8781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: EMC2 token burn 6th OCT on: October 03, 2017, 01:41:16 PM
Ah, no wonder there was all that volume on exchanges today, even top 5 almost for some. Price will of course increase because of this news, but believe me, when all your 999 confirmations make it through, your sells are going to burn it all down. The days of burning tokens to improve price are not gone yet, but nearly over. No one was going to buy such artificial pumpings for very long.
8782  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ELIXIR (Timereum 2.0) Speculation on: October 03, 2017, 11:13:00 AM
This coin is very undervalued,  I think it's going to be sky high soon.

I agree!! It's only been a little bit over a week since I posted this and it has went nearly 10x so far. It's still very undervalued and not to late to get into. Everybody is comparing this project to the SALT projext and that is currently trading at $5.

I don't follow the SALT development but I will say this, Elixir has the hardest working devs that I have ever seen. They are working around the clock and consistently making progress while taking the time to answer questions and keep the community well informed.

The project is gaining more and more attention everyday and it won't be long until it really takes off. Buy now while it is cheap. If it nears the value of Salt project, you're looking at another 10x easily.

I was just going to say that this was not the first lending token and then you came out and said it! Anyway, I highly doubt that this dev team can take it all the way to $5, no matter how hard they work. It is always tough to beat the first mover, even if you have superior tech. Your biggest obstacle is always adoption. Look at Bitcoin! People laugh at how clunky it is but it is still king. Elixir is just going to have to work their butts off to prove themselves. I am not in this one,,, too expensive!
8783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: To bounty or not to bounty? on: October 03, 2017, 09:04:02 AM
Ok, guys: one question does not leave me peace. Actually there are 3 questions

-  is a bounty manager such an important "thing" for an ICO?
-  What are bonty managers actually do, what the founder and the project team can not reach? Do they have "magical" contacts with money, do they type advertisings faster than anybofy else, have they created the "right" community and what is on their communities so different to all numerios forums in internet?
-  And in case a bounty manager really makes sense, how to distinguish the "good" one from the "ivel"?

-Yes it is. But you should do it on your own instead of outsourcing it, unless it is just short term or you do not have expertise. You also want an experienced one, not an amateur. Badly run campaign means bad reputation.
-Bounty managers just take care of tedious tasks like ensuring people post/tweet/like the way they're supposed to and have good quality posts. You as a dev should focus on building your coin not on counting posts.
-Feedback. Check out their past work. See profile> post history. See feedback on trust.
8784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty campaign, that pays doge, eth or similar on: October 03, 2017, 07:54:32 AM
Look very hard in the Service section and you might find some campaigns that pay out in ETH. There is one service (Nexchange) that offered to pay $5 to beta testers for trying out their platform, and they paid it out in the currency that you used to exchange (which is currently in Dogecoins, Ethereum or Litecoins).

But why not just earn in bitcoin and exchange it out to your preferred alt?
8785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Possible and Profitable to Mine Ethereum with Desktop? on: October 03, 2017, 07:21:05 AM
Judging from some of the beginner guides that you can find out there and even a few on this forum itself, the short answer is yes, it is still possible and profitable to mine ethereum with a desktop. However, if you have an existing desktop and want to use it to mine ETH, you probably will not make any money (you might get some ETH but your bills will crash your profit).

According to this post from Ethereum forum, you can easily set up a desktop computer using these specs and make profit: https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/8886/quick-start-guide-to-mine-ethereum
8786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Sub $1mil market cap coins/projects with reasons to x10 - x100 or more? on: October 03, 2017, 06:41:57 AM
My favorites below 1M market cap are

1. Sumokoin - fork of Monero. recent roadmap release on the BCT thread,  https://www.sumokoin.org
2. Prototanium - testnet of Unobtanium, low supply coin
3. Noblecoin - PoS coin, has integration with a gift card business which is unique for a coin with this low a market cap, https://www.noblemovement.com/index
4. Triangles - 33% staking returns, low supply, encrypted messaging, active development with new website released recently, https://www.triangles.network

My favorite of the four is Triangles due to the consistent staking performance

Not sure about Sumokoin but Prototanium is one of those rare alts that goes right back to SHA256 POW. OK, so it is extremely rare but has this really been a good thing for low supply coins? And in this case, it is the exact same copy of Unobtanium (they share testnet, I believe not that it is the testnet for Unobtanium). It was premined even years ago so I do not see any value in taking this on (at least not in terms of mining).
8787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: right time to buy alts on: October 03, 2017, 06:12:05 AM
there are only two times when i ever buy an altcoin:

1. when i see a recent history of stable price with it staying at a reasonable range with little fluctuations and then leading to a big pump. i buy before the pump happens to sell on top.

