet "low"

there is no such thing as "betlow" Wink

To stop after loss, you need to track the "profit"...

Code:
...
startBalance = balance
runprofit = 0
...
function dobet()
  ...
  runprofit = balance - startBalance
  if runProfit <= -0.003 then  -- 0.003 BTC loss
    nextbet = 0
    stop()
  end

end
9339  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Incorrect bitcoin transfer amount from coinbase on: June 09, 2017, 01:13:15 AM
That is a very misleading UI. That figure of -0.00119767 BTC makes no sense to me...  Huh

There is no combination of inputs/outputs in your transaction that make up that number? And that certainly isn't the amount that would have been take from your account.

The total of the inputs was: 0.00266313 BTC

The total output to your 39GwH address was: 0.00010000 BTC
and then some change to your coinbase acc: 0.00003752 BTC

Everything else got gobbled up as "Network Fees": 0.00252561 BTC

End result being that you would have got 0.0001 in your Electrum wallet, and your Coinbase wallet would have had 0.00262561 BTC total deducted from the balance (0.00266313 total inputs - 0.00003752 change returned)

I would recommend that you keep that screenshot and send it to Coinbase support and ask them politely to "Please Explain"... because something is messed up there.
9340  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Cannot spend full electrum balance? on: June 09, 2017, 12:57:48 AM
In the past the network usually forgot transactions after three days, but something's recently changed and people are sometimes waiting weeks for a confirmation. That high fee might seem a rip off, but it's preferable to having your coins stuck in limbo for weeks.
The default timeout for a transaction got changed from 72 hours (3 days) to 336 hours (14 days) in Bitcoin Core:

https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/commit/a72f76ca3d5d2f259d308f65810891389f728e9e

This became more apparent when the number of unconfirmed transactions spiked up over 150,000... more and more low fee transactions were left in the pool for longer and longer periods of time.

NOTE: This value can be changed with a commandline parameter (-mempoolexpiry), but chances are a lot of nodes are being run with default options, so it is quite possible for a transaction to get held for 14 days.