2. when there is a huge dump and price tanks hard. that is a good short term investment. you buy in the dip after the dump slowed down and finished and hope you did well speculating and sell in a very short time after it recovered (also known as Dead Cat Bounce).

Your second point describes the time I usually buy alts, especially if the price drops near all time lows that are less than 30% of their regular highs. This way, I know even if it only recovers to the level it always struggles at, I can still make a decent 10-15% profit. Also, this does not really apply if I see a alt that was after a recent ICO as it is too early to tell the swings. I tend to wait until it has been around for a minimum of six months.
8788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dubai To Create It”s Own Official Cryptocurrency “emCash” on: October 02, 2017, 06:57:28 PM
There is no wrong way to use cryptocurrency, I suppose. But there is a lot to say that this is the type of crypto that was not the vision of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency. Then again, if it helps make lives easier and encourages blockchain and crypto to be accepted, then I guess why not. Also interesting how someone mentioned Dubaicoin. An alt that had nothing except the promise of being expensive due to scarcity. That definitely is a wrong way to use crypto, agree?
8789  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bittrex 'Bid/Ask Rate' vs. 'Actual Rate' on: October 02, 2017, 06:32:42 PM
Strange that nobody seems to have updated or respond to this since May. The original assumption appears to be correct, and should be anyway. What you get is what should be reported. Now for me, all my actual trades have been exactly what I bid/ask for, since I bid and ask according to what is available on the orderbook anyway.

I think I can only recall having one trade executed by getting filled, but I cannot find the history now.
8790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 🔵🔵 OYSTER 🔵🔵 - Anonymous Storage that Generates Revenue for Websites on: October 02, 2017, 06:21:27 PM
Wow. It is quite rare to find a new project that can peak my interest in just one post. I doubt I will invest my time into really going into the treasure hunting aspect, but when I think about the habits that I slowly picked up over the years, I can see the real possibility of people adopting this type of service. It may take many years to be successful, but is simple enough to survive and grow as a standalone service.

Next up should be a simple infographic to explain this tangle storage!
8791  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cardano on: October 02, 2017, 03:16:53 PM
It’s great seeing this interest in Cardano and Ada. I'm Tom Kelly and work as a Community & Marketing manager at the Cardano Foundation. It's a very exciting time for us right now as we publicly launched Cardano on Friday and today/yesterday began trading on Bittrex.

What is Cardano? Cardano is blockchain technology that harnesses the latest research and engineering best practices to build a system that will run decentralised applications, smart contracts and is fit to securely carry very high value.

Cardano is being built by IOHK, a leading technology company. Their international team of leading experts, academics and cryptographers have built Cardano over the past two years, inspired by the best features of existing cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ripple and Ethereum. Of its many innovations, Cardano is the first blockchain to use a provably secure, proof of stake algorithm - the only one to have been academically peer reviewed by leading cryptographers through its acceptance to Crypto 2017, the world’s top cryptography conference. https://www.forbes.com/sites/amycastor/2017/08/23/at-crypto-2017-blockchain-presentations-focus-on-proofs-not-concepts/#35d474f67b70.

There is a wealth of information available to read on the Cardano Hub website. https://www.cardanohub.org/en/home/
Anyone who has questions about the project should come to our community channels listed below. The roadmap for future updates to the project will be shared very soon, so join the community to keep up to date!

Do not take this as a bashing. I am merely pointing out what I can read from this initial introduction. A platform for decentralizes apps and smart contracts sounds exactly the same as Ethereum. Why is it the first blockchain to use provable secure POS? What is the difference that makes it so?

Also, academically peer reviewed? Maybe it is the only one that asked to be reviewed. I am certain any number of others can request the same but see no benefit. Is this maybe the "first" with a lot of Doctorates?
8792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Long term, Lisk or Stratis? on: October 02, 2017, 03:13:15 PM
Good analysis in terms of the underlying technology building both Lisk and Stratis. However, you can only retrieve clues about their long-term values as workable tech, rather than long term predictive estimates of their actual price.

We would like to think that the two are inter related. I guess to some extent they are. But unfortunately, this is not always true to the possible extent. For that reason, I cannot differentiate Lisk from Stratis.
8793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: new anon coins on: October 02, 2017, 12:22:57 PM
Tough call to make, and I do not know where to start. Convention says to stick with the ones already adopted by dark market trading and these are just Monero and Dash. I feel that new anon coins would have to significantly improve on old tech AND get adoption as well to stand any chance of a good future in terms of price.

For that reason, I think stay with Monero, Dash, Zcash. They are not done yet with their pumps.
8794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ICO Cindicator today - Only white list - what will the price will be? on: October 02, 2017, 11:51:04 AM
Looks like a ploy to present themselves as exclusive. But really, if it all it takes is to enter your email on the website to get entered into the whitelist, I do not see how this will really stop people from signing up to the ICO. Only proper AML procedures can result in a vetting process. Then again,,, who will be in charge of auditing that vetting process? Looks like ICOs really have to reinvent themselves in the face of all the Chinese and South Korean bans!
8795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Any good AirDrop or promo opportunities? on: October 02, 2017, 10:26:54 AM
Easy kickstart method which worked for me: search on google for "airdrop + bitcointalk" and you can have thousands of free coins within an hour of just installing wallets and requesting for the airdrops. Next step is go to bitcoingarden and search all the airdrops there. It is a forum like bitcointalk but specifically targetting altcoins. A lot of alt developers are also there, so you will hear airdrops from there first. Good luck!
8796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Qtum is rising, possible Bithumb listing on: October 02, 2017, 09:14:26 AM
Is anyone else wondering why all the QTUM news is so token and price focused lately? In the beginning, it seems to me from reading the old histories, that QTUM was all about helping the unbanked with smartphone applications. And projects for helping poor people. And all kinds of fancy save the world news and propaganda.

Not bashing QTUM needlessly here, but I look at all these projects and see the big focus on price and listing and token talk. That's not important for now.
8797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reverse the bans! Sign the petition to reinstate ICOs in China and South Korea on: October 01, 2017, 04:24:27 PM
Nah, you do not need to do anything. Just let those countries watch others conduct good ICOs and see them slowly move towards regulation. When they see that they are missing out, they will change their minds. After all, most people feel China's bans are just to kill the weeds at the roots while they draw up the necessary legislature. I do not think there is any need to dramatize these bans
8798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cartaxi ICO on: October 01, 2017, 03:00:55 PM
I don't think this project has any potential whatsoever. Seems like a complete scam. OP you wann try and explain what exactly CarTaxi wll do for the world and how this will generate any value?

I am a supporter, as you can clearly see from my signature, but I am not a blind bounty hunter, as you can also tell from my history of campaigns. CarTaxi's potential is of course arguable, just like any idea and any project and any ICO. You show a lack of respect and effort in asking any project "what exactly will it do for the world and generate any value" - when you should do your own research before you just blurt things out.

Never mind the laziness. Why the scam accusation?
8799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Scammed in a bounty campaign on: October 01, 2017, 02:34:44 PM
Unfortunately, participants in bounty campaigns can do nothing, if they don't receive their tokens.
Participants should be cautious before they join a bounty campaign, after they been scammed, they can do nothing. Participants in bounty campaigns spend their time which is as valuable as the money investors spend.

That is not entirely true. Yes, you can probably never get your coins or bounties as promised, but you CAN post in the Reputation thread under Scam Accusations to at least mark the project and managers. Then you prevent them from repeating their scams and save other users.

Also, if you voice out your concerns, you sometimes can get something back. But always do this with integrity. Provide evidence, use simple clear and unbiased argument, and please do not rant and use abusive language.
8800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why invest in Litecoin on: October 01, 2017, 02:21:08 PM
You said this was for the future. So I will assume that means years and not months or weeks. If that was the case, then you made a good choice. Litecoin has experienced amazing runs this year, but not so high that you feel it is over. It is always ahead even of Bitcoin in development, but that is the natural case for Litecoin as everyone knows it is a testing ground for technology like Segwit and even now Lightning network. Charlie Lee is the lead dev and so active to promote it.
